Dear Congress participant,
Welcome to the VI World Congress of Families!
Many thanks for your assistance at this great cultural and academic encounter on the family, marriage, the
right to life and freedom of education and religion. It has been a long march since the I Congress took place
in the city of Prague in 1977. Since then, Geneva, Mexico City, Warsaw and Amsterdam have preceded the
international invitation now bringing you to Madrid.
Enjoy the Congress and have a good time in this cosmopolitan and welcoming city which offers innumerable
historical and cultural attractions for your leisure and shopping pleasure.
The schedule at WCF-Madrid 2012 is very simple: in the morning there are plenary sessions in the main
auditorium of the Congress Palace for all Congress participants; on Friday and Saturday afternoon there are
specialized panel sessions on education, right to life, marriage, freedom of religion… During the afternoon the
meetings of the various panel sessions will take place in smaller rooms at the Congress Palace.
Together with the official Congress program, there will be a parallel program: Parliamentary Forum (Friday),
Academic Seminar (Saturday) and Youth Forum (Saturday).
And don’t forget the WCF-Madrid 2012 spectacles: A marvelous concert by the WYD Orchestra and Choir, the
first European showing of the film ´Cristiada´ (For the Greater Glory) and the musical ´The Magic of Tales`.
Also, don´t miss the Family Festival, set up in the public areas of the Congress Palace. Remember that you have
the Nursery and the Restaurant at your disposal. On Sunday morning religious services will be available for the
faithful of various confessions who come to the Congress. If you are interested kindly check the program for
location and time of the ceremony which you wish to attend.
All the information is in the attached program.
May you enjoy these days at the WCF-Madrid 2012! I am convinced that it will be a decisive experience for the
improvement of the welfare of the family in our societies.

Querido congresista, querida congresista:
¡Bienvenidos al VI Congreso Mundial de Familias!
Muchas gracias por tu presencia en este gran encuentro cultural y académico sobre la familia, el matrimonio,
el derecho a la vida, la libertad de educación y la libertad religiosa. Ha sido un largo recorrido desde que
en 1997 tuviera lugar el I Congreso en la ciudad de Praga. Desde entonces, Ginebra, México D.F, Varsovia y
Amsterdam han precedido esta cita internacional que hoy te trae a Madrid.
Disfruta del Congreso y disfruta de una ciudad cosmopolita y acogedora, que te ofrece innumerables atractivos históricos y culturales, de ocio, o para hacer tus compras.
El funcionamiento del WCF-Madrid 2012 es muy sencillo: por las mañanas, sesiones plenarias, para todos los
congresistas, en el Auditorio principal del Palacio de Congresos; por las tardes, viernes y sábado, seminarios
especializados sobre Educación, Derecho a la Vida, Matrimonio, Libertad Religiosa... Durante la tarde, las
sesiones de los distintos seminarios tendrán lugar en salas más pequeñas del Palacio de Congreso.
Junto con el programa oficial del Congreso, se desarrollará un programa paralelo: Foro Parlamentario (viernes), Seminario Académico (sábado) y Foro de Jóvenes (sábado).
Y no olvides los espectáculos del WCF-Madrid 2012: un maravilloso concierto de la Orquesta y Coro de la
JMJ, la primicia europea de la película ‘Cristiada’ (For Greater Glory) y el musical La magia de los cuentos.
No te pierdas la gran Feria de la Familia, instalada en las zonas comunes del Palacio de Congresos. Recuerda
que dispones de servicios de Guardería y Restaurante. El domingo, por la mañana, habrá oficios religiosos
para los fieles de las distintas confesiones que acuden al Congreso. Si estás interesado, no dejes de consultar
en el programa dónde y a qué hora será la ceremonia a la que deseas asistir.

¿QUÉ ES EL CONGRESO MUNDIAL DE FAMILIAS?
El Congreso Mundial de Familias (WCF, por sus siglas en inglés) es la coalición internacional más grande del mundo de líderes
profamilia.
El Congreso Mundial de Familias:
1. Celebra a la familia natural a través de reuniones periódicas.
2. Comparte investigaciones científicas de importancia; y
3. Alienta políticas públicas que protejan y preserven la familia natural como la unidad fundamental de la sociedad civil.
El WCF promueve a la familia natural como la unión entre un hombre y una mujer a través del matrimonio a efectos de compartir
el amor y la alegría, procreando a los niños, proveyéndoles de una educación moral, construyendo una economía nacional vital,
ofreciendo seguridad en tiempos difíciles, y la unión generacional. El WCF considera a la familia natural como parte del orden creado, impreso en la naturaleza humana, fuente de alegría generosa y vida nueva y baluarte de la libertad ordenada.
En respuesta a un individualismo secular militante que existe en general en el mundo occidental post-moderno, el WCF promueve
una red internacional de organizaciones profamilia, académicos y líderes culturales y políticos que buscan restaurar la familia natural como unidad social fundamental, que se configura como el semillero de la buena ciudadanía. El Congreso afirma y construye
un frente común entre personas preocupadas por la familia en el mundo. El Congreso también pretende cambiar la terminología
actual empleada en ciertos debates públicos clave:
De “la familia como un obstáculo para el desarrollo” a “la familia como fuente de renovación social y de progreso”.
De la “sobrepoblación” a la “despoblación”, como el problema demográfico que enfrenta el siglo XXI.
De “la familia pequeña que no tiene hijos voluntariamente” a “la celebración de la gran familia como un regalo social que es
especial”.
Y de la ortodoxia religiosa entendida como una “amenaza para el progreso” a una visión “religiosa” del ser humano y del
mundo.
WHAT IS THE WORLD CONGRESS OF FAMILIES?
The World Congress of Families (WCF) is the world’s largest international coalition of pro-family leaders.
The WCF:
1. Celebrates the natural family through periodic gatherings;
2. Shares sound scientific research; and
3. Encourages public policies that protect and preserve the natural family as the fundamental unit of civil society.
The WCF promotes the natural family as the union of a man and a woman through marriage for the purposes of sharing love and
joy, procreation and raising of children providing for their moral education, building a vital home economy, offering security in times
of trouble, and binding the generations. The WCF views the natural family as part of the created order, imprinted on human nature,
the source of bountiful joy, the fountain of new life and the bulwark of ordered liberty.
In response to a militant secular individualism found in parts of the “post modern” West, the WCF fosters an international network of
pro-family organizations, scholars, and cultural and political leaders that seek to restore the natural family as the fundamental social
unit, the “seedbed” of good citizenship. The Congress affirms and builds a positive united front among family centered people of the
world. The congress also seeks to shift the terms of certain key public debates:
From “the family as an obstacle to development” to “family as source of social renewal and progress”.
From “overpopulation” to “underpopulation” as the demographic problem facing the twenty first century.
From “the small family and voluntary childlessness as good” to “the celebration of the large family as a special social gift”
And from religious orthodoxy as a “threat to progress” to “religious” vision of the human being and the world.

ANALYSIS, PROPOSALS, AND SOLUTIONS
The World Congress of Families VI (WCF Madrid 2012), provides an international forum for open an free debate where the
attendants can exchange views, propose solutions or consider ways to turn the global situation around. It does not suffice to believe
in the family: it is necessary to take steps to defend it and to propose solutions. We must unabashedly return to the very roots of
humanity, to what is basic in all human beings, i.e. to their personal dignity, which cannot be forfeited. This must always be done
with a view to the common good and to the happiness of individuals, each of whom has a right to a family.
We are all aware of the issue and we are all concerned with the current situation in Western societies. There is one basic reason for
this: the family crisis. Human beings are made for love; a deep-felt love between man and woman whose relationship is nourished
by their children and builds a healthy community. This is something so incredibly valuable that we cannot afford to lose it! We would
all like to be happy and this is the natural way to achieve happiness. In fact, the first subject to be dealt with at the opening of our
Congress will be: The Natural Family.
The time has come to pave the way towards making the natural family secure and safe.
As opposed to the momentum of exacerbated relativism that has succeeded in undermining the natural unity of the human
individual, we hold that we are not fragmented beings who play different roles at work, in the family, or with friends. The trend
towards anthropological fragmentation is what has given rise to this ambiguous and somewhat schizophrenic society in which we
do not dare to live with integrity, and that deprives us of the joy of life. And that has led to false claims of “personal self-fulfillment”
at the expense of the “personal being”, one who is fully free to act, choose and decide without social coercion.
When love is faked a demographic winter sets in while economically society declines and becomes corrupted. The consequences
are proof that we have a serious problem: mass sterilization policies in impoverished countries, the instrumental use of human
beings, sexual commerce and every other form of exploitation. We just have to recall that the prime cause of the current global
economic crisis has been a problem of lack of ethics, and thus of large-scale fraud.
The family crisis stems from a false idea that has gained preeminence, about human beings themselves and their dignity. We have
become a means to achieve many different economic, for-profit, hedonistic or supposedly ‘green’ ends. Yet human beings are ends
in themselves and their personal dignity cannot be forfeited. We are privileged among other beings because we are free and
therefore ethical individuals. Ethical integrity is our crowning achievement, and this is configured in the family.
The time has come to take the lead
The time has come to defend the natural family and marriage as well as to take the lead by proposing vanguard moves to help the
family to be what it is, harnessing with responsibility the benefits and opportunities afforded by the 21st century. This century brings
the hope of learning from our mistakes, making use of advances, and proposing family policies that will give birth to a new global
society of solidarity. We have to take a wide view to recognize the time is ripe, to build on hard rock, and to generate confidence.
We need to understand the policies that have undermined the family (the homosexual lobby, birth control, anti-life policies including
abortion and euthanasia, the gender approach) in order to confront the social and political problem. This is the only way to provide
realistic and viable alternatives to such noxious policies. To act effectively we have to be aware of the real circumstances and have
a clear goal.
The parents’ right to educate their children, especially in the affective sphere that sustains and reinforces a suitable ethical
upbringing, is essential to achieve the social change we yearn for.
Freedom, protected by the human rights enshrined by law, will enable us to bring about the change. This includes religious freedom
as a framework in which to express the valid feelings of transcendence of each individual, to which everyone is entitled.
The proposal on “Marriage and the Family, Future of Society” is therefore as effective as it is real and necessary. It is the axis around
which the rest of the elements of society turn, on which the World Congress of Families aims to leave its imprint and to continue
promoting change towards a culture of life, in benefit of the highest good: the individual person.

ANÁLISIS, PROPUESTAS Y SOLUCIONES
El Congreso Mundial de Familias (VI WCF Madrid 2012) es un foro internacional en el que la gente dispone de libertad total para
hablar e intercambiar puntos de vista, proponer soluciones, considerar vías de cambio para la situación global actual. No es suficiente creer en la familia: es necesario emprender acciones para defenderla y proponer soluciones. Debemos volver descaradamente a
las raíces profundas de la humanidad, a lo que es básico en todos los seres humanos, como es la dignidad personal, que no puede
ser confiscada. Siempre con vistas al bien común y a la felicidad del individuo, cada uno de los cuales tiene derecho a una familia.
Todos estamos alerta con el tema, y nos preocupa la actual situación en las sociedades occidentales. Existe una razón básica para
ello: la crisis de la familia. El ser humano está hecho para el amor; un profundo amor entre hombre y mujer cuya relación es fortalecida por sus hijos y construye una comunidad saludable. Esto es algo tan increíblemente valioso que no nos podemos permitir perderlo. A todos nos gustaría ser felices, y este es el modo natural de alcanzar esa felicidad. De hecho, el primer tema que trataremos
en la apertura de nuestro Congreso será “la familia natural”.
Ha llegado el momento de preparar el camino para alcanzar una familia natural segura y protegida.
En contraposición al momento de relativismo exacerbado que ha logrado minar la unidad natural del individuo humano, nosotros
sostenemos que no somos seres fragmentados que juegan papeles diferentes en el trabajo, en la familia o con los amigos. La tendencia hacia la desfragmentación antropológica es lo que ha dado lugar a esta ambigua y en cierto modo esquizofrénica sociedad
en la que no nos atrevemos a vivir con integridad, y que nos roba la alegría de vivir. Y ello ha conducido a falsas reclamaciones de
“realización personal” en detrimento del “ser `personal”, el que es libre para actuar, elegir y decidir sin coacción social.
Cuando se traiciona al amor, aparece un invierno demográfico al tiempo que la sociedad se debilita económicamente y se vuelve
corrupta. Las consecuencias son prueba de que tenemos un serio problema: políticas de esterilización masiva en países pobres, utilización instrumental de seres humanos, comercio sexual y otras muchas maneras de explotación. Tenemos que destacar que la causa
principal de la actual crisis económica global ha sido un problema de falta de ética, y, consecuentemente, un fraude a gran escala.
La crisis de la familia surge de una falsa idea que ha ido ganando adeptos, sobre el ser humano en sí mismo y su dignidad. El ser
humano se ha convertido en un medio de lograr diferentes fines económicos, lucrativos, hedonistas o supuestamente “ecológicos”.
Pero el ser humano es un fin en sí mismo y no puede perder su dignidad personal. Somos privilegiados con respecto a otros seres
porque somos libres y, por lo tanto, individuos éticos. La integridad ética es nuestro mayor logro y queda configurado en la familia.
Ha llegado el momento de tomar la iniciativa
Ha llegado el momento de defender a la familia natural y el matrimonio, así como de proponer movimientos de vanguardia para
ayudar a la familia a que sea lo que es, utilizando con responsabilidad las ventajas y oportunidades que nos ofrece el siglo XXI. Este
esperanzador siglo nos permite la posibilidad de aprender de nuestros errores, hacer uso de los avances, y proponer políticas familiares que den luz a una nueva sociedad global de solidaridad. Tenemos la perspectiva para reconocer que el momento está maduro
para construir en roca y generar confianza.
Tenemos que comprender las políticas que han minado a la familia (el lobby homosexual, control de natalidad, políticas anti vida,
incluyendo aborto y eutanasia, el enfoque de ideologías de género) para confrontar el problema social y político. Es la única forma
de presentar alternativas realistas y viables a dichas políticas nocivas. Para actuar con eficacia tenemos que ser conscientes de las
circunstancias reales y tener un objetivo claro.
El derecho de los padres a educar a sus hijos, especialmente en el terreno afectivo que sostiene y refuerza un desarrollo éticamente
adecuado, es esencial para lograr el cambio social que anhelamos.
La libertad, defendida por los derechos humanos protegidos por ley, nos permitirá hacer el cambio. Esto incluye la libertad religiosa
como marco en donde expresar los legítimos sentimientos de trascendencia de cada individuo, al que todo el mundo tiene derecho.
Por lo tanto, la propuesta en cuanto a “Matrimonio y familia, el futuro de la sociedad” es tan efectiva como actual y necesaria. Es
el eje sobre el que descansan el resto de los elementos del cambio social, en el que el Congreso Mundial quiere dejar su huella y
continuar promoviendo el cambio hacia una cultura de vida, en beneficio del bien mayor: la persona.

Localización
La ciudad está situada junto al río Manzanares, en el centro del país, en la Comunidad de Madrid. Gracias a su despegue económico,
el nivel de vida y la pujanza de su comercio, Madrid se considera el mayor centro financiero de la península ibérica; alberga a los
centros directivos de la mayoría de las principales empresas españolas, así como los cuarteles generales de tres de las 100 empresas
más importantes a nivel mundial.
Madrid es una ciudad de gran importancia cultural y política. Con una moderna infraestructura, ha preservado la apariencia y sensación de sus históricas calles y vecindarios. Sus puntos de referencia incluyen el Palacio Real; el Teatro Real, que alberga el Palacio
de la Ópera, restaurado en 1850; el parque del Buen Retiro, inaugurado en 1631; el imponente edificio de la Biblioteca Nacional del
siglo XIX (inaugurado en el año 1712), que contiene algunos de los archivos históricos de España; y tres magníficos museos: el Museo

Location
The city is located on the river Manzanares in the center of the country, between the autonomous communities of Castile and León
and Castile-La Mancha. Due to its economic output, standard of living, and market size, Madrid is considered the major financial center of the Iberian Peninsula; it hosts the head offices of the vast majority of the major Spanish companies, as well as the headquarters
of three of the world’s 100 largest companies.
Madrid is a city of great cultural and political importance. While Madrid possesses a modern infrastructure, it has preserved the look
and feel of many of its historic neighborhoods and streets. Its landmarks include the huge Royal Palace of Madrid; the Teatro Real (Royal theatre) with its restored 1850 Opera House; the Buen Retiro park, founded in 1631; the imposing 19th-century National Library
building (founded in 1712) containing some of Spain’s historical archives; an archaeological museum of international reputation; and
three superb art museums: Prado Museum, the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum,
housed in the renovated Villahermosa Palace.

Transporte
La mejor manera de sumergirse en la ciudad de Madrid o poder conocer mejor toda la región es por medio del transporte público.
La red de cercanías (RENFE) de la comunidad de Madrid es muy eficaz. Estos trenes le llevarán rápida y cómodamente a las comunidades vecinas de Castilla y León y Castilla- La Mancha.
Metro de Madrid es una red de transporte esencial para la ciudad. Es rápido, puntual y moderno, es nuestra oferta estrella. El horario
de funcionamiento de los trenes es de 6:00 am. a 1:30 am diariamente.
Transportation
The best way to get around inside Madrid or its region is by means of public transportation.
One of them is the short distance railway network (Renfe), which is very efficient. Using these kind of trains you can arrive quickly to
the neighbouring autonomous regions of Castilla y León and Castilla-La Mancha.
Metro de Madrid is an essential transportation network for the city, it is fast, punctual, efficient and modern, it is our star offer. It runs
daily from 6 am to 1.30 am.

El Palacio de Congresos de Madrid está situado en el corazón de la ciudad, cerca de los mejores restaurantes y centros comerciales, al

previamente invitados al mismo. Concluirá con una rueda de prensa conjunta.
The Parliamentary Forum gathers the principal leaders and activists
from civic, educational and research organizations – that defend the natural
family and life as fundamental principles – together with political representatives to make an analysis and propose concrete solutions directed to the
international political and legislative areas as well as to the participation and influence of civil society. This encounter will be on a closed door basis and the participants have already been invited. It will conclude with a joint press conference.

El foro internacional de jóvenes aspira en esta ocasión a presentar
a los futuros pensadores y activistas en defensa de la vida y la familia, herramientas, formación, y claves para aumentar su conocimiento y desarrollo
personal. Dentro del foro se llevarán a cabo seminarios de distinta índole,
desde el liderazgo, la comunicación, actividades para recaudar fondos, así
como de formación del carácter y proyección internacional de los jovenes
provida y profamilia en el mundo. El Foro comienza el vienres y concluye
el sábado.
The International Youth Forum aspires on this occasion to present
future thinkers and activists, in the areas of defense of life and family, tools,
formation and keys to increase their knowledge and personal development.
Within the Forum different types of seminars will be held from the standpoints of leadership, communication, fund-raising activities, as well as character formation and international projection for pro-life and pro-family youth
from the world over. The Forum begins on Friday and ends on Saturday.

ACADEMIC SEMINAR
El seminario académico pretende reunir a los principales estudiosos
de la familia de distintas universidades y centros de investigación a nivel
mundial buscando facilitar la colaboración en las investigaciones, sinergias
y trabajo en red.
El seminario pretende ser un encuentro fecundo entre investigadores
y profesores dedicados al estudio de la familia: un encuentro
multidisciplinar guiado por la búsqueda de la verdad sobre la persona
y la familia, desde la unidad que brota de una causa común y unos valores
compartidos.
Como decía Juan Pablo II: “La investigación universitaria se debe
implicar en los problemas de nuestro tiempo estudiando en profundidad sus
raíces y sus causas y proponiendo soluciones” (Ex corde Ecclesiae, n 32), la defensa
de la familia y de la vida es una necesidad urgente ante la que no podemos
escatimar energías.
The Academic Seminar that will take place at the World Congress of
Families will gather a selection of scholars and researchers on family issues
from all over the world.
The Seminar will provide a favorable opportunity for personal
interaction and in-depth discussions on family topics that can lead to future
collaboration in research projects and other activities.
As Pope John Paul II said: “Universities are immersed in human
society, so University research should seek to discover the roots and causes
of the serious problems of our time, especially in areas such as the dignity of
human life and the quality of personal and family life (Ex corde Ecclesiae,
n. 32)”.

Una narración épica de la Guerra Cristera (1926-1929), que fue
detonada por el intento del gobierno mexicano de suprimir la libertad de
culto. La película sigue la epopeya de gente ordinaria de todo el país que
eligió defender su libertad. Todos ellos deberán decidir si están dispuestos a
dar su vida por defenderla.
La película dirigida por Dean Wright, se estrenó en México el pasado
20 de abril. La cinta, que se basa en la historia de ficción de Michael Love,
cuenta con las actuaciones de Andy García, Eva Longoria, Peter O’Toole,
Rubén Blades, Óscar Isaac, Santiago Cabrera, Catalina Sandino Moreno,
Daniel Giménez Cacho, Karyme Lozano, Ignacio Guadalupe y Moisés Suárez.
“Cristiada”, filmada en México, refleja cómo en 1926 las autoridades
federales impusieron nuevas leyes las cuales buscaban restringir la influencia
de la Iglesa Católica sobre la población.
An epic narration of the Cristiada War (1226-1029), which was
unleashed by the attempt of the Mexican Government to suppress freedom
of cult. The story follows the epic of ordinary people from all over the country
who chose to defend their freedom. All of them will have to decide whether
they are willing to give their lives to defend it.
The film, directed by Dean Wright, made its premiere showing in Mexico
last 20th of April. The script, based on the fictional history by Michael Love,
features the performances of Andy Garcia, Eva Longoria, Peter O´Toole,
Ruben Blades, Oscar Isaac, Santiago Cabrera, Catalina Sandino Moreno,
Daniel Giménez Cacho, Karyme Lozano, Ignacio Guadalupe y Moises Suarez.

El Concurso del Himno del WCF supone otra de las novedades de esta sexta edición del Congreso Mundial de Familias.
El comité organizador local lanzó la iniciativa a principios de
año y poco a poco se fueron sumando valiosos concursantes, desde familias, colegios, amigos, cantantes profesionales, ha sido todo un reto elegir al ganador.
Cantarán para todos nosotros el sábado. ¿Qué hemos buscado? Una canción joven, dinámica y original que transmita
los valores del WCF, llena de energía y optimismo. Hemos
buscado una canción con la que los congresistas se identifiquen, una canción que sirva para vivir intensamente los días
del WCF y para recordarlo, y sobre todo... para cantarlo.
SONG CONTEST
The WCF Hymn Contest is another of the novelties of this
sixth edition of the World Congress of Families. The local organizing committee launched the initiative at the beginning
of the year and little by little various worthy contenders
made their appearance, from families, schools, friends
and professional singers; it has been a great challenge to
choose the winner.
They will sing for us on Saturday. What were we looking
for? A youthful song, dynamic and original, which transmits
the values of the WCF, full of energy and optimism. We
looked for a song with which all the Congress participants
can identify, a song which serves to intensely live the days
of the WCF, to remember it and, above all, …to be sung.
