We are currently updating the prayer chain list and need
more people to pray. If you are interested to be part of this

if I can not answer your call. It takes just a little time to
pass prayer requests to the next person and blessings are
not only for the person you are praying for, but you also
receive blessings by doing a great service.
Confirmation Mass for North Deanery
This is a special year, Bishop Patrick J. Zurek made the decision
to celebrate all confirmations at St. Mary’s Cathedral. The final
Deanery Confirmation Mass of 2016, celebrated by
Bishop Patrick J. Zurek will be on Saturday May 21, 2016 at
10:30am. This Mass will be for parishioners in the North Deanery,
including these parishes: • St. Peter's Church, Booker; • St. John
the Evangelist Church, Borger; • Our Lady of Guadalupe Church,

THE GIFT OF PEACE
We are offered another vision in today’s second reading, a vision of the New Jerusalem, “coming down out of heaven
from God” (Revelation 21:10). Read between the lines describing the radiant city, and we find that the greatest beauty revealed is the beauty of perfect symmetry and order, a city founded on the faith of the twelve tribes of Israel and the Twelve
Apostles, lit only by the glory of God.
The first reading and the Gospel are linked to this idealized description of the New Jerusalem. In both we read of distress
and disturbance countered by the gift of peace. “[M]y peace I give to you,” Jesus assures his disciples at the Last Supper (John
14:27). In keeping with that gift, the apostles and elders, in the reading from Acts, decide not to disturb the peace of new
Gentile believers. The undue burden of circumcision will not be imposed on them.

Misa de Confirmación para el Decanato Norte
Este año es especial, el Obispo Patrick J. Zurek tomó la
decisión de celebrar todas las confirmaciones en la Catedral
St. Mary en Amarillo. La Misa será el Sabado 21 de Mayo,
2016 a las 10:30am. Esta Misa será para las parroquias del
Decanato Norte. Nuestra Parroquia San Juan y Santa Ana
pertenecen a este Decanato.

EL DON DE PAZ
Se nos ofrece una visión distinta en la segunda lectura de hoy, una visión de la Nueva Jerusalén, “que descendía del
cielo, resplandeciente con la gloria de Dios” (Apocalipsis 21:10). Si buscamos el significado detrás de la descripción de la
radiante ciudad, vemos que la belleza mayor que se revela es la belleza de una perfecta armonía y orden, una ciudad fundada
en la fe de las doce tribus de Israel y los doce Apóstoles, alumbrada únicamente por la gloria de Dios.
La primera lectura y el Evangelio también van conectados a esta descripción idealizada de la Nueva Jerusalén. En ambos
leemos como la angustia y los altercados se contrarrestan con el don de la paz. “Mi paz les doy”, les asegura Jesús a sus
discípulos en la Última Cena (Juan 14:27). De acuerdo con ese don, los apóstoles y presbíteros, en la lectura de los Hechos,
deciden no alterar la paz de los nuevos creyentes gentiles. No han de imponerles la excesiva carga de la circuncisión.
