Special Replay Telecast: World Day of Prayer for Vocations
Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 8:30pm and Friday, May 16, 2014 at 8:00pm
From the original broadcast: "Vocations are born in prayer and from prayer;
and only through prayer can they persevere and bear fruit."

THE WAY
In today’s Gospel reading we hear part
of Jesus’ discourse at the Last Supper as
reported in the Gospel of John. “I am the
way and the truth and life,” Jesus
assures his disciples. At that time they
did not understand what he meant; they
wanted easy answers. “Just show us the
Father,” Philip begged. But the first and second readings show us how
the early church came to understand Jesus’ words. The amazing growth
of the church led them to select seven men to do the works of service
needed with so many new members. The followers of Jesus had grown
in such numbers that Peter could exclaim in his Letter over the fact that
Christ, the “rejected stone,” was now the cornerstone on whom the
salvation of all the world rests. Down to this present day, he is truly the
way, the truth, and the life. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
Those words of Pope Francis remind us of the importance of prayer, that
behind and before every vocation, there is someone praying: a parent, a
grandparent, a community. Prayer nurtures and strengthens vocations. We
would like to invite you for a Special Replay Telecast: on Thursday, May
15, 2014 at 8:30pm and Friday, May 16, 2014 at 8:00pm for the 51st
Annual World Day of Prayer for Vocations. Our Bishop, Armando Ochoa,
will be leading us in a Holy Hour before the Blessed Sacrament: praise,
adoration and prayer for vocations. For those who've already said "Yes", our
priests and religious, our married couples who are living out their God given
call, and for those who may be considering: our young people, our men and
women in our parishes who are hearing the call of Christ, that they may have
the courage to say "Yes". Please join us for a Holy Hour for Vocations.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION COMING SOON!
God sent Jesus, His only son, as an
example of how to live. Sometimes I get
so wrapped up in my own plans for myself
that I forget to seek out God’s plan for
me. I know that His plan is greater than I
could ever imagine, but it is still scary to
consciously give complete control
to someone else. The disciples had God
right in front of them, and they still had to
be told that He was there. It makes me
wonder, how often do I miss God’s
obvious signals?

THE WAY
Copyright © J. S.

@Pontifex_es 13 de mayo.
@Pontifex_es 12 de mayo.
Cristo. Dejémonos renovar siempre por este
amor.
@Pontifex_es 10 de mayo.
Unámonos todos en oración por la inmediata
liberación de las niñas secuestradas en
Nigeria. #BringBackOurGirls.
@Pontifex_es 10 de mayo.
@Pontifex_es 9 de mayo.
personas, especialmente
a las más débiles.

Stress in Your Marriage?
Retrouvaille: A Lifeline for Troubled
Marriages, is a program for married
couples that feel bored, disillusioned,
frustrated or angry in their marriage. Some
experience coldness. Others experience
conflict in their relationship. Most don’t
know how to change the situation or even
communicate with their spouse about it.
This program has helped 10’s of 1000’s of
couples experiencing difficulties in their
marriage. For confidential information
about or to register for the upcoming
program in Three Rivers from June 13th
through 15th, please call
Dave & Sylvia Langton at

Celebrate the 500th anniversary of St.
Teresa of Avila’s birth with the Discalced
Carmelites on August 21-23, 2014 in San
José, at the Fairmont Hotel, with a
solemn Mass at the Cathedral Basilica of
St. Joseph! For more information, and to
register, visit www.stj500westernus.com,
or call (408) 529-1004.
Blessings in the spirit of St. Teresa,
true friend of Jesus.
In the past year, Catholic Charities has provided over 187,000
units of service to those in need throughout the Diocese with
food, clothing and other needed services. Due to the drought,
we have great concern that this number will increase over the
months and years ahead. The average income for a family of
four seeking assistance was less than $8,000.00 per year and
that may go down even more with the water situation. Of those
receiving food, forty three percent were under the age of 17. For your
information, with every dollar that is donated to Catholic Charities, 88
cents goes directly back to programs and services. Please help us to
continue providing these valuable services to those less fortunate by
giving of your treasure during our annual Special Collection the
weekend of May17th-May 18th. Feel free to contact Kelly Lilles,
Executive Director at Catholic Charities email: [email protected] or
by phone 559-237-0851 for more information. Thank you and God
bless you for your kindness and generosity.
