IMPORTANT LECTOR MEETING SCHEDULED
As we prepare for our Holy Days it is important
that all our lectors be well prepared. To that end
we are having an important meeting for all lectors,
new and old, no matter what your experience level
is, and those of you who have been thinking maybe this is the ministry you are being called to! The
meeting is on Saturday, March 12 at 10:30 a.m.
Please come prepared to learn more about the importance of proclaiming the Word to the best of
your ability.
A Lenten Note
Stations of the Cross are being prayed each Friday during Lent immediately following the 8:30 a.m. Mass. All
are welcome to join us in prayer at approximately 9:00
a.m.
Easter Offerings
It occurred to us that we should let you know that in
addition to using the Easter envelopes at the doors of
the church, you are also free to use Parish Pay to make
a special donation. You can do this even if you aren’t a
regular Parish pay user! Simply go to
www.parishpay.com and find the right page for St
Francis de Sales church. (you only need to plug in our
zip code and click on our parish name). Click on make
a donation; then under ‘secondary collection’ there is
an item called ‘Easter Fund’. That’s where you can put
in your amount. Directly underneath is a place to ‘add
dedication’ if you wish to make your donation in honor of a loved one, living or deceased. The last thing to
do is let them know how you want to pay and your
done! Try it and see if you like this way of supporting
your church!
Holy Week Help!!

What are the Scrutinies?
Holy Week Schedule
The scrutinies are prayers for the Elect, those to be baptized at the Easter Vigil. The scrutinies are rites of selfsearching and repentance. They are meant to uncover,
then heal, all that is weak defective or sinful in the
hearts of the elect, to bring out and strengthen all that is
upright, strong and good. We pray the elect will be delivered from the power of evil and find their strength in
Christ. Listen to the prayers chanted today. We pray
not only for our Elect, but for ourselves too.

Easter Basket donations and Fair Trade
Chocolate
As a parish we are working with LITTLE SISTERS
OF THE ASSUMPTION in East Harlem to provide 30
Easter baskets filled with toys and candy for their little
ones. We appreciate all the fun items you may choose
to add to the collection boxes. Recently we were reminded about the benefits of purchasing ‘fair trade
chocolate’, that is candy from companies that DO NOT
rely on child labor and human trafficking in cocoa production in West Africa. For more information on this
important topic, flyers will be available by the collection boxes. For your information, the first chocolate
company listed that supports fair trade, that DOES
NOT USE SLAVE LABOR, is CADBURY! Please
see the flyers for more details. Thank you.
CLOSER THAN YOU THINK
Many of life’s failures are people who
did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.
