To My WCHS Community,
It is with a heavy heart that I write this letter to my WCHS family. For the
past six years, three years as principal, it has been an honor to serve the
WCHS community. I have dedicated my life to WCHS. After much
thought, I have decided to move on in my life to spend more time with my
family and reconnect with my friends. I will end my role as principal this
summer.
I am grateful to have had the opportunity to share my love of learning with
you and your children. I never dreamed I could reap as many rewards as I
have in the past six years watching your children grow. I will cherish these
last months of school, and I will always be a part of the WCHS community.
Thank you for all of your support and the opportunity to be the principal of
such a great school! WCHS will always hold a place in my heart.

MessagefromtheBoardofTrustees
Dear WCHS Family,
As you are aware our principal, Ms. Kathleen Gaffney, told the Board
last month that she will be leaving this summer.
We were saddened to hear the news but understand that Ms. Gaffney
wants to spend more time with her own family and friends. We appreciate the time she has devoted to our school. She came to us in August 2010 as the Director of Special Education for all three schools in
the Believe Network, which included WCHS. She became the full time
Director of Special Education of WCHS in 2011. In July of 2013 we
asked her to be principal. She was chosen for her hallmark qualities of
being a listener, being positive and her appreciation for all types of
learners. She has served this school community well and we are thriving under her leadership.
Plans for someone to fill Ms. Gaffney’s shoes are underway; this is no
easy task. Our counsel, Ellen Eagen, will be leading the search and if
you are interested in being involved in the process, please contact her
at [email protected].
Teachers, staff, administration, students and parents will assist the
Board in picking our next leader. However, keep in mind that the principal is one piece of our administration. The Principal works with the Assistant Principal of Instruction and the Assistant Principal of Student
Support Services, in addition to all of the wonderful leaders and members of our staff. There is no doubt that the next principal will find wonderful support in the leadership at our school.
In the next few weeks, please join me in celebrating Ms. Gaffney.
Come in and say a word of thanks, give a hug or share a dance. It is
rare to find such an optimistic leader as Ms. Gaffney and we were very
lucky to have her joy in our halls these many years.

Para mi Comunidad de la WCHS,
Le escribo esta carta a mi familia de la WCHS con el corazón entristecido.
Ha sido un honor servir a la comunidad de la WCHS por los últimos seis
años, tres como Directora. He dedicado mi vida a la WCHS. Después de
pensarlo mucho, he decidido seguir adelante con mi vida para pasar más
tiempo con mi familia y reconectar con mis amigos. Este verano terminaré
con mi papel de Directora.
Agradezco la oportunidad que tuve para compartir mi amor por el aprendizaje con ustedes y sus hijos. Estimada Familia de la WCHS,
Como usted sabe nuestra directora, la Sra. Kathleen Gaffney, le comunicó a la Junta Directiva el mes pasado que se irá este verano.
Nos entristece escuchar esta noticia pero entendemos que la Sra.
Gaffney quiere pasar más tiempo con su familia y sus amigos. Agradecemos el tiempo que le dedicó a nuestra escuela. Ella comenzó en
agosto del 2010 como la Directora de Educación Especial para las
tres escuelas de la Red Believe, la cual incluyó a la WCHS. Se convirtió en la Directora de Educación Especial de tiempo completo en el
2011. Le pedimos en julio del 2013 que sea la Directora. La elegimos
por sus cualidades distintivas de ser una oyente, ser positiva, y su
aprecio por todo tipo de estudiante. Ella ha servido a nuestra comunidad escolar y estamos prosperando bajo su liderazgo.
Los planes para reemplazar a la Sra. Gaffney están en marcha; la tarea no es fácil. Nuestra abogada, Ellen Eagen, dirigirá a la búsqueda y

Es muy raro encontrar a un líder tan optimista como la Sra. Gaffney y
