Congratulations and Prayerful Best Wishes
St. John-Visitation Parish extends our
prayerful best wishes to the young members of our
parish community and their families who celebrated
First Holy Communion last weekend. May our young
people continue to grow in the Catholic faith that has
been handed down to them and draw closer to the Lord
Jesus through the gift of the Sacrament of the Holy
Eucharist.
Also, this past May 27th marked the 55th
anniversary of Monsignor Hugh McManus'
ordination to the priesthood. Msgr. McManus grew
up in St. John's Parish and celebrated his first Mass
here in our church on May 28, 1961. We thank him
for his many years of dedicated and faithful service as a
priest in our Archdiocese especially for his work in
Catholic education, as a teacher, and in parish
ministry. His presence and assistance as a senior priest
in his home parish is greatly appreciated. Ad multos
annos!
Father's Day Masses
The parish Masses on Sunday June 19th
(Father's Day) will be offered for all fathers, both
living and deceased. Please make use of the specially
marked envelopes that are available in the church and
return them to the parish office by Friday June 17th.

On behalf of the mend of St. Christopher's Inn,
thank you very much for the generous April 8, 2016
gift of $825 from St. John-Visitation Parish. The men
of the Inn will benefit enormously from your support.
The impact of the Inn can be found throughout
our campus in the faces of those men whom we are
helping recover from addiction. Your gift enables us to
integrate shelter and treatment for alcohol and drug
abuse, mental health service, and primary medical care
– all on one campus. Thanks to friends like you, we can
serve nearly 1,000 men each year with a 75% success
rate for substance abuse treatment, the highest in New
York State among like programs.
The St. John-Visitation Parish support of the
Inn is humbling and inspiring. Thank you for
believing in the work we do, providing life-saving
support for so many in need.

Mercy on Saturday June 18th at Cathedral High
School (East 55th Street and First Avenue) from 8:005:00 pm. Sean Cardinal O'Malley, Archbishop of
Boston will be the principal celebrant and homilist at
the Mass. Key note speakers will be Rev. Donald
Senior, CP, Editor of the Catholic Bible Study and
Archbishop Octavio Ruis Arenas, Secretary of the
Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New
Evangelization, Vatican City. Workshops will be

Parish Pilgrimage to the Holy Land
October 31-November 10, 2016
To date, 60 participants have registered for our
parish's Holy Land Tour in celebration of the Jubilee
Year of Mercy this Fall. TriStar Tours has made
arrangements for up to 70 to take part in this Holy
Land pilgrimage.
Initial cost is $2098 per person based on
double occupancy with round trip flights from Newark
to Tel-Aviv, 8 night hotel accommodations, daily
breakfast and dinner, and sightseeing of various
biblical sites. With the supplemental cost $795 for
airport taxes/security fees, fuel surcharge, gratuities to
guides, drivers, and hotel personnel, this brings the
total cost to $2893.

Felicitaciones y Mejores Deseos
San Juan Visitación extiende nuestras
oraciones y mejores deseos a los jóvenes miembros de
nuestra comunidad parroquial y sus familias que
celebraron la Primera Comunión el pasado fin de
semana. Que nuestros jóvenes continúen creciendo en
la fe católica que ha sido transmitida a ellos y acercarse
más al Señor Jesús a través del don del Sacramento de
la Santa Eucaristía.
Además, este pasado 27 de mayo marcó el 55
aniversario de la ordenación de Monseñor Hugh
McManus al sacerdocio. Monseñor McManus se crió
en la parroquia de St. John y celebró su primera misa
aquí en nuestra iglesia el 28 de mayo de 1961. Le
damos las gracias por sus muchos años de servicio
dedicado y fiel como sacerdote en la Arquidiócesis sobre
todo por su trabajo en la educación católica, como un
maestro, y en el ministerio parroquial. Su presencia y
la asistencia como un sacerdote de alto nivel en su
parroquia es muy apreciada. Ad multos annos!
Misas del Día de Los Padres
Las misas de la parroquia el domingo 19 de
junio de (Día del Padre) se ofrecerán a todos los padres,
vivos y difuntos. Por favor haga uso de los sobres
especialmente marcados que están disponibles en la
iglesia y devolverlos a la oficina parroquial para el
viernes 17 de junio.

Peregrinación parroquia a la Tierra Santa

Al día, más de 60 participantes se han inscrito
para Tierra Santa tour de nuestra parroquia en la
celebración del Año Jubilar de la Misericordia este
otoño. TriStar Tours ha hecho arreglos para un
máximo de 70 para participar en esta peregrinación
Tierra Santa.
El costo inicial es $ 2098 por persona en base
habitación doble con vuelos de ida y vuelta desde
Newark a Tel-Aviv, 8 noches de alojamiento, desayuno
y la cena, y visitas de varios lugares bíblicos. Con el
costo suplementario de $ 795 para las tasas de
