I would like to open by thanking all of you who attended
Curriculum Night on January 29th. It was a success and a
wonderful opportunity for families to discover what students are
learning this quarter. Thanks to our super staff in making it a
great night.
Once again, we conducted our Achievement Assemblies for all
grades. It was fantastic to award so many students for meeting
and exceeding the standards on the Second Quarter Galileo
test. I’d like to thank all parents and family members who
attended. Your attendance shows your child how important they
are to you, and how you support their learning!
In addition, students were recognized for perfect attendance
during the second quarter of school. It’s not only important to
be present every day, but also on time. Please continue to
bundle your students in warm clothes as we continue with
cooler weather.
Teachers continue to select students for the Student of the
Month award. These students show great character and
leadership, make good choices and strive for excellence in their
learning. They regularly demonstrate the three Be’s: Be safe,
Be Responsible and Be Respectful.
Remember students, if you are having a problem with another
student and you can’t solve the problem on your own, please let
an adult on campus help you. Don’t try to solve the problem at
recess or on the way home.
As we continue moving through our year, please encourage
your child to continue working hard. The growth in
achievement has been tremendous!

A Note from the School Nurse
As some of you may already know, we are currently
experiencing an outbreak of head lice. I am doing my very
best to seek out those students that have head lice and send
them home. This is affecting many families. My
sympathies go out to all of you. The Cartwright School
District has a zero nit policy in place. This means that if
even one nit (lice egg) is found in your child's hair, they
will be sent home. Students are will not be allowed to
return to school until they are checked by the nurse, and
given a note that they are okay to return to class. Parents
please help us and check your kids before sending them to
school with head lice or nits and then simply call in and
report their absence so it is excused. If anyone needs help
recognizing what knits and lice look like I would be more
than willing to help.

Me gustaría empezar agradeciéndoles a todos los que
asistieron a la noche de currículo en enero 29. Fue todo un
éxito y una oportunidad maravillosa para que las familias se
enteraran de lo que los estudiantes van a aprender este
periodo. Gracias a nuestro súper personal por haberla hecho
una gran noche.
Una vez mas, hicimos nuestras asambleas de logros para
todos los grados. Fue fantástico premiar a tantos estudiantes
por alcanzar y exceder los estándares en el examen de Galileo
del segundo periodo. Quiero agradecerle a todos los padres y
familiares que asistieron. Su asistencia le demuestra a sus
hijos que son muy importantes para usted, y que usted apoya
su aprendizaje.
Además, los estudiantes fueron reconocidos por asistencia
perfecta durante el segundo periodo de clases. No solo es
importante estar presente todos los días, pero también llegar a
tiempo. Por favor continúe enviando a sus hijos en ropa cálida,
a medida que continuamos con el clima frío.
Los maestros siguen seleccionando estudiantes para el premio
del estudiante del mes. Estos estudiantes muestran un gran
carácter y liderazgo, toman buenas decisiones y siempre le
apuntan a la excelencia en su aprendizaje. Regularmente
demuestran las tres Be’s: Estar seguro, ser responsable y ser
respetuoso.
Estudiantes: Recuerden que si tienen un problema con otro
estudiante y no pueden resolverlo por si solos, por favor dejen
que un adulto de la escuela los ayude. No traten de resolver el
problema durante el descanso o rumbo a casa.
A medida que el año sigue, por favor motive a su hijo/a a que
siga trabajando duro. El crecimiento en los logros ha sido
tremendo.

Nota de la Enfermera
Como algunos de ustedes saben, actualmente estamos
pasando por una temporada difícil de piojos. Estoy
haciendo todo lo posible buscando a los estudiantes que
tienen piojos y enviándolos a casa. Esto está afectando
muchas familias. Lo lamento mucho. Las pólizas del
Distrito de Cartwright no toleran estas situaciones. Esto
significa que si un liendre (el huevo del piojo), es
encontrado en el pelo de su hijo/a, se enviarán a casa. Los
estudiantes no podrán volver a la escuela hasta que sean
revisados por la enfermera, y se les de una nota que diga
que sí pueden volver al salón. Padres: por favor ayúdenos
revisando a sus hijos antes de enviarlos a la escuela con
liendres o piojos, y simplemente llame a reportar su
ausencia, para que pueda ser excusada. Si alguien necesita
ayuda reconociendo como se ven los liendres o piojos, yo
les puedo ayudar.
