Q: Will MARTA ever expand north along
GA 400?
A: The MARTA board recently approved a
preferred route for heavy rail expansion to
Alpharetta and is also studying an alternate
bus rapid transit option. The plan that receives
funding first will be given priority consideration.
INMAN PARK
FESTIVAL
One of Atlanta’s largest festivals and the one
closest to MARTA, the Inman Park Festival is
a lively neighborhood event that takes place
the last full weekend in April each year. There’s
an eclectic parade, home tour, multiple music
stages, large artist market and parks and playgrounds to enjoy. Take a Blue Line train to the
Inman Park Station on April 25 and 26 to explore all the activities.

Q: I have several products on my Breeze
Card. In what order are they used?
A: By default, MARTA automatically uses the
largest day pass first, then trips if available,
then cash value. Regional transit services will
default to either their relevant pass first, if available, then to cash in absence of a pass.
Q: What are the blue and white phones in
MARTA stations?
A: The blue phones are for police emergencies or
to contact MARTA Police. The white phones
are courtesy phones to ask general questions.

The Global Gateway Alliance advocacy group
recently ranked Hartsfield-Jackson International
Airport as being number one in the United States
when it comes to public transportation access.
The 30 busiest airports in the world were reviewed and only Madrid, Amsterdam, Dubai and
Frankfurt beat out Atlanta and MARTA for best
transit connection.
The Airport MARTA station is connected to the
domestic terminal next to baggage claim and
ground transportation. Just outside the station
is a free shuttle to the international terminal and
access to the SkyTrain, which provides service
to a rental car center, two hotels and the Georgia International Convention Center.
Midtown Station
The Midtown MARTA station is in the middle of
Midtown’s bustling live, work and play community with office buildings, condos, hotels, restaurants, nightlife and attractions within walking
distance. The free Tech Trolley provides service
to Georgia Tech and several bus routes connect with the station, including bus 12 to West
Midtown and Cumberland Mall and bus 36 to
Virginia Highland and Emory University. Don’t
miss Cafe Agora and Arden’s Garden, which are
next to the station, or visit the Margaret Mitchell
House, Federal Reserve Monetary Museum or
Piedmont Park for cultural and recreational fun.

• On Saturday, March 14, nearly 500 residents participated in the MARTA to Clayton County RibbonCutting Celebration at Riverdale Town Center.
The launch kick-off event for Clayton County
bus service began with a MARTAcade led by
MARTA Police Department motorcycles followed by MARTA buses, Mobility vans and MPD
patrol cars. The procession travelled a portion
of Bus Route 196 starting from Riverdale Road,
down Garden Walk Boulevard up GA Highway
85 and culminated at Riverdale Town Center.

Guest speakers for the day’s festivities included the Honorable David Scott, U.S. Representative for Georgia’s 13th congressional district;
MARTA Board Chairman Robert L. Ashe III and
MARTA General Manager/CEO Keith T. Parker,
AICP. Riverdale Mayor Evelyn Wynn-Dixon and
Clayton County Chairman Jeffrey E. Turner also
welcomed the crowd gathered to rejoice in the
return of bus service to Clayton County after a
nearly five-year absence.
In the words of MARTA Chairman Robert L.
Ashe, “This is a watershed event for MARTA,
for Clayton County and for metro Atlanta.”
The festive affair was tied into a Meet MARTA
Day where residents had the chance to learn
more about MARTA in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere that featured face painting, coloring,
balloon animals and a video game bus for kids;
line dancing, prizes, a live radio remote and
light refreshments.
New High-Tech
Restrooms
One of the few transit
agencies experimenting with high-tech restrooms, MARTA is exploring ways to provide
customers with more
options while saving
the time and money
associated with public
restroom maintenance.
A new automated and
self-cleaning bathroom is being tested
at the Lindbergh Center MARTA station and
a second restroom will be installed at the East
Point MARTA station later this year.
To enter the restroom, a call button must be
pushed, which provides 10-minutes of time
in the facility (more time can be requested in
special cases). Sensors dispense toilet paper,
soap and water and can even detect a lack of
movement in case there is a health emergency.
MARTA will monitor the success of these two
restrooms before moving forward with additional installations.

El Festival del Parque Inman, uno de los mayores festivales de Atlanta y el más cercano a
MARTA, es un evento de barrio lleno de vida
que ocurre el último fin de semana completo de
abril de cada año. Hay un desfile ecléctico, visita de hogares, múltiples escenarios de música,
un gran mercado de artistas, y parques y zonas
de juegos para disfrutar. Tome la línea azul del
metro hasta la estación de Inman Park el 25 y
26 de abril para explorar todas las actividades.
P: ¿Se ampliará MARTA alguna vez hacia el

El grupo de apoyo Alianza Global Gateway clasificó recientemente al Aeropuerto Internacional
Hartsfield-Jackson como el número uno en los
Estados Unidos en cuanto al acceso a transporte público. Se revisaron los 30 aeropuertos
más transitados del mundo y solo Madrid, Ámsterdam, Dubái y Frankfurt vencieron a Atlanta y
MARTA como la mejor conexión de transporte.

El sábado 14 de marzo, cerca de 500 residentes
participaron en la Celebración de la inauguración MARTA al condado de Clayton en Riverdale
Town Center.
El evento de lanzamiento del servicio de autobuses
del condado de Clayton comenzó con un desfile
de motocicletas del Departamento de Policía de
MARTA seguido de autobuses y camionetas de
Mobility de MARTA, y patrullas del Departamento
de Policía de MARTA. El desfile recorrió una parte

Turner, también le dieron la bienvenida a la multitud que se reunió para regocijarse con el regreso
del servicio de autobuses al condado de Clayton
después de una ausencia de casi cinco años.
En palabras del Presidente de MARTA, Robert
L. Ashe, “Este es un hito para MARTA, para el
condado de Clayton y para el área metropolitana
de Atlanta.”
El evento festivo se realizó junto con el Día para
conocer MARTA, durante el cual los residentes
tuvieron la oportunidad de saber más acerca de
MARTA en un ambiente divertido y familiar que
contó con pintura de caras, colorear, globos en
forma de animales y un autobús de videojuegos

La estación del Aeropuerto de MARTA está comunicada con la terminal de vuelos nacionales
junto al área de reclamo de equipaje y transporte
terrestre. Justo en las afueras de la estación hay
un servicio de transporte gratuito a la terminal
internacional y acceso al SkyTrain, el cual presta
servicio al centro de alquiler de vehículos, dos
hoteles y el Centro Internacional de Convenciones de Georgia.
Nuevos baños de
alta tecnología
Como una de las pocas agencias de transporte que experimenta
con baños de alta tecnología, MARTA está
explorando formas de
proporcionarles a los usuarios más opciones y al
mismo tiempo ahorrarse
tiempo y dinero asociados con el mantenimiento
de los baños públicos.
Se está probando un
nuevo baño automatizado y con auto-limpieza
en la estación de Lindbergh Center de MARTA
y se instalará un segundo baño en la estación
de East Point de MARTA a finales de este año.
Para entrar al baño, se debe presionar un botón
de llamada, el cual proporciona 10 minutos en la
instalación (se puede solicitar más tiempo en casos especiales). Unos sensores dispensan papel
higiénico, jabón y agua, y pueden incluso detectar una falta de movimiento en caso de que haya
una emergencia de salud. MARTA supervisará
el funcionamiento de estos dos baños antes de
seguir adelante con instalaciones adicionales.
