SHARE MERCY
T
COMPARTE MISERICORDIA
his Jubilee Year of Mercy bids us share
our own experience of Jesus’ mercy
with those on what Pope Francis calls
the “peripheries”—people who feel
marginalized, even unwelcome—inviting them
to come home. But with all this mercy, why
today’s mayhem? “Do you think I have come
to establish peace on earth? No, I tell you, but
rather division” (Lk 12:51). Jesus “breaks down” those
“breakups” in painful detail—parents, children, even inlaws. “Against” appears eight times in five verses.
Jeremiah faced death for bearing witness (Jer 38:4). Can’t
we bear at least a small share of the sometimes merciless
cost of sharing mercy? The Letter to the Hebrews warns
us, keep your “eyes fixed on Jesus” and “so great a cloud
of witnesses,” lest we “grow weary and lose heart” as we
run “the race that lies before us” (Heb 12:1–3). After all,
“for the sake of the joy that lay before him,” Jesus
“endured the cross” (12:2). Can’t we endure our small
crosses for the sake of sharing mercy?

E
ste Año Jubilar de la Misericordia nos
invita a llevar nuestra propia experiencia
vengan a casa. Pero con toda esta misericordia,
¿por qué el caos de hoy en día? “¿Piensan
No
¿No podemos

PRAYER FOR STUDENTS
Lord our God, in your wisdom and love you surround us with the mysteries of the universe. Send your
Spirit upon these students and fill them with your wisdom and blessings. Grant that they may devote
themselves to their studies and draw ever closer to you, the source of all knowledge.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen. -from Catholic Household Blessings and Prayers
PRAYER FOR TEACHERS
Lord God, your spirit of wisdom fills the earth and teaches us your ways. Look upon these teachers.
Let them strive to share their knowledge with gentle patience and endeavor always to bring the
truth to eager minds. Grant that they may follow Jesus Christ, the way, the truth, and the life, forever
and ever. Amen. -from Catholic Household Blessings and Prayers
Have a great school year, 2016 - 2017!

OUR PARISH’S HISTORY
LA HISTORIA DE NUESTRA PARROQUIA
St. Francis is looking for a person or persons that
would take on the task of writing the history of
St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. There are
documents, newspaper and Diocesan articles,
bulletins and pictures that tell the history of the
Church. It would be wonderful if all the material
could be consolidated in a 50th Anniversary
memorial book. If you think you would like to
take on this project or would like more
information please call Diane Hoy 407-464-3170.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH
MUCHISIMAS GRACIAS
Last Fiscal Year (July 2015 to June 2016) through the
monthly yellow envelopes marked for the St. Francis Food
Pantry, you donated $71,457 to the Food Pantry. Wow!
¡Guauu!
We want to let you know what we do with those funds.
We partner with Second Harvest Food Bank which
essentially means that for every dollar we spend for food
and drink we can purchase approximately $9.00 worth of
product. Last Fiscal Year we provided 124,338 pounds of
food to our clients. In addition, last Thanksgiving we
provided each family with a $15 gift card to Bravo
Supermarket, a $10 gift card for Christmas and a $10 gift
card for Easter.
producto. El pasado año fiscal proporcionamos 124,338 libras de
alimentos a nuestros clientes.
We are open for our clients (average 200+ each Open
Pantry) from 9am to Noon on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the
month where they walk through and select food that we
have to offer based on the number of individuals in the
family. We take food to 30+ homebound clients on the 2 nd
and 4th Fridays of the month. We rest on the 5th Friday of
the month (4 times a year).
We also ask you in November to provide food items for our
clients’ Thanksgiving Dinners. You have always come
through with staggering amounts of food.
grados K a 8.

WITH ALL YOUR HEART • CON TODO NUESTRO CORAZÓN
HEART TO SHARE
“With All Your Heart” is designed to strengthen you
as a disciple of Jesus Christ by helping you cultivate
a “Heart to Share”. You have had opportunities to
show your care and concern for others with our
“Christmas in July” donations and ministry
opportunities like Ministry to the Sick and
mentoring at Fr. Ennis Village. Next weekend you
will learn about opportunities to share with our
parish English Literacy Ministry.
On Saturday August 27th and Sunday August 28th, you will be asked to make a
commitment or commitments to ways to demonstrate your own “Heart to
Share. Please prayerfully consider how you may share “with all your heart”.
Compartir". Has tenido oportunidades para demostrar tu cuidado y
THE FLORIDA CATHOLIC
The August 20-21 second collection is held on behalf of the Florida Catholic
ministry. The ministry depends on the generosity of those who want to
support Catholic communications and evangelization. Your support of the
Florida Catholic is greatly appreciated. Watch for the opportunity to

ELECTION GUIDE & CANDIDATE QUESTIONNAIRE
As Catholics, we are called to carry the values of the Gospel
and the teachings of our Church. As citizens of the U. S., we
have a duty to participate in the framing and the debate of
public issues and the selection of those who occupy positions
of civic leadership. These dual responsibilities to faith and
citizenship are at the heart of what is means to be Catholic.
To view the guide and Candidate questionnaire visit:
www.flaccb.org/2016-election-candidates.
The theme for this year’s annual gathering of ministry leaders,
catechists, and Catholic faithful will be “Disciples of Mercy”
and will feature keynote presenter, Dr. Hosffman Ospino,
Ph.D., an expert on religious education and ministry,
particularly in intercultural settings.
This conference is ideal for anyone serving in parish and
school ministry, such as catechists, educators, youth ministers,
social justice advocates, pastoral care volunteers, staff
members, pastoral and finance council leaders, and all
Catholic faithful who are seeking to grow in faith and God’s
merciful love. For more information, visit:
