English as a Second Language classes are offered in both
credit and non-credit formats. A new ESL Lab is available.
Transfer Success
Napa Valley College is the bridge for many students to a
four-year college or university. Academic standards are high,
and follow-up studies show that our students excel in four-year
programs. Our top transfer schools are in close proximity –
Sonoma State, Sacramento State, San Francisco State, CSU
East Bay, UC Davis and UC Berkeley. Students also transfer
to many independent and out-of-state institutions. The college
has Transfer Admission Guarantees with UC Davis, UC Santa

Library and Learning Resources
Highlights
In addition to Viticulture and Winery Technology, vocational programs include Photography Technology, Welding,
Machine Tool Technology and Digital Design Graphics
Technology, among others. The Health Occupations Division
includes ADN, Vocational Nursing, Psychiatric Technician,
Respiratory Care, EMT and Paramedic programs.
The Napa Valley College Library houses more than 50,000
books and 250 magazines. It is linked electronically to a
regional library system offering ready access to more than one
million books. Student access computers are available in the
Library, Computer Lab and at other sites. Wi-Fi is available at
the Library, Computer Lab and at other locations on campus.

New degree - Associate of Science - Transfer in Kinesiology.
Certificates are now offered in Geographic Information Systems
(GIS), Women’s Studies Program and Environmental Science.
MESA (Mathematics, Engineering, and Science Achievement),
the Puente Program, TRiO–Student Support Services (SSS) and
the Umoja Program provide academic opportunities and support

Records lobby. The Counseling Office provides orientation
sessions for all incoming students, online and in-person.
Counselors assist and guide students in developing certificate,
degree and transfer plans as well as meeting specific needs
such as helping to reduce test anxiety. College study skills
classes are available. Services are also offered for re-entry
students returning to college after an absence.

overlooking the Napa River in the heart of the world famous
Napa Valley wine-producing region. The college’s Viticulture
and Winery Technology Program is centered in the Napa
Valley Vintners’ Teaching Winery and Trefethen Family
Viticulture Center on campus. The campus offers outstanding
facilities, from a Child Development Center to an Olympic-sized
swimming pool. The Upper Valley
Campus is located in St. Helena.
A variety of classes are offered at
off-campus locations throughout
Napa County, including at American Canyon High School. The
college’s Community Education
Center is near Napa High School.
The Small Business Development
Center is in downtown Napa.
Solar Powered!
Napa Valley College is solar powered! When constructed in
2006, the college’s 6.5-acre solar energy array was the fifth
largest in the United States.
Building for the future
Thanks to community support in the form of passage of a
bond measure in 2002, Napa Valley College was able to build
new Performing Arts Center and Library Learning Resources
Center, Auxiliary Gymnasium, Ceramics Building, Life Sciences Building, Solar Field, Central Chiller Plant, and Transit
Stop and many renovations have been completed. Building
1500 is now the Administration Building. Building 1300 now
houses many Student Services under one roof including the
Transfer Center, Career Center and a new Welcome Center.

Need Help?
Stop at our new Welcome Center in the Admissions &
Records lobby. The Counseling Office provides orientation
sessions for all incoming students, online and in-person.
Counselors assist and guide students in developing certificate,
degree and transfer plans as well as meeting specific needs
such as helping to reduce test anxiety. College study skills
classes are available. Services are also offered for re-entry
students returning to college after an absence.

Location
Napa Valley College’s tree-lined campus sits on a 160-acre site
overlooking the Napa River in the heart of the world famous
Napa Valley wine-producing region. The college’s Viticulture
and Winery Technology Program is centered in the Napa
Valley Vintners’ Teaching Winery and Trefethen Family
Viticulture Center on campus. The campus offers outstanding
facilities, from a Child Development Center to an Olympic-sized
swimming pool. The Upper Valley
Campus is located in St. Helena.
A variety of classes are offered at
off-campus locations throughout
Napa County, including at American Canyon High School. The
college’s Community Education
Center is near Napa High School.
The Small Business Development
Center is in downtown Napa.
Solar Powered!
Napa Valley College is solar powered! When constructed in
2006, the college’s 6.5-acre solar energy array was the fifth
largest in the United States.
Building for the future
Thanks to community support in the form of passage of a
bond measure in 2002, Napa Valley College was able to build
new Performing Arts Center and Library Learning Resources
Center, Auxiliary Gymnasium, Ceramics Building, Life Sciences Building, Solar Field, Central Chiller Plant, and Transit
Stop and many renovations have been completed. Building
1500 is now the Administration Building. Building 1300 now
houses many Student Services under one roof including the
Transfer Center, Career Center and a new Welcome Center.

Associate Degrees
Napa Valley College, a California Community College, offers
Associate Degrees. A full-time student can earn the required
60 units in two years. Students, who may be working or have
family responsibilities, can attend part-time and may take
longer to complete the degree. The Associate of Arts degree
is earned in general areas such as natural sciences, social
sciences or humanities and is most often awarded to students
who plan to transfer to four-year institutions. An Associate of
Science degree is earned in occupational areas such as Health
Occupations, Criminal Justice Training and various technical
fields. This degree prepares students to enter the workforce or
can also be preparation for transfer.
