Northgate Community,
I am so excited for the New Year and to be back at Northgate. I had a wonderful
time with my two month old son, Elliot, and it is wonderful to be back with all of
you. Please be sure to stop by with any questions, concerns, or just come and say
hello.
As we begin 2016, I want to put an important focus on ATTENDANCE. It is crucial
that your child be at school on time each and every school day. Their attendance
has a direct correlation to their overall performance in school and more specifically
in their literacy level and growth. Please contact one of the following staff members
if you need support in order to ensure that your child is at school on time every day.


Want to improve your English? Join the Northgate Parent ESL Class!
This class is taught by a North Seattle Community College ESL instructor and will
help with your English reading, writing, and speaking skills. Classes will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:00-4:30 pm, starting January 12th. This

Recess is an important part of
each student’s day
ALSO, if inclement weather makes it necessary to adjust our normal operating hours or
transportation services due to ice or snow, the
decision will be communicated through the
following methods:

from the district to parents or guardians
-The district's Twitter page
-Local media
And we will try to get out as much as we
can to play!

North Seattle College and Seattle Public Schools Head Start invite parents to create their parenting tool kitLearn how to: (1) Reduce power struggles (such as homework, chores, etc.), (2)
Minimize sibling rivalry, (3) Raise children who are responsible, respectful and
resourceful, (4) Be more effective as a parent and have fun in the process!

school year will be held on Jan 26 at
9:15 am & Jan 27 at 5:30 pm. If
your child will be 5 years old by August 31, 2016, then they would be
eligible to attend Kindergarten next
year.
