FOURTH SUNDAY OF ADVENT
First Reading: Isaiah 7:10-14
Ahaz receives from Isaiah a prophecy that he will be
successful in war and is urged to ask for a sign that the
prophecy is true. The sign is “The virgin shall be with child
and bear a son, and shall name him Emmanuel.”
Second Reading: Romans 1:1-7
Paul greets the Romans by pointing out that Jesus is the
Christ who was promised to them in Scripture. He, Paul, is
the apostle favored with the task of spreading the name of
Christ to all.
Gospel: Matthew 1:18-24
In a brief, straightforward, simple narrative, Matthew
recounts the events leading to Jesus’ birth. He details the
appearance of the angel in a dream to Joseph and
stresses that “All this happened to fulfill what the Lord had
said through the prophets.”
CUARTO DOMINGO DE ADVIENTO
Primera Lectura: Isaías 7:10-14
Acaz recibe de Isaías una profecía que indica que será
exitoso en la guerra y es exhortado a pedir una señal de
que la profecía es verdadera. La señal es “La joven está
encinta y va a tener un hijo, al que pondrá por nombre
Emanuel.”
Segunda Lectura: Romanos 1:1-7
Pablo saluda a los romanos señalando que Jesús es el
Cristo que les fue prometido en las escrituras. El, Pablo,
es el apóstol favorecido con el encargo de dar a conocer
el nombre de Cristo a todos.
Evangelio: San Mateo 1:18-24
En una corta, directa y simple narrativa, Mateo cuenta los
eventos que culminan con el nacimiento de Jesús.
Cuenta de la aparición del ángel a José en un sueño y
recalca que “Todo esto sucedió para que se cumpliera lo
que el Señor había dicho por medio del profeta.”

“Greetings from Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus,
called to be an apostle and set apart to proclaim the
gospel of God which he promised long ago… the
gospel concerning his Son who was descended from
David… Through him we have been favored with
apostleship, that we may spread his name and bring
to obedient faith all the Gentiles among whom are you
who have been called to belong to Jesus Christ.”
Not a Christmas card, but the beginning of a special
inspired letter which Paul sent to the Roman community.
He knew who he was, no identity problem. He knew his
role as both servant and apostle. His greeting is directed
to us, and like the many cards we receive and send, we
realize we are servants and apostles too.
We are to spread His name because we have been
invited to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
We have the same mission to bring others to the Lord. It
might be someone in my family who has wavered in the
practice of the faith. It might be someone weighed down
with a hurt or problem, asking us to help lift them in this
time of need. It might be that person next to us, curious
because I belong to Christ, and they only need our simple
invitation. Our response can be a Christmas card and gift
for them. ‘Come Lord Jesus.’
IN YOUR CHARITY: Please take minutes to include the
following family members in your prayer. They are at
home, in hospitals or rehabilitation, and we support them.
Emil Madonna, Ann Verano, Hilda and Edna Dkorka, Ted
Zveig, Mariana Menoscal, Hector Murillo, Bill and Dottie
Selis Father Frank McNulty, Monsignor Jim Finnerty and
Father Jim Sullivan. Pray too for those who have died in
accidents, war and natural disasters.
OPLATKY: The traditional Christmas Wafer, to be shared
with loved ones at Christmas may be found at the altar rail
in front of the Advent Wreath.
GIVING TREE: Thank you for the generous outpouring of
gifts for St. Mother Teresa’s Shelter and St. John’s
ministry among the homeless. The Father gave us Jesus,
and we give something of ourselves.
ENVELOPES: Boxed envelopes for the year 2017 as at
the door of the church. We encourage each family to use
them for your records as well as the record of the parish.
MANY THANKS: For the cards, prayers and Christmas
well wishes you have sent for our parish staff and parish
community. You are a Christmas blessing.
CHRISTMAS OFFERING: Your gift to the parish is so
important. Please use the offering envelopes and be
generous. We give many gifts – please do not forget your
church.

Visiting priests will assist our community. Take advantage
of this special healing moment. If you have been away
from the sacrament, this is the acceptable time. Jesus
came to save and heal. He gave us this sacrament to
assist us.

If you are a parent or guardian of a child in our Religious
Education Program, your signature is required that at the
end of the Mass you attend. The Mass attendance book
will be at the back right side. Make sure you do not leave

“Carta de Pablo, servidor de Jesucristo, llamado el
Apóstol, y elegido para anunciar la Buena Noticia de
Dios, que él había prometido… acerca de su Hijo,
Jesucristo, nuestro Señor, nacido de la estirpe de
David… Por él hemos recibido la gracia y la misión
apostólica, a fin de conducir a la obediencia de la fe,
para la gloria de su Nombre, a todos los pueblos
paganos, entre los cuales se encuentran también
ustedes, que han sido llamados por Jesucristo.”
No es una tarjeta de Navidad, sino el comienzo de una
especial e inspirada carta que San Pablo envió a la
comunidad romana.
El sabía quién era, no tenía
problemas de identidad. Conocía su papel tanto como
siervo y como apóstol. Su saludo está dirigido a nosotros,
y así como tantas tarjetas que recibimos y enviamos, nos
damos cuenta de que nosotros también somos siervos y
apóstoles.
Debemos divulgar Su nombre porque hemos sido
invitados a tener una relación personal con Jesucristo.
Tenemos la misma misión de traer a otros al Señor.
Puede que sea alguien en nuestra familia que ha dejado
de practicar la fe. Puede ser alguien que ha sucumbido a
un dolor o problema, y que nos pide ayuda para
levantarse en su hora de necesidad. Puede ser la
persona que tenemos al lado, curiosa al ver que
pertenecemos a Cristo, y quien sólo necesita una simple
invitación. Nuestra respuesta puede ser tanto una tarjeta
navideña como un regalo para ellos. ‘Ven, Señor Jesús.’

requiere firmar al final de la Misa, el libro de Asistencia.
El libro de Asistencia a Misa se encuentra a la parte de
atrás al lado derecho. Asegúrese de firmar antes de irse.

EL 18 Y 20 DE DICIEMBRE serán las últimas clases
antes de la Navidad. Regresaremos a clases el 8 y 10 de
Enero para continuar con el catecismo.
EN SU CARIDAD: Por favor tome minutos para incluir a
los siguientes miembros de la familia en su oración. Están
en casa, en hospitales o en rehabilitación, y los

ÁRBOL DE REGALOS: Gracias por el generoso
derramamiento de regalos para el Refugio de Santa
Madre Teresa y el ministerio de San Juan entre los
desamparados. El Padre nos dio a Jesús, y nosotros
damos algo de nosotros mismos.

SERVICIO DE PENITENCIA: Lunes por la noche a las
7:30pm. Sacerdotes visitantes ayudarán a nuestra
comunidad. Aprovecha este momento especial de
sanación. Si usted ha estado ausente de la Santa Cena,
este es el tiempo oportuno para volver. Jesús vino para
salvar y sanar. Él nos dio este sacramento para
ayudarnos.
MUCHAS GRACIAS: Por las tarjetas, las oraciones y los
deseos de Navidad que ha enviado para nuestro personal
de la parroquia y la comunidad parroquial. Son una
bendición navideña.
OFRENDA DE NAVIDAD: Su donación a la parroquia es
tan importante. Por favor utilice los sobres ofrenda y sea
generoso. Nosotros entregamos mucho - por favor no se
olvide de su iglesia.
SOBRES: las cajas de sobres para el año 2016 están en
la puerta de la iglesia. Animamos a cada familia a
utilizarlos para saber que están presentes en la vida de la
parroquia.
