GIVE A GIFT TO GOD AND YOURSELF
THE GIFT OF THE SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION
One of the best ways to prepare to meet the Lord at Christmas is to forsake our sins, reconcile with God, and seek His
forgiveness. We do this through the beautiful sacrament of reconciliation. There are numerous opportunities to celebrate
this sacrament throughout Advent. Confessions are held each Saturday beginning at 4:00 pm during Advent. You are also
invited and encouraged to attend one of the local parish penance services here in the South Bay. You can attend one that is
convenient to you. The schedule is below:

LET’S HURRY, THE MOVIE IS STARTING
Isn’t that what we do when we are going to see a movie, go to a football game, get your children to their soccer game? I
can go on and on. When was the last time you left just before a movie and not see what happens at the end? Or better yet,
leave a famed football game and not find out the score? Have you pulled out your child from the soccer game before anyone
else before the game ends? I believe that the answer to these questions is “No”.
Of course, at times we do need to leave in a hurry to get to work, an emergency, a legitimate excuse.
A woman whispers to her husband during Communion, “Let’s go now, I don’t like to get stuck in traffic” and perhaps one
of the best excuses, “Honey, I need to buy my favorite donut before their gone”.
Setting an example to your children, fellow parishioners, and those that are in the RCIA program is easy. How to begin?
Recommendation is to come early before Mass begins, give reverence to the Lord, unwind your thoughts, talk to the Lord,
He listens.
Sometimes, we forget what Holy Communion is and why we receive the Lord. Pope Francis states that “...the Eucharistic
Celebration is much more than a simple banquet but also a great gift. We just don’t go to Mass to pray...” says Pope
Francis...but to receive Communion, the bread that is the Body of Jesus Christ who saves, forgives us, unites us to the
Father...we don’t ever thank the Lord enough for the gift he has give us in the Eucharist!...that is why it is so important to go to
Mass.”
Let’s remember why we go to Mass, and try to stay a little longer to thank the Lord for what he has bestowed on us. Let’s do
A REMINDER
It has come to our attention that some
parishioners are using the Special Needs
spaces other than what it is designated
for. The spaces provided for Special
Needs are for handicap overflow,
temporary physical handicap (e.i.
temporary use of a crutch, people with
oxygen tanks, pregnant women that
cannot walk as far anymore, etc.) Please
be considerate to your fellow parishioners
and allow those that truly need to park in those spaces
provided.
WHY IS THE
PRIEST AND THE DEACON LATE?
Please respect the signs placed in the
spaces. We have had situations in which our
priests and deacons have to seek a parking
spot because their designated space has
been taken by a parishioner. Previously, we
had one priest, please remember that now
we have two. Thank you.
Simbang Gabi
Misa de gallo
6:30 am: Tuesday, December 15th - 19th
7:30 am: Sunday, December 20th
6:30 am: Monday,December 21st - 24th
ome join us for this great Filipino tradition passed down from
the Spanish heritage. This pre-Christmas holiday celebration
in the Philippines, is called MISA DE GALLO (a novena of
Masses), which officially begins in the early hours of
December 15 every year and ends on the 24, Christmas Eve.
TRASH AND ORANGE CONES
Some parishioners have decided to make their own private parking spaces
bending the rules a little by removing the orange cones and park in the
“Trash and Recycle, No Parking Area.” Please be advised that these are
(photo to the left), not parking spaces.
The employees and volunteers that work weekends need to get to the trash
and recycle bin area and are unable to do so because cars are blocking the
area. Corpus Christi Church will not be responsible for any kind of damage to
your car. A chain will be put up instead of the orange cones.
Please respect these simple orange cones as a “No Parking” space area.
Thank you.

PUT ON JOY
Today, Baruch speaks of the splendor that
lies ahead for the city of Jerusalem and for
all of us, regardless of where home is for us.
Throw off strife, he tells us, and put on joy.
Like a favorite old sweatshirt, joy fits, and
how warm it keeps us, even when the winds
blow cold.
Paul knows of this joy as he pens his letter to
the Philippians, praying that they may grow
in their ability to discern what is righteous
and good. And Luke speaks to us of John,
who was foretold by Isaiah and who sings a
similar song--"Prepare the way of the Lord,"
for salvation is at hand.
A man ahead of his time, Baruch spent his
days joyfully awaiting a distant glory. On this
Second Sunday of Advent, Paul and John
know that this glory is upon us.

18-39 years of age. Every first Thursday 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
for Eucharistic Adoration, Faith Topic, Bible Study, and OffCampus fellowship-social (Off-Campus TBD). Our Adoration
(in the church) is an hour long with music and quiet time. Our
faith topics typically relate to the current liturgical season and/
or holiday. Bible studies cover the coming Sunday's readings.
The last Thursday of the month, as a group, we go off campus,
be it bowling or laser tagging, we continue enjoying each
others camaraderie. When there is a fifth Thursday in a month,
we have a service-oriented activity (i.e. write notes or cards to
families of patients in the hospital with words of
encouragement and hope), but there are more service activities
we need to share. Come join us! For more information, please

Nosotros no vamos

religiosos descalzos, recoletos y observantes buscaban
--Fray Gilberto Cavazos-Glz, OFM, Copyright (c) J. S. Paluch Co.
BASURERO Y CONOS ANARANJADOS
