Fear seized them all, and they glorified God...’” Luke 7:15-16 — PASTOR REFLECTION I n today’s liturgy, we leave behind the great events of the past few months Easter, Ascension, Pentecost, Holy Trinity, Corpus Christi - great moments of faith for all of us. Now we enter what the Church calls “Ordinary Time.” It’s an unfortunate title because it gives the impression that what we celebrate from now on is “ordinary,” not important. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, these Sundays of Ordinary Time may be some of the most important moments of our year. Although the major moments and events gather large crowds and call for added ceremony and solemnity, Ordinary Time offers us the gift of grace to LIVE the great moments each and every day in the ordinary day-to-day living of our lives. Let’s embrace this Ordinary Time for what it really means - time to allow the great teaching of our faith: Resurrection, forgiveness, love, unity, faith, to be such in our every day experiences in life. So, let us also be mindful of our “spiritual fathers” as well, our priests, especially our retired priests. It is through God’s generosity that we have been blessed with these dedicated and faithful servants; priests whom the entire Church can be proud of. A special way to acknowledge them and to express our gratefulness is to support the “Annual Father’s Day Collection.” It is our way to say thank you and to show our continued concern and love for them. Many of these generous servants such as Msgr. Anthony Janelli and Fr. Jose Luis Varo who assist at The Catholic Church of Visalia, are still helping where and when they can, in various parishes of the diocese. Together, let us make this the best year ever in support of our beloved retired diocesan priests. EXCITING CHANGES AT GEORGE MCCANN CATHOLIC SCHOOL!
