Page 5 Saint John the Evangelist Mayo 5, 2013 LA OBRA DEL ESPÍRITU MAYO, EL MES DE LA VIRGEN MARIA Cualquiera que haya visto partir a un ser amado hacia una nueva aventura sabe que es difícil alegrarse, aun cuando nos sintamos razonablemente optimistas sobre su futuro. De modo que podemos imaginar lo difícil que debió ser para los discípulos alegrarse cuando Jesús les anunció su partida. El Evangelio de hoy es parte del discurso durante la Última Cena y sólo Juan lo relata. Jesús hace un anuncio perturbador. Debe ir al Padre y ellos deben alegrarse. Para ayudarlos, Jesús les da su paz y les promete un Abogado o Paráclito. Desde nuestra privilegiada posición en la historia, podemos ver que todo lo que Jesús promete, pasa. La Iglesia ha crecido y aún existe en este mundo gracias a la presencia del Espíritu. Pero vivir por el Espíritu y entrar en la paz de Cristo no es tarea fácil. Jesús no les promete a sus apóstoles un jardín de rosas. Él es realista sobre el costo de ser un discípulo. Y, misericordiosamente, también describe con gran claridad sus premios. Tristemente una vez que muchos latinoamericanos llegan a los Estados Unidos es difícil regresar a sus tierras de origen, ni siquiera para visitar. Por esta razón, muchos pueblos latinoamericanos han construido santuarios a sus vírgenes y santos patrones en tierra estadounidense. De esta manera buscan estar cerca al suelo que les trajo a luz, que les nutrió con frutas, verduras, flores, cantos, costumbres y tradiciones. En Miami el pueblo cubano ha construido una ermita dedicada a la Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre, cuya capilla del Santísimo fue bendecida en la fiesta de la Ascensión del Señor. Debajo de su altar principal se guarda una piedra hecha con tierra de las distintas provincias de Cuba. Es bello el hecho, porque de esta manera todo cubano que se acerca al altar del Señor puede estar cerca de su terreno aunque sea solo por un momento. Que hay en la tierra que nos llama tanto a nosotros los latinos. Será que el libro del Génesis tiene razón, Dios forma toda persona del polvo y el corazón latino anhela la tierra de la que fue sacado. La educación Cristiana es para toda la familia. Para inscribir a sus niños para las clases de catecismo que iniciarán en septiembre, por favor pasen o llamen a la oficina del Ministerio Hispano entre semana y los Domingos después de Misa.
