Novedades Today, Tuesday August 18 begins a new school year! Maybe you have been preparing your family for the new routine or shopping for new school clothes. The newness is fun all in itself. Quizás han estado preparando su familia para una nueva rutina o se han hecho las compras de la ropa nueva para la escuela. En la escuela misma hay maestros nuevos, nuevos amigos (un nuevo director J) y nuevas oportunidades de aprender. Para organizarlo todo, celebramos Back to School Night este Jueves, 20 Agosto para informarse inmediatamente. Look for an invitation from the PTA to sign up for Konstella, a new, private online tool and app that Escondido is using this year to communicate with parents, teachers and staff, organize classroom and school wide activities, and access the school directory. More details will be in your email invitation to join and in the Back to School packet, or https://www.konstella.com/cd/hV1oHh Si ven un email de Konstella, es un programa de la PTA para facilitar el contacto entre padres, maestros y otros miembros de la comunidad escolar en un ambiente online seguro! Habrá mas información en los paquetes Back to School. PAUSD Mission Statement: We support all PAUSD students as they prepare themselves to thrive as global citizens in a rapidly changing world. We develop our students’ knowledge, critical thinking and problem solving skills, and nurture their curiosity, creativity and resilience, empowering every child to reach his or her full intellectual, social and creative potential. “…our students’ knowledge…” “…el conocimiento de nuestros estudiantes…” Our mission: to develop knowledge Nuestra misión: desarrollar conocimiento I like the Spanish word that I used to translate the English word “knowledge” above. It comes from “conocer”, which means both to meet or know someone and to know a city or a theme, as opposed to a simple fact (the verb “saber”). I’d like to suggest that we enrich our thoughts about the type of knowledge we develop by using these two Spanish words. Me gusta la palabra “conocer” que traduce el ingles “knowledge” arriba en el título. Me gusta porque al contrario a “saber” un hecho, conocer se usa para conocer a personas, lugares, temas. Sugiero que tomemos en cuento tanto el ‘conocer un tema’ como ‘el saber una cosa’ cuando desarrolamos a nuestros hijos. Chuck Merritt
