OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST THE KING
First Reading: 2 Samuel 5:1-3
Samuel describes how all the tribes of Israel went to
David in Hebron and said they were his bone and
his flesh and it was he who led them back to Israel.
The Lord told David he would be a shepherd to His
people. David made an agreement with the elders
and was anointed king.
Second Reading: Colossians 1:12-20
Paul explains to the Colossians that God has made
them fit to share in the inheritance of the holy ones
in light and that through the Son we have redemption and forgiveness of sin. He describes Jesus as the
image of the invisible God, the head of the church
and in Him all things hold together.
Gospel: Luke 23:35-43
Jesus is mocked by the crowd as he hung on the
cross. Above him was an inscription that read “This
is the king of the Jews.” One of the men being crucified with Jesus tells Him to save them and Himself,
while the other asks that he be remembered when
Jesus is in his kingdom. Jesus said in reply, “Amen I
say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”

THANKSGIVING DAY - NOV 28
GIVING TREE
All are invited to give thanks to
God for the many gifts we have received from God on Thanksgiving
Day with the bilingual Mass we
will have at 9 AM. Let us set aside a
bit of time to give thanks to God in
the highest way, that is, with the Eucharist. The collection of this Mass will be dedicated to the needy in
our area; please help them as we are grateful for
God’s generosity with us.
Once again, this Advent Season we will
be sponsoring the Giving Tree for the
Park Hotel Home for Adults. If you
would like to participate, please choose a
tag today and purchase the specified gift.
This gift should be returned by Dec. 8th and placed
under the Christmas tree on the altar. God bless you

RECTORY CLOSED ON THANKSGIVING
Thursday, Nov 28, Thanksgiving Day and
Friday Nov 29th, we will have just one
Mass at 9AM, without evening Masses.
The Rectory office will be closed both
days in keeping with the civic festivity
and it will reopen on Monday, December 2nd.
PROTECTING GOD’S CHILDREN
On November 30th, there will be a session on the workshop ‘Protecting
God’s Children,’ 1-4 PM, in the Marian Room. Fr. Pablo and Gabby will
be registering all those interested in taking this class
on Nov 23rd from 12-2PM. It is very important, especially for those in contact with the youth of our parish. There will also be a Spanish session in the afternoon.
SAINT MARTIN DE PORRES GUILD
Today, Saint Martin de Porres Guild is holding their monthly meeting after the 10:30AM
Mass in the Marian Room. All are welcome!
ELECTIONS PASTORAL COUNCIL
Our Pastoral Council deals with the
sacramental, formational, ministerial,
evangelistic and social activities of
our parish. It meets four times a year
to evaluate, plan and carry out different activities for our church. Adult registered parishioners for over a year are eligible to become one of
the two members at-large of the council, representing either the English or the Spanish speaking part of
the parish. If you are interested in becoming a member of the Pastoral Council for three years, please,
return one of the Candidates’ Forms to the rectory
by December 1st. Election will take place on December 15th. For more information, you can call Martin

MEETING SPANISH MINISTERS
Sunday, November 24th, we will have a
meeting after each Spanish Mass for lectors, Eucharistic ministers and welcoming ministers in Spanish. Please, plan to
come to review procedures, chose coordinators and
to be able to serve in the next three months.
CHARTER SCHOOL RENTS BUILDING
Union County TEAMS Charter School
is starting renting the second floor of
our school building for their High
School program as of December 1st.
THANKSGIVING BREAK REL. ED.
There will be no religious education classes
from November 26 to December 1st. Classes will resume Dec. 3rd for Tuesday classes
and Dec. 6th for weekend classes.
OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE
The torch will arrive on the 8th and there
will be a procession from the library, culminating with the 1:30PM Mass. On Dec.
11th at 11:15PM there will be a procession
to start the celebration. The Mañanitas
will be sung by Mariachis and Marimbas
throughout the night culminating with a Mass at

ELECCIONES CONSEJO PASTORAL
El día 30 de noviembre habrá
una sesión para adultos y jóvenes que están en contacto con
nuestros niños y jóvenes de
“Protegiendo a los hijos de Dios,” de 9—12 PM. Hace falta inscribirse por antelación en el Internet. Para
facilitar la inscripción, el 23 de noviembre se le ayudará a inscribirse de 12-2PM en la rectoría.
El consejo pastoral se encarga de las
actividades sacramentales, ministeriales, de evangelización y sociales de
nuestra Parroquia. Se reúne cuatro
veces al año para evaluar, planear y
llevar a cabo diferentes actividades para nuestra
Iglesia. Parroquianos adultos registrados por más
de un año son elegibles para ser uno de los dos
miembros generales del consejo, para representar a
la parte anglo-parlante o hispano-parlante de nuestra parroquia. Si esta interesado en ser un miembro
del Consejo Pastoral por tres años, favor de retornar
uno de los formularios para candidatos a la oficina
para el 1ro de diciembre. Las elecciones serán el 15

Anunciamos que el Jueves 28 de Noviembre, Día de Acción de Gracias y el 29, viernes habrá solo una Misa a las 9AM cada
día y no habrá Misa de tarde. También la
oficina estará cerrada los dos días y no
abrirá de nuevo hasta el lunes 2 de diciembre.
PROTEGIENDO A LOS HIJOS DE DIOS

ESCUELA CHARTER
A partir del 1 de diciembre, la Escuela
Charter del Union County TEAMS, estará rentando el segundo piso de nuestra
escuela para su programa de secundaria!
RECESO DE ACCIÓN DE GRACIAS
No habrá clases de educación religiosa de 26 noviembre-1 diciembre. Las clases se reanudarán el
martes 03 de diciembre para las clases del martes y el
06 de diciembre para las clases de fin de semana.
Este domingo 24 de Noviembre hay una
reunión de los lectores, ministros de comunión y de acogida, al terminar cada una de
las Misas Hispanas. Por favor, venga para
revisar procedimientos, escoger coordinadores y poder servir en los próximos seis meses.
NUESTRA SEÑORA DE GUADALUPE
La antorcha Guadalupana llega este 8 de diciembre, y habrá una procesión desde la biblioteca que terminará con la Misa de
1:30PM. El 11 de diciembre a las 11:15 PM,
comenzaremos las celebraciones con una procesión.
Mariachis y marimbas cantarán las mañanitas a través de la noche y culminaremos con la Misa a las

EXPLANATION OF THE MASS: THE FINAL DOXOLOGY
The word “doxology” comes from the Greek “doxa”
which means “glory”. Doxology, therefore, means
glorification.
Each celebration of the Mass has this function of
praise, of blessing, and of glorification. However, the
Eucharistic Prayer is the heart of this liturgy. The
Prayer begins with the preface, lifting our hearts up
to the Father. Then, comes the Sanctus, proclaiming
God’s holiness and glory that fills the universe. At
the end of the Eucharistic Prayer, the priest recites
this concluding doxology, praising the Trinity. In
this prayer, the priest elevates the Sacred Victim up
high, above all temporal realities, and says:“Through
Him, with Him and in Him, in the unity of the Holy
Spirit, all glory and honor is yours, almighty Father,
for ever and ever.”
The Church believes in the mediation of Christ alone
and His supreme Priesthood. Only “through Him,
with Him and in Him” can we reach the Father. Our
lives united to His life, to His death and to His resurrection, are glory and honor to the Trinity.
Now is a good time to point out the fact that the active participation of the faithful does not consist in
reciting together with the priest
this doxological prayer. According to the General Instruction of
the Roman Missal, “The concluding doxology of the Eucharistic
Prayer is spoken solely by the
principal priest celebrant and, if
this is desired, together with the
other concelebrants, but not by the faithful.” The
Christian people complete the great Trinitarian Doxology by saying “Amen.” With this ‘Amen’, the
faithful ratify the holy Sacrifice of the Mass. The
word ‘Amen’ is possibly the principal acclamation of
the Christian liturgy. According to different contexts,
‘Amen’ means: “This is it, this is the truth, so, be it.”
As in the whole liturgy, saying ‘Amen’ has a vital
meaning. It shouldn’t be a mere response with the
lips, but rather, it has the value of uniting us to the
mystery that we celebrate. Saying ‘Amen’ means
uniting ourselves with Christ, desiring to make our
whole life a doxology, that is, a glorification of the
Trinity, united to the Paschal mystery of the Redeemer.
EXPLICACIÓN DE LA MISA: DOXOLOGIA FINAL
La palabra “doxología” viene
del griego “doxa”, que significa “gloria”. Doxología, por
tanto, significa glorificación.
Toda la celebración de la Misa
tiene esta función de alabanza, de bendición, de glorificación. Pero la plegaria eucarística es el corazón
de esta liturgia. La plegaria comienza con el prefacio,
levantando los corazones hacia el Padre. Continúa
con el Sanctus, proclamando la santidad de Dios y su
gloria que llena el universo. Al final de la plegaria
eucarística, el sacerdote recita esta doxología final,
alabanza de la Trinidad. En ella, el sacerdote eleva la
Víctima sagrada y sosteniéndola en alto, por encima
de todas las realidades temporales, dice: «Por Cristo,
con Él y en Él, a ti, Dios Padre omnipotente, en la
unidad del Espíritu Santo, todo honor y toda gloria
por los siglos de los siglos».
La Iglesia confiesa la única mediación de Cristo y su
Sacerdocio supremo. Sólo “por Cristo, con Él y el Él”
podemos llegar al Padre. Nuestras vidas unidas a su
vida, a su muerte y a su resurrección, son honor y
gloria de la Trinidad.
Es éste un buen momento para señalar que la participación activa de los fieles, no consiste en recitar juntamente con el sacerdote esta fórmula doxológica.
Según la Ordenación General del Misal Romano, “la
doxología final de la Plegaria eucarística la pronuncia solamente el sacerdote principal y, si parece bien,
juntamente con los demás concelebrantes, pero no
los fieles”.
El pueblo cristiano completa la gran doxología trinitaria diciendo: Amén. Es el Amén más solemne de la
Misa. La palabra Amén es quizá la aclamación litúrgica principal de la liturgia cristiana.
Como toda la liturgia, la pronunciación del Amén
tiene un sentido vital. No debe ser una mera respuesta dada con los labios, sino que tiene un valor de adhesión al misterio que se celebra. Decir Amén significa unirse con Cristo, desear hacer de mi vida una doxología, es decir, una glorificación de la Trinidad
unido al misterio pascual del Redentor.
