Step outside the limits
The Feast of the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed, commonly known
as All Souls Day, is the day the church has set aside to pray for everyone who has
died. All Souls, however, is not only for the benefit of those who have gone before
us. For the living it is an invitation to shift our attention away from the limits of
ordinary time (past, present, and future) toward a spiritual concept of time—that is,
God’s time: the eternal now. As we do that, daily annoyances, minor crises, doubts,
fears, and worries begin to dissolve, and we notice the enormousness of the human
experience. Practice taking the long view. What changes?

MASS INTENTIONS
FROM THE
PASTOR
...
My Dear Parish Family,
Somewhere along my journey in life, I came to realize how
important it is to live with a grateful heart. I don’t quite
know when this was revealed to me. Maybe it was on
vacation, I’m not sure. I do know that almost everywhere I
have traveled on this earth I have had a conscious moment
of thanking God for the blessing to experience whatever
sight or culture before me. A grateful heart is a good organ
to have in this world of ours.
Every day I am reminded of God’s presence in so many
people I meet and in the circumstances I find myself. I have
been informing you of some family issues lately. Since I
wrote last week’s letter, and before it was published, my
brother John went home to God after battling cancer for
over ten years. Although he worked up until just a couple
weeks ago and seemed fine, that devil cancer finally took
over, but he didn’t win because I am certain that my brother
has, through the loving mercy of God, found his heavenly
reward. I am grateful for every memory I have of my
brother. And I am grateful for the fact that my mother,
because of her limitations from Alzheimer’s, is blissfully
unaware of John’s passing and does not have to bear the
awful pain of burying her child.
I am thankful for being spared any injury in a motor
vehicle accident which occurred last Friday as I was returning
from my brother’s house. A driver jumped a red light,
crossed over oncoming traffic and smacked into me as I
tried to avoid him. No one was injured and a young
Orthodox Jewish man who saw it all came to my defense as
he bore witness to the attending Lakewood Police officer.
Apart from a banged up front quarter panel, all is good. I am
thankful.
As we celebrate the memory of so many who have gone
before us on this All Souls day, let us give God thanks and
praise.
Last, I am so thankful for this wonderful parish family—
for your prayers and concerns, your generosity of spirit and
the many kindnesses extended to me and my family at this
time. As we celebrate the memory of so many who have
gone before us on this All Souls day, let us give God thanks
and praise.
God bless you all.

HORARIO DE MISAS
MENSAJE DEL
PASTOR …
a Dios nadie salió lastimado.
Gracias a
a Dios.
