Divine Mercy Parish July 10, 2016 15th Sunday in Ordinary Time Monthly Catechesis on Mercy Sunday, July 10 7:15-7:45 pm, Church TONIGHT! Topic: “Healing” Presenter: Deacon Larry Oney Family Prayer L oving and faithful God, through the years the people of our archdiocese have appreciated the prayers and love of Our Lady of Prompt Succor in times of war, disaster, epidemic and illness. We come to you, Father, with Mary our Mother, and ask you to help us in the battle of today against violence, murder and racism. We implore you to give us your wisdom that we may build a community founded on the values of Jesus, which gives respect to the life and dignity of all people. Bless parents that they may form their children in faith. Bless and protect our youth that they may be peacemakers of our time. Give consolation to those who have lost loved ones through violence. Hear our prayer and give us the perseverance to be a voice for life and human dignity in our community. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Our Lady of Prompt Succor, hasten to help us. Mother Henriette Delille, pray for us that we may be a holy family. Que descansen en paz! “Dios es rico en misericordia . . .” Efesios 2:4 Page 8 Divine Mercy Parish Most of us shy away from the sight of blood and yet we each contain six pints of it in our body, and would die instantly without it. We read in the New Testament that Jesus sweated drops of blood in the Garden of Gethsamene, brought on by His intense suffering for our sins. On the cross, His heart was pierced and He emptied Himself to the last drop to save us from ourselves. During the consecration of each Mass, the wine in the chalice is transformed into His Most Precious Blood, and then offered for our consumption. Why then is the world not transformed? Perhaps because many of us do not really believe. Jesus we adore You. Heal our unbelief! Eternal Father, I offer You the most Precious Blood of Jesus Christ, in satisfaction for my sins, in supplication for the holy souls in Purgatory and for the needs of Holy Church [especially for the soul of (Name)]. Reflection by Anne-Marie d’Abadie Barrilleaux. Bring the pierced Heart of Jesus into your home through the enthronement of the Sacred Heart. For information please contact Anne-Marie d'Abadie at 443-2204 or email [email protected] (English), or Lynda Pena at 3384306 (Spanish). In today’s gospel, Luke 10:25-37, the care and concern shown by the “Good Samaritan,” exemplify one of the ways we can truly “Love” our neighbor. A Life Teen author reminds us, ”If we are to truly show love towards our neighbor, our acts of charity need to be more than just throwing a few dollars into the collection.” At Life Teen and Edge we discus ways that we can be “Good Samaritans” in our families, schools & communities. Come and join us as we strive to be “Good Samaritans” and imitate Christ. Couples Day in the Spirit The marriage ministry will host a “Couples Day in the Spirit” on Saturday July 16th presented by Deacon Larry & Andi Oney, in the Parish Community Center. You are invited to join other married couples for a day to strengthen your relationship with the Holy Spirit and each other. The event is from 8:30 am to 4pm. Continental breakfast and lunch will be served for $45 per couple. There are flyers in the narthex for more information or contact Anthony or Gayle Britz by email at [email protected] In July 2015, a beautiful garden Memorial for children who attended St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School and/or who worshipped at St. Elizabeth/Divine Mercy was dedicated on our school grounds. It was gifted by some of our SEAS families in memory of their children and others who have died. The Memorial is outside the doors of the school office and eventually will be moved to the new school grounds when our new school is built. You are invited to visit and offer a prayer for our children any time. If you or anyone you know would like to add a name to this Memorial in memory of a young or an adult child who attended SEAS or worshipped in our church community, please feel free to contact Mary T or Jim deBrueys so that we can help make that possible. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though You have already come, I embrace You and unite myself entirely to You; never permit me to be separated from You.
