Open a small bag of M&Ms. how many of each
color do you find in that bag? Create a chart with
the colors written down the page. Write the number
of each color next to the word. Which color was
the most? The least? Chart a second bag to see if
results vary. Try adding the blue and red, or the
yellow and green. Or, for older students, try making
fractions of total M&Ms out of the whole bag (for
example, 2/10 were red). You can also create a
graph that shows the number of M&Ms of each
color.
Sparking Science Interest
 Visit a planetarium, aquarium, or science
museum, or tour one virtually online
 Start a leaf, rock, seashell, insect or other
science-related collection with your child.
 Go to the library together and check out
books on topics they are interested in
learning more about
 Perform a kitchen science experiment, such
as mixing cornstarch and water with your
hands to make ‘goo’ or using a pan of water
to test things that sink or float
 Go outside to observe a meteor shower or
identify a few simple constellations

Abra una pequeña bolsa de M&Ms. Cuantos de
cada color puede encontrar? Cree una tabla de
colores hacía abajo en una hoja. Escriba el número
al lado de cada palabra. Cual color tiene mas?
Cual tiene menos? Haga lo mismo con otra bolsa
para ver si el resultado varía. Trate de sumar el rojo
y azul, o el amarillo y el verde. O para estudiantes
mas grandes, trate de hacer fracciones del total
de M&Ms (por ejemplo 2/10 eran rojos) Tambien
puede crear una tabla que muestre el numero de
M&Ms de cada color.
Desatar el Interes por La Ciencia





Visite un planetario, acuario o un museo de
ciencias, o haga un tour virtual en linea.
Comience una colección de hojas, rocas,
conchas del mar, insectos u otros relacionados
con ciencias, con su hijo(a).
Vaya a la libreria y saquen libros de temas de los
que el (ella) quiere aprender más.
Hagan un experimento de ciencia en la cocina,
como revolver atole con agua con las manos
para hacer engrudo, o usar un recipiente con
agua para ver cosas que flotan o se hunden.
Vayan afuera y observen una lluvia de
meteoritos o algunas constelaciones simples.
