Baptisms for children take place in Spanish on the first and third
Saturday and third Sunday of the month at 2:00 pm and in English
on the second Sunday of the month at 2:00 pm. Parents must register the child at the Rectory at least one month in advance.

MERCY’’S ANNUAL CELEBRATIONS
Once again we give thanks to every one in the
community who joined us for our celebrations in
honor of Our Lady of Mercy’’s Feast Day! What a
beautiful sign of devotion and enthusiasm it was!
We thank the Sisters and the ushers who organized
the Procession, the Holy Rosary and the Concert on
Sept. 18th. Thank you to the choir, the lectors and
petition readers, the gift bearers, the Seminarians,
altar servers and the ushers. We also thank the Sisters for decorating the Church so beautifully and for
preparing the Blessed Mother as well. Thank you to
Angel Delgado for creating the Banners! Thank you
to team responsible for the Reception after Mass.
We thank those who prepared the Hall, cleaned
chairs and tables, set up the tables, decorated the
Hall and so forth. Thank you so much! We thank the
many people who worked before and during the
Parish Fair. Thanks to those who donated food and/
or gifts, those who represented their countries and
those who participated in one way or another. Without you all this would not be possible! Thank you so
very much for all you do!

Vigésimo séptimo Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario
EL REGALO DEL REINO DE DIOS
El Evangelio de hoy según san Mateo amplía
considerablemente la balada de Isaías. Una comparación con el mismo relato en el Evangelio según san
Marcos muestra que aquí el autor se ocupa de enseñar a
su comunidad de judío-cristianos: ““Este es un relato sobre el Israel de antaño; y es también un relato sobre
Jesús y los dudosos líderes””. Jesús llegó a decir a estos
líderes judíos que ellos eran los viñadores que primero
apedrearon a sus propios profetas. Y le dijo a los líderes
que ellos eran los viñadores que pronto se desharían de
él, Jesús, y que, al hacerlo, renunciarían a su papel privilegiado de presenter al Mesías prometido al mundo.
““Y éste””, dice el Evangelio según san Mateo, ““es un
relato sobre ustedes, los herederos de lo que fue
primeramente ofrecido a Israel””. El Reino de Dios fue
abierto primero para Israel y ahora es ofrecido a todo el
mundo, pero debe ser recibido como un regalo. Los
primeros cristianos son los nuevos viñadores. La más
profunda realidad del Reino de Dios es que está a
disposición de toda persona sobre la faz de la tierra,

for the Sacraments of First Holy Communion and/or

11:15 am to 12:45 pm. Confirmation’’s instructions in
English are Fridays at 5 pm and in Spanish Thursday at 5 pm.
ORGAN CAMPAIGN
We hope you were able to appreciate the sound of
the Virtual Organ during Our Lady of Mercy Feast
Day Mass. We thank Mr. Kenneth Farnum for bringing a version of the Organ to be played at that Mass.
We still need funds for our Organ, if you would like
to support our Organ Campaign, please take an Envelope entitled ““Organ Campaign”” and return it to
us with your name, address and amount included.
Our goal is to raise at least $27,000 so that we may
be able to install the new System and enjoy beautiful
Sacred Music, especially for the 160 Anniversary of
our parish! Please support this Campaign according
to your means and love for Church Sacred Music.

THE FAMILY MASS
Our Family Mass is celebrated at 10 am every
Sunday for the children preparing for the Sacraments
and their parents. The Mass is bi-lingual (English and
Spanish) and the children and the youth are encouraged to take active participation with the readings,
songs, collection etc. Participation in Holy Mass is
mandatory for every child in the Sacramental Program. Thank you!
CHILDREN’’S ENVELOPES
Every child in Communion or Confirmation class, should receive
a stack of envelopes for use at Sunday’’s Mass! Please ask your
Catechist if you have not receive them yet! Thank you!

Twenty-seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time
THE GIFT OF THE REIGN OF GOD
Matthew’’s Gospel today expands on Isaiah’’s ballad
considerably. A comparison with the same story in
Mark’’s Gospel clearly shows us that here the author is
busy teaching this community of Jewish Christians:
““This is a story about Israel a long time ago; this is also
a story about Jesus and the skeptical leaders.””
Jesus as much as told these Jewish leaders that they
were the tenants who first stoned their own prophets.
And he told the leaders they were the tenants who would
soon even dispose of him——Jesus——and, in doing so,
would forfeit their privileged place of presenting to the
world the promised Messiah. ““And this,”” says Matthew’’s
Gospel, ““is a story about you, the inheritors of what was
first offered to Israel.”” The reign of God was first opened
to Israel and is now given to the whole world, but it must
be received as a gift. The first Christians are the new tenants in the vineyard. The deeper reality of the reign or
kingdom of God is that it is available to everyone on the
face of the earth——Israel included.

Esperamos que le halla gustado la musica del Organo Virtual que tuvimos durante la Misa de la

MISA DE LA FAMILIA
La Misa de la Familia es celebrada todos los domingos a las 10 a.m. para los niños/as, y los jóvenes
del Catecismo, y sus padres. La Misa es bilingüe
(ingles y español), y se invita a los niños y jóvenes
del Catecismo a participar activamente con las lecturas, los cantos, la colecta etc. Le recordamos que
todos los niños y jóvenes del Catecismo deben

de las Mercedes! Fue un hermoso signo de devoción y amor hacia nuestra Madre! Le damos las gracias a las Hermanas Mariela, Verónica y Vianney
quienes organizaron la Procesión, el Santo Rosario,
las Flores, junto a los ujieres, grupos marianos, y
muchos otros, y también el Concierto, la venta de
comida junto a los Matrimonios y otros. Gracias!
Gracias al Coro, los lectores de la Palabra y las peticiones, a los de las ofrendas, a los monaguillos, Seminaristas, y ujieres. También le damos las gracias
a las Hermanas por decorar la Iglesia tan hermosa y
preparar a la Virgen junto a un grupo de damas de
la parroquia. Gracias a Ángel Delgado por hacer los
afiches que colgaron en el Santuario! Gracias al
Equipo responsable de la Recepción después de la
Misa! Gracias a los que ayudaron a preparar el
Salón, limpiando el salón, las sillas y mesas, a los
que donaron comida y trabajaron sirviendo y atendiendo a la gente! Muchísimas Gracias! Le damos
las gracias a todos los que trabajaron antes y durante la Feria. Gracias a los que donaron comida y/ regalos, a los que representaron sus países y a todos
los que participaron de una manera u otra. Sin su
ayuda no seria posible. Gracias a ustedes tuvimos
