ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL
Our sincere thanks for your generosity during the 2014 Annual Catholic Appeal. Your gifts and pledges will
have a lasting impact on our ability to serve the People of God here in Brooklyn and Queens.
As of December 1st our parish had 194 pledges for a total of $63,668 which represents 118% of our parish
goal ($53,901). Of this amount, $62,050 has already been paid. Your generosity is crucial to providing vital
pastoral, charitable and educational ministries throughout the Diocese and all gifts, great or small, help us to do
God’s work. We thank ALL who have pledged so far and urge every family to make an effort to support the Appeal.
All pledges must be FULLY PAID by December 31ST! REMEMBER THAT ALL MONIES RECEIVED OVER
THE GOAL WILL BE RETURNED TO THE PARISH AND WILL ASSIST US IN MEETING OUR MANY EXPENSES. It is still not too late to give a gift to this year’s appeal. WE STILL NEED 48 ADDITONAL PLEDGES
TO EQUAL LAST YEAR’S TOTAL OF 242. PLEASE HELP US!
On the weekend of December 27-28 we will have a SPECIAL second collection for the Annual Catholic
Appeal to enable those parishioners who have not yet given a gift to do so.
May God bless each one of us for responding to this call with so much enthusiasm and generosity!
PRO-LIFE CORNER –
We should know by now, 3,800 babies die each day from surgical abortion. But
tens of thousands of babies die each day due to chemical abortions, the majority of which are caused
by the so-called “pill” which is an abortifacient. Many women on the pill have an abortion early on in
their pregnancy and are not even aware of this tragic event.
FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
Dear Parishioners,
Today we celebrate the Third Sunday of Advent, which the Church’s tradition has referred to as
Gaudete Sunday, from the Latin word that means “Rejoice.” The Liturgy reminds us that the Joy of the
Christmas Feast is drawing near, as once again we will celebrate the birth of Our Savior and His abiding
presence among us, which is surely a reason to “Rejoice!”
Once again I wish to thank you for the tremendous effort so many of you have shown in keeping
your commitment to financially support our parish community. Thanks to your generosity our income has
begun to increase. I am grateful for your spirit of sacrifice and good stewardship and I encourage all
parish families to join in this important effort. God bless you!
Msgr. Mahoney
Queridos Feligreses:
Salud!
Mons. Mahoney
