PREPARACION DEL SOPORTE La colocación de las baldosas cerámicas siempre se debe efectuar por personal cualificado, los cuales utilizarán los materiales y herramientas más adecuadas. Las superficies a revestir, deben estar perfectamente niveladas y limpias antes de aplicar el material de agarre o adhesivo. Es recomendable la utilización de una adecuada iluminación para facilitar la correcta colocación del material. PREPARATION OF THE BASE Qualified workers, using the most appropriate materials and tools, must always carry out the fixing of ceramic tiles. The surfaces to be covered must be perfectly level and clean before applying the holding or adhesive material. The use of adequate lighting is recommended in order to enable the correct fixing of the material. ADHESIVO Y TIPO DE COLOCACIÓN La elección del adhesivo se definirá dependiendo de varios factores (Tipo de baldosa, superficie a revestir y uso del recinto). La correcta elección del tipo o sistema de colocación se regirá por el tipo de ubicación de la obra (interior o exterior) y de las dimensiones de la baldosa cerámica. Se recomienda la utilización del adhesivo DURSTONE y un tipo de aplicación del adhesivo en capa fina frente a la gruesa. El uso del doble encolado es recomendable para baldosas que tengan alguno de sus lados con una longitud superior a 30 cm. La citada técnica se efectúa aplicando el adhesivo en el soporte y en la baldosa, cubriendo ambas superficies. 180 ADHESIVE AND TYPE OF FIXING The choice of adhesive should be made according to various factors (type of tile, surface to be covered and the use of the site). The correct choice of the type or the system of fixing will depend on the type of space of the site (interior or exterior) and on the dimensions of the ceramic tile. It is recommendable to use the adhesive DURSTONE and the application of an adhesive in thin layers, rather than thick layers. The use of a double fixing is recommendable for tiles with a length superior to 30cm. This technique is made through the application of adhesive on the base and on the tile, covering both surfaces. ANOTACIÓN ESPECIAL Durante la colocación es recomendable utilizar crucetas del tamaño adecuado según el tamaño de la junta, es conveniente su utilización para mantener la ortogonalidad del montaje. Comprobar el material ya colocado durante su proceso de fraguado para corregir posibles variaciones. SPECIAL NOTE During the fixing process it is recommendable to use crosspieces of an appropriate size depending on the size of the joint; their use facilitates the orthogonality of the laying. During the setting process, check material already laid for any possible incorrect positioning. REJUNTADO Existes varios tipos de juntas en un proceso de colocación: -Juntas estructurales, diseñadas para amortiguar los movimientos de la edificación, que deben ser terminadas con perfiles y/o materiales indicados. -Juntas perimetrales, son las juntas que están alojadas en las uniones de pared-suelo y deben estar rellenadas con material deformable. -Juntas de colocación, siendo la separación entre las baldosas cerámicas. Se considera colocación con junta cuando la separación es igual o mayor a 3 mm. La separación mínima recomendable es 1,5 mm. Para iniciar el proceso de rejuntado, el mortero o adhesivo debe estar totalmente fraguado. Las juntas deben estar totalmente limpias y se debe utilizar una llana de goma para efectuar el rellenado. El exceso de junta que se aloja en la superficie de la baldosa debe ser retirado con la misma llana de goma. JOINTING Various types of joints exist in the fixing process: -Structural joints, designed to lessen movements in the construction, which must have a finish with profiles and/or specified materials. -Perimeter joints are the ones housed in the wall-floor meeting point and must be filled with deformable material. -Fixing joints, being the separation between ceramic tiles considered to be equal to or larger than 3mm. The minimum recommended separation is 1.5mm. In order to start the process of jointing, the mortar or adhesive must be totally set. The joints must be completely clean and a rubber trowel used to carry out the filling process. The excess of the joint, which is found on the surface of the tile, must be removed with the same rubber trowel. FINALIZACIÓN Limpiar el resto de juntas depositadas en la superficie de las baldosas cerámicas, el velo resultante del secado es conveniente limpiarlo con agua. Este proceso de limpieza del resto de juntas debe efectuarse no dejando pasar mucho tiempo. Para la limpieza de los restos de obra es conveniente no emplear productos que contengan ácido Fluorhídrico. Para el mantenimiento de las baldosas cerámicas se aconseja consultar con el fabricante dependiendo del tipo de producto. FINISH Clean the remains off the joints on the surface of the ceramic tiles, and the remaining veil of dried material should be cleaned off with water. This process of cleaning off the remains from the joints should be done without letting too much time pass after the jointing. For the cleaning of the remains from the works, it is a good idea not to use products which contain fluorhydric acid. To maintain the ceramic tiles we advise the user to consult with the manufacturer according to the type of product concerned. Se aconseja al colocar, mezclar piezas de varias cajas. We recommend that on fixing pieces, the user should mix material from various boxes. Verify tonality, calibre and category prior to fixing. LIMPIEZA INICIAL La limpieza inicial es muy importante, se debe efectuar después de la colocación para eliminar todos los residuos de cemento, juntas, etc. Es aconsejable utilizar productos ácidos con disolución y se deben limpiar de forma energica y posteriormente enjuagar con abundante agua para eliminar por completo el producto de limpieza empleado. INITIAL CLEANING Initial cleaning is very important and should be carried out after fixing in order to eliminate all residues of cement, joints, etc. It is advisable to use dissolved acidic products and must be cleaned with a vigorous action and later rinsed with abundant water to eliminate completely the cleaning product. MANTENIMIENTO Debido al proceso de fabricación empleado, el porcelanico DURSTONE tiene una mínima absorción de agua, impidiendo que la suciedad penetre en las baldosas y solamente se deba eliminar la citada suciedad de la superficie de las baldosas. No se aconseja la utilización de detergentes que contengan productos de encerado para evitar la formación de capas untuosas. MAINTENANCE Due to the manufacturing process employed, the DURSTONE porcelain tile has a minimal water absorption rate, impeding the penetration of dirt in the tiles so dirt will only have to be removed from the surface of the tile. It is not advisable to use detergents which contain wax to avoid the accumulation of layers of grease. 182 MATERIALES NATURALES Para el cuidado y mantenimiento de estos productos, después de haber realizado la limpieza inicial, es suficiente para su mantenimiento llevar a cabo la limpieza con una solución acuosa con un pequeño porcentaje de detergente alcalino. Para las superficies mates no se aconseja realizar un tratamiento impermeabilizante, ya que al no haber prácticamente absorción se depositará solamente sobre la superficie causando efectos estéticos no deseados. Para las superficies pulidas es aconsejable aplicar un tratamiento de sellado con líquidos hidrófugos o ceras para mejorar su comportamiento frente a las manchas y evitar la aparición de eflorescencias procedentes del mortero del cemento. Este tratamiento puede ser previo o posterior a la colocación, dependiendo de las condiciones de utilización del material colocado. MATERIALES CON RELIEVE Para limpiar de forma correcta los materiales con relieve se debe seguir el trazo del relieve y fregar enérgicamente, una vez efectuado lo citado se debe enjuagar con abundante agua. CONSEJOS GENERALES Para grandes superficies con tráfico elevado y sujetas a abundante suciedad, es necesario utilizar aspiradoras de líquidos de lavado. De esta forma se conseguirá una limpieza profunda que eliminará los líquidos de la suciedad y se evitará la formación de pátinas no deseadas. El porcentaje de detergente a utilizar debe ser el más bajo posible. Es aconsejable utilizar para los pavimentos elevados productos pulidos o brillantes de gran formato, debido a que su mantenimiento es prácticamente en seco o con un uso mínimo de líquidos. En general se debe prestar mucha atención a la elección de los materiales para las juntas, teniendo en cuenta su ficha técnica y cumpliendo los tiempos de limpieza aconsejados. GENERAL ADVICE For large surface areas of high transit and subject to extensive dirt, it is necessary to use vacuum cleaners with liquids.
