TWENTY-SEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME OCTOBER 2
TWENTY-SEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME OCTOBER 2 - 3, 2010 Come, let us bow down in worship; let us kneel before the Lord who made us. — Psalm 95:6 First Reading Habbakuk 1:2-3, 2:2-4 The Prophet Habakkuk answers his call as prophet. His mission to the people of Israel is to bring about a change of heart for fear that they would perish. Will they all lose heart or can the prophet and the people have patience in the face of tyranny and be content to wait until the Lord is ready to act? Second Reading 2 Timothy 1:6-8, 13-14 St. Paul reminds Timothy to use his gifts that the Lord has given him for the spread of the Gospel and to remember that the Holy Spirit is there as his guide at all times. The second preface of the Holy Spirit says, “You give us your Holy Spirit to help us always by his power, so that with loving trust we may turn to you in all our troubles, and give you thanks in all our joys through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Gospel Reading Come join the Choir! PUBLIC SQUARE ROSARY CRUSADE Join the 2010 Public Square Rosary Crusade at Allan Witt Park, on October 16 - Saturday from 11:30am to 2:00pm. As we all know, the United States is in great need of public prayer, repentance and conversion. We must ask God to save America through the Rosary of His Most Holy Mother. For more information, call Sonia Posadas at 864-2434. Luke 17:5-10 Jesus responds to a request from his apostles to increase their faith by telling them that all they require is faith the size of a mustard seed. With such faith they could work marvels. Unfortunately our faith can be even less than that. Yet, through the very fact of our baptism, we are called to the divine mission of witnessing to Jesus. We are reminded that as Christians we are called to be missionaries whether in the United States, Mexico, Philippines, Ireland, Pakistan, Australia or Nigeria. We are all together in the same mission Jesus has called us to - to witness to Him to the ends of the earth. VOCATION PRAYER FOR OCTOBER 2010 God of all nations, we are grateful for Catholic missionaries, who bring the treasure of faith to many lands. May the gospel, which shaped their lives, continue to shape our lives today. Bless every diocese with others to follow in their footsteps. Amen.
