Rev. Adrian Kim, CP, was born in S. Korea. A er comple ng a
degree in Philosophy at Dongguk Univ. in Seoul, he studied for
the priesthood – first at Kwangju Catholic University in Naju
the at Graduate School of Catholic University in Seoul where
he earned a Master’s Degree in prac cal theology. He was
ordained in 2002 as a Passionist priest. Since then, he has
served as a retreat director and treasurer at the Passionist
Retreat Centers in Kwangju and Seoul. In late 2007, he came
to serve God’s people in the Diocese of Fresno and was
appointed Parochial Vicar of San Clemente, Bakersfield, and
then Parochial Vicar of OLPH in Clovis where he serves today.

loving husbands and wives, devoted parents and children. Raise up from our families dedicated and generous leaders who will
serve as priests and religious for your people. Send your Spirit to guide and strengthen them that they may serve your people following the example of your Son, Jesus Christ, in whose name we offer our prayer. Amen.

What’s Inside the Church? The Priest’s Vestments
The long white garment is the alb. Alba is La n for “white”. It is
reminiscent of a bap smal garment. It reminds the priest that he is a
Chris an. The braided cord around the priest’s waist is called the a
cincture. It symbolizes chas ty. The long scarf-like cloth that a priest
wears around his neck is called a stole. The stole is like Christ’s
“yoke” that is recalled in Mt 11:29-30. The outermost vestment that
comes in different liturgical colors is the chasuble. It’s similar to a
poncho worn by shepherds. It reminds the priest that he is “pu ng
on Christ,” our Good Shepherd.
