August 10, 2014 19th Sunday i n Ordinary Time Prayer for the Assumption of Mary 1883-2014 Father in heaven, all creation rightly gives you praise, for all life and all holiness come from you. In the plan of your wisdom she who bore the Christ in her womb was raised body and soul in glory to be with him in heaven. May we follow her example in reflecting your holiness and join in her hymn of endless love and praise. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Pastor: Reverend G. An attention-getting tool in a disorderly classroom is to whisper. When your world gets chaotic, do you listen for the “tiny whispering sound” Elijah heard? Does the contrast stop you in your tracks and make you wonder? As a follower of Christ, you are a member of a holy people responsible for paying attention to the “whisper” of truth, justice, kindness, and peace. Do you doubt? Do you suffer? Are you afraid? In life’s disruptions, do you pay attention to the calm or the storm? Peace is yours, through Christ the Lord. ST. JOSEPH’S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH page 2 MASS INTENTIONS FROM THE PASTOR ... My Dear Parish Family, Years ago, the young boy in Oliver asked the musical question, “Where is love?” Today, we might offer a variation whenever shocking events rock our world – “Where is God?” when an earthquake or tsunami destroy, or warring factions blow each other to pieces? Where is God in a world where so many little ones die of hunger and neglect. Why is free will given to evil people as well as good? Not to be completely negative, but there are many of us who are ready and willing to see God present in the heroic actions of first responders and firefighters who rush to rescue others in times of need, peacekeepers and chaplains who enter arenas of danger to offer help. Is that where God is? Well, actually, I believe God is everywhere. In the good times and the bad times. He is in the craziness as well as the quiet, because he made a promise to us that he would be with us always. And God keeps his promises. I have always loved the quote from Psalm 46: Be still and know that I am God. It is so important for us to be still, find the quiet and experience the abiding presence of our God. Remember our Lady’s Feast of the Assumption which we celebrate this Thursday evening and Friday. Check the Mass schedule to see which Mass you will be attending. May God bless you all. Fr. JOSEPH’S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH page 7 HORARIO DE MISAS MENSAJE DEL PASTOR … Fr.
