Second Day Report
Hoy de nuevo nuestra selección se a
impuesto primero a Gran Bretaña en un
disputado partido donde los dos equipos
se han esforzado al máximo y han dado un
gran espectáculo. En su segundo partido
España ha ganado sin dificultades a China
Taipei
En este segundo día de campeonato cabe
destacar la victoria de Rusia ante Italia en
un ajustado marcador. Gran Bretaña han
demostrado quienes son ganando a
Canadá. Pero el partido de la jornada ha
sido el de Francia contra Sudáfrica,
ganando este ultimo por un ensayo de
castigo. De todos modos Francia pasa a la
siguiente fase despues de ganar a Italia
In this second day of championship, it is
important to highlight that, in the male
tournament, Russia has won Italy in a very
tight score. Great Britain has shown who
they are winning to Canada. But the game
of the day has been France against
SouthAfrica, that won by a punishment try.
In any case, France goes to the next round
after winning Italy in the afternoon session.
The Spanish male team won first to Great
Britain in a hard-fought game where the
two teams have done their best giving a
wonderful spectacle. In its second game,
Spain has won without difficulties to
Chinese Taipei.

Esta mañana no ha habido grandes
sorpresas: Italia ha ganado ha Francia,
aunque de poca diferencia y Canadá ha
ganado a Gran Bretaña

Os recordamos que mañana se
disputarán el tercer y cuarto puesto
masculino y la final masculina a las 18:30 y
a las 19:30. La final femenina se jugará a
las 19:00. Los partidos se disputarán en lo
campos de rugby de Rabanales y la
entrada será gratis como a la del resto de
los partidos
In the female tournament there weren't
big surprises: Italy won France altough
with a small difference, and Canada won
Great Britain.
The Spanish female team has won again
qualifying for the next stage without
loosing any game. Today they have won
against Canada and France.
We would like to inform that the third and
forth male positions and the final will be
played tomorrow at 18.30 and 19.30
respectively. The female final will be
played at 19.00. The games will be played
in the fields of Rabanales Montecronos
Stadium, and the entrance is free.

Pedro:Esta todo muy bien organizado:
está todo muy concentrado, no hay
retrasos en los partidos,… Y lo malo,
que hace mucho calor, pero esto es
normal aquí en Córdoba y somos de
aquí y no nos importa
P: Por ultimo ¿Qué es lo que mas te
gusta de tu trabajo?
Pedro:Pues no se… Yo siempre quise
estudiar periodismo y me gusta por que
yo no solo cubro deportes, también
hago otras cosas que no son de
deportes y me gusta la profesión, no
se…

here and we are used to it.

because I attend not only sports.

Historia del Rugby / History of Rugby
Según la tradición, el rugby lo inventó el estudiante William Webb
Ellis, en la Rugby Schooll de Inglaterra. En noviembre de 1823 se
cree que hizo trampas técnicamente durante un partido del
entonces fútbol tosco y popular que se jugaba en la escuela
cuando -con un refinado desprecio a las reglas del fútbol de la
época- cogió la pelota con las manos y corrió con ella. De hecho,
había otras formas de juego con las manos mucho antes de que
Webb cometiera esta infracción. Por ejemplo, el camp, que se
jugaba en East Anglia en el siglo XV, el hurling (sin sticks), que se
jugaba en Irlanda y Cornwall (era una forma de balonmano), el
fútbol Shrovetide, y el juego escocés tradicional del Jethart Ba'
(pelota).
Una vez que la idea del rugby cuajó, se extendió con rapidez por
las escuelas en forma rudimentaria con una variedad de
reglamentos. Se jugó en la Universidad de Cambridge en 1839, y
en 1843 se fundó el Guy's Hospital Rugby Football Club (el club de
rugby más antiguo que existe). En los treinta años siguientes se
fundaron muchos otros clubes en Inglaterra, Escocia, Irlanda y
Gales. En 1871 se creó la Rugby Football Union (RFU) y se
estableció un primer reglamento. El mismo año se jugó el primer
partido internacional (Inglaterra contra Escocia, con veinte
jugadores por equipo).
Hacia el final del siglo XIX el juego estaba establecido en
Inglaterra, Escocia e Irlanda -sobre todo a través de la influencia de
las escuelas públicas y universidades- y en Gales del Sur, donde fue
llevado por los mineros y se convirtió casi en un sustituto de la
religión. Estos países formaron la base del torneo de selecciones
más importante del mundo, el de las Cinco Naciones, la quinta es
Francia, que se unió posteriormente, que goza de gran tradición y
prestigio internacional.
Desde 1875 la mayoría de los partidos se jugaban por equipos de
quince jugadores pero las alineaciones variaban mucho. En aquel
tiempo había diez delanteros, dos medios atacantes y tres
zagueros, que eran fundamentalmente defensivos
El rugby fue incluido en los Juegos Olímpicos de 1908 y de nuevo
en 1920 y 1924, pero participaron pocos equipos y Gran Bretaña
mostró poco interés en los eventos; ambos años los equipos de
Estados Unidos ganaron la medalla de oro. Desde la II Guerra
Mundial el juego se ha desarrollado enormemente en muchas
partes del mundo, aunque el mayor porcentaje de victorias se ha
inclinado hacía los neozelandeses, surafricanos y australianos.
En 1991 se celebró en Gales la considerada como primera Copa
del Mundo Femenina, cuando doce naciones compitieron en
Cardiff, Gales. Este campeonato reflejó el gran interés de las
mujeres en el juego, que había crecido incesantemente en las
décadas de 1970 y 1980.
Se jugó mucho en escuelas y universidades. Durante la segunda
mitad del siglo XX ha habido un gran desarrollo de técnicas y
teorías sobre cómo jugar mejor al rugby.
El rugby en nuestro país se dio a conocer cuando en 1911 unos
estudiantes de la Complutense junto a un grupo de 'sportmen'
ingleses afincados en Madrid decidieron practicar un deporte que
por aquella época era completamente extraño en España.
According to the tradition, the rugby was invented by the student
William Webb Ellis, en Rugby Schooll in England. In November
1823, it is thought that he technically cheated during a game of a
rough and pupular football of that time, he caught the ball with his
hands and run with it. In fact there were other forms of game with
the hands before Webb made this infringement. For example, the
camp played in East Anglia in the XVth century, the hurling
(without sticks) played in Ireland and Cornwall (a form of
Handball), the football in Shrovetide and the traditional Scottish
game Jethart Ba' (ball).
Once the idea of rugby got strong, it started to expand quickly
through the different schools in a basic way with a variaty of rules.
It was played in Cambridge University in 1839 and in 1843 the
Guy's Hospital Rugby Football Club was founded (the oldest rugby
club). In the next thirty years many other clubs were founded in
England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. In 1871 the Rugby Football
Union (RFU) was created and the first rules were stablished. In
the same year, the first International Game was played (England
against Scotland, with twenty players in each team).
At the end of the XIXth century the game was stablished in
England, Scotland and Ireland – thanks to the influence of
Universities and Schools – and in South Wales where the miners
took it and it was almost the replacement of religion. These
countries formed the base of one of the most important
Selections Tournament in the world, the Five Nations
Tournament, the fifth is France, which joined later. This
tournament has a great tradition and international prestige.
From 1875 the most of the games were played by 15 players
teams but the lineups changed a lot. In that time there were ten
forwards, two centers and three full backs, that were mainly
defensive.
Rugby was included in the Olympic Games in 1908 and again in
1920 and 1924, but very few teams participated and Great Britain
showed not much interest in the events. The USA teams won the
gold medal in both games. From the 2nd World War the game has
developed en many parts of the world although the highest
number of victories have gone to Newzeland, SouthAfrica and
Australia.
In 1991 the first Women World Cup was hold in Wales, when 12
Nations competed in Cardiff, Wales. This championship showed
the interest of the women for the game, which has grown up
during the 70's and 80's.
The new game was played in schools and universities. A great
development of techniques and theories about how to play better
rugby took place during the second half of te XXth century.
The Rugby in our country appeared in 1911 when some students
from Universidad Complutense togehter with a group of English
sportmen living in Madrid, decided to practice a sport, that in that
time, was completely rare in Spain.
