Friendship Bracelets - Children`s Museum of Houston
Self Esteem Friendship Bracelets Take time to do this activity with your child and get to know her better. While you are making the bracelets, talk about school, friends and family members. Don’t forget to share what is happening in your life as well as listen to what is happening in hers. This special time you have with your child will contribute to her positive self esteem. What your child will do Make a friendship bracelet. What you need •Fruit Loops® •Chenille sticks (or string) What you do 1. Talk about your bracelet and what you want it to look like. 2. String your cereal pieces on the pipe cleaners using any pattern you wish. 3. Talk to each other while you are creating. 4. Connect the ends together to make a bracelet. 5. Give your bracelet to a friend. Questions to ask Tell me about the plan for your bracelet. What kind of pattern did you make? Who is your best friend now? Is that who you are going to give your bracelet to? What is new at school? For parents Some children demand attention from their parents while others are less demanding. All children need their parents attention and to really be listened to. Listening while you are doing the dishes is not the same kind of listening as sitting down and doing an activity with your child. Sit down often with your child, do an activity with her and really listen. Self esteem comes from feeling good about yourself and a child feels more secure and loved after spending quality time with a parent. Para los niños is generously funded by Target, the Institute of Museum and Library Services, The Powell Foundation The Brown Foundation and Bank of America. Para los niños está generosamente financiado por Target, el Institute of Museum and Library Services, The Powell Foundation, The Brown Foundation y Bank of America.
