Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Happy Feast of the Pentecost. May the Fire of the
Holy Spirit purify and cleanse your hearts of all sin
and set you on the path of salvation. May the Advocate from above make you a valiant soldier in
defense of the Faith and may His grace help you to
overcome all your enemies until the Day of the
Lord has come.
St. Toribio Carnival
Today our parish celebrates the annual St. Toribio
Carnival. First there will be a procession beginning
at 8:00 a.m. from St. Francis Xavier Church to Sts.
Peter and Paul Church (a distance of about four
miles). When the “pilgrims” arrive at our parish
there will be an open air Mass at 11:00 a.m. in the
parking lot behind the gym followed by the Carnival. At the Carnival there will be live music, food,
games, and time to socialize with each other. it is a
great family day and so bring the kids and come to
the Carnival.
Our Mass schedule at the parish in the Church will
be the same as every other Sunday: 7:30 a.m.
Spanish Mass, 9:00 a.m. English Mass, 10:30 a.m.
Latin Mass, 12:30 p.m. Spanish Mass and 6:00
p.m. Spanish Mass.
Shane Robert Hewson
Let us welcome to our parish one of our seminarians named Shane Hewson. Shane has finished 2nd
Pre-Theology and is ready now to study Theology.
He has been studying at Mount St. Mary of the
West Seminary in Cincinnati. Shane will be with
us for about a month but will be involved in various aspects of our parish mainly to get a little more
experience of pastoral ministry. He speaks both
Spanish and English which will be helpful as he
gets to know our people. He should be here on
Tuesday of this week.

Benefit Recital at T.U.
Kayla Jones has generously offered to do a Benefit
Recital on Thursday, May 28th at T.U. at 7:30 p.m.
It is free and open to the public. Donations will be
accepted at the door for the construction of the
Chapel of St. Toribio Romo. I am very grateful for
Kayla and the way she is offering her talent to help
us with this project. I hope to see many of you
there. She is a fantastic pianist and vocalist.
Anniversary of Ordination
Padre Juan Pablo will celebrate his eighth anniversary of ordination on Monday, May 25th. Please
say a special prayer for him that day that he continue to remain faithful in his priesthood and serve
the Lord with fidelity until the day of his death. I
am so grateful for his assistance here at the parish
and I think all of us feel that way. Happy Anniversary Padre Juan Pablo!
Padre Juan Antonio Hernandez
Beginning June 1st Padre Juan Antonio Hernandez
will be with us at our parish for about a month. He
is visiting from El Salvador and will be offering
Masses and doing pastoral work in the parish until
July. Please welcome him with a special Mass on
Monday, June 1st at 7:00 p.m. in Spanish and a
reception afterwards.

Newman Center
TU Catholic Newman Center will resume its
8PM Sunday Mass for the Summer starting on
Sunday, June 7th and going until Sunday, July
26th. Confessions will be heard from 6:457:45pm prior to Mass.

From Bishop Slattery
As of April 24, 2015, we are approximately $730,000 short of our $4 million budget
(for the DDF). Unless we can make up for this
deficit we will have to curtail some of the services
that we provide parishes and to the diocese as a
whole.
I have already sent a letter to the households that have not made a gift or pledge this year.
The increased number of those households was
significant and is the main reason why there is
such a shortfall this year.
On the other hand, many good things have
happened this year. This past year have seen some
extraordinary projects started. For example, our
Rooted in Faith campaign to benefit seminary education, school tuition scholarships, priest retirement fund, and rural outreach went beyond our
expectations. Also, many parishes have been conducting their own fund-raising campaigns for
building projects. Nevertheless, the diocese must
find a way to make up for this year’s extraordinary
deficit so that we can continue our day-to-day operations.

Classical pianist Kayla Jones
will be performing a benefit concert to raise funds for the
Saint Toribio Romo Chapel in
Tulsa. The performance will be
on Thursday, May 28th, 2015 at
7:30 PM. This piano recital will
be held in the Gussman Concert
Hall of the Lorton Performing Arts Center on the
University of Tulsa campus (5th and Harvard). The benefit concert will feature works by
Beethoven, Busoni, and Ernesto Lecuona. Admission is free and open to the public with donations
to be accepted for the Saint Toribio Romo

St. Joseph Monastery
The Benedictine Sisters of St. Joseph Monastery
sponsor a retreat/workshop three times each year
titled: The School of Lectio Divina. It is held at
the monastery, 2200 South Lewis Registration is

Diocese of Tulsa-Office of Vocations
QEV-Life Awareness Project
On June 26th single Catholic men and
women between the ages 17 and 45 are invited to
the St. Philip Neri Newman Center on the campus
of the University of Tulsa for a weekend of presentations, group discussions, private consultations
and prayer, focused upon how God might be calling them. The program is designed to help participants make a more informed choice of their vocation, whatever that vocation may be. For more information, contact Fr. Elkin González,

10 Ways to Defend the
Faith-without raising your
voice and losing friends.
3. People won’t remember
what you said as much as
how you made them feel.
Aim for civility, empathy, clarity, and kindness in faith conversations.
Try to use simple words to explain complex ideas
and keep overly theological language to a minimum.
4. Show, don’t tell.
Stories are compelling. Work with what
you know. Think of yourself not as a spokesman of
a remote corporation, but as a delighted disciple
with stories and experiences to share!
5. Think in triangles.
We tend to have disjointed, meandering
discussions about faith, which could confuse people engaging in discussion. Try not to get distracted, and stay on point. Have three points and
know how they relate to one another. You may not
get through them all, but if you do, go back to
them.
Like Pope Francis begging us to never tire of asking God for his forgiveness, don’t be afraid to repeat your most compelling message. If it’s worth
hearing, it bears repeating.
6. Be positive.
So many people see the Church as a list of
prohibitions. Yet, the Church calls us to the fullness of life. Our model is Mary, the first and perfect disciple, who said yes to God. The Church is
not a grim-faced moral cop. Share your experience
of your parish and the joy of the life of the Gospel
in the spirit of Mother Teresa-a Christian who was
attentive to the most forgotten. Point to her and
countless contemporary saintly lives you know.

Carnaval de Santo Toribio
Hoy celebramos la Carnaval Anual de Santo Toribio. Vamos a tener una procesión comenzando a
las 8:00 am de San Francisco Javier a San Pedro y
San Pablo (una distancia de cuatro millas). Cuando lleguen los peregrinos a nuestra parroquia ofreceremos una Misa al aire libre en el parqueadero
detrás del gimnasio y luego se llevara acabo la
Kermes. Habrá música, comida, juegos y tiempo
para conocer uno a otro. Es un día familiar así que
favor traer los niños y disfruten de la Kermes.
El horario de Misa será como normal hoy: 7:30 am
Misa en español, 9:00 am Misa en inglés, 10:30 am
Misa en latín, 12:30 pm Misa en español y a las
6:00 pm Misa en español.

Damos la bienvenida a Shane Hewson, un seminarista. Shane ha terminado el Segundo Pre-Teología
y ahora esta lista para estudiar Teología. El esta
estudiando en el Seminario del Oeste de Santa María en Cincinnati. Shane quedara con nosotros un
mes y estará involucrado en varios aspectos de la
parroquia principalmente para experimentar el ministerio pastoral. El habla español e inglés que ayudara a conocer a nuestra gente. El llega el martes
de esta semana.
Recital en la Universidad de Tulsa
Kayla Jones generosamente ha ofrecido presentar
un recital jueves, el 28 de mayo, en la Universidad
de Tulsa a las 7:30 pm. Es gratis y abierto al publico. Aceptarán donaciones para la construcción
del Santuario de Santo Toribio Romo. Estoy muy

Aniversario de Ordenación
El Padre Juan Pablo celebrara su octavo aniversario de ordenación este lunes, el 25 de mayo. Favor
orar una oración especial por el ese día que continuara fiel en su sacerdocio y servirá al Señor fielmente hasta su muerte. Estoy muy agradecido por
