A Letter from Our Pastor
The Joy of Love
Pope Francis recently released
his latest encyclical, The Joy of Love (in Latin:
Amoris Laetitia). The encyclical was the fruit of
the Synod on the Family held last year. The
specifics of the encyclical deal with the gift of Love
in the Family. An encyclical is the highest level of
Papal teaching. It is a teaching which is meant for
the entire Church, and, essentially, the entire world.
One section of the encyclical deals with the issue
of Love in Marriage. I would like to share some
thoughts with you regarding this area of love. Pope
Francis uses St Paul's familiar Letter to the
Corinthians, the section dealing with love and
fidelity which is often read at weddings. As he
points out, one aspect is that "Love is
patient". According to the Pope, "This does not
have to do with enduring all things. It refers, then to
the quality of one who does not act on impulse and
avoids giving offense." (#91). As in all aspects of
love in our lives, we find this embodied in the love
God shows for us, His people.
Love is also "kind". Kindness, according to classic
definition, benefits others. Love is placed at the
service of others. This is true kindness. The Pope
elaborates, "Throughout the text, it is clear that
Paul wants to stress that love is more than a mere
feeling.” Or, as St Ignatius of Loyola stated, "Love
is shown more by deeds than by words."
"Love is not jealous". Love inspires a sincere
esteem for every human being and their good
fortune. Envy has no place in true love. "Love is not
boastful". Love is marked by humility; if we are to
understand, forgive and serve others from the
heart, our pride has to be healed and our humility
must increase.
This is just the tip of the iceberg. Love is also not
rude and not resentful. Love is generous; it
forgives, rejoices with others, bears all things,
believes all things, hopes all things and endures all
things. St Paul did a beautiful job of describing the
gift of love, especially in its conjugal sense. Pope
Francis further elaborates what this gift of God
means for us and for our families. I would
encourage you to read the full encyclical, reflect
upon it and take it to prayer.
There is an old song from the 60s: What the World
Needs Now. This song came about during the
tumultuous time of Vietnam and Civil Rights
struggles. But its message, as well as the Pope’s,
resonates today in a world desperately in need of
an awareness of God's life-giving love for all.

Discuss the Readings for Next Sunday — Corpus Christi, The Body and Blood of Christ —

On Corpus Christ Sunday we focus on and celebrate the Eucharist presence of Jesus — a banquet with Him
and a participation in His life, death and resurrection.
Genesis 14:18–20 Melchizedek was a “priest of God Most High” who blessed Abram (Abraham) with bread and wine. This
priesthood is a model of Christ’s high priesthood, a priesthood not according to the hereditary Jewish priests of the Temple,
but “of God Most High”. Bread and wine signify divine nourishment and enlivening.
Psalm 110:1–4 This is a royal psalm commemorating the king as also a priest: “You are a priest forever, according to the
order of Melchizedek”. And so are all Christians baptized “priest, prophet, and king”, and our ordained priests as well, in a
more specific sense.
First Corinthians 11:23–26 Paul is recounting the institution of the Eucharist at the Last Supper. Christ’s body and blood in
the bread and wine offered first by Christ and then by presbyters in remembrance of Him “to proclaim the death of the Lord
until he comes”.
Gospel of Luke 9:11–17 The living bread come down from heaven is who Jesus is for us. The Lord and the 12, the
Apostles, were able to feed the multitude in the desert, “to give them some food themselves”. And still today we all eat and
are satisfied at our deepest levels by the Eucharistic meal, the banquet on earth that foretells the banquet in the Kingdom of
Heaven we are all destined for. Has this great event and mystery become routine in any way for you?

Harvest of Hope Pantry at the Bolder Boulder
Harvest of Hope is right on the race course and May 30’s
an opportunity to bring awareness to the Pantry’s mission.
Help out on Memorial Day and see what volunteering is all

Boy Scout ranks!

Carta de Nuestro Pastor
La alegría del amor (Amoris Laetitia)
El Papa Francisco lanzo recientemente su última encíclica titulada, "La alegría del amor " (ó
Amoris Laetitia en latín). La encíclica fue el fruto del Sínodo sobre la Familia celebrada el año pasado.
Los detalles del acuerdo de la encíclica con el don del Amor en la familia. Un recordatorio de que una
"encíclica" es el nivel más alto de la enseñanza papal. Es una enseñanza que está destinada para toda la
Iglesia, y, esencialmente, el mundo entero.
Un apartado de la encíclica con el tema de "El amor en el matrimonio". Me gustaría compartir
algunas reflexiones con respecto a esta área del amor. El Papa Francisco utiliza la carta de Pablo a los
Corintios, la sección que trata con amor y fidelidad que a menudo se lee en las bodas. Como él señala, un
aspecto es que "El amor es paciente". Según el Papa, "Esto no tiene que ver con aguantar todas las cosas.
Se refiere, a continuación, a la calidad de uno que no actúa de manera impulsiva y evita ofender." (# 91).
Al igual que en todos los aspectos del amor en nuestras vidas, nos encontramos con esta plasmada en el
amor que Dios nos da, a Su pueblo.
El amor también es "Amable". La bondad, de acuerdo con la definición clásica beneficia y ayuda a
los demás. El amor se pone al servicio de los demás. Esto es bondad verdadera. El Papa explica: "A lo
largo del texto, es evidente que Pablo quiere hacer hincapié en que el amor es más que un mero
sentimiento. O, como San Ignacio de Loyola declaró," El amor se demuestra con hechos más que con
palabras ".
"El amor no es celoso". El amor inspira una sincera estima para cada ser humano y de su buena
suerte. La envidia no tiene cabida en el amor verdadero. "El amor no es jactancioso". El amor está
marcado por la humildad; si queremos comprender, perdonar y servir a los demás desde el corazón,
nuestro orgullo ha de ser curado y nuestra humildad debe aumentar.
Esto es sólo la punta del iceberg. El amor es también: generoso, sufrido, perdona, no es grosero, se
goza con los demás, todo lo sufre, todo lo cree, todo lo espera y todo lo soporta. San Pablo hizo un gran
trabajo de describir el don del amor, sobre todo en su sentido conyugal. El Papa Francisco elabora aún
más lo que significa este regalo de Dios para nosotros y para nuestras familias. Les animo a leer la
encíclica completa, reflexionar sobre ella, y llevarla a la oración. Hay una vieja canción de los años 60,
"Lo que el mundo necesita ahora". Esta canción se produjo durante el tiempo tumultuoso de las luchas de
derechos civiles y Vietnam. Sin embargo, su mensaje, así como los Papas resuena hoy para un mundo
desesperadamente necesitado de una conciencia de amor que da la vida de Dios para todos.

Sueldo de participantes y aprendices
Ofrecemos un sueldo a cada joven que complete las horas que le
corresponden. El sueldo para Participantes (edades 14-19) que son nuevos al
programa es $450 por el verano. Participantes que están regresando por
segundo año reciben un pago de $500 por el verano. Aprendices (edades 1213) que son nuevos al programa recibirán $100 por el verano. Aprendices que
regresan por segundo año recibirán $110 por el verano. Cualquier Participante
o Aprendices que cumple todos sus turnos con la excepción de tres recibirán
un pago adicional de $50 como bonus al fin del verano. Se paga el tercio del
sueldo la semana del 15 de Julio, otro tercio la semana del 15 de Agosto y el
último tercio será mandado por correo el primero de Noviembre.

un proyecto voluntario durante el verano. Los jóvenes involucrados se
acostumbrarán a relacionarse con el ambiente, promover la agricultura vecinal
y sostenible y aprender como cultivar su propia comida. Proveerlos con
habilidades útiles para la vida, habilidades de negocio, habilidades
interpersonales y oportunidades empresariales.
Desde el 10 de Agosto hasta el 26 de Octubre los participantes trabajarán 4
turnos entre la cosecha y la distribución del CSA. El horario de la cosecha será
los martes de las 4:00 hasta las 7:00 de la tarde. La distribución del CSA tendrá
lugar los miércoles de las 4:00 hasta las 7:00 de la tarde.

Español, En el Jubilee Hall.
Tendremos Fiesta de agradecimientos y despedida para Padre Warli Castro, A seguir
sembrando semillas del Reino allá donde ha sido destinado.
Los diferentes Grupos parroquiales de la comunidad hispana en Sagrado Corazón de Jesús
traerán platillos para compartir y queremos que la comunidad también nos acompañen
compartiendo con el Padre Warli. Habrá una canasta para depositar Tarjetas de
agradecimiento y donaciones.
