In our parish one of the primary ways that we do this is through St.
Vincent de Paul in our food bank. When you support St. Vincent de Paul,
you help feed the hungry.

Before my days as a seminarian I liked to help in Portland at St. Francis Dining
Hall where you can serve the homeless and talk with them to show them you care
what there name is and how there life is going. If we are to grow in mercy, we
must be merciful. A great way to do that is to feed the hungry! All this is not to
mention the spiritually
hungry!!!
Antes de mis días como seminarista me gustaba ayudar en Portland en el comedor
de San Francisco (St. Francis Dinning Hall) en donde
puedes servir a las personas sin un hogar y dialogar con ellos para mostrarles que
te importa saber su nombre y como les va en su vida. Si hemos de crecer en la
Misericordia, debemos ser misericordiosos Una manera de hacer esto es alimentar
a los hambrientos ! Y no solo eso, también el hambre espiritual !!!

Once again this year we will be renewing our
pastoral council leadership. These are the people
who represent the parish members and help to
develop a guiding vision for St Luke Parish. They
should be faithful, committed members who strive
to love God above all things, who care deeply
about our parish and who are willing to give time
to plan and work together. Does that describe
you? or someone you know? Think and pray
about it. Next Sunday we will give everyone a
chance to recommend other parishioners or offer
yourself to the work of the Parish Pastoral
Council.
Cada año vamos a estar renovando a los miembros
lideres del Consejo Pastoral. Estas personas son las
que representan a los parroquianos y ayudan a
desarrollar una visión para la Parroquia de San
Lucas. Ellos deben de ser creyentes, miembros
comprometidos que aspiren a amar a Dios sobre
todas las cosas, que se preocupan profundamente
por el bienestar de nuestra parroquia y que están
dispuestos a dar su tiempo para planear y trabajar
juntos. ¿Esto te describe? o describe a alguien más
que conoces? Piensa sobre ello y reza. El próximo
Domingo le daremos la oportunidad a cada uno para hacer la recomendación de otros parroquianos o

In kindergarten, we are up to lots of busy
things this time of year. We just began a
unit in science and social studies that has
the students learning all about the earth,
recycling, conservation, and what we can
do to make the world a better place. The
class decided to start making a list of
everything they have learned and will
learn as we go along and compile it all in
a book they hope to create and share with
others to spread our learning and
hopefully promote change in our
community. This includes making better
choices like using reusable containers
instead of plastic bags in our lunches,
picking up litter we see, and recycling.
We learned about where our trash goes
after the garbage man picks it up and are
trying to find ways to limit our trash each
day. The class is also working to plan our,
now annual, all school Earth Day cleanup
on the afternoon of April 22nd. We plan
to go out into our local St. Luke’s
neighborhood and clean up any litter we
see with our buddy classes. Look for posters made by kindergarten
advertising this event soon!
