Grandparents’ Day
Ms. Alena Beasley’s art work on display
at local Catholic high school
Seven teaching artists from Miami and Broward have been selected to exhibit their work
at Archbishop Curley Notre Dame Prep’s Second Annual Teaching Artist Exhibit titled
“Art Transforms Lives.”
Ms. Alena Beasley, OLL Art Teacher, will be displaying several of her pieces. The exhibit
opens on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 7 pm at the ACND Gallery of Art at Archbishop Curley
Notre Dame Prep, 4949 NE 2nd Ave, Miami (for more information, please call
305-751-8367, or visit acnd.net). The exhibit runs through October 1 and is free with
RSVP to [email protected].
6th and 7th Grade Students Make Discoveries
By using sand, soil, mustard seeds and water to make a terrarium, sixth grade students
investigated how all four of earth’s spheres are connected. Seventh graders tested to see
if celery sticks had any traits of a living organism when placed in water with food coloring. Students concluded that the celery sticks do due to the fact that it used its energy to
soak up the food coloring.

Dear Father Alvarez, Fr. Lambert, Parish Staff and Parishioners,
What at wonderful sendoff! Many thanks for the very special farewell
liturgy, the gift of the beautiful watch and the joyful reception for my
retirement.
A special thanks to all those who worked so hard to prepare and carry out the
beautiful reception.
Most of all I thank the Lord for allowing me to walk among you and your loved
ones these past seventeen years. Thank you for sharing the deepest part of yourselves with me. You have inspired me with your deep faith and courage in the face
of great difficulties and heavy burdens the Lord has asked you to carry. You have
been such a blessing to me.
To those who ministered to the sick and homebound on the Pastoral Care Team,
those who faithfully sent greeting and condolence cards, those who made
Thanksgiving dinner for the elderly possible, the volunteers who sorted and
packed toys at Christmas, and the committee members who served the New
Horizons group I say thank you. Without your support I could never have done
what needed to be done.
As I put on my cowgirl hat and set out on the next part of my journey I
carry you all in my heart and keep you in my prayer. Please remember me
