REGISTERED CHARITY NO 1109726 TRUSTEES - PHIL BAILEY, GEOFF BAILEY, JOSEPH PETTITT, ROGER OSBORNE PHIL’S NEWSLETTER - JUNE 2014 This one is not so much about the activities of ZMS but more about nd personal developments. On the 2 June I reached ten years in Zambia. Firstly I give thanks to God for his preserving mercies over this period. th Just before this on Friday 30 May I collected my Resident Permit. Thank you all for your prayers. This is a real blessing as it changes my status here th May 29 Teaching FGW to Ukwimi Agricultural college students CC FARM BAOBAB FARM from a temporary volunteer to a permanent resident. This means I can buy property and run a company in my own name. A year ago we set up Lima Agro Consult as a trading name th Then on 4 June I signed a contract to buy 20 ha’s (50 acres) of land about 40 kms north of Lusaka. This is virgin forestland with many very large trees including several beautiful Baobab (hence the name I’ve given it) that can be upwards of 1000 years old. and now we are about to change it into a Ltd Co. The main business will be selling Horticulture Crop Cover Solutions using Haygrove poly tunnels I will also be doing consultancy on Conservation farming using Farming God’s Way as the main principles. I already have my first contract with African Vision of Hope who are setting up a conservation teaching farm just north of Lusaka. It’s become clear that the biggest challenge Jackson faces when I’m not around is transport. The CCZT vehicle is only available to him a couple of times a week, which limits his ability to run the farm properly. Therefore we took the decision last week to purchase a small truck for the farm which will also be hired out to cover the running costs and GW even create surplus income for the farm. Jackson will drive it from Lusaka back to Petauke this th Saturday 7 June with its first load. This is a wonderful opportunity to be a witness in caring for God’s creation. Here we will set up LAC and a demonstration of the Haygrove tunnels. At the same time teaching the practice of conservation farming under the FGW banner. PRAYER POINTS x Praise God for His double blessing of my residency permit and the provision of the land. x Give thanks for the many friends that have helped me over the past ten years. x Pray that the truck will be a blessing to the Farm Ministry and will run smoothly for many years. Thank you for your support. With Christian Love Phil 86 Sunnyhill Road, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire HP1 1TA tel: 01442 218101 email: [email protected] web: www.zambianmissionsupport.org
