SENIOR MINISTRY NEWS…
The annual Christmas Wish Tree campaign is under way and Your support is s ll needed.
This program focuses on those who are 60+, alone, home/facility bound, have a need or a
special wish, etc. Please keep in mind that the Holidays can be doubly difficult for those with
health issues, a recent loss, financial circumstances, etc.
We have added to the list of parishioners/individuals of whom we are aware that fit the criteria. Their first name, age, code number & gi request are labeled on a silver snowflake.
These ornaments are on the Senior Ministry’s annual “Christmas Wish Tree” set up in the
main lobby of the Cathedral. If you are able to help one of these less
fortunate individuals please take a snowflake, purchase a gi and return both to the Parish
Office or Bookstore before December 21st. Also, should you know of anyone who might fit
the criteria please contact Stephanie at 775-338-5557 or Ed at 775-240-0328 as soon as
possible and we will be sure to include their name on an ornament.
Thank you and may God bless you!

‘Gaudete
Sunday’
Today we light the pink candle on the Advent
wreath. Rose vestments are worn to emphasize our
joy that Christmas is near. Gaudete mean ‘rejoice’.
This day reminds us of the joy that is to come and
serves, amid this season of penance, as a kind of
‘break’ when we recall the hope we have because of
the coming of Our Lord Jesus.

A policeman in the big city stops a
man in a car with a baby bear in the
front seat. "What are you doing with
that bear?" He exclaimed, "You should
take it to the zoo."
The following week, the same
policeman sees the same man with
the bear again, both of them wearing
sunglasses. The policeman pulls him
over. "I thought you were going to take
that bear to the zoo!"
The man replied, "I did. We had such
a good time we are going to the beach
this weekend!"
We need about $9,000 to meet our target.
Let’s Make It Happen For Christmas.
Memorial Wall
A little over a year ago I asked the parish if you would like to have a
memorial wall behind the statue of Mary in the garden. This wall would be in
remembrance of the parishioners that are now with Our Lord in Heaven. As
many of you stop to visit our Blessed Mother Mary and say a short prayer you
could also pray for the souls of those honored on the wall.
This would be a tribute to the people who will be in our hearts forever
because they were part of our Cathedral community and its growth. The cost
is yet to be determined, the plaque would be a standard 4x7 inches.
Please provide names for those you would like to have remembered.
ENTRADA
Cantemos todos cantemos, cantemos con entusiasmo;
cantemos al rey del cielo que pronto vendrá a salvarnos.
Señor tu pueblo te espera, te espera con alegría; preparándonos estamos para cuando llegue el día.
Señor aquí estamos todos de rodillas hoy estamos;
pidiéndote Señor nuestro que vengas pronto a salvarnos.
SALMO
Grita de alegría, porque grande se ha portado contigo el Santo de Israel.
OFERTORIO
Alegría de esperar que está muy cercano el día, y en la carne de una virgen amanecerás Señor;
y en la carne de una virgen amanecerás Señor.
Nos va a brotar un renuevo que hará florecer la tierra;
se encuentran dolor y gracia, ven Señor, ven Señor Jesús.
Amanecerá tu luz y romperá las tinieblas; danos tu claridad, ven Señor, ven Señor Jesús.
Cuidaremos el camino para cuando al fin tú vengas;
vestido de nuestra carne, ven Señor, ven Señor Jesús.
COMUNIÓN
Amanecerá el Señor, sobre ti Jerusalén.
Amanecerá el Señor, amanecerá sobre ti Jerusalén. (2)
Sobre ti Jerusalén, amanecerá el Señor, amanecerá.
Levanta tu mirada, contempla tu grandeza, tu salvador, tu salvador te viene a liberar.
