The parable of the Good Samaritan, which St. Luke’s gospel presents
us today, gives us a clear example of how we are to live the law of
charity, of loving God and our neighbor.

In order to convince us that it is not enough to proclaim by word
what we accept by faith, to prove that charity and love of God must
go beyond poetic beauty, Jesus replies to a doctor of the Law, who
parrots the text of the commandment: “Well said. Do this and you
shall live.” Therefore, it’s not enough to know, to preach or to teach.
We must act; we must do, we must practice works of love and
mercy. And just so that there is no doubt on how to do this, Jesus
uses an imaginary story, one that is easy to understand by anyone, he
tells us the story of the Good Samaritan.

La parábola del buen samaritano que hoy leemos en el evangelio de san
Lucas nos pone en claro como debemos vivir en concreto la ley de la
caridad, el amor a Dios y a nuestros hermanos.
Para convencernos de que no basta hablar ni proclamar de palabra lo que
aceptamos por la fe, para probarnos que la caridad y el amor de Dios son
algo más que poesía, Jesús respondió a un doctor de la Ley que repetía
como un veradero maestro el texto del mandamiento del amor: “Bien
dicho. Haz esto y tendrás la vida”. O sea, que no basta saber, ni predicar
ni enseñar. Hay que actuar, hacer, practicar obras de amor y de
misericordia. Y para que no quedara ninguna duda de cómo practicar el
mandamiento primero, Jesús usa una historia imaginaria, una figura fácil
de entender por cualquier persona, por poco que sea: usa la parábola del
buen samaritano.

June 29. Veneration started with 8 o’clock Mass and continued throughout the day,
followed by a bilingual Mass and anointing of the sick. May we be blessed with this visit.

The Jubilee of Mercy
El Jubileo de la Misericordia
The Church lives within the communion of the saints. In the
Eucharist, this communion, which is a gift from God, becomes a
spiritual union binding us to the saints and blessed ones whose
number is beyond counting (cf. Rev 7:4). Their holiness comes to the
aid of our weakness in a way that enables the Church, with her maternal prayers and
her way of life, to fortify the weakness of some with the strength of others…To gain
an indulgence is to experience the holiness of the Church, who bestows upon all the
fruits of Christ’s redemption, so that God’s love and forgiveness may extend
everywhere.

July 11, St. Benedict of Nursia, the patron saint
of Europe and students, is often called the founder
of western monasticism. Author of the "Rule of
Saint Benedict", the Rule has a unique spirit of
balance, moderation and reasonableness and has
been adopted by many religious communities.
Julio 11, San Benito de Nursia, considerado el
iniciador de la vida monástica en Occidente, fundó la
orden de los benedictinos. Es venerado como patrón de
Europa. Autor de la llamada “Regla de San Benito” que
ha sido inspiración para muchas otras comunidades
religiosas.
July 14, St. Kateri Tekakwitha was born near the town of
Auriesville, New York. She was baptized at the age of
twenty and incurred the great hostility of her tribe. She
lived a life dedicated to prayer, penitential practices, and
care for the sick and aged. She was devoted to the Eucharist
and to Jesus Crucified. Known as the "Lily of the Mohawks",
she is the first Native American to be declared a Saint.
Julio 14, Santa Kateri Tekakwitha. Nacida cerca a
Auriesville, Nueva York, fue bautizada a los 20 años de edad,
incurriendo la hostilidad de toda su tribu. Vivió una vida dedicada
a la oración, la penitencia y el cuidado de los enfermos y
ancianos. Fue muy devota de la Eucaristía y de Jesús Crucificado.
Murió el 17 de abril de 1680 a los 24 años. Se le conoce como

The works of mercy / Las obras de misericordia
In his Wednesday audiences, the Holy Father has talked extensively about the works of
mercy. “The mother Church teaches us to be close to those who have been abandoned and
who die lonely. This is what Mother Teresa did in the streets of Calcutta and it is what
many Christians, those who are not afraid to take the hand of those who are about to leave
this world, have done and continue to do. And here too, mercy offers peace to those
