First Reading: Acts 1:1-11
In the first book, Theophilus, I dealt with all that Jesus did and taught until the day
he was taken up, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles
whom he had chosen. He presented himself alive to them by many proofs after he
had suffered, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom
of God. While meeting with them, he enjoined them not to depart from Jerusalem,
but to wait for “the promise of the Father about which you have heard me speak; for
John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”
When they had gathered together they asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to
restore the kingdom to Israel?” He answered them, “It is not for you to know the
times or seasons that the Father has established by his own authority. But you will
receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be my witnesses in
Jerusalem, throughout Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
When he had said this, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took
him from their sight. While they were looking intently at the sky as he was going,
suddenly two men dressed in white garments stood beside them. They said, “Men of
Galilee, why are you standing there looking at the sky? This Jesus who has been
taken up from you into heaven will return in the same way
as you have seen him going into heaven.”

From the Pastor • Del Pastor
Dear Friends,
Queridos Amigos:
When I arrived at St. Louise nearly two
years ago, parishioners freely shared with
me the history of the parish. One of the
stories that came up numerous times was
how great Ethnic Fest was. The person
would then often ask, “Do you think we
could have it again?” The answer is, “Yes!”
Entonces me
preguntaban: “Usted cree que podamos volver a tenerlo?” La
respuesta es: “Sí!”
Next Sunday, the Solemnity of Pentecost, we will celebrate the
return of the Ethnic Fest, 2:30-5:30PM, in the Parish Hall, after
an eight-year hiatus! What a perfect way to celebrate the birth
of the Church and the Holy Spirit leading the Apostles to preach
to all nations.
The mission of Ethnic Fest is to foster awareness,
understanding, and appreciation of the rich cultural diversity
present at St. Louise Parish, and to educate Parishioners on the
many cultures and traditions that are in our Parish.
The goals for Ethnic Fest are as follows:

Foster inclusion in our Parish.

Educate and build community.

Heighten awareness of the stewardship principles of
sharing time and talent.

Eat great food and have fun!!!
There will be display booths and performances by many of the
ethnic communities that make up St. Louise. Ethnic food
samples will be available at the display booths.
The Knights of Columbus will provide hot dogs for those that are
“Ethnic food challenged”. We don’t want to leave anyone out!
The St. Louise Youth Ministry will also provide beverages as a
fundraiser.
I look forward to seeing you there!
Fr. Gary Zender
PS
This Sunday, we welcome Archbishop Sartain who will be at the
1PM Mass, and Bishop Eusebio who will be at the 6PM Mass
to celebrate the Rite of Confirmation. Congratulations to our
youth! May the Holy Spirit dwell in your hearts always and
keep you strong in faith.

Felicidades a nuestros jóvenes!

Wear Red to Mass Next Weekend to
Celebrate Pentecost
MAY 14-15
Pentecost is the feast day when we
commemorate the Holy Spirit's
coming over the disciples in the
upper room, empowering the
community of believers to continue
God's work and share God's unifying
love.
Our Easter celebration comes to a resounding conclusion on this day,
the 50th day of Easter. Its red vesture, the color of the Holy Spirit,
recalls among other things the flame of the Spirit that burns in the
hearts of the baptized, as well as the color of spring's first fruits and
flowers.
You are encouraged to dress up for Pentecost (May 14/15) in your
brightest red and orange apparel, to celebrate the Holy Spirit in
our lives and in our Church.

Holy doors are traditionally found in the four papal major basilicas in Vatican City and Rome, and Pope Francis has encouraged each diocese throughout the world to open a Holy Door at
its cathedral, to which pilgrims can journey during the Jubilee
Year. In Seattle, St. James Cathedral has designated its bronze
doors, covered in depictions of stories of God’s mercy, as the
church’s Holy Doors.

Christ Renews His Parish or CRHP (pronounced ‘Chirp’) is a
spiritual renewal experience which brings parishioners together
in small groups in order to deepen their relationship with Christ
and each other.
CRHP has changed the spiritual lives of thousands, in
hundreds of parishes throughout the United States.
St. Louise is excited to announce that we will begin
sponsoring CRHP weekends beginning with a women's
weekend in October and followed by a men's weekend in
November. We believe these weekends will be the beginning of
a Spiritual awakening; a life changing experience for our
parishioners. The weekends will take place every six months so mark your calendars, be still, and listen to hear if God is
calling you!

Annual Catholic Appeal
Each year during the Annual Catholic
Appeal campaign, we pause and
consider all the good that is done
because we give: the homeless are
sheltered; the elderly are cared for;
our seminarians are prepared for
future ministry, to name a few. Great
things are accomplished in the name
of Jesus!
If you have not already done so, please say “YES” to the Annual
Catholic Appeal with a gift TODAY. Gifts of any amount are welcome, and your gift will make everything possible. If you cannot
make a financial commitment at this time, please fill out an envelope and pledge to offer a prayer (write it in the pledge
amount area). Return your pledge envelope today or donate
online: www.seattlearchdiocese.org/donate. Be sure to note St.
Louise as your parish.
