Eugénio R. Duarte
Dr. Eugénio R. Duarte is a general superintendent in the Church of the Nazarene
with an office at the Global Ministry Center in Lenexa, Kansas, USA.
He was chosen for the highest elected office in the church at the 27th General
Assembly held in Orlando, Florida, USA, in 2009. At the time of his election, Dr.
Duarte was serving as the Africa regional director for the denomination.
Prior to that assignment he was the director for the Africa West and French
Equatorial Fields, where he facilitated the expansion of the church into Sierra Leone
and the Reunion Islands and developed a strategy to enter Guinea Bissau. Dr.
Duarte has also served as director for the Africa Lusophone Field, directing the start
of our work in Equatorial Guinea, and as field director for Central Africa.
Before this he was a teacher and the director of the Seminario Nazareno de Cabo
Verde (SNCV), district superintendent of Cape Verde, and pastor of the Porto Novo
and Mindelo Churches of the Nazarene.
Duarte was born in Brava, Cape Verde, and accepted Christ under the ministry of the Church of the Nazarene at the
age of twelve. He received his call to preach shortly after his conversion, was mentored by his pastor, and was
ordained by Dr. Orville Jenkins Sr. in 1981. He studied at SNCV and received his Master of Arts degree from Azusa
Pacific University, California, USA. In 2012 he received his Master in Business Administration from Northwest
Nazarene University, Nampa, Idaho, USA. He was bestowed the honorary Doctor of Divinity by Africa Nazarene
University in May 2006.
Dr. Duarte and his wife, Maria Teresa, moved from Johannesburg, South Africa, to the Kansas City area in the fall
of 2009. They have three sons, Sergio, Francisco, and Richard, and two grandsons, Gabriel and Ben Amar.

Duarte nació en Brava , Cabo Verde, y aceptó a Cristo bajo el ministerio de la

REV. CALEB HERRERA Rasgos biográficos
Nació en la ciudad de Monterrey, sus primeros años los vivía en el Instituto Bíblico del Distrito
Norte de México, donde su padre, el Rev. Francisco Herrera, estudiaba, y luego fue el director.
De sus primeros 28 años de vida, 20 los vivió en Institutos bíblicos y seminarios.
A los 18 años de edad se fue a la universidad de Bethany para estudiar ciencia y así huir de Dios.
Graduó con concentraciones en biología, química y Teología.
Graduó con Maestría en Microbiología de la Universidad de Texas en San Antonio (UTSA) en
1981, y brevemente fue maestro de ciencia en el Seminario Nazareno Hispanoamericano en San
Antonio.
Trabajó en experimentación científica desde 1979 hasta su jubilación en el año 2007 y continuó
trabajando parte del tiempo hasta el año 2013, cuando Dios le llamó a ser el Superintendente del
Distrito Latino Texas Oklahoma.
Trabajando en ‘The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio,’ Dios le llamó a ser líder juvenil, y leyendo el libro
misionero “SONS OF AFRICA, Stories from the life of Elmer Schmelzenbach,” Un regalo de graduación de parte de los misioneros Black,
Fue que Dios le recordó que le estaba llamando al ministerio. Aceptó su llamado en 1988, y principio pastoreando la Iglesia de Las
Palmas, donde ha estado ya por más de 25 años.
Con él al pastoreado le apoyan Aurora, su esposa. Y sus hijos Ruskin Caleb, ahora aviador de F-15 en la Fuerza Aérea, estacionado en
Inglaterra, casado con Marie Ryan y su primer bebé; Denia Keren, Maestra y casada con otro piloto de F-16, Russel Burkhard,
estacionados en Corea. Y Astrid April; maestra de cuarto año y casada con Roberto Sierra.
En los 25 años de ministerio, Dios le ha dado el privilegio, y bendición de ver la iglesia local crecer en número, finanzas, edificios, y
terreno.
Con la ayuda de Dios ha ministrado en California, Nuevo México, Colorado, Georgia, Monterrey, La Huasteca Potosina, Guadalajara.
ae trabajado en la iglesia Global como miembro del Concilio General de Jóvenes; y ha sido intérprete de Juntas Generales,
Convenciones y Asamblea General ya por 20 años.
También ha gozado de dos privilegios. Uno, el estar en uno de los centros donde nació la Iglesia del Nazareno en Kyoto, Japón. El
otro, estar en la Casa de Juan Wesley, y en la Calle ‘Aldersgate’ donde nació el Wesleyanismo.
Al presente sirve como el Pastor del Distrito Latino Texas Oklahoma y Pastor de la Iglesia del Nazareno Las Palmas en San Antonio,
Texas. El Menciona que su único deseo es “ser usado por Dios”.
REV, CALEB HERRERA
Born in Monterrey, Mexico, his early years he lived in the Bible Institute of Northern Mexico City, where his father, the Rev. Francisco
Herrera , studied, and then his father became the director .
In its first 28 years, 20 were spent in Bible institutes and seminaries.
At 18 years old he went to Bethany College to study science and so run away from God. He graduated with concentrations in Biology,
Chemistry and Theology.
Graduated with a Masters in Microbiology from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) in 1981 and was briefly science teacher
at the Spanish Nazarene Seminary in San Antonio.
He worked in scientific experimentation from 1979 until his retirement in 2007 and continued to work part time until 2013, when
God called him to be the Texas District Superintendent Latino Oklahoma.
Working on 'The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, "God called him to be a youth leader, and reading the
missionary book" SONS OF AFRICA, Stories from the life of Elmer Schmelzenbach, " A graduation gift from the Black missionaries ,
was reminded that God was calling him to the ministry. He accepted his call in 1988, and early shepherding the Church of Las Palmas,
where he has been for over 25 years.
Aurora, his wife agreed to follow the pastorate,. And their children Caleb Ruskin, now Flier F-15 in the Air Force, stationed in England,
married to Marie Ryan and expecting her first baby, Denia Keren, Teacher and married to another F -16 pilot , Russel Burkhard,
stationed in Korea. And Astrid April; fourth year teacher and committed Roberto Sierra.
In the 25 years of ministry, God has given the privilege and blessing of seeing the local church grow in numbers, finance, buildings
and grounds.
With the help of God has ministered in California, New Mexico, Colorado, Georgia , Monterrey, The Huasteca, Guadalajara, and
worked in the church as a member of Global General Youth Council , and has been interpreter of General Meetings and Conventions
and General Assembly for 20 years.
He has also enjoyed two privileges. One, being in one of the centers where the Church of the Nazarene was born in Kyoto, Japan. The
other, being in the home of John Wesley, and in the Street ' Aldersgate ' where Wesleyanism born.
Presently serves as the Pastor of Oklahoma and Texas Latino District Pastor of the Church of the Nazarene Las Palmas in San Antonio,
Texas. The mentions that his only desire is "to be used by God."

ACTAS DE LA LXVIII ASAMBLEA DE DISTRITO
La LXVIII Asamblea empezó con júbilo y alabanza del servicio de apertura por la noche del
Martes 1ero. De Abril de este año 2014. Nuestro Superintendente General Eugenio Duarte trajo un
mensaje poderoso hablando de la necesidad de la Koinonia (unidad) que se necesita en la Iglesia
acompañada con el amor que puede cambiar a los corazones que no conocen a Jesucristo.
Por la Mañana del Miércoles se principió con un devocional dirigido por el Reverendo Rogelio
López seguido por un poderoso mensaje que presento el superintendente Eugenio Duarte.
Siendo las 9:00 AM, se dio principio a los negocios de la Asamblea en la cual el Secretario de
Distrito, Reverendo Jose Ayala pidió que las primeras 5 filas de sillas sirvieran como barra de votación,
a lo cual los delegados tomaron su lugar dejando las sillas de atrás para nuestros visitantes. Después
recomendó y nombro a las siguientes personas como ayudantes:
María Alvarado y Velia Vázquez Secretarias de Registro,
Ruth Mendoza secretaria de actas,
Iván Martínez, Delfino Prado y Obed Rangel ayudantes de cambios de plataforma.

Bienvenida al director de la SNU involucrado en la misión global Dr. Loren Greshan y al Dr. Terry Toler
el que está enfrente de las relaciones entre la universidad y la iglesia el cual presento su reporte de la

Universidad a la Asamblea. El Hno. Greshan fue reconocido por el Reverendo Caleb Herrera
Superintendente de Distrito por su reconocimiento por 25 años sirviendo como presidente a esta
institución. .

Reporte del superintendente del distrito Caleb Herrera al cual se hizo moción y aprobado
Se hizo una Colecta de ofrenda de amor para el Hno. Caleb Herrera al cual todos los asistentes
respondieron con entusiasmo.
El reporte de la junta ministerial presentado por el Reverendo Rogelio López fue aprobado
Dulce Villanueva presento la nómina de votaciones para los miembros de la Junta Consultora por un
año, los miembros de la junta de credenciales, estudios ministeriales hasta el año 2018, La junta
consultora como la junta de Propiedades, la junta de evangelismo, el comité de finanzas, la corte de
apelaciones de distrito y el representante de SNU. Hubo una corrección de que la Hna. Rodríguez era
de Plainview y no de Lubbock la corrección fue aceptada. Se procedió a votar y los escrutadores
salieron a contar los votos mientras seguían los negocios de Asamblea.
Informe de la junta consultora expuesta por Rogelio López fue aprobado
Presentación de la SNU expuesta por el presidente Loren Greshan.
Presento su reporte en PowerPoint que mostro el servicio de los estudiantes en diferentes áreas y
misiones en el país y países extranjeros.
Eventos próximos en SNU para pastores del distrito “conferencias gratis en Bethany OK.”
Informe de credenciales expuesta por Rev. Rogelio López en la cual hubo la corrección del nombre de
Xavier que se repitió como Javier y se añadió el nombre de Betzabe Cintrón a que añadiera para
ministro licenciado hubo moción y fue aprobado
El Superintendente General anuncio las Conferencias para el año 2015 que se realizaran en Kansas
City.
El superintendente General presento las 7 ratificaciones del manual Una sin número y las demás
correspondientes a los párrafos 18, 27.1, 27.2, 30, y 32a las cuales dijo que no habría debate si no solo
aprobar o desaprobar.
Todas las ratificaciones fueron aprobadas
El dictamen de comité de evangelismo expuesto por Rev. Raúl Alfonso fue aprobado
El Reporte de tesorería expuesta por Jessica Orosco el cual fue aprobado
Reportes de pastores.

La mayoría de las iglesias fueron representadas por sus pastores y delegados y presentaron su reporte
excepto algunos pastores que no pudieron asistir. Hubo un espíritu de compañerismo muy especial y
todo salió muy bien.
Resultado de la nómina es como sigue:
Para Junta Consultora por un año, Presbíteros Rogelio López, Jose I. Palacios y Raúl Alfonzo.
Los Laicos electos fueron Fructuoso García, Adam Villanueva, Orlando Jiménez.
Para Junta de Estudios Ministeriales y Junta de Credenciales electos hasta el 2018: Presbíteros Gildardo
Acosta, Jose Ayala, Joe Dimas, Carlos Valle, Roberto Sánchez, Raúl Alfonzo, Jose Cárdenas, Ángel
Espinoza, Rogelio López, Evelio Montesina, Ubaldo Salazar.
La junta consultora fue aprobada para servir como Junta de Propiedades.
Los Electos para Junta de Evangelismo: Presbíteros, Joe Dimas, Jose I. Palacios, Ángel Espinoza. Y los
laicos Fructuoso García, Amado Sosa, y Adam Villanueva.
Los electos para el comité de finanzas hasta el año 2018 son: Presbíteros Jose I. Palacios, Jose Ayala,
Raúl Alfonzo, Roberto Sánchez y los laicos Adam Villarreal, Felipe Orosco, Orlando Jiménez, Mary
Garza.
El comité de apelaciones hasta el 2018 estará compuesto por los Presbíteros Rogelio López, Joe Dimas,
Jose I. Palacios y los laicos Guadalupe Guajardo y Ricardo Palacios.
Como representante a SNU es el laico Siloe López
.
Se presentaron Regalos de ofrenda de amor entregados para el secretario de distrito y su esposa para
Jessica Orosco tesorera de Distrito para el superintendente de distrito Caleb Herrera y para el
superintendente general.
De Parte del Distrito y el superintendente de distrito hubo Regalo para los pastores.
Se entregó la licencia para ministros licenciados de distritos.
Cierre de asamblea fue aprobada la cual terminaría después del servicio de ordenación de los pastores
Arnulfo Villarreal, Manuel Velásquez, Tabita García, Hno. Guadalupe Moreno, y Hno. Jose Luis Gómez.
Como asunto extraordinario se propuso y fue aceptado el cambio del nombre de la Iglesia del
Nazareno de Odessa al nombre de Iglesia del Nazareno Casa de Esperanza.

Estimado Superintendente en Jurisdicción, Dr. Eugenio Duarte
Apreciados Pastores y delegados
Amigos y visitantes especiales,
Bienvenidos a la sexagésima octava Asamblea del Distrito Latino Texas Oklahoma.
Yo no sé cómo se vería mi rostro el 17 de Abril del 2013; pero varias personas me dijeron que
mi rostro parecía estar en ‘shock’ al ser nombrado Superintendente de Distrito. Lo que no
sabían es que no era ‘shock,’ era una asombro inexplicable de cómo Dios habla.
Nueve años atrás, sabiendo como miembro de la Junta Consultora que el Dr. Joe Dimas
renunciaba, yo oré y por si acaso, ‘saque el vellón’ y le dije a Dios: “Si tu quisieras que yo
fuera superintendente de este distrito, házmelo saber teniendo ‘la mitad de los votos’ para la
segunda votación.” Al no tener la mitad de votos para la segunda votación, fiel al trato con el
Señor, retiré mi nombre; y la vida siguió normal.
El año pasado, de nuevo formando parte de la Junta Consultora y sabiendo que el Rev. José I.
Palacios renunciaba; le dije a Dios: “En esta ocasión no hay vellón, haz lo que quieras; pero
recuerda: mi esposa no quiere, mis hijos no quieren; y tal vez mi iglesia no quiera.”
El año pasado, en la nómina, antes de la primera votación, tenía exactamente la mitad de los
votos, y el Señor se acercó allí en la banca y me dijo, “Recuerdas en lo qué quedamos hace
nueve años?” Y comencé a temblar, tuve temor; y habiendo hecho trato con el Señor hacía
nueve años, acepté el llamado.
Hubo paz en mi corazón y seguridad de que todo estaba bien cuando al llegar a Lubbock
a la Convención de Zona, mi primer día en este puesto, se acercó el Hno. Andrade y me dijo:
“Sabía usted que tenemos nuevo líder en el distrito? No sé quién es, pero porque no oramos y le

pedimos a Dios que lo traiga con bien.” Acepté la oración después de decirle que yo ya había
llegado con bien.
El resto del año ha sido mucho trabajo y también mucha bendición.
El 18 de Mayo viajé a Lubbock para nuestra Gira de Distrito, y aproveché para organizar la
zona. Solo dos días después, el 20 de Mayo, Moore, Oklahoma, fue devastado por un tornado
masivo. Movilizamos las iglesias y una semana después llegamos con víveres donados por
muchos de ustedes. Al ver el destrozo en ese lugar, nació la visión de organizar el primer
equipo de distrito de Trabajo y Testimonio en muchos años.
MAYO
Principié con mis responsabilidades el 18 de mayo del 2013, dirigiendo la Convención de Zona
en West Texas, en la iglesia de Lubbock. Después de la convención me reuní con los pastores
y líderes de Zona para organizarla. En este mes también hice la aprobación del llamamiento que
la Iglesia de Las Palmas le hizo al M. Lic. Dulce Villanueva, como pastor de niños.
Me reuní con el concilio de MEDD para planear el campamento de niños, y con el concilio de
MNI para organizar el viaje de Trabajo y Testimonio a Oklahoma City.
JUNIO
Tuve el privilegio de visitar la iglesia de Laredo, y luego salir el día del padre rumbo a
Indianápolis para servir como Intérprete de las Convenciones Generales, y servir como
delegado a la Asamblea General. En ella hubo varios cambios al Manual que necesitan
ratificación, en esta Asamblea estaremos votando por esos cambios; pero un punto importante y
sobresaliente fue la votación por dos nuevos Superintendentes Generales, Dr. David Busic, y
Dr. Gustavo Crocker.
JULIO
Formamos un equipo de Trabajo y Testimonio para ayudar con el trabajo de Moore, y El Reno,
Oklahoma. Un grupo de 27 hermanos de las Iglesias San Antonio Primera, San Antonio La
Cruz, y San Antonio Las Palmas llegamos y nos hospedamos en las instalaciones de la Iglesia
Oklahoma City Primera. Estamos sumamente agradecidos con esta iglesia por el cariño con el
que nos alimentaron y vieron por nosotros. En esos días hicimos trabajo en El Reno, salimos a
repartir invitaciones y dirigimos una Escuela Bíblica Vacacional. Gloria a Dios por lo que
pudimos hacer.
Mientras nuestra gente se quedaba en Oklahoma City, su servidor y mi esposa salimos a visitar
al Pastor Guadalupe Moreno en Plainview, que desde entonces ha sido declarado libre de
cáncer, a Dios sea toda la Gloria.

De allí salimos Corpus Christi, visitamos al Rev. Margarito Garza y a su esposa. De allí fuimos
a Kingsville y visitamos al Pastor Arnulfo Villarreal y a su esposa. Y luego llegamos al Valle
donde me reuní con todos los pastores, tuve una reunión con la Junta de la Iglesia de
Brownsville, y prediqué en las iglesias de Mercedes y de Harlingen.
Tuve una reunión con el Rev. José I. Palacios para principiar a planear la posibilidad de INEM
en El Valle, que ahora es una realidad. Gracias Rev. José Palacios.
Asistí a la Convención de Zona de San Antonio en Houston, y luego visité en el Hospital al
Rev. José Cárdenas en Fort Worth y terminé el mes yendo al Campamento de Jóvenes donde
me reuní con la Junta Consultora.
AGOSTO
Agosto principió con el Campamento de Niños. Este evento fue una bendición especial puesto
que no se esperaba tener. Aunque solo pocas iglesias participaron, tuvimos más de 50 niños y
adultos.
En seguida tuvimos nuestra reunión del Instituto Bíblico INEM para la planificación del
semestre de primavera de este año.
Participé en la Gira Misionera con el Dr. Roberto Hugdson, y luego viajé a Oletha Kansas para
reunirme con los líderes hispanos de la Región USA/CANADA, donde participé en el
aprendizaje de DCPI, Dynamic church Planting International, que vendrá a ser el método que
estaremos usando en el distrito para principiar nuevas obras.
Terminamos este mes asistiendo al Retiro de Jóvenes en Fort Worth, donde tuvimos
competencias de Esgrima bíblico tanto de jóvenes como de niños.
SEPTIEMBRE
Estuve en Lubbock para celebrar la Gira Misionera con la Hna. Mary Johnson.
Luego viajé a Lenexa, Kansas para estar en la Orientación para Nuevos Superintendentes de
Distrito. Doy gracias a Dios por este evento, pues en él aprendí mucho de lo que debo estar
haciendo en esta posición y en este ministerio.
Este mes fue muy especial pues en esos días tuvimos nuestro Retiro de Pastores en River Inn
Resort en Hunt, Texas. Esta fue mi primera oportunidad de convivir con los Pastores y sus
esposas en un círculo íntimo. Agradezco a mi esposa y mi hija Denia Burkhard por su ayuda en
la cocina. El lema fue: “Avivando el Fuego,” y estoy seguro que este fue uno de los momentos
sobresalientes en mi primer año.

Asistí al Retiro de Parejas en Tichomingo, Oklahoma; y en Kema, Texas. Más de 60 parejas
asistieron entre los dos Retiros, que bendición. Hacía tiempo no veía el nivel de optimismo y
algarabía que gocé en estos retiros.
En este mes tuvimos una “Noche de Celebración,” en San Antonio, Texas, en honor al Rev.
José I. Palacios y agradecerle por nueve años de Servicio como Superintendente de Distrito. En
honor al Dr. José Rodríguez, y festejar sus 65 años de Ministerio y 60 aniversario de
matrimonio con Lidia Rodríguez. Y en honor del Hno. Ofelio Sosa por siete años de Servicio
como Tesorero de Distrito. En este mes me reuní con la junta de la Iglesia Central y visité la
Iglesia de Emanuel donde tuve el privilegio de predicar.
NOVIEMBRE
En Noviembre asistí a la reunión de la Junta de Regentes de SNU. El momento sobresaliente
fue la noticia de que el Dr. Loren Greshan, nuestro presidente, había sido incorporado al Salón
de la Fama de Educadores Universitarios del Estado de Oklahoma.
Tuve el privilegio de predicar en la Cruzada de Santidad en la zona del Valle y lo hice en las
iglesias de Donna, Mission, Harlingen, Brownsville, y San Benito. En el servicio de clausura
Los Pastores del Valle me concedieron el privilegio de presentar a los Hermanos Rev. Rafael
Rosa, Rev. Teodosio Flores, y Rev. Carlos Valle, reconocimientos por largos años de servicio
al Distrito. En este mes me reuní con la junta de la Iglesia Central.
DICIEMBRE
En el mes de Diciembre dedicamos el nuevo edificio de Ministerios de Niños de la Iglesia de
Las Palmas. Tuve entrevistas para Comité de Credenciales con la hna. Betzabe Cintrón y Dulce
Villanueva. También pude reunirme con los Pastores en las Cenas Navideñas en las zonas del
Valle, San Antonio, y West Texas. La nieve y el hielo nos impidieron llegar a Oklahoma City.
Durante el viaje a la zona de West Texas prediqué en la iglesia de Plainview y luego visité la
iglesia de Houston.
En la noche del fin de año visite las iglesias de Emanuel y SA Primera, antes de terminar en Las
palmas.
ENERO 2014
En el mes de Enero tuve el privilegio de predicar en la Iglesia de Sur Flores, de asistir al Retiro
de Líderes de la JNI en Brownwood, Texas, y de allí, fui a Lamesa, Texas, a ver la propiedad
que tenemos en ese lugar. En este mes me reuní con la junta de la Iglesia de Laredo.

En este mes también tuve reuniones de organización con los departamentos de distrito, JNI,
MNI, MIEDD, Juntas Consultora, de Credenciales, Estudios Ministeriales, de Finanzas, y
Comités Nominativos de Distrito.
FEBRERO
Terminé el mes de Enero y principié el mes de Febrero en Brownwood, y de allí regresamos mi
esposa y yo para prepararnos para ir al Retiro de Superintendentes. En el intermedio fui junto
con los hermanos Rev. José I. Palacios y Rev. José Ayala a entrevistar al Pastor Arnulfo
Villarreal en Kingsville, Texas, y luego al siguiente día salimos al Retiro de Superintendentes
de Distrito a la sombra de las Montañas Catalina en Tucson, Arizona. En este lugar Dios nos
visitó con mensajes del Dr. Gustavo Crocker, “Cual Jesús traes contigo;” “El Primer Amor,”
con el Dr. David Busic; “Corriendo la Carrera,” con el Dr. David Graves; “Admirable
Consejero,” con el Dr. Eugénio Duarte, y “Que vean a Cristo en Ti” con el Dr. J. K. Warrick.
En este retiro el Dr. Jerry Porter me dio el privilegio de hacer la oración del domingo en la
mañana.
Tuve reuniones con la zona de San Antonio, y luego viajé con un grupo de 11 miembros de mi
iglesia a hacer trabajo y testimonio en la iglesia de Kingsville.
Terminé este mes, y el año eclesiástico principiando las juntas anuales y reuniéndome con seis
juntas locales una hora antes de la junta con toda la iglesia.
OTRAS NOTICIAS
Fue con tristeza que se nos avisó en Abril, 2013, que la Iglesia de Abernathy estaba siendo
desorganizada oficialmente. Lamentamos la pérdida de la obra en este lugar.
Después de meses de mucho trabajo logramos que nos dieran la excepción de impuestos del
condado de Tarrant para la iglesia de Fort Worth.
Tres parejas de fieles siervos celebraron “Milestones” es sus vidas. Los Hermanos Ted &
Francés Flores celebraron su 50 aniversario. Los hermanos Rafael & Manuela Rosa celebraron
su 55 Aniversario, y los hermanos Dr. José y Lidia Rodríguez celebraron su 60 aniversario.
CAJAS DE ALABASTRO
Estamos endeudados con el Dr. Robert Broadbooks, y la iglesia general por su generosidad en
dar al distrito $60,000 de Ofrendas de Cajas de Alabastro para ayudarnos en la reconstrucción
de varias propiedades del distrito.
Con parte de este dinero se ha principiado el poner nuevo alambrado de electricidad a la casa
del Distrito. Se mandaron $3,000 a la iglesia de Brownsville para poner techo nuevo a la casa
pastoral. Se compró una casa y lote de esquina en Harlingen por $9,721 para el principio de una
obra nueva. Se mandaron $3,000 a la iglesia de Odessa para comprar materiales de la

reparación de la casa pastoral. Se mandaron $2,000 a la iglesia de Plainview para ayudar en la
reparación de las líneas de gas del templo y de la casa pastoral. Y se mandaron $7,400 a la
iglesia de Fort Worth, para ayudarles con la reparación del techo del templo y de la casa
pastoral.
Gracias a Dios hemos podido hacer de estos dólares que parezcan de hule para que se estiren y
vayan más lejos.

A la Primera Iglesia de San Antonio, por su camioneta van nueva y por la cerca nueva alrededor
de su propiedad.
A la Iglesia de Las Palmas por completar su Edificio de Ministerios de Niños.
A todas las iglesias que han hecho reparaciones a sus edificios.
A Robbie Díaz de SA Primera quien irá representando a SNU y a nuestro distrito al país de
Brasil
A Stephen Mendoza, que va a ir a China a una conferencia de Ciencia y Medicina.

CAMBIOS PASTORALES
Estemos en oración por el distrito pues vienen cambios pastorales que cambiarán el panorama
nuestro.
El Rev. Margarito Garza ha renunciado a su pastorado en Corpus Christi. Oremos por la familia
Garza, y por esta iglesia que ha de hacer decisión en cuanto a su futuro.
El Rev. Ubaldo Salazar ha renunciado a su pastorado en Laredo. Oremos por la familia Salazar
al emprender un nuevo horizonte; y por la Iglesia de Laredo en la búsqueda de su nuevo pastor.
Oremos por la familia del Pastor Arnulfo Villarreal y por la iglesia de Kingsville, pues hay
necesidad de que el Hno. Villarreal reciba ayuda pronto.
Oremos por la Iglesia SA Central, porque Dios les mande un pastor pronto, que venga a llevar a
esta iglesia a nuevos remansos.
Oremos por el Rev. Víctor Trujillo, que por causa de su salud ha pedido un sabático, dejando a
su iglesia por un año.
JUVENTUD NAZARENA INTERNACIONAL
Felicitamos a Vania Palacios y a su concilio por un buen año en el trabajo entre la juventud. Su
campamento y su Retiro de Lideres fueron de éxito, y hemos visto un aumento de participantes
en los Retiros en Fort Worth y en otras actividades distritales. Su convención fue de bendición.
Muchas gracias Vania.
Felicitamos a Juanita Díaz y a su concilio por un año excelente en la MNI. Aparte de todos los
énfasis y las ofrendas que se levantan mes tras mes, este departamento logró llevarnos a
Oklahoma city en el primer equipo de Trabajo y Testimonio en mucho tiempo. Gracias a todas

SUPERINTENDENTE TIEMPO COMPLETO
El “comité pro-superintendente de tiempo completo” terminó su trabajo y en esta mañana usted
va a escuchar su informe. Los insto a que no solamente le pongan atención a si podemos dar un
sueldo o no; sino que le pongamos atención a si tenemos los recursos para tener un ministerio
de éxito.
RETO
En las juntas anuales los reté a soñar. Los rete a tener fe, y al igual que los hombres y mujeres
de Fe del capítulo 11 de Hebreos, nosotros también podemos hacer grandes cosas para Dios.
Les dije que Dios todavía está en el negocio de hacer milagros.
Viajando por el distrito entendí verdaderamente por primera vez lo que quiso decir el Señor
Jesucristo que “a la verdad la mies mucha y los obreros pocos.”
De acuerdo al departamento de Experimentación y Herramientas (Research and Tools) de la
Iglesia del Nazareno, una comunidad de 8,000 personas puede sostener una iglesia.
Pasando por muchas ciudades con miles y miles donde no tenemos una iglesia, o por las
grandes metrópolis donde solo tenemos una iglesia, mi corazón se sintió abrumado y con un
sentido de imposibilidad. Vi la necesidad de tener miles de iglesias hispanas… pero de donde
vamos a sacar miles de pastores hispanos? El Señor Jesús dijo: “pedir al Señor de la mies, que
envíe obreros a su mies.” Ayúdenme a orar que El Señor envíe obreros a su mies.
El Dr. Robert Broadbooks dijo: “If each of our districts organized one church this year and
two of the districts organized two each, we would reach the highest number of church
organizations in almost 50 years.”

endeudado contigo, te amo. Muchas gracias por haberme ayudado a empezar el “Facebook” del

APRIL 2014
Dear Superintendent in Jurisdiction, Dr. Eugenio Duarte
Beloved pastors and delegates
Friends and special visitors,
Welcome to the 68th District Assembly of the Texas Oklahoma Latin District.
I’m not sure what my expression was like on April 17, 2013, but several people said that I
appeared to be in a state of shock when I was elected as the District Superintendent. What many
of you don’t know is that I was not in a state of shock; it was an inexplicable awe of how God
speaks.
Nine years ago, as a member of the Advisory Board and knowing Dr. Joe Dimas was
resigning, I prayed, and just in case I “put out the fleece” and I told God, “If you want me to be
superintendent of this district, let me know by giving me ‘half of the votes’ by the second round
of voting.” As the second round of voting came along, not having half of the votes, I was
faithful to my deal with God and removed my name from the ballot; my life resumed as normal.
Last year, again being part of the Advisory Board and knowing Rev. José I. Palacios was
resigning, I told God, “On this occasion there is no fleece, do what you want; but remember:

my wife does not want this, my children do not want this, and my church possibly does not
want this either.”
Last year, during the nominations, even before the first round of voting, I had exactly half of
the votes, and the Lord came to me to my bench and said, “Remember the deal we made nine
years ago?” I began to tremble and was in fear. Having made a deal with the Lord nine years
ago, I accepted His calling.
There was peace in my heart and a reassurance that everything was okay as I arrived to
Lubbock for the Zone Convention on my first day in this position and Brother Andrade
approached me saying, “Did you know we have a new district leader? I have no idea who it is,
but why don’t we pray and ask God to bring him here safely.” I accepted to pray with him, after
telling him that I had arrived safely already.
The remainder of the year has been a lot of work, but also full of blessings.
On the 18th of May I traveled to Lubbock for our District Tour, and I took advantage of that
time to help organize the zone. Only two days later, on May 20th, Moore, Oklahoma was
devastated by a massive tornado that hit. We mobilized the churches and a week after we
arrived with first aid supplies donated by many of you. Seeing the destruction in that place, a
vision arose to organize the first Work and Witness Team the district has had in many years.
MAY
I began my responsibilities on the 18th of May of 2013, by directing the Zone Convention in
West Texas at the church in Lubbock. After the convention, I met with the pastors and leaders
of the zone to help in organizing it. In this month, I also approved Las Palmas Church’s request
to make M. Lic. Dulce Villanueva their Children’s Pastor. I met with the MEDD Council to
plan children’s camp and with the MNI Council to plan and organize the Work and Witness trip
to Oklahoma City.
JUNE
I had the privilege of visiting the church in Laredo and on Father’s Day depart towards
Indianapolis to serve as an interpreter of the General Conventions and also serve as a delegate
for the General Assembly. In these meetings there were some changes in the Manual that need
ratification, those of which we will be voting on during this Assembly. An important highlight
was the voting for two new General Superintendents: Dr. David Busic and Dr. Gustavo
Crocker.
JULY
We formed a Work and Witness Team to help with the work of Moore and El Reno, Oklahoma.
A group of 27 people from the churches: San Antonio Primera, San Antonio La Cruz, and San

Antonio Las Palmas arrived and were hosted by the church of Oklahoma City Primer. We are
extremely grateful to this church for the kindness with which they fed and looked after us. In
those days was did work in El Reno and we handed out invitations for a Vacation Bible School
we led. We praise God for what we were able to do.
While our people stayed in Oklahoma City, my wife and I left to visit Pastor Guadalupe
Moreno in Plainview, who since then has been declared cancer free, glory be to God.
From there, we travelled to Corpus Christi to visit Rev. Margarito Garza and his wife. After, we
went to Kingsville to visit Pastor Arnulfo Villarreal and his wife. We then arrived in The
Valley, where I met with all of the pastors, I had a meeting with the Church Board in
Brownsville, and I preached in the churches of Mercedes and Harlingen.
I met with Rev. José I. Palacios to begin planning the possibility of INEM in The Valley, which
has now become a reality. Thank you Rev. José Palacios.
I attended the San Antonio Zone Convention in that took place in Houston, and from there I
went to visit Rev. José Cárdenas in the hospital at Fort Worth. I finished the month by going to
Youth Camp, where I was able to meet with the Advisory Board.
AUGUST
August began with Children’s Camp. This even was a special blessing, being that it was not
expected to take place. Although only a few churches participated, we had over 50 children and
adults. After that, we had our INEM Biblical Institute meeting to plan the 2014 Spring
Semester, taking place already.
I participated in the Missionary District Tour with Dr. Roberto Hughson, and then I travelled to
Oletha, Kansas to meet with the Hispanic leaders of the USA/CANADA Region. There, I was
trained in DCPI, Dynamic Church Planting International, which will be the method we will be
using in the district to begin new churches.
We finished this month by attending the Youth Retreat in Fort Worth, where we had several
Bible Quizzing competitions for both the youth and children.
SEPTEMBER
I attended the Missionary Tour in Lubbock to where the special speaker was Mary Johnson.
Then I traveled to Lenexa, Kansas to be in the New District Superintendent Orientation. I thank
God for this event since I learned a lot about what I should be doing in this position and in this
ministry.
This month was very special, in that this is when we had our Pastor’s Retreat at River Inn
Resort in Hunt, Texas. This was my first opportunity to have fellowship with the Pastors and
their wives in a more intimate setting. I would like to thank my wife and my daughter, Denia

Burkhard, for their help cooking. The theme was “Reigniting the Fire,” and I’m sure that this
was one of the highlights of my first year.
OCTOBER
I attended the Couple’s Retreat in Tishomingo, Oklahoma and in Kema, Texas. More than 60
couples attended between both retreats, what a blessing. It had been a while since I had seen
this level of optimism and enthusiasm that I’ve enjoyed in these retreats.
In this month we had “A Night of Celebration,” in San Antonio, Texas to honor Rev. José I.
Palacios for his nine years of service as District Superintendent. We also honored Dr. José
Rodríguez to celebrate his 65 years of ministry and 60th wedding anniversary to Lidia
Rodriguez.
Finally, we honored Brother Ofelio Sosa for seven years of service as District Treasurer. In this
month I met with SA Central’s Church Board, and I went to visit the church of Emmanuel
where I was given the privilege to preach.
NOVEMBER
In November I attended the fall meetings of the SNU Board of Regents. It was an outstanding
moment when we were informed that Dr. Loren Gresham, our president, had been inducted into
the Oklahoma Higher Education Heritage Hall of Fame.
I had the privilege of preaching in the Holiness Crusade in the Valley Zone, preaching in the
churches of Donna, Mission, Harlingen, Brownsville, and San Benito. In the closing service,
the pastors allowed me the honor of recognizing Rev. Rafael Rosa, Rev. Teodosio Flores, y
Rev. Carlos Valle for their long years of service in our district. In this month I met with SA
Central’s Church Board.
DECEMBER
In the month of December, I dedicated the new building of the Children’s Ministry at the
Church of Las Palmas. I met with the Board of Credentials to interview Betzabe Cintron and
Dulce Villanueva. I was also able to meet with the pastors during the Christmas Dinners in the
Valley, San Antonio, and West Texas Zones. Unfortunately, the snow and ice hindered our
arrival to Oklahoma City.
During my trip to the West Texas Zone, I was able to preach in the church of Plainview and
from there went on to visit the Church in Houston.
On New Year’s Eve, I visited the churches of Emmanuel and SA Primera, before finishing the
year at Las Palmas.

In the month of January, I had the privilege of preaching in the Church of Sur Flores, attending
the NYI Leadership Retreat in Brownwood, Texas, and visiting Lamesa, Texas to see the
property we own there. I was also able to meet with the Laredo Church Board. This month I
held organizational meetings with the following departments of the district: NYI, MNI, SDMI,
Advisory Board, Board of Credentials, Ministerial Studies, Finance, and District Nominating
Committees.
FEBRUARY
I finished the month of January and began the month of February in Brownwood and from there
my wife and I returned to prepare for the Superintendent Retreat. In between the two trips I
went, along with Rev. José I. Palacios and Rev. José Ayala, to interview Pastor Arnulfo
Villarreal in Kingsville, Texas. The following day we left to the District Superintendent Retreat
in the shade of the Catalina Mountains at Tucson, Arizona. God visited us here through the
message of Dr. Gustavo Crocker, “What Jesus do you carry with you?” “First Love” by Dr.
David Busic, “Running the Race” by Dr. David Graves, “Admirable Counselor” with Dr.
Eugénio Duarte, and “That they may see Christ in me” by Dr. J. K. Warrick. In this retreat, Dr.
Jerry Porter gave me the privilege doing the Sunday morning prayer.
I had meetings with the San Antonio Zone, and then I traveled with a group of 11 members of
my church to do a Work and Witness trip with the church in Kingsville.
I finished the month, and the ecclesiastic year, beginning the annual meetings and meeting with
six local church boards prior to the meeting with the entire church took place.
OTHER NEWS
It is with great sadness that we were informed in April 2013 that the church of Abernathy was
officially being disorganized. It is very unfortunate that we have lost this church.
After months of a lot of work, we were able to obtain the tax exemption of Tarrant County for
the church in Fort Worth.
Three couples of faithful servants celebrated “Milestones” in their lives. Ted & Frances Flores
celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, Rafael & Manuela Rosa celebrated their 55th
wedding anniversary, and Dr. José y Lidia Rodríguez celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
ALABASTER OFFERING
We will forever be indebted to Dr. Robert Broadbooks and the General Church for their
generosity in giving our district $60,000 from the Alabaster Offerings to help in rebuilding
various properties in our district.
With part of this money we have begun replacing the electrical wiring in the district house. We
sent $3,000 to the church in Brownsville so they could put a new roof in the parsonage. A

house and corner lot in Harlingen were bought for $9,721 to begin a new work. Also, $3,000
was sent to the church in Odessa to buy materials for the repairs in the parsonage. We sent
$2,000 to the church in Plainview to help in replacing the gas lines for the church and
parsonage. Lastly, $7,400 was sent to the church in Fort Worth to help them with repairing the
roof of the church and the parsonage.
I thank God that we have been able to make these dollars like rubber bands, so that they may
stretch and reach even further.

PASTORAL CHANGES
Let us continue praying for our district since pastoral changes will occur that will change the
landscape of our district.
Rev. Margarito Garza has resigned as pastor in Corpus Christi. Pray for the Garza family and
for the church as they begin making decisions about their future.
Rev. Ubaldo Salazar has resigned as pastor in Laredo. Pray for the Salazar family as they
undertake and new horizon, and for the Church of Laredo as they search for their new pastor.
Pray for Pastor Arnulfo Villarreal’s family and for the church in Kingsville, as there is a need
for Brother Villarreal to receive help soon.
Pray for the Church of SA Central, that God may send them a pastor soon who will help them
reach new heights.
Pray for Rev. Victor Trujillo, who due to his health has asked for a sabbatical, leaving his
church for a year.
NAZARENE YOUTH INTERNATIONAL
We congratulate Vania Palacios and her council for a great year with the work amongst the
youth. Her camp and Leaders Retreat were a success and we have seen an increase in
participation during the Fort Worth Retreat and other District activities. Her convention was
full of blessings. Thank you Vania.
NAZARENE MISSIONS INTERNATIONAL
We congratulate Juanita Diaz and her council for an excellent year in MNI. In addition to all of
the monthly emphasis and offerings that are collected, this department was able to take us to
Oklahoma City on our first Work and Witness Trip in a long time. Thank you to all of the
people who made it possible both with your participation as well as with your offerings. Thank

We congratulate Liz Maldonado, and all of her council, for making Children’s Camp possible,

OUR INEM BIBLE SCHOOL
We congratulate our personnel, Director Rev. Evelio Monestina, Academic Dean Rev. Ubaldo
Salazar, and members of the staff, Dr. José Rodríguez and Rev. Joe Dimas for guiding our bible
school in the right direction. We are also excited for our educational branch in The Valley, led
by Rev. José I. Palacios. Thank you professors and students. May God bless us with new
pastors coming out of this institution.
FULL TIME SUPERINTENDENT
The “Pro-Full Time Superintendent Committee” finished their work and this morning you will
hear their report. I urge you to not only pay attention to whether we can or cannot give a salary,
but to place your attention on whether we have the necessary resources to have a ministry of
success.
CHALLENGE
In the annual meetings, I challenged you to dream. I challenged you to have faith, and in the
same way as the men and women of Faith of Hebrews 11, we can also do great things for God.
I told you that God is still in the business of doing miracles.
Travelling around the district I truly understood for the first time what our Lord Jesus Christ
meant by “the harvest is a lot and the workers are few.”
According to the Department of Research and Tools of the Church of the Nazarene, a
community of 8,000 people can support a church. Passing through many cities with miles and
miles where we don’t have a church, or through the big metropolis where we only have one
church, my heart felt overwhelmed with a feeling of an unattainable task. I saw the need to have
thousands of Hispanic churches... but where are we going to get thousands of Hispanic pastors
from? The Lord said, “ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” Help
me pray that The Lord send laborers into his harvest.
El Dr. Robert Broadbooks dijo: “If each of our districts organized one church this year and
two of the districts organized two each, we would reach the highest number of church
organizations in almost 50 years.”


music, congratulations on her marriage to Robert. To my children Ruskin and Marie, for giving
me the cutest grandson of the entire Nazarene world, Talin Caleb Herrera, the third generation
of Calebs Herrera. Who would have thought that from the cactus in San Juan an Englishman
would be born?
And of course, to the most beautiful woman in the universe, who accepted to marry me because
she was sure she would never be a pastor’s wife, what a great sense of humor God has. Thank

La Junta consultora de distrito tiene como responsabilidad el velar todos asuntos e intereses del
distrito relacionados a la superintendencia y su personal, las iglesias locales, misiones, los pastores de
las iglesias locales y cualquier otro negocio que este bajo la jurisdicción de este distrito. Para lograr
este cometido, esta junta tuvo sus reuniones debidamente convocadas por su presidente. Se aseguró
que las dos terceras partes de sus miembros estuvieran presentes y que todo asunto fuera aprobado
por este quorum. Las reuniones fueron en localidades específicas y también hubo bastante
comunicación y acuerdos vía internet. Hubo 5 juntas; una extraordinaria convocada por el
superintendente general, el Dr. Stan Toler y las demás ordinarias fueron convocadas por el nuevo
superintendente, Rev. Caleb Herrera.
Junta extraordinaria en la Iglesia del Nazareno las Palmas, Abril 16 del 2013. La razón para esta junta
fue para recibir la renuncia del superintendente saliente, el Rev. Jose Palacios, y llegar a un acuerdo en
cómo nombrar el nuevo líder distrital. En esa junta también estuvieron presentes los presidentes
distritales de MNI, MEDD y JNI. Todos los miembros presentes votaron que la elección del nuevo
superintendente fuera hecha por la asamblea.
La primer junta ordinaria con el nuevo superintendente, Rev. Caleb Herrera fue en la Iglesia del
Nazareno de Corpus Christi en Abril 27 del 2013.
Primeramente se discutió el sueldo, seguro médico y teléfono del superintendente. También la
designación del secretario de la junta y la renuncia del tesorero de distrito Hno. Ofelio Sosa. Se
trataron también los asuntos de ayuda financiera a la iglesia de Kingsville, las Palmas, la situación
pastoral de Lubbock, reembolso al Rev. Jose Palacios y una ofrenda de amor por su servicio como
superintendente.
La segunda junta ordinaria se convocó en el Campamento Sephyr, el 31 de Julio del 2013.
Primeramente se habló de obtener una nueva tarjeta Debito para el superintendente, se estableció la
cantidad de su sueldo y como se manejaría, se buscaría otro vehículo para el distrito. Nuestro líder
distrital también atendería la situación de la casa pastoral de Brownsville. El anuncio que reviso la casa
distrital y que está en muy malas condiciones y se acordó que se reparara poco a poco hasta terminar.
Nuestro líder también reporto sus visitas a unas iglesias del distrito. Después se trataron los siguientes
asuntos: La hermana Jessica Orozco acepto la tesorería de distrito y el hermano Ofelio Sosa estaría

viajando a Laredo TX. Para el traspaso de la tesorería. Se escribió una carta confirmando la posición de
la hermana Jessica Orozco. Se estableció una ofrenda de amor para el Hno. Ofelio Sosa y otra ofrenda
para la asamblea General. El Rev. Evelio Monestina sería el nuevo director de INEM y el Rev. Jose Ayala
iría a un entrenamiento para secretarios de distrito. Se habló de los requisitos para los ministros
licenciados y de posibles ordenaciones, de abrir una misión en San Ángelo Texas y que se continúe con
las misiones de trabajo y testimonio.
La tercera junta ordinaria se llevó a cabo en la Iglesia del Nazareno Las Palmas en San Antonio Texas el
26 de Octubre del 2013. Allí la junta acordó de que el superintendente consiguiera una nueva
computadora. Se trataron los siguientes asuntos: La situación del Lic. Jesse Méndez Jr., como pastor de
Lubbock, la renuncia del Rev. Abiel Hernández de la Central, tramitar el estado de la iglesia de Fort
Worth como corporación no lucrativa, un licenciado se encargaría de la casa pastoral de Brownsville y
de la celebración de la asamblea de distrito en diferentes zonas.
La cuarta junta ordinaria se realizó otra vez en la Iglesia del Nazareno las Palmas en San Antonio Texas
el 18 de Enero del 2014. Nuevos asuntos que se discutieron fueron la reparación de la propiedad de La
Mesa Texas, de un comité de retiros y campamentos, de reparaciones de casas pastorales y la
reparación de la instalación eléctrica de la casa distrital, la compra de una propiedad en Harlingen
Texas, planes de construcción de la iglesia en Mercedes Texas, la situación distrital en relación a la
región, la situación de la iglesia Central y el aumento de miembros para las juntas de Credenciales y
Estudios Ministeriales.
El presidente de esta junta, el Rev. Caleb Herrera y los miembros de la junta, les agradecen a todos los
miembros de esta asamblea por su confianza y oraciones en favor de nosotros. Gracias a Dios por el
poder de Dios que sostuvo a cada miembro de la junta en este año. Ha sido un privilegio servir en este

COMITÉ DE FINANZAS
FINANCE COMMITTEE
El comité de finanzas del Distrito Latino Texas Oklahoma [TOLD] recomienda:
1. Que las Iglesias envíen mensualmente o semanalmente al tesorero de distrito el 10% de los diezmos
y ofrendas regulares [Domingo AM, PM y servicios durante la semana] y el 10% de las ofrendas
regulares de los departamentos. El tesorero de distrito distribuirá este 10% en proporciones asignadas,
por la asamblea, a los diferentes departamentos de distrito de la siguiente manera:
a. 70% Para gastos y sostenimientos del Distrito
b. 5% Para el departamento del MNI de Distrito [Misionero]
c. 5% Para el departamento de NYI de Distrito [Jóvenes]
d. 5% Para el departamento de MED de distrito [Escuela Dominical]
e. 5% Para INEM [Instituto, Nazareno de Educación Ministerial]
f. 5% Para nuevas obras
g. 5% Para gastos de contingencias [emergencias] el cual será administrado a discreción de la Junta
Consultora.
2. Que se envié mensualmente o semanalmente el 10% de los diezmos y ofrendas de la iglesia local al
tesorero de la Iglesia General y a la Universidad Nazarena del Sur
[SNU] divididos en los siguientes porcentajes:
a. 5.5% FEM [Fondo de Evangelismo Mundial: Tesorero General]
b. 2.25% Pensiones y Beneficios [Tesorero General]
c. 2.25% Educacional [Universidad Nazarena del Sur]
Se recomienda que mande estos presupuestos por cheques separados para facilitar su manejo a la
tesorería general.
3. Que todas las iglesias del distrito posean una cuenta bancaria para depositar todos los ingresos que
tenga la iglesia y que los egresos se realicen utilizando algún sistema bancarizado.
4. Que los departamentos de distrito de MNI, MED y NYI y la administración central del distrito den a
conocer a las iglesias en cada zona, en la gira distrital, el presupuesto de gastos para el año eclesiástico
2014-2015.
5. Que el distrito someta su tesorería a una auditoria a una organización sin fines lucrativos para recibir
también orientación y ayuda en esta área.

[Delegados, pastores y presbíteros del distrito]
Abril 2, 2014
Se recomienda que cada iglesia se esfuerce en proveer salario digno a su pastor de acuerdo como lo
establece el Manual de la Iglesia del Nazareno y los siguientes principios bíblicos:
A. Que el salario es digno y meritorio así como lo es el ministerio (2ª Tes. 1:11-12, 1ª Tim.
5:18). Es decir, no es un regalo ni acto de bondad ni para cubrir necesidades, sino de mérito (2ª Cor.
9:7)
B. Que el salario es el fruto del trabajo, la preparación y la capacidad del ministro y así debe ser
compensado en proporción a su capacidad, experiencia, dedicación y eficiencia
(1ª Cor. 9:13-14; 1ª Tes. 5:12; 1ª Tim. 5:17; 2ª Tim. 2:6)
C. Que el ministro tiene una gran responsabilidad y debe cumplirla así como debe esperar retribución
por el cumplimiento eficaz y profesional de su trabajo (He. 13:7, 17).
I...Que cada iglesia para considerarse SOSTEN PROPIO y pastor de tiempo completo se esfuerce en
proveer un sostén pastoral de mínimo básico semanal según la siguiente tabla considerando su
preparación, experiencia y trabajo pastoral:
$ 350.00 de menos de 10 años
$ 375 de 11 a 20 años.
$ 400.00 de 21 a más años.
A. Que no pongan límites al aumento que la iglesia pueda otorgarle considerando el salario como
prioridad en los gasto a y de acuerdo a la posibilidades y fe de cada iglesia local. Que sea revisado y
actualizado cada 6 meses.
B. Que las iglesias con pastor de MEDIO TIEMPO consideren los mismos principios y ofrezcan su salario
en proporción de tiempo y efectividad del ministerio que el pastor ofrece y negocien la posibilidad de
ser pastor de TIEMPO COMPLETO.
C. Que el superintendente y la Junta Consultora motiven a las juntas locales y la congregación de cada
iglesia para mejorar el salario y beneficios del pastor.

II. Que la iglesia local sea responsable del mantenimiento de la casa pastoral y que sea inspeccionada
por los ecónomos de ser posible tres veces al año, presentando un reporte por escrito anual con copia
al Superintendente de Distrito.
A. Si el pastor vive en la casa alquilada o propia, la iglesia contribuya de alguna manera con los gastos
de la casa y de utilidades.
B. Si el pastor no tiene casa propia, inicie un fondo a este propósito o aumente la aportación a su
jubilación con un mínimo de $ 100.00 mensuales adicionales. La iglesia debe entender la importancia
de esta necesidad a quienes han entregado su vida entera al ministerio.
C. Que cada iglesia provea alguna forma de servicios médicos o seguro médico al pastor y su familia. Si
no está en posibilidades de hacerlo, explique al pastor y haga los mejores arreglos.
E. La iglesia puede negociar con el pastor un paquete total que el pastor distribuya según su
conveniencia.
F. Que cada iglesia cubra los gastos al pastor y su esposa para retiros, campamentos, convenciones y
otras actividades aprobadas en la asamblea de distrito y recomendada por la Iglesia General.
G. Que cada iglesia le de IMPORTANCIA y provea los recursos para la educación continua del pastor en
cursos que le ayuden a su ministerio.
H. Que cada iglesia local se esfuerce hasta donde sea posible en pagar el seguro social del pastor
utilizando la fórmula del IRS.
I. Que cada iglesia otorgue vacaciones pagadas a su pastor de acuerdo a la siguiente formula:
1. Los pastores que hayan servido tiempo completo o bi-vocacional en la Iglesia del
Nazareno (en cualquier parte del mundo) ininterrumpidamente desde su primera licencia distrital
como ministro:
a. De 1 a 5 años: Dos semanas de vacaciones
b. De 6 a14 años: Tres semanas de vacaciones
c. De 15 años arriba: Cuatro semanas de vacaciones.
2. Que la iglesia se ponga de acuerdo con el pastor cuando este no toma sus vacaciones
correspondientes.
3. Las vacaciones deben ser programadas y aprobadas por la junta local.
4. El tiempo tomado para Asamblea y Convenciones de Distrito, Retiros Pastorales,
Campamentos y Reuniones Distritales, NO pueden ser consideradas como vacaciones del pastor.

J. Que la Junta Consultora estudie y ofrezca información a las iglesias sobre el tiempo Sabático del
pastor.
K. Que la iglesia considere seriamente ayudar al pastor en las contribuciones personales para su retiro,
utilizando el sistema de la Iglesia del Nazareno de Pensiones y Beneficios.
L. El manual de la Iglesia del Nazareno ordena el sostén ministerial distrital en su párrafo
129.12; por tanto, se recomienda que cada iglesia local sea responsable de enviar mensualmente al
tesorero de distrito el presupuesto aprobado por la Asamblea.
M. Bajo estas perspectivas, todas las iglesias tienen el privilegio de extender llamamiento pastoral de
acuerdo a las posibilidades financieras de cada iglesia.

Siendo las 2:00 pm da inicio la convención mediante una oración por la Hna. Norma Álvarez,
después lectura bíblica el “Credo de los Apóstoles” por las Hnas. Raquel Arroyo e Yvonne
Chávez.
* Se da inicio a los negocios a las 2:25pm.
* Se pide como pajes a Orlando Jiménez y Reynaldo Ortiz, se recomendó como escrutadores
también a las siguientes personas, Simona Velázquez, Silvia Pérez, Isidro Orozco, Ubaldo
Salazar y Raúl Alfonso.
*Rachel Maldonado, SDMI TOLD Chair, empezó a leer su reporte como directora de SDMI.

aceptada por la delegación.
*Se pasan las cedulas de votación y se recomienda al Pastor Ubaldo Salazar como Presidente de
los
escrutadores, La Hna. Lidia Alfonso oro para comenzar con las votaciones y el
Superintendente el
Rev. Caleb Herrera lee la cedula, Como Director de SDMI/MEDD vote si o no por Rachel
Maldonado MEDD miembros adicionales: vote por dos el de mayor votos será elegido por 3
años y el
de segundo mayor de votos por 2 años. Se preguntó que si se aceptaba la cedula fue aceptada
por
muestra de manos.
*El Hno. Velázquez pregunto que quien compone los nombres de la cedula, El Superintendente
Rev.
Caleb Herrera respondió que el Concilio de SDMI.
* A las 2:45pm empezó la votación.
*La Hna. Dulce Villanueva Pastora de Niños dio un pequeño mensaje diciendo que nuestros
niños son vitales, y preguntaba que legado estamos dejando a nuestros niños.
* A las 2:55pm se presentó un especial musical por los niños de la iglesia de Houston Primera.

*A las 3:00pm se leyeron los siguientes reportes: la Tesorería, la Secretaria, Ministerios de
Niños, dos
reportes de Ministerios de Parejas. Todos los reportes fueron aceptados.
* A las 3:25pm se reconoció a los niños de Bible Quizzing World por haber asistido a la
competencia Mundial.
*Hna. Mora lee su Reporte de Esgrima Bíblico y se acepta.
*A las 3:40pm se tienen los resultados de la votación y queda elegida como Directora de
Distrito la
Hna. Rachel Maldonado con 55 votos si y 6 votos no y un voto nulo.
* Para MEDD Miembros adicionales la Hna. Dimas con mayor número de votos 38 por 3 años
y Hna. Eliu Ñuno 21 votos por 2 años.
*El Hno. Rogelio López lee su reporte de Ministerios de Parejas y se acepta.
*Hna. Raquel Arroyo lee también su reporte de Zona de San Antonio y comento que la Iglesia
de
Kingsville no reporto. Se acepta el reporte
*La Hna. Velázquez de la Iglesia Harlandale comento que ellos tienen el Ministerio de Baby
Day y Children’s Week y no se puso en el reporte. Si le informe que se harían las correcciones.
*Se pide por el Superintendente de Distrito que se autorice a la Secretaria Norma Álvarez para
corregir los informes y también que se destruyan las cedulas de votación que se usaron y las
restantes, y se autorizó por la mayoría de los delegados presentes.

District Superintendent Herrera, SDMI delegates and members of the Texas Oklahoma Latin
District
It is with a sincere and grateful heart that I submit my first District SDMI report for the
year 2013-2014. I am so thankful to my Lord and Savior for his love for me and my salvation.
He has been with me during this year of transition and challenges as your TOLD SDMI
Director. But, I also want to thank all the local SDMIs for your love and support of the
programs and ministries of SDMI.
The 2013-2014 year started out with a surprise as I received a text that I had been
elected the Director for this year. Thank you Aurora. I WAS surprised but while driving home
from work I told that Lord if this is what you want from me I am at your service. I LOVE
Sunday School and all it encompasses – from the Sunday classes, camp and ministries. I see
why these ministries are part of Sunday School. The involvement in these programs brings
people to the church where we can continue the mission of making Christlike disciples.
The year began with the zone tours. I was able to attend three of the four zone
conventions (West, Valley and Central) and I want to thank Norma Alvarez, TOLD SDMI
Secretary, for filling in for me at the San Antonio Zone. I would have loved to have been there
but a prior job commitment did not allow me to be with you. All local SDMI directors were
given their program books for the year with a little homemade gift.
By the time we met one of the calendar events “Baby Day” had come and gone and next
on the calendar was planning for the Children’s Camp and Couples’ Retreat. But in between all
this planning was the General SDMI Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana. It was a pleasure to
represent our district. Along with me was Lourdes Palacios and Yvonne Dimas in attendance.
The workshops were outstanding and very helpful but what was truly awesome were the
evening services and the spirit filled messages presented to the thousands of Nazarenes by our
General Superintendents was amazing.
During the SDMI convention week of activities, a tremendous recognition was our
children who were great representatives at the World Bible Quiz Competition. First time ever
in such an event. Our team was comprised of children from Houston, Las Palmas and Primera.

Thank you Yvonne Dimas, TOLD SDMI Children’s Ministries Director, for coordinating with
members of the represented churches for a memorable event for our children. You will meet
these great ambassadors of our district later. I also want to thank Isabel Mora for her work with
the churches for putting together some great Bible Quizzing competition and preparing our
children. Competition is one thing, but the understanding of the Word is what will live forever
with these children.
With summer it is time for Vacation Bible School – VBS – all child is waiting to hear.
This is the time to continue with ongoing ministry with children and also reaching out to the
parents. Not all of our churches had VBS which is something SDMI would like to see
remedied. Through the work of the Children’s Ministry this is a goal that the council would
like to see met with the work and assistance of the entire TOLD district – pastors, directors and
leaders of the local churches. You will hear more about 2013 VBS year from our Children’s
Ministry Director Yvonne Chavez.
Yvonne will also be covering Children’s Camp and the wonderful time we had with 42
children and 23 sponsors/chaperones in attendance. It was a great time, HOT, but an enjoyable
time. Thank you Dulce Villanueva for bringing the message to these young tender hearts. You
are truly a blessing to our children. There is just so much to say – singing, praising, swimming,
crafts, fellowship and S’MORES…what more can one ask for in an exciting camp. When you
see district leaders going through hula hoops and singing you know there is still a child in us.
We enter the fall and the Couples’ Retreat is just around the corner. As you know, our
district has two retreats for couples. One for the West and Central Zones under the direction of
Rev and Mrs. Angel Espinoza. The second for the San Antonio and Valley Zones under the
director of Rev and Mrs. Rogelio Lopez and Rev and Mrs. Raul Alfonso. From all accounts
these were successful with 52 couples having a great time in Kemah, TX and 10 couples
enjoying their time in Tishomingo, OK. Couples get ready for another great retreat this fall.
Information will be coming to you soon.
Another retreat that is in the works is for the ladies. Date of the retreat will be in
September and I want to thank Aurora Herrera and Lety Medrano for taking this ministry into
action. I look forward to seeing a good number of our ladies attending for a great time of
fellowship, spiritual growth and just plain fun. So ladies of the TOLD district, let’s get ready!!!!
As we entered 2014, I began to make preparation to attend the SDMI Leadership
conference for new Chairs (directors) in Charleston, South Carolina. This was a great
opportunity to meet with new directors from USA/Canada and to get more direction for our
programs. It was a pleasure to personally meet with Woodie Stevens and his wife plus 13 new
directors - with all the same questions. It was great that I was not alone. We prayed, discussed
and fellowship together during those 4 days. I picked up a lot of great information that you will
find in your directors and pastor packets. We were also given an opportunity one evening for a
sneak preview of “Son of God”.
The year went by very fast. Along the way, I answered and sent out a lot of emails and
text messages. What would we now do without computers and cell phones. So much for the

typewriter and postage stamps. As I mentioned, this has been a transitional year not only for me
but for the treasury and secretary. Thank you Norma Alvarez for stepping in and assisting me.
A BIG word of gratitude to Oscar Galvan for helping me this year and the difficulties in closing
the account, checks, etc. You have been such a great help to me and Brother Galvan will
present his final report to you. Karina Rangel will continue as our treasurer and all is ready for
the New Year. To the SDMI Council thank you for your support this year. You are all a
blessing to this council. I would also like to thank the NYI – Vania Palacios and MNI – Juanita
Diaz for your support of the SDMI and the important part you play in this vital department of
the church.
Another important group of people to thank my local church of Las Palmas and my
Pastor, Rev. Herrera. Thank you for your support and prayers. I can’t not thank this person,
our District Superintendent Herrera for assuring me that all will be OK.
We are now one month into the Church New Year. The question now is “Now what do
we do?” We are entering the new quadrennial for SDMI and the Church of the Nazarene. We
need to continue our work. . It is now 14 years into the 21st century. Do we, as SDMI
directors, seen growth and do we still have in our churches the children from 10 years ago?
Have we, as SDMI directors, emphasized the ministries of the SDMI? The last four years, did
we as SDMI emphasize “Engage the Word?” I pray that you have set goals for your local
church and SDMI program and that you presented wonderful reports at your annual meeting.
You are all in my prayers and I wish you a wonderful and spirit filled year as SDMI Directors.
My advice to you which I have found to be of great strength to me is found in the Book of
Isaiah…great words of encouragement….
"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen
you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." - Isaiah 41:10

Superintendente Herrera, Delegados de MEDD y miembros de TOLD
Es con un corazón sincero y agradecido que presento mi primer informe de TOLD MEDD
para el año 2013-2014. Estoy muy agradecido a mi Señor por su amor y mi salvación. Él ha
estado conmigo durante este año de transición y retos como su director de TOLD MEDD. Pero,
también quiero dar las gracias a todos los MEDDs locales por su amor y apoyo de los
programas y ministerios del MEDD.
El año 2013-2014 comenzó con UNA sorpresa, recibí un texto que yo había sido elegida el
Director para este año. Gracias Aurora. Me sorprendió, pero mientras conducía a casa del
trabajo le dijo al Señor, si esto es lo que quieres de mí estoy a su servicio. AMO a la Escuela
Dominical y todo lo que abarca - las clases de la Escuela Dominical, campamento y ministerios.
Ya veo por qué estos ministerios son parte de la Escuela Dominical. La participación en estos
programas trae a la gente a la iglesia donde podemos continuar la misión de hacer discípulos
semejantes a Cristo.
El año comenzó con las giras de las zonas. Tuve la oportunidad de asistir a tres de los cuatro
giras de la zona (Oeste, Valle y Central) y quiero dar las gracias a Norma Álvarez, Secretaria
MEDD, tomando mi lugar en la Zona de San Antonio. Me hubiera gustado haber estado allí,
pero un compromiso de trabajo no me permitió estar con ustedes. Todos los directores locales
de MEDD recibieron sus libros para el año con un pequeño regalo.
Al comenzar las giras, el "Día de Bebé" ya se había celebrado y al calendario ya era tiempo
de planean el Campamento Infantil y Retiros de Parejas. Pero en medio de toda esta
planificación fue la Convención General de MEDD en Indianápolis, Indiana. Fue un placer
representar a nuestro distrito. En asistencia estaba Lourdes Palacios e Yvonne Dimas. Los
talleres eran excepcionales y muy servicial, pero lo que era verdaderamente impresionante
fueron los servicios de la tarde y los mensajes que fueron llenos del Espíritu Santo presentados
a los miles de nazarenos por nuestros Superintendentes Generales…fue increíble.
Durante la semana de MEDD actividades, un gran reconocimiento fue a nuestros niños que
fueron grandes representantes en el Concurso Bíblico Mundial. Primera vez en un evento de

este tipo. Nuestro equipo se compone de niños de Houston, Las Palmas y Primera. Gracias
Yvonne Dimas, Director de Ministerios Infantil, por coordinar con las iglesias de estos niños
representadas para un evento memorable para nuestros niños. Usted va conocer gran
embajadores de nuestro distrito más tarde. También quiero dar las gracias a Isabel Mora por su
trabajo con las iglesias para la constitución de un gran concurso Esgrima Bíblico y preparar a
nuestros niños. La competencia es una cosa, pero la comprensión de la Palabra es lo que va a
vivir para siempre con estos niños.
Con el comienzo del verano es el momento para Escuela Bíblica Vacacional - VBS - todo
niño está esperando oír el anuncio. Este es el momento de continuar con la continuación del
ministerio con niños y también trabajar con los padres. No todas nuestras iglesias tuvieron VBS
que es algo MEDD gustaría ver remediado. A través del trabajo de Ministerio Infantil este es un
objetivo que el concilio le gustaría ver cumplido con el trabajo y la asistencia de todo el distrito
TOLD - pastores, directores y líderes de las iglesias locales. Usted escuchará más acerca del
reporte del 2013 VBS por la Directora de Ministerio Infantil, Yvonne Chávez.
Yvonne también estará reportando sobre el Campamento de Niños y el tiempo maravilloso
que tuvimos con 42 niños y 23 patrocinadores / chaperones en asistencia. Fue un gran
momento, CALIENTE, pero un tiempo agradable. Gracias Dulce Villanueva por llevar el
mensaje a estos niños con corazones tiernos. Usted es realmente una bendición para nuestros
niños. Hay mucho que decir - cantando, alabando, natación, manualidades, compañerismo y
pastelitos (S’MORES) ... ¿qué más se puede pedir en un campamiento lleno de emoción.
Cuando uno puede ver a los líderes del distrito pasar por hula hoops y cantando hay se puede
ver que todavía hay un niño en nosotros.
Entra el otoño y el retiro de las parejas está a la vuelta. Como ustedes saben, nuestro distrito
tiene dos retiros para parejas. Las zonas Occidental y Central bajo la dirección del Rdo. y la
Sra. Ángel Espinoza. El segunda retiro, las Zonas de San Antonio y del Valle bajo la dirección
de Rdo. y la Señora Rogelio López y Rdo. y la Señora Raúl Alfonso. De todas las cuentas fue
de un éxito. Cincuenta y dos parejas tuvieron un gran tiempo en Kema, TX y 10 parejas
disfrutando de su tiempo en Tishomingo, OK. Parejas de TOLD preparase para los retiros del
otoño. Información vendrá pronto.
Otro retiro que se encuentra en las obras es para las damas. Fecha del retiro será en
septiembre y quiero dar las gracias a Aurora Herrera y Lety Medrano por tomar este ministerio
y organización. Espero poder ver un buen número de nuestras damas asistir y disfrutar de un
gran tiempo de compañerismo, crecimiento espiritual y pura diversión. Así que, damas del
distrito, hagan planes!!!
Al entrar en 2014, empecé a hacer la preparación para asistir a la conferencia de Liderazgo
MEDD de los nuevos directores en Charleston, Carolina del Sur. Esta fue una gran oportunidad
de conocer a los nuevos directores de EE.UU. / Canadá y conseguir más sentido para nuestros
programas. Fue un placer conocer personalmente a Woodie Stevens y su esposa además de 13
nuevos directores - con las mismas preguntas. Fue genial que no estaba solo. Oramos,
discutimos y disfrutamos un compañerismo juntos durante estos 4 días. Recogí una gran
cantidad de información que se encuentra en sus paquetes. También nos dieron una oportunidad
una noche de ver previa la vista "Son of God."

El año pasó muy rápido. Durante este año, le respondí y envié muchos correos electrónicos y
mensajes de texto. ¿Qué haríamos ahora prescindir de computadoras y teléfonos celulares. Esto
en cuanto a las máquinas de escribir y sellos postales. Como ya les he dicho, éste ha sido un año
de transición, no sólo para mí sino para la tesorería y la secretaria. Gracias Norma Álvarez por
intervenir y ayudarme. Palabras GRANDE de gratitud a Oscar Galván por ayudarme este año y
las dificultades para cerrar la cuenta, cheques, etc. Usted ha sido una gran ayuda para mí y el
Hermano Galván presentará su informe final. Karina Rangel continuará como nuestro tesorero
y todo está listo para el año nuevo. Al concilio MEDD gracias por su apoyo este año. Todos
ustedes son una bendición para mí. También me gustaría dar las gracias a la JNI - Vania
Palacios y MNI - Juanita Díaz por su apoyo a MEDD y la parte importante que juegan en este
departamento vital de la iglesia.
Otro grupo importante de personas de que agradecer, mi iglesia local de Las Palmas y mi
Pastor, Rdo. Herrera. Gracias por su apoyo y sus oraciones. No puedo dejar de agradecer a esta
persona, nuestro Superintendente del Distrito Herrera para asegurarme de “que todo irá bien”.
Ahora estamos a un mes del año nuevo de la Iglesia. La pregunta ahora es "¿Y ahora qué
hacemos?" Estamos entrando en el nuevo cuatrienio para MEDD y la Iglesia del Nazareno.
Tenemos que continuar con nuestro trabajo. Ahora tiene 14 años en el siglo 21. ¿Tenemos,
como directores de MEDD, visto el crecimiento y qué todavía tenemos en nuestras iglesias los
niños de hace 10 años? ¿Hemos, como directores de MEDD, implementado los ministerios de
la MEDD? Los últimos cuatro años, dimos énfasis como directores de MEDD "Engage the
Word?" Espero que ya han establecido metas para su iglesia local y el programa de MEDD y
que presentaron informes maravillosos en su reunión anual. Todos ustedes, directores de
MEED, están en mis oraciones y les deseo un año maravilloso y lleno del Espíritu Santo. Mi
consejo para usted y lo que he encontrado para ser de gran fuerza para mí se encuentra en el
Libro de Isaías ... grandes palabras de aliento….
Así que no temas, porque yo estoy contigo;

Primeramente quiero agradecer a mi Dios por la Salvación de mi alma y el perdón de mis
pecados, por su amor y misericordia que es grande cada día , es un honor y privilegio servir a
mi Señor Jesucristo. Quiero agradecer también a Dios por darme la oportunidad de servirle
como secretaria de Distrito y a todos ustedes que han confiado en mi para este ministerio.
Es mi primer año como secretaria y les pido de su paciencia
Durante este año he asistido a las juntas del concilio , hemos estado planeando las actividades
para los diferentes ministerios, He asistido también a las convenciones y voy a dar un taller de
escuela dominical y misiones, actualmente soy maestra de escuela dominical, y bueno aunque
por el momento no es muy grande mi informe, todo lo que hago es con mucho amor, y respeto
para el Señor Jesucristo.

Estimado Superintendente Rev. Caleb Herrera, Directora de Escuela Dominical Hna. Rachel
Maldonado, Pastores de nuestro distrito T.O.L.D., amigos y visitantes, primeramente le doy
gracias a Dios por el privilegio de trabajar en Ministerios entre los Niños a nivel distrital porque
Él ha demostrado que EL es fiel y porque para siempre es su misericordia. 2 Timoteo 1:7 dice
Porque no nos ha dado Dios espíritu de cobardía, sino de poder, de amor y de dominio propio.
Este texto ha sido mi refugio durante este año, Dios se ha manifestado grandemente en los
niños de T.O.L.D. durante el año 2013-2014. Mi informe es lo siguiente:
BIBLE QUIZZING
En este año tuvimos un gran éxito a nivel distrital en Bible Quizzing! Pudimos llevar 15 niños a
World Quiz 2013 in Indianapolis, Indiana para competir a nivel mundial. Fué un gran placer
ver nuestros niños concursar y ver que nuestro distrito fue reconocido a nivel mundial. Se que
los niños tuvieron un buen tiempo y será algo memorable que llevaran dentro de sus corazones.
Para mi fué un momento especial, un sueño que se convirtió en realidad. 4 años soñaba con ver
a nuestro distrito participar en World Quiz y Dios mi concedió verlo contestando esa petición.
No solo participaron en World Quiz nuestro niños sino en Kids Reaching Kids y en el servicio
de Compassionate Ministries. Gracias a las Iglesias que ayudaron a sus niños primeramente con
oración, donaciones y proyectos especiales. No es en vano trabajar con los niños porque
mañana veremos el resultado. Gracias hna. Isabel Mora por su apoyo en este evento, momentos
en que parecía imposible hacer este viaje pero Dios abrió puertas en una manera maravillosa!
Nuestra meta es que en 2017 llevemos no solo 15 niños sino todos los que se puedan para
competir en World Quiz en Indianapolis, Indiana.
Este año los niños de Bible Quizzing estudiaron el libro de Génesis. Tuvimos 5 competencias
durante el año. Gracias a las Iglesias Emmanuel, Laredo, Mercedes, Houston, Las Palmas y San
Antonio Primera por motivar a sus niños para que estudien la palabra de Dios y puedan
competir.
CAMPAMENTO DE NIÑOS
El Campamento de Niños fue en Camp Zephyr en Sandia, Texas. Fué una experiencia
maravillosa. Su servidora fue la directora del Campamento. Dios se manifestó grandemente, los
niños juntamente con los adultos disfrutaron y fueron bendecidos con los mensajes de nuestra
oradora especial la hna. Dulce Villanueva ella motivó a los niños a servir a Dios tomando como

base la porción bíblica en 2ª. De Timoteo 1:7 “Porque no nos a dado Dios espíritu de cobardía,
sino de poder, de amor y de dominio propio”. Disfrutaron de ‘’game night”, bonfire, música,
crafts, Bible Quizzing, y “swimming”. Tuvimos una asistencia de 44 niños y 22 adultos.
Gracias a las Iglesias de Mercedes, Las Palmas y San Antonio Primera por apoyarnos.
Esperamos que este año, más iglesias participen en el campamento de Niños.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL/ ESCUELA BIBLICAL VACACIONAL
Escuela Bíblica Vacacional es una forma de evangelizar y ministrar la palabra de Dios a los
niños. Solamente 21 iglesias reportaron.
De acuerdo a los reportes recibidos tenemos:
Total de promedio de niños - 38 en todo el distrito, incluyendo los que reportaron, pero
que no tuvieron VBS.
Sé que este área es difícil pero con la ayuda de Dios se puede lograr y ojalá que para el próximo
año más iglesias puedan participar.
AGRADECIMIENTO
Quiero agradecer a nuestro distrito T.O.L.D. por su apoyo en oración y participación en las
actividades de Niños. Este ministerio no se puede realizar sin los niños de las iglesias locales.

Gracias a la Hna. Rachel Maldonado por el apoyo brindado a este ministerio que es hermoso y
que aunque quizás no vemos fruto ahora, lo veremos en el futuro.
Gracias al Superintendente de distrito Rev. Caleb Herrera y a su esposa Aurora por su apoyo y
por darme el privilegio de trabajar en SU obra como directora de Ministerio entre los Niños.
Gracias por estar siempre dispuestos a apoyarme y aunque para mí fué un shock saber que iba
ser directora de campamento, ustedes confiaron en que yo lo podría hacer. Gracias por todo!
Este año fue una bendición saber que dos nuevas iglesias participaron a nivel distrital:
Mercedes y Emmanuel. Gracias a nuestra directora de distrito de Bible Quizzing hna. Isabel
Mora, a tu equipo: tu familia y miembros de tu iglesia que siempre te ayudaban en scorekeeping
y acomodar las sillas para las competencias. Gracias por el anhelo de servir a Dios en esta área
y que Dios siempre te bendiga ricamente.
Gracias, mil gracias, mil gracias a mi iglesia local, San Antonio Primera por permitirme trabajar
en su obra y por ser flexible conmigo. Gracias por apoyarme a nivel distrital y local. Los amo
mucho porque sin su ayuda y su apoyo no pudiera lograr todo lo que se hizo en nuestro distrito.

Muchas gracias por sus oraciones, sus abrazos y hago mención de mi equipo: Juanita Arroyo,

Este año pasado Dios me dio las fuerzas para trabajar en su obra, cuando el desánimo vino Dios
estuvo allí para levantarme. Dios obró grandemente en este año en el ministerio entre los niños
a nivel distrital. Dios es grande y todopoderoso! Solamente sé que cuando dejamos todo en las
manos de Dios, podemos hacer grandes cosas para su obra!

Reporte Anual distrital de Esgrima Bíblico infantil
2013-2014
Instruye al niño en el camino correcto, y aun en su vejez no lo abandonará. Proverbios 22: 6
Marzo 16,2013 se llevó a cabo en la iglesia de Houston, la última competencia del libro de
Hechos ; se seleccionaron los niños que cumplieron con los requisitos y normas de World Quiz.
Iglesias participantes en este evento fueron: Houston Primera, Las Palmas, San Antonio
Primera y Laredo a nivel de distrital
En Junio 22,2013 los participantes que fueron seleccionados de TOLD asistieron por primera
vez a World Quiz en Indianápolis. Todos los pequeños fueron 100% preparados con el estudio
del libro de Los Hechos para honra y Gloria de nuestro Dios. El más sincero agradecimiento a
todos los padres, pastores y maestros que ayudaron a nuestros pequeños nazarenos a lograr este
objetivo. Dios bendiga a las Iglesias San Antonio Primera: Keyla Chavez, Josiah Chavez,
Jennifer Jiménez, Jessica Jiménez, Brianna Arroyo, Richard García y Gloria Salazar; la iglesia
de Houston: Keyla Segura, Gabriela Segura, Génesis Martinez, Carlos James, Isabela Cuellar y
David Villarreal; la iglesia de Las Palmas: Karis Toledo, Dimitri Toledo Alexa Villanueva y
Daniela Villanueva, Camila Rangel. Todos los participantes recibieron su trofeo de World Quiz
2013, para honra y Gloria del Rey de reyes y Señor de señores.
El 20 de Julio, 2013 en Houston Primera comenzamos el arranque con el Nuevo estudio del
libro de Génesis, nuevamente participaron los niños de las Iglesias de Houston Primera Las
Palmas y San Antonio Primera. Tuvimos 21 participantes.
8 a 10 de Agosto 2013 En el mini campamento de niños en Zephyr continuamos con el estudio
del libro de Génesis; Iglesias participantes fueron San Antonio Primera, Las Palmas y
Mercedes. Tuvimos un total de 21 participantes. Red level: Alexa Villarreal, Marvin Peña,
Gerardo Lemus, Ángel Salazar, Josiah Chávez, Alexa Villanueva, Keila González, Keyla
Chavez. Blue level: Camila Rangel, Daniela Villanueva, Gloria Salazar, Richard García, Denise

31 de Agosto 2013, tuvimos la tercera competencia del Libro de Génesis en el retiro de Six
flags Dallas/ Fort Worth en Church of the Nazarene. Iglesias participantes Las Palmas, Houston
Primera y Primera de San Antonio. Tuvimos 27 participantes. Dios bendiga a nuestros

18 de enero 2014 tuvimos la cuarta competencia del año eclesiástico 2013-2014; hubo una
asistencia de 34 participantes en la Iglesia de Las Palmas; Iglesias participantes: San Antonio
Primera. Las Palmas, Laredo y Emanuel. El más sincero agradecimiento por el gran apoyo a

Estimados hermanos en Cristo de nuestro Distrito Texas/Oklahoma. Mi agradecimiento a

Desde la iglesia más chica a la iglesia más grande de nuestro Distrito, les amo a toda ustedes
por sus esfuerzos promoviendo el programa de Misiones Nazarenas para que nuestros
misioneros sigan con la obra de Dios en el campo misionero! Les agradezco de todo corazón
por sus oraciones, por su amor y pasión y por su apoyo financiero a la obra Misionera!
Gracias a todas las Iglesias que se han esforzado este año por alcanzar todas sus metas.
Han cumplido con sus presupuestos, y han envuelto a los adultos, jóvenes y niños en
actividades de misiones. Han respondido fielmente con oración y sus finanzas soportando a
nuestros misioneros Internacionales. Felicidades a las iglesias que durante este año
alcanzaron la meta “Certificado Prioridad Uno” y el “Certificado a la Excelencia”.

Amamos a cada Iglesia de nuestro Distrito y siempre esperamos que toda iglesia cumpla con
la metas.
Si su Iglesia no está en la lista este ano, les animo a que se esfuercen y trabajen a
alcanzarlos.
Este año hubo 13 iglesias que cumplieron con las metas del certificado “Misión Prioridad
Uno”.
Mientras leo el nombre de cada iglesia, voy a pedir que su presidente pase para ser
reconocida por su buen trabajo. Nuestro Hermano Superintendente y su servidora
entregaremos el certificado.

IGLESIA DE EXCELENCIA:
Gracias a las Iglesias que sobre pasaron el 5.5% del Fondo de Evangelismo Mundial (FEM).
Veo el amor y pasión de los hermanos por la obra misionera cuando una iglesia cumple con
su presupuesto y se lanza a un más en sobre dar sus ofrendas al fondo de Evangelismo
Mundial. Me emociono cuando veo iglesias que sobre pasan su meta por el amor y
compasión a la “Gran Comisión” que Jesús nos dio!
Cuando no se cumple el Fondo FEM, afecta la vida de los misioneros que siguen en el campo
y a un limita a la Iglesia General a enviar nuevos misioneros al campo por falta de recursos
financieros. Las buenas nuevas es que una iglesia que lo cumple y sobre pasa su
presupuesto hace una gran contribución a la obra misionera general.
Sobre pasando la meta no es fácil de alcanzar, se necesita mucha Oración, Compasión, y
Dedicación para alcanzar y sobre pasar la meta y finalmente alcanzar el nivel “Iglesia de
Excelencia”. Mi oración es que en el próximo año 2014 – 2015 que el 100% de nuestras
iglesias del Distrito sobre pasen su presupuesto.

TRABAJO Y TESTIMONIO
Admiro a los hermanos y hermanas de nuestras Iglesias cuando responden al llamado de
compasión en tiempos de emergencia como respondieron al Trabajo y Testimonio (Work &
Witness) que se llevó acabo después del terrible tornado en Moore, Oklahoma. Muchas
Gracias a los hermanos y Jóvenes de las diferentes Iglesias que respondieron a este
ministerio. Gracias a la hermana Dianne De Hoyos por tomar el cargo de organizar el
proyecto juntamente con el hermano Ángel Espinoza y Javier De Hoyos. Gracias a toda
iglesia que respondió enviando materiales, comida y su manos de obra. Nuestro Hermano
De Hoyos estará dando un breve reporte del trabajo Work & Witness que se realizó en el
desastre del en Oklahoma.
Quiero a este tiempo reconocer a los hermanos y hermanas, ayudantes y todos los que
participaron en el esfuerzo de Trabajo y Testimonio en Moore, Oklahoma.

PRESIDENTE DEL MNI:
Durante los principios días después del año pasado, tuve el privilegio de viajar y compartir en
las Giras del Distrito en compañía de nuestro superintendente y los presidentes de JNI y
MEDD.
Siempre es una bendición visitar las zonas y iglesias para presentar el plan de trabajo. Dios
me dio la oportunidad de presentarme a la zona de San Antonio y la zona del Valle donde
compartimos mensajes por nuestro hermano Roberto Hodson. No me fue posible asistir al la
zona del West, pero Gracias a nuestro Superintendente quien nos representó en mi ausencia.
En la Gira de la zona del Centro, nuestra misionera invitada fue nuestra hermana Mary
Jonhson, MNI representante de la región SNU, Sur Tejas. Felicito a la zona del Centro que
tomo el liderazgo de invitar a sus propios oradores y organizar sus servicios Misioneros.
Muchas Gracias al hermano Ángel Espinoza por envolver a las Iglesias del Centro.
Mi agradecimiento a Dios y a todos ustedes por darme el privilegio de ser parte de la
Convención MNI General este pasado verano en Indianapolis, Indiana. Represente a nuestro
Distrito juntamente con nuestros delegados Rev. Ángel Espinoza y Ingrid Palacios. ¡El viaje
fue toda una aventura y de mucha Bendición!. El señor me hablo de una manera muy
especial a mi espíritu. En diferentes maneras al mismo tiempo fue la primera ocasión que
viaje sola sin mi familia, pero Dios me dio una compañera con quien disfrute su compañía
durante el viaje a Indianapolis. ¡Gracias Liz por tu compañía!
¡Es hermoso ver y conocer a miles de hermanos de diferentes culturas hablando diferentes
idiomas, alabando y glorificando a Dios en un mismo espíritu, a un mismo Dios! Asistí a los
talleres y participe en muchas actividades.

Participe y mantuve comunicación con las oficinas Generales y Regionales por medio de
internet video conferencias con el Dr. Daniel Ketchum, Mary Johnson, y todas las Presidentes
de Distritos de la Region de Sur Texas. Fueron tiempos de Orar unos por otros, presentando
peticiones y tratando planes y negocios del departamento Generales de Misiones Nazarenas
Insternacionales.

A nuestros miembros del concilio una vez más “Gracias por su ayuda” aún falta mucho que
hacer.

President’s Report
District Superintendent, Caleb Herrera; NYI delegates, pastors, family, and friends.
I stand here thankful and marveled at the blessings and love of our God. I know I would not
have been able to fulfill the call to His ministry if it wasn’t for His anointing presence that
empowers us to build the Kingdom. Falling more and more in love with His presence every
day is what has kept me going…because only through Him I was able to humbly serve Him.
When I think I’ve reached a peak in life God surprises me with different perspectives, different
goals, approaches, and the continuous renewing of my heart. I am so glad that I live under
grace, because without it, I would not be here sharing the greatness of the Lord with you. If
only I had a transcriber so you could understand my heart and see how much I love and long
for God’s presence and glory, you’d be immediately wanting to encounter the Lord the way I
have this past year. God is beautiful!
Serving has not been smooth sailing, but when I think that I am about to give up, find the
presence of God once again and remember that “He who called me is faithful, and He will do
it”. I cling on to that promise every time situations seem difficult or stressful. I love you God.
This year has been of so much learning…so, so, so much learning…I literally felt like if I learned
anymore I’d burst! I am new at being a youth pastor, new at being an NYI president, and new
at being a graduate student, but God was my guide and my strength through it all and, I
obviously didn’t burst. I could go on and on about how much I love God, how much He has
taught me through these 12 months, and how much I have grown but I don’t think you’d like
to hear a novel as a DP report.
All the events we had as a district were successful not because of the number of people we
had in attendance, but because the presence of God was there, lives were changed, and His
name
was magnified. I was able to attend most of the events in our district and to meet many
young people who are in love with and seeking God.

April 27th, 2013: District Tour San Antonio Zone in Corpus Christi.

April 28th, 2013: District Tour Valley Zone in Mercedes.

May 11th 2013: SNU graduation and Central Zone District Tour in OKC Segunda.

May 18th 2013: District Tour West Zone in Lubbock (Our VP Brenda Alfonso went in my
place because I had a previous engagement).

May 23-24, 2013: South Central NYI meeting at Southern Nazarene University. It was a
time of planning and getting to know our region’s DP’s…and then I realized I was the
only girl DP in the council!

May 24-27, 2013: Extravaganza at Southern Nazarene University. Our speaker was
Jeremiah Bolich. We had 39 people from our district attend. For the first time after
many, many, many years of getting second place our TOLD soccer team brought 1st
place home! Our district had representation in quizzing, poetry, soccer, J.H. boys
basketball, and volleyball. The services were great! And God really spoke through
evangelist Jeremiah Bolich about being BOLD by living a true life in Christ and the
deliverance from sin.

June 19-21, 2013: Global NYI Convention in Indianapolis, IN. I don’t know where to
begin telling you that this experience was amazing! I have attended General
Conventions since I was a kid, but being part of the NYI convention, with virtual sites
around the world, and getting to know other Nazarenes involved in youth ministry
around the world was such a blessing to us. Our delegates to the NYI Global
convention were Brenda, Richi, Xavier, and I; Diane joined us and was so helpful when
it came to booking flights and hotel. Thank you, Di for that! I felt challenged to see that
although NYI number of members is rising around the world, the number of US NYI
members is declining…there is so much work to do here to reach young people for
Christ! BE. DO. GO. is the new quadrennial theme…and it fits perfectly with the
challenge I have taken and will challenge you to also take this new year…BE.
Evangelism. DO. Discipleship.
GO. Leadership Development…our cities need young people to BE.DO.GO for His
kingdom…we need radical youth who want the love of Christ to explode through our
lives and reach others! Take the quadrennial theme as a challenge for your youth
group and not just as a nice graphic that we will hang on a banner at our churches.

July 29-Aug. 2, 2013: Camp – Life in the Spirit with speaker Nate Cook at Zephyr Baptist
Encampment in Sandia, TX. All I can say is that God poured out His Spirit upon our
youth during camp and I have personally seen the Fruit it has been bearing! We had 92
youth in attendance. (Diane will share more about camp with you in her report.)

August 30th 2013: Naz-Nite at Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington, TX.

August 31st 2013: Annual Worship Gathering at Fort Worth First Church of the
Nazarene in Fort Worth, TX., with Dulce Villanueva as our speaker. We had an
attendance of 120 during our worship service. Praise God for His presence during this
time! (Orlando will share more in his report.)

October 13-14, 2013: South Central NYI Fall meeting at Southern Nazarene University.

We had to cancel our Fall Retreat due to the lack of response and the late publicity
that we sent out. As a council, we will continue praying and discussing if this retreat
will continue or will cease.

January 31-Feb. 2, 2013: Leader’s retreat in Brownwood, TX (Heart of Texas Baptist
Camp) with Brett Armstrong as our speaker. It was a time of learning, healing, sharing,
worshiping, and resting in the Lord. I was so blessed to be there and see the 33 young
people who are striving to be better leaders at their local church and district! (Xavier
will share more about this event in his report.)
 We had a total of four council meetings which were all held in San Antonio, TX.
In October, we had a change in treasury and we want to thank Manuel Valentin for his two
years of service as treasurer in our district. Our council appointed Byanca Guajardo as our
new treasurer and we are blessed with what she is doing to serve God and our district. She
will be presenting our financial report.
We also had our secretary resign on February 19, 2014. Thank you, Rosario for your time
serving TOLD NYI.
The churches that turned in their reports this year were: Columbia Heights, Emmanuel,
Houston, Laredo, Mercedes, OKC Primera, OKC Segunda, S.A. Primera, and S.A. Las Palmas.
These reports are important, they provide information of our growth, achievements, and
allow our churches to be recognized as NYI Honor Society. The three churches that reached all
goals according to their reports for NYI Honor Society are: Emmanuel, Houston, and S.A.
Primera.

At the beginning of September 2012 I began having medical complications that got worse and
worse with time. The doctors could not find what it was and I was just put in different
treatments without seeing much improvement. I was in constant pain from the beginning and
then it turned to pain 24/7. After some time the doctor had an idea of what could be
happening inside me but said there was no other way to know for sure other than to perform
surgery to check it out…if it was what he suspected and getting rid of it was not taken care of
soon, future repercussions could arise. This kept me from attending the pastor’s retreat this
year and it also affected my level of energy to an extreme! I was devastated, in pain, and tired;
I was then reminded that God shows Himself as powerful and miraculous through situations
like this! I was clinging on to Him again and trusting in His power. I had surgery on October
29th , 2013 after more than a year of living in pain. It was what the doctor suspected; they got
rid of what was causing all that pain and praise God the pain is minimal (almost non-existent)
now compared to how it was. Thank all of you who kept me in prayer and who anointed me
for God’s healing.
NYI council…we did it with God’s help! Thanks, to each one of you: Brenda, Byanca, Richi,
Stephanie, Jonathan, Jacque, Melissa, Lorely, Andrew, Lupe, Orlando, Xavier, Diane, and
Rosario for your willingness to serve God and our NYI, for your prayers, for ALL, and I mean
ALL you do! I’m so glad we worked together this year! You all are troopers!!! :D
TOLD NYI thank you for your patience, guidance, help, understanding, prayers, and
memorable moments! Let’s keep working for the kingdom!
I want to thank my parents for all their prayers, support, and guidance; I love you both and I
want you to know that I look up to your sacrificial and loving service to God. Thank you for
believing in my calling and helping me develop as a leader. Only you two could handle me and
my crazy as parents, and for that I thank God and you!
Levi, my baby brother, thank you for always letting me share with you. Thank you for putting
up with me as a sister and for sharing your wisdom with me at such a young age. In a quiet
yet strong way you are a blessing to my life. Love you, coso.
Josh, although you couldn’t be here today, I want you to know how thankful I am for always
supporting me in prayer, guidance, ideas, help, love, patience, and allowing me to just talk
when I needed to, I am so blessed with you!
Grandma, tio Ricky, tia Lulu, Richi, and Jaaziel, thank you so very much for opening your home
to me every time I needed to be in San Antonio for meetings. For your support and infinite
prayers, and for all the warm meals you shared with me. May God multiply your hospitality
and generosity a 100 times more!

To District Superintendent Rev. Caleb Herrera, Vania Palacios NYI president,
to NYI council, and to everyone attending today.
First of all I want to thank my God and Savior Jesus Christ for my salvation.
This year was tough due to my health. I want to thank everyone who prayed
me. I was very sick and Jesus healed me. I will never stop thanking the Lord
for all his blessings upon my life. I live to serve him.
In 2013 I attended Extravaganza where we won 1st Place in soccer. Yay! I also
attended Camp 2013 where I helped with worship and small groups. I was a
delegate at Global Convention this past year. This event changed my life and
confirmed a special calling upon my life. I thank you for allowing me to
attend. I represented Vania at west Texas when she was unable to attend.
NYC leadership Conference took place In Louisville, Kentucky two weeks ago
and I also attended. I received important information needed for this event
that will be taking place in 2015. I got very sick on this trip and ended up in
emergency room but once again, God was there to pull me through. I was in
charge of putting together Wacky Tacky Carnival. I want to thank Stephanie
Chavez a dear friend who let us borrow all canopies, Christmas lights and a
lot of the games used last night. She also donated $100 through Access
Dental.
Thank you everyone who helped out setting up for carnival. I couldn’t have
done it without you all.
I would like to thank my Dad and my mom for their unconditional support.
To my church for understanding my absence at church due to District duties.
I also thank Vania for her leadership and her support. I want to thank our DP
Rev. Caleb Herrera for his prayers and words of wisdom and encouragement
for my family and myself.
Once again I want to thank The Lord for the opportunity I have to serve him.

Youth Camp Report
2013-2014
District Superintendent Rev Caleb Herrera, District President Vania Palacios, Delegates,
and Friends:
As soon as I began investing in the lives of young people through Youth Camp, I began to
learn that this is the work of restoration. You hope and pray that some of our kids will
leave camp renewed and/or have a new passion for their relationship with the living God.
Youth Camp is retreat, it’s listening, and it’s opening up and asking questions. It’s finding
God where God may be found and listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit. It’s a place in
kids’ lives where they are enlivened and enriched, transformed, and hopefully, always
being formed in the image of Jesus Christ. Our roles are one of guiding students into
spiritual formation for the mission of God.
Somewhere along the way we have discovered spiritual direction. We were intentional in
creating spaces for sharing once again…sharing life experiences and faith experiences.
Through conversation and communication in small groups, asking teachable questions,
seeking the Truth as it is in Jesus Christ, we learn a lot from each other. We learn of a God
who is loving and capable, holy and forgiving, demanding and empowering, one and three.
We learn of a forgiveness that is neither deserved nor earned, but rather is freely given by
the loving God. We learn of a body of believers known as the Church that is God’s
instrument for reaching a world in need of His love, power, forgiveness, and truth. That’s
been our experience at Camp. And with the help of the Holy Spirit, our teens will continue
to be transformed from the inside out.
Thank you Pastor Nate Cook for spending the week with us as our Speaker. Nate is one of
X’s coffee/conversation buddies. And it was clear why X spoke highly of him. Nate has
such a way with speaking to teens. So many commented on how Nate was making a
connection and making the message so clear and easy to understand. Our theme was Life
in the Spirit. We are to live in the Spirit out of a love for God. Nate challenged us to “come
clean”…there must be a posture of confession. Sin in your life keeps the living water from
flowing freely in your life. Nate said – come clean…live by the Spirit’s power. Thank you
Nate for making that connection with us at Camp this year.
I wish to thank all those that helped make this year’s Camp a success. Our Praise &
Worship team of Vania, Brenda, Richi, Tony, Alex, Eric, Eddy…thanks for leading us into
the presence of God and allowing His work among our young people. Our Pastors Rev
Lopez, Rev Palacios, Rev Herrera, and Sister Alfonso…thank you for your support at Youth
Camp. I would also like to thank our small group leaders…Manuel, Rosario, Brenda, Astrid,

Vania, Eddy, and Xavier. Without their leadership and guidance, the small groups wouldn’t
have been as effective.
Once again, I thank you for the opportunity to help and direct our district Youth Camp. It
is a job not taken lightly or for granted.

2013-2014 District Bible Quizzing Report
To the members of our district’s NYI, delegates representing our churches, District President (my lovely
cousin) Vania Palacios, District Superintendent Rev. Caleb Herrera.
Before I give out data and records, I’d first like to acknowledge every Bible Quizzer that we have in our
district; after this I’d like to acknowledge every hard working coach. I say this every year, but you guys
truly are AWESOME and it is SO much fun working with you guys.
We studied the amazing book of Romans. This year our quizzing activities included:
 SNU Extravaganza
 TOLD Youth Camp
 TOLD Six Flags Retreat
We had participation from more than 25 quizzers, from the churches of… Houston Primera, San
Antonio Primera, Emmanuel, Las Palmas, and Mercedes. We also introduced college Quizzing at camp,
which is something I hope can be continued by our next Bible Quizzing director, and made better.
I would like to congratulate all the winners from the competitions, both teams and individuals. I’d also
like to remind y’all that, even though it may sound too cliché, every quizzer has won something. Work
is never in vain, especially if it’s for God.
I truly believe that Bible Quizzing is a ministry that can be used to encourage our youth to actively learn
the word of God, to increase our youth groups’ participation and involvement (locally as well as district
wide) and to call young people to God. Even if it is just for one young person, I invite and pray that
every church leader here make an effort to look into how to make Bible Quizzing possible at your
church. We are here to serve you. It was an honor (and an adventure) to serve God in this ministry.
