What is Catholic Schools Week? - Resurrection Catholic Community
What is Catholic Schools Week? The network of Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston invites you to celebrate Catholic education during National Catholic Schools Week: January 25th – January 31st. The theme of Catholic Schools Week 2015 is Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge, and Service. Catholic Schools Week is a time to celebrate the lasting gift of a Catholic education. During the week-long celebration, students and families in the community are invited to consider a Catholic school education, visit our schools and witness first-hand the difference a Catholic education makes. Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston welcome students of all backgrounds and faiths to experience a comprehensive education of mind, heart & spirit. Consider your student’s future a success story waiting to be written. Consider the possibilities and potential waiting to be realized. Choose a Catholic School! JANUARY 25, 2015 THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME F R OM O U R P A S T OR D E N U E S T R O P A R R OC O As a Catholic Church we strive to remain Faithful to our Lord and his plans for us. A central part of the plan is that we reflect his nature in the dignity and beauty of the human family. The very structure of the Family is marriage. The recent attempts to undo that structure pose a threat to our well-being and our understanding of the God-given gift of marriage, the complementarity of the sexes, and the rights of children to have a mother and a father. I wish to finish these thoughts with a quote from the chairman of the U.S. It’s hard to imagine how the essential meaning of marriage as between the two sexes, understood in our nation for over 200 years, and consistent with every society throughout all of human history, could be declared illegal. To those arguing for a constitutional redefinition of marriage, one must ask: when did the constitution suddenly mandate a novel and unfounded definition of marriage? To ask such a question is not a judgment on anyone. It is a matter of justice and truth. The central issue at stake is: what is marriage? The answer is: a bond which unites a man and a woman to each other and to any children who come from their union. Only a man and a woman can unite their bodies in a way that creates anew human being. Marriage is thus a unique and beautiful reality which a society respects to its benefit or ignores to its peril. Fr.
