Thank you so much for your support and generosity! From the Pastor: It was a terrible and senseless act of killing 49 people and injuring more than
50 in Orlando, Florida, recently! Of course, we know that the shooting happened in a well-known
gay dance club. I would like to address the existence of a culture of hatred and condemnation
which often leads to an acceptance of violence against gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered
persons.
Recognizing that you are homosexual is not the same as recognizing that you are sinful. To be human
is to be tempted toward sin and evil. Human beings, in their weakness and selfishness fall to temptation
and sin. One’s sexual orientation does not make one more or less sinful. Are homosexual people more or
less sinful than heterosexual people? If this is your first question then you have started down a failed path.
“For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to
you. Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your
own eye?” (Matthew 7:1-3)
Here are some words I have heard said: “They are sinners! They deserved to die.” As soon as the word
“they” is spoken, we must become alert for the ways by which some people divide and separate for the
sake of distancing themselves from others. On the contrary, in Paul’s letter to the Galatians as we heard on
Sunday, June 19th, Paul speaks of those who have been baptized. We have put on Christ! Thus, there exists no difference between Jew and Greek, slave or free, male or female. Putting on Christ unites us to others even when they have not been baptized, even if they sin. So, “we” must not condemn “them” but rather
welcome our sisters and brothers. By our baptism we are united with all, saints and sinners.
We are one even before we are different. And of course, if we do evil, if we have sinned even once, we
must admit that we are one in our need for reconciliation, one in our vulnerability. We are one in our need
for God’s forbearance, God’s forgiveness, and God’s mercy. Neither “somewhat evil” nor “somewhat
good” is “perfect.” Therefore, let us not fall to the temptation to judge and condemn. Instead, let us look to
know and to understand and to be ONE!

Community of Saint Paul — Mission Appeals 2016

This year our parish will receive Dennis Beltré from the Community of Saint Paul. Dennis has been a member of the
CSP for over seven years, and is working in the CSP’s pastoral and development work in La Sagrada Familia Parish,
close to the border with Hai . He is also finishing his studies in philosophy and humani es in the capital, Santo
Domingo.
On the weekend of Saturday, July 9 and Sunday, July 10, Dennis will share some of the Community of Saint Paul’s
work in the Dominican Republic and invite us to par cipate in it through our generosity and support.
The Community of Saint Paul (CSP) is small interna onal missionary group in the Catholic Church currently working
in missions in Bolivia, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Colombia and Ethiopia. It is a Public Associa on of the
Faithful in the Catholic Church, made up of priests and lay men and women from various countries. Besides the
aforemen oned missions, it is also present Spain and has its headquarters in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.
Wherever they are present, the members of the Community of Saint Paul strive to promote the integral
development of all so that they can discover their full human poten al and dignity as children of God, with a strong
sense of solidarity with those who are suffering, and a par cular sensi vity towards injus ce. They do so in
promo ng and carrying out the sacramental and pastoral work of the Church, as well as through a variety of
ongoing development programs.

Mensaje de Nuestro Párroco: ¡Fue un acto terrible el reciente asesinato de 49 personas además
de los más de 50 heridos en Orlando, Florida! Sabemos bien que el tiroteo sucedió en una disco
gay bien conocida. Me gustaría abordar la existencia de una cultura de odio y condenación la
cual frecuentemente lleva a la aceptación de la violencia en contra de personas gay, lesbianas,
bisexuales, y transexuales.
Reconocer que eres homosexual no es lo mismo que reconocer que eres un pecador. El ser humano es
confrontado por las tentaciones hacia el pecado y el mal. Los seres humanos, en su debilidad y egoísmo caen
en tentación y pecado. La orientación sexual no lo hace a uno más o menos pecador. A caso ¿son los
homosexuales más o menos pecadores que la gente heterosexual? Si esta es tu primera pregunta, entonces te
has dirigido sobre un camino hacia el fracaso. “Porque tal como juzguen se les juzgará, y con la medida que
midan a otros, se les medirá a ustedes. ¿Por qué te fijas en la astilla que tiene tu hermano en el ojo, y no le
das importancia a la viga que está en el tuyo? (Mateo 7:1-3).
Por ahí he escuchado: “¡Son pecadores! Merecen morir.” Al hablar de “ellos” debemos ser conscientes
de las maneras en las que algunas personas se dividen y separan con el fin de distanciarse a sí mismos de los
demás. Por el contrario, en la carta de Pablo a los Gálatas, como escuchamos el Domingo, 19 de Junio,
Pablo habla de esos que han sido bautizados. ¡Nos hemos revestido de Cristo! Por lo tanto, ya no existe
diferencia entre judíos y no judíos, entre esclavos y libres, entre varón y mujer. Revestirnos de Cristo nos
une a los demás aun cuando ellos no han sido bautizados, y aun si han pecado. Así pues, “nosotros” no
podemos condenarlos a “ellos” sino que debemos dar la bienvenida a nuestras hermanas y hermanos. Por
nuestro bautismo estamos unidos con todos, santos y pecadores.
Somos uno aun antes de ser diferentes. Y claro, que si hacemos el mal, si hemos pecado aunque sea una
sola vez, debemos admitir que somos uno en nuestra necesidad de reconciliación, y uno en nuestra
vulnerabilidad. Somos uno en nuestra necesidad de la paciencia de Dios, el perdón de Dios, y la misericordia
de Dios. Ni ser “un poco malo” como tampoco ser “un poco bueno” significa “ser perfecto.” Por lo tanto, no
caigamos en la tentación de juzgar y condenar. En lugar de eso, tratemos de conocer y entender y ser ¡UNO!

Comunidad de San Pablo — Colecta para las Misiones 2016

Este año nuestra parroquia dará la bienvenida a Dennis Beltré de la Comunidad de San Pablo (CSP). Dennis ha sido
miembro de la CSP por 7 años, y ahora desempeña trabajo pastoral y desarrollo parroquial en la Parroquia La Sagrada Familia, cerca de la frontera con Hai . Él también está terminando sus estudios en filoso a y humanidades en la
capital de Santo Domingo.
El sábado 9 y domingo 10 de julio, Dennis compar rá más sobre la labor de la CSP en la Republica Dominicana, y
nos invitara a par cipar a través de su generosidad y apoyo.
La Comunidad de San Pablo es un grupo misionero pequeño en la Iglesia Católica y actualmente enen misiones en
Bolivia, Republica Dominicana, México, Colombia, y E opia. Esta es una Asociación Publica para los Fieles en la Iglesia
Católica y se compone de sacerdotes y hombres y mujeres laicos, de varios países. Además de las misiones ya mencionadas, también están presentes en España y enen una oficina central en la Arquidiócesis de Milwaukee.
A donde quiera que van, los miembros de la Comunidad de San Pablo se esfuerzan por promover el desarrollo integral de todos para que cada uno pueda descubrir todo su potencial y su dignidad como hijos de Dios, con un fuerte
sen do de solidaridad con los que sufren, y una sensibilidad en par cular hacia la injus cia. Esto se logra al promover
y realizar las labores pastorales y sacramentales de la Iglesia, al igual que a través de una variedad de programas de
desarrollo.
