Dear NMPS Families,

By now you have heard that Senate Bill 248 indicates, state funded (no cost) full day kindergarten will be
provided in 2015-2016 school-year. However, we are planning to offer tuition based full day kindergarten
next year (2014-2015). The cost will be the same as our preschool program, $265/month or $2385/year. The
class size will be a minimum of 22 students and a maximum of 25 students. Currently, we have 20 families
that have expressed an interest, but we need a commitment by 22 families by April 14 in order to offer this
opportunity. If we have at least 22 students and adequate staffing, then we can move forward with the
program. If you or someone you know is interested in the tuition based full day kindergarten, please contact
our office by April 14. Half day kindergarten will continue to be offered at no cost.
Our school-wide behavior program is called Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports/PBIS and we teach
three main rules: Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible. When a student is observed displaying one of these
positive behaviors, an adult will reinforce the expected behaviors with a Pawsitive Pup award. Students save
their Pawsitive Pups and can go to the PBIS store to redeem them for: lunch with a friend, sticker, coloring
sheet, lunch with the principal, pencil, poster, school T-shirt, etc. Through the PBIS program, students are
empowered to celebrate their positive behavior according to their preference. The PBIS store is open 1-2 times
each month and we would like to express our gratitude to all of our outstanding volunteers who have helped
supervised the PBIS student store. We are always in need of volunteers so please contact Meredith Akin
([email protected]) or our office if you are available. The PBIS student store usually takes place the
second and fourth Monday of each month from 10:45-11:00 and from 2:35-2:50.
The Site Council is excited to announce we are planning a Cultural Celebration Night on May 21 to celebrate
all the diverse cultures within our fabulous NM community. To truly make this a successful community event,
we are inviting all interested community members who would like to represent a culture to please contact our
office or any Site Council member (Chrissy Ratto, Alice Breneman, Kristi Poole, Julie Fowler, Gus Wettstein,
Daniel Czyzewicz, Tin Kha). This could be a culture that is part of your ethnic background or a culture that
you have learned about. Here are some cultures that are represented in our great community: American,
Russian, Spanish, Somalian, German, Canadian, African, Virgin Islands, Chinese, etc. Our Site Council has
some suggested topics to consider when sharing about a culture: food, language, music, clothing, holidays,
history, etc. Please let us know if you are interested in representing a culture.

canjearlos por: Almorzando con un amigo, etiqueta engomada, hoja para colorear, almuerzo con el director, el lápiz,
cartel, camiseta de la escuela, etc. A través del programa PBIS, los estudiantes son facultada para celebrar su
comportamiento positivo de acuerdo a su preferencia. La tienda está abierta PBIS 1-2 veces al mes y nos gustaría
expresar nuestro agradecimiento a todos nuestros voluntarios sobresalientes que han ayudado supervisó la tienda
estudiantil PBIS. Siempre estamos en necesidad de voluntarios así que por favor póngase en contacto Meredith Akin
([email protected]) o con nuestra oficina si usted está disponible. La tienda estudiantil PBIS normalmente tiene

El Consejo Local se complace en anunciar que estamos planeando una Noche de Celebración Cultural el 21 de mayo
para celebrar las diversas culturas dentro de nuestra comunidad NM fabuloso. Para realmente hacer de este un evento de
la comunidad exitosa, estamos invitando a todos los miembros de la comunidad interesados que deseen representar a una
cultura que por favor póngase en contacto con nuestra oficina o cualquier miembro del Consejo del sitio (Chrissy Ratto,
