THE LOGIC OF PREPARATION
PAGE 3
LA LÓGICA DE PREPARACIÓN
This weekend, our children who are receiving
their First Holy Eucharist in the spring are
blessed in our church as they are formally enrolled to this sacramental preparation. I see all
the logic in this simple rite. It teaches our children that receiving the Holy Eucharist is a big
deal, and that if we reflect deeply on whom we are receiving, we will really do take the preparation very seriously – how do we prepare to receive the Lord?
Enseña a
I would like to formally inform our church that Bishop
Daniel Conlon will be here at Saint Teresa for the weekend of December 19-21, to do his pastoral visit. He
came to Kankakee for the first time in 2011, when he
installed me as pastor of our church, and now he is set
to do his first official pastoral weekend visit here in our
church. Obviously, it is one of the busiest times of the
year, but we are preparing for it by creating a solid
schedule for his. He will be here to get to experience the
pastoral spirit of our church, and the true soul of our
church. I am very excited about his coming, because I
think he still does not have any idea what sort of stuff our
church is made of. So in this case, he better be prepared. (Smile.)
mueve a nuestra iglesia. Así que en éste caso, vale mas
que essté preparado. (Sonrisa.)
A few weeks ago, select members of the staff sat down
to look into the calendar for the next half of the year. By
doing this, we can prepare well for the events that are
ahead of us. Truly, one key element to the success of
the events that we do here at our parish, be it social
event or spiritual, is the preparation. Our Festival Team
can tell you exactly what I mean by preparation, because
they are experts in that area. I know that the success of
our festival is due to the investment of these parishioners
in the efficient and joyful preparation.
We are coming to the end of the liturgical calendar. If
you have not yet noticed, our readings have been very
much about preparing for the end, the coming of the
Lord. This message will continue to the beginning of the
Advent Season. I hope and pray that as a church, we
are preparing ourselves well to the fullness of the Kingdom that is promised to us. In the midst of the many funerals that we have done in these past few weeks and in
the coming months, let us not lose sight of the promise
that we will see them again in the Kingdom, and our lives
here in this earthly journey are supposed to prepare us
for that final and eternal reunion. Saint Teresa, keep
preparing for the things that matter in the end. Let us
use our time well.
God bless our church!
After the heart of Jesus,
Fr. Sunny Castillo
nuestro tiempo. Dios bendiga nuestra iglesia!
Siguiéndo el corazón de Jesús,
Padre Sunny Castillo

“Christ has no body now, but yours, No hands, no feet

Christ looks compassion into the world. Yours are the

Faith Matters Series #4—Word Made Flesh,
True Bread of Heaven
Tuesday, November 18, 6:00pm at church
**This will be the last presentation for the year. Take advantage of
the opportunity to learn more about your faith.
Father Barron explores the ancient practices of the Church’s
worship that endures to this very day, and the notion that all
value is summed up in the liturgy, the supreme act by which
we commune with God.
Considered by the Catholic Faith to be the “source and summit” of its identity and mission, the Eucharist is the central
practice of the Church’s culture. Father Barron describes all
the parts of the Mass, and shows how the Sacred Liturgy embodies the whole of the Faith in such diverse places as Jerusalem, Rome, Chicago, Orvieto and Mexico City.

A note from your Nurse: Whole Person Health—
Reduce Stress at the Holidays (2)
Are the holiday demands raising your stress levels? Here
are a few suggestions to help you. Laugh instead of cry.
Look for the lighter side of stressful situations. Count
your blessings every day. Remember: at the core of your
being, you are goodness and love! Develop an attitude
of gratitude. Start your day by saying, “I’m God’s powerful possibility!” If you make a mistake, don’t engage in
endless worry or negative self-talk. Keep in mind, only
you are in charge of your attitude.
