BUT JESUS WALKED AWAY FROM
THERE... LK 4:21-30
PERO JESUS SE ALEJÓ DE ALLÍ ...
LK 4: 21 a 30
The PEOPOE OF Nazareth all knew Jesus and were
thrilled that he returned to their village, they were
amazed at his wisdom and way of speaking, but
when he told them the truth, they become furious
and tried to kill him. Three years later Jesus would
be crucified for giving testimony to the Eternal
Truth. Because of their lack of faith they could not
accept Jesus and he was not able to heal them, they
closed themselves off from his saving presence.
Toda la GENTE de Nazaret conocían a Jesús y estaban encantados de que regresó a su aldea, se quedaron
admirados de su sabiduría y su manera de hablar, pero
cuando les dijo la verdad, se enfurecieron y trataron
de matarlo. Tres años más tarde, Jesús sería crucificado por dar testimonio de la Verdad Eterna. Debido a
su falta de fe no podían aceptar a Jesús y Él no pudo
sanarlos, se cerraron a sí mismos de su presencia salvadora.
Today Jesus continues to proclaim the Eternal Truth
through His Body, the Church, and yes he continues
to be rejected and abused. When a Catholic defends
the right to life of the unborn, there can be an immediate reaction referring to the person as a
“Terrorist” who opposed Woman’s Rights. If a
Catholic speaks of self-evident truth concerning
Marriage, the term “Homophobic’ is used along
with references to “Civil Rights”. In general, people
want a “Comfortable” God, One that they can control by some simple prayers and Who is not challenge a person to change. The sadness of human life
is that Jesus is present to set us free, heal and enliven us, and yet through our sinfulness we hide from
him and even reject him. He cannot heal those who
refuse to accept him.
Hoy Jesús sigue proclamando la Verdad Eterna a través de Su Cuerpo, la Iglesia, y sí sigue siendo rechazado y maltratado. Cuando un católico defiende el
derecho a la vida del no nacido, puede haber una
reacción inmediata en referencia a la persona como
"Terrorista" que se opone a los Derechos de la Mujer.
Si un Católico habla de la verdad evidente sobre el
Matrimonio, el término "Homofobia" se utiliza junto
con las referencias a los "Derechos Civiles". En general, la gente quiere un Dios "Fácil". Uno que ellos
pueden controlar con algunas simple oraciones y Uno
que no rete una persona a cambiar. La tristeza de la
vida humana es que Jesús está presente para liberarnos, sanarnos y animarnos, y sin embargo a través de
nuestra pecaminosidad nos escondemos de Él e incluso lo rechazamos. Él no puede sanar a aquellos que se
niegan a aceptarlo.
God is patient and loving even until the very end.
Those who could not accept him at Nazareth, are
now with him, but how sad that they lived so long
in sickness and pain, until they accepted him. Today
is the same, people are suffering and afraid; but instead of accepting Jesus as their savior, they will
react with compulsive behaviors that are selfdestructive—alcohol, drugs, sex, or other violence.
Examine your life and see how you have failed to
accept his healing truth, review the pain that you
inflicted on yourself. Rejoice in the times that you
finally accepted his peace. Make the commitment to
make time to be with him and grow in his truth, his
light, his life. Accept his healing forgiveness, be
strengthened in his divine food, come alive in him.
Dios es paciente y amoroso aún hasta el final. Los
que no lo podían aceptar en Nazaret, ahora están con
Él, pero lo triste que vivieron tanto tiempo en la enfermedad y el dolor, hasta que lo aceptaron. Hoy es lo
mismo, la gente está sufriendo y con miedo; pero en
lugar de aceptar a Jesús como su salvador, reaccionaran con comportamientos compulsivos que son autodestructores—alcohol, drogas, sexo y violencia.

Jubilee Year of Mercy
Rave reviews greeted Jesus’
first hometown homily proclaiming a year of God’s mercy,
but the mood turned violent
when he went on to declare
that God’s mercy embraces outsiders; it rejects distinctions between citizen and foreigner, acceptable and unworthy, even
sinner and saint. Far from being
anyone’s personal possession,
God’s kingdom is open to everyone, God’s love unconditional,
God’s mercy boundless. By this Jubilee Year of Mercy,
Pope Francis repeats Jesus’ challenge in today’s Gospel to broaden our horizons until our vision matches
Jesus’ vision of every sinner as a potential saint, and
each suffering stranger as our neighbor. Jesus, says
Pope Francis, continually went beyond the law, keeping company with public sinners and even sharing
meals with them to demonstrate that God’s mercy is
“the beating heart of the Gospel” (Misericordiae Vultus, 12). To be truly Jesus’ disciples, such unconditional love and boundless mercy must also be at the center of all we say and do. —

Recibieron con muy buenas criticas la primera homilía de Jesús proclamando un año de la Misericordia de Dios en su tierra natal, pero el estado de
ánimo se tornó violenta cuando él llegó a declarar
que la misericordia de Dios también incluía fuereños; rechaza las distinciones entre ciudadanos y
extranjeros, aceptables e indignos, incluso pecador
y santo. Lejos de ser la posesión personal de cualquier persona, el reino de Dios está abierto a todo

All Parish Volunteers are asked to contact their
group leaders to confirm their participation in the
Ash Wednesday Liturgies. It is a wonderful day in
which we are able to extend a loving welcome to
many of our sisters and brothers who are not always as active as they need to be. Our loving welcome has encourages hundreds to return home.
We will have over 52 liturgies throughout the day.

and looks forward to more involvement in the community. He will not tow away parishioners’ cars and only

respect for store customers, to please PARK AT THE
SIDE OF THE STORE –NOT IN FRONT.

has Programs protecting God’s children guided towards
parents and guardians and it’s the program for Safety
towards physical contact.

miss this opportunity to take the class.

Together in Mission
Unidos en Misión
In today’s readings we are told of the different gifts,
forms of service, and workings that come from God.
These manifestations of the Spirit come to fruition
through us, for we have ability to give the gifts of faith,
healing, and of mighty deeds.
De las lecturas de hoy nos enteramos de los diferentes dones, formas de servicio y funcionamiento que vienen de
Dios. Estas manifestaciones del Espíritu vienen a la vida a
través de nosotros, porque tenemos capacidad de dar a los
dones de la fe, la curación y de milagros.
Today God calls upon each one of us here to share our
gifts with our brothers and sisters in Christ that are in
need of them. Through Together in Mission we can share
our mighty deeds and give the healing and faith to the
communities that simply would not be here without
them.
Though our church is large, our strength lies not in our
numbers, but in our compassion and ability to respond.
Every gift, regardless of the size, matters. What is important is that we give what we can and answer this calling of our faith.
During all Masses next weekend, we will conduct the inpew process for the collection of gifts & pledges to this
year’s appeal. Together we can make sure God’s love and
presence are felt by all, especially those in need.
God bless you for your generous response and support.
