Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year I, Cycle B
"A prophet is not without honor except in His native place."
It may a bit comforting to experience Jesus facing a familiar situation we encounter even today. The
people who knew Jesus were amazed at the words that came
out of His mouth and the authority in which He spoke. This
may sound familiar to us. We often strive to live our life of
faith with great zeal and enthusiasm only to be "challenged" by
the people who knows us. We strive to witness what the life of
faith in Christ does in our lives but we cannot lose heart when
people do not easily follow our lead. Jesus did not hold back
in His words and works. We can simply remain steadfast in
our witness of the faith. People will come to believe in their
own time.

“En todas partes se honra a un profeta, menos en Su propia tierra.”
Quizás sea un poco reconfortante la experiencia de ver como Jesús enfrentaba una situación que
podemos vivir hoy dia. La gente a quien Jesús conocía estaban impresionados con las palabras que
salían de Su boca y la autoridad con la cual Él les habló. Esto suena conocido para nosotros. Nosotros
a menudo nos esforzamos por vivir nuestra vida de fe con gran entusiasmo y celo solamente para ser
“desafiados” por la gente que nos conoce. Nos esforzamos por ser testigos de lo que la vida de fe en
Cristo hace con nuestras vidas, pero no podemos perder nuestra meta cuando las personas no
fácilmente siguen nuestro liderazgo. Jesús no se detuvo con Sus palabras y sus hechos. Podemos
simplemente permanecer firmes en nuestro testimonio de fe. Las personas llegaran a creer a su propio
tiempo.

Extra-Ordinary Minister of the
Eucharist Training
Do you have a deep affection for the Blessed
Sacrament, and a desire to share it with our faith
community. If you are interested in learning to
become an Extra-ordinary Minister of the Eucharist,
there will be a training on July 16th at 5:30pm. We
will be meeting in the vestibule area of the church.
Also, if any current EM's are interested in training as

Pre-Baptism Preparation Class
Grief Support Sessions
St. Joseph’s Ministry of
Consolation will be offering 7 weekly grief support
sessions beginning
on

Wednesday, July 8 until
August 19th, from 6:30pm
until 8pm. We ar e pr esent
for those grieving the loss
of a loved one or any other significant loss. The ministry takes place in the context of faith and is caring,
supportive and compassionate. We will be meeting

Our Pre-Baptismal Preparation classes are held
once a month. Our next class will be July 8th. We
ask parents who are planning to baptize their infant,
to please contact the parish office by phone or stop
in during business hours. There are several
requirements to be met to have your child baptized,
and we would like to assist you with the process.

Youth Ministry News
ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH
On Fire NorCal at Discovery Kingdon in Vallejo
Registration for On Fire Norcal has opened once again! On Fire is a rally
opening up the year for both Youth and Young Adult Ministry giving us a
chance to meet other youth groups at other churches in our dioceses, and all
the other dioceses in California and as far as Nevada. We will have a day of
fun and fellowship as a group when we listen to speakers, concerts by Anthem
Lights, Amanda Vernon, and SkaAmen, and an opportunity to ride all of the roller coaster’s at Discovery
Kingdom where the park will be exclusive to On Fire ticket holders. On Fire is open to all high school students
in the parish! If you are interested in coming with the High School Youth group please sign up in the Parish
Office. Cost for tickets are $40. Shirts are included! Come join us for a day of faith, fun, and fellowship!
Registration for On Fire will be open until July 31st.
Pancakes for Poland Update!
Thank you to everyone who came and supported the Youth Ministry and our fundraiser Pancakes for Poland!
We made over $800 and are well on our way to making our trip to Poland for World Youth Day 2016, in
Krakow, Poland. It is truly a blessing to be a part of such a generous parish that wants to see our Youth
Ministry succeed. Please continue to look for more future announcements as we continue to raise funds for our
trip to Poland.

On Fire NorCal en Discovery Kingdom en Vallejo
Las inscripciones para On Fire Norcal estan abiertas! On Fire es un evento
anual que da principio al año catequético para jóvenes y ministerio de jóvenes
adultos. Este evento les da la oportunidad de conocer otros grupos juveniles de
otras parroquias en nuestra diócesis y de todas las diócesis en California y
Nevada. Tendremos un dia de diversion y compañerismo como grupo cuando
escuchemos en concierto a Anthem Lights, Amanda Vernon, y SkaAmen, y una oportunidad de pasear en
todos los juegos de diversion en Discovery Kingdom donde el parque estara exclusivamente para todos los
participantes de OnFire. OnFire está abierto a todos los estudiantes de high school en la parroquia! Si tu estas
interesado en venir con el grupo juvenil de high school, por favor pasar a la oficina de la parroquia para

Pancakes para Polonia! Hicimos más de $800 que es una buena cantidad para ayudarnos hacer realidad
nuestro viaje a Polonia para la Jornada Mundial Juvenil en el 2016, en Cracovia, Polonia. Realmente es una
bendición ser parte de una parroquia tan generosa que quiere ver a nuestro Ministerio de Jóvenes sobresalir.

WE REALLY NEED SOME HELP!!!
As I work on the schedule for maintaining the usher needs of our church, it is evident that this group has
been holding the position for so long that there needs to be more participation. The need becomes even
more critical as the planned vacations start taking place. Currently, we have 12 individuals participating.
That’s just 6 for each day of the masses. With more participating, we could easily serve only once per
