Manuel Ráez Retamozo He received his degree in Anthropology from the Catholic University of Peru. Professor Ráez has traveled extensively throughout Peru documenting fiestas and peasant rituals, gathering a substantial collection of music recordings, photographic and video materials. He has been an adjunct researcher at the Institute of Ethnomusicology since its foundation and in that condition had conducted numerous field research projects in various regions of the country. He is author of various books on Andean expressive culture, among them En los dominios del Cóndor. Fiestas y música tradicional del valle del Colca" (2002), "Melodias de los Valles Sagrados. Fiestas y danzas tradicionales del Cuzco" (2004) y "Dioses de las Quebradas. Fiestas y rituales en la sierra alta de Lima" (2005). Currently besides teaching in the Social Science Department of the Catholic University of Peru, he is actively involved in the Visual Anthropology Workshop and in the Tourism Study Group.
