The Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time
October 23, 2016
Humility is the recognition that no matter what our accomplishments, we still stand in need of the Lord.
God hears the cry of the poor and of the oppressed, especially those who acknowledge their dependency upon
Him. Having heard Paul’s cries for help, the Lord crowned him with eternal salvation.

Spiritual Adoption
What is spiritual adoption? Spiritual adoption is interceding for a baby who is in danger of being aborted and for that baby’s
parents and family who are dealing with this very difficult situation. You never know exactly for whom you are praying. You leave
that to God who knows the needs. You simply offer your prayers and daily sacrifices for the baby and family that the Lord has in
mind.
Please spiritually adopt an unborn baby. Every day over 4,000 babies are killed by abortion. They have so little protection, only
the hand of God can end this massacre. Prayer is the best and most effective weapon to help them. Say this prayer every day for
nine months to save a baby’s life:
Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I love you very
much. I beg you to spare the life of the
unborn baby that I have spiritually adopted
who is in danger of abortion.
Prayer of Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen
“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you”
(Jeremiah 1:5)
Adoptive Baby’s Name_______________
Spiritual Adoption Date__________________
Spiritual Adoption Prayer of Thanksgiving and Petition
Consider that for every baby faithfully prayed for during a Spiritual Adoption cycle (9 months) there is a baby saved from abortion
somewhere in the world…so with joyous thanksgiving we pray:
Jesus, Mary and Joseph, we thank you very much for all the unborn now living because of your love
and intercession. Let us pray:
Father, we commend to your love and mercy all babies and all people involved with abortion.
Please quicken the progress of laws protecting life. Amen.

Food for the Poor
Food for the Poor was founded on the basis of the Gospel
of St. Matthew: “As often as you did it to one of the least of
My brothers and sisters, you did it to Me.” Matt. 25:40.
We seek out the poorest of the poor in 16 different
countries, aiding some of the most destitute. In each face we
see the living Christ, who is hungry, thirsty, a stranger and
naked. Our ministry focuses on the greatest needs of the
destitute. Just as our Lord served those society ignored, we
are there: feeding the hungry, building water wells for thirsty
villages, building houses for the homeless, aiding the
impoverished elderly, raising orphans in a loving atmosphere
of Christian discipline, healing the sick or overcoming
illiteracy by supporting schools.
Fr. Alberto Cerrezo, from Food for the Poor, will be
speaking at the weekend Masses on November 5 and 6,
2016. Please prayerfully respond to his message.

World Mission Sunday
Theatre of Light
Today is World Mission Sunday! In announcing his
decision to declare a Holy Year of Mercy, Pope Francis said,
“Dear brothers and sisters, I have often thought about how
the Church might make clear its mission of being a witness to
mercy.” Supporting the young churches throughout the world
with your prayers and generous gifts is indeed a merciful
witness of this mission. The collection today will help
missionaries offer the poor of these areas practical help as
they share the mercy of God. It will ensure the development
of local dioceses, and support the work of priests, religious
and lay leaders who serve those on the margins and in most
need. Extend your merciful witness to the whole world
through your gift in today’s collection for the Society for the
Propagation of the Faith. Envelopes are at the entrances of
the church.
November’s Symbolon program will be held on Sunday,
November 6, 2016, from 2:30-4:30 p.m. in the Marie Rose
Room. The topic will be “Mary and the Saints.” This is a
bilingual presentation and all are invited to come join us for
an enlightening and educational experience.

Lucas 18, 9-14
templo a orar.

sacerdotes y líderes religiosos y laicos, quienes sirven a
