Let Them Grow!
How many times you’ve said to your kids: You’re still not a grown
up, you’re still a child? Then one minute later you say: Behave
like a grown up! You’re not a kid anymore!. Is them or us who’re
struggling with growth?

Is Hard for us parents recognize
when our kids are growing. Is even
more harder when they start looking
their own horizons. Sometimes we
prefer to ignore.
How many times you’ve said to
your kids: you’re not a grown up,
you’re still a child? Then one minute
later you yell: Behave like a grown
up, you’re not a child anymore! Is it
them or us who are struggling with
growth?
3:30 am there was a huricane
heading towards Puerto Rico’s
Island. I’ve just reached my 8th
month and two weeks of pregnancy. It’s been 12 hours of contractions and my obtetrician told me
that I was schedule for two more
weeks. I tried to ignore my pain. In
those moments I learn the pregnant

exactly when they’re going to give
birth. I was not the exception.

¿Cuántas veces le has dicho a tus hijos? No eres grande, aún eres un niño, y
otro dia le dices: !Comportate cómo un adulto! ¡ya no eres pequeño! ¿Serán ellos o
nosotros los que peleamos contra el crecimiento?
Son las 3:30 de la madruga, habían
anunciado un huracán para la Isla
de Puerto Rico, acababa de cumplir
mis ocho meses y dos semanas
de embarazo, tenía unas 12 horas
de contracciones y el médico de
cabecera me había dicho que
no daría a luz hasta dos semanas
después, así que no me prestaba
mucha atención. En esos momentos
aprendí que solo una mujer embarazada sabe cuando se acerca la
hora del alumbramiento. Yo no era
la excepción.
Duramente se nos hace a los
padres reconocer cuando nuestros
hijos están creciendo, mucho más
cuando estos comienzan a buscar su
propio horizonte. A veces entramos
en una etapa de negación.

When you pray, know that God
will take very seriously the words
that you pronounce with your
mouth. I know this by my own
experience.
The month of July last year a
morning I prayed to God and I said
“I want to work for you, spread your
message, take out of my life everything that doesn’t let me, open
roads, I am willing to everything”.
The month of August marked the
beginning of the new scholar year
and I was very glad and with many
expectations of what would happen
with the grade I was in charge of. I
was prepared, had worked many
hours so that everything would be
ready and with joy I began my function. For my surprise the things did
not walked as expected. Conflicts,
problems, tears; followed by my
resignation with only two weeks of
class.

and invited my near friendships. Little by little the group began to grow
and God put in my heart sending reflections based on its Word to all the
members. After I send one message
to the members of the group, one

What happened? I do not understand. Why? These were the questions repeated in my mind day

A esto añado la palabra profética que recibí ese mismo mes
de agosto donde Dios me decía
que mi ministerio tomaría alas.
El mes de julio del pasado año una
mañana oré a Dios y le dije “quiero
trabajar para ti, deseo llevar tu mensaje, quita de mi vida todo aquello
que no permita que lo haga, abre
camino, estoy dispuesta a todo”.
Comenzó el nuevo año y me
uno a los muchos que usan el
“Facebook” para comunicarse
con sus amistades. Es compartiendo
con una amiga el milagro que Dios
había hecho en mi hija Soleil y ella
compartiendo conmigo el que Dios
había hecho con su hijo que nace
en mi corazón usar este recurso de
“Facebook” para declarar los milagros del Señor.
El mes de agosto marcaba el
comienzo del nuevo año escolar, yo
estaba muy alegre y con muchas
expectativas de lo que pasaría con
el grado que tendría a cargo. Estaba preparada, había trabajado
muchas horas para que todo estuviera en orden y con alegría comencé mi función. Para mi sorpresa las
cosas no marcharon como esperaba. Conflictos, problemas, lágrimas,
seguido por la renuncia en tan solo
las dos primeras semanas de clase.
¿Qué pasó? No entiendo. ¿Por qué?
Esto era lo que repetía en mi mente
día y noche. Ahora me enfrentaba
a mi nueva realidad (situación momentánea) estar en casa cuando
mi mente se había preparado para
otra cosa. Añado a esto el enfermarme físicamente, sentirme sin
rumbo y sola en muchas ocasiones
y el que muchos no entendieran el
proceso por el que pasaba y juzgaran.

Cuando ores ten la seguridad de
que Dios toma muy en serio las palabras que salen de tu boca. Esto lo
digo por experiencia propia.
¿Qué si oraba? Mucho y clamaba
desde lo más profundo de mi corazón mucho mas. Pasé meses guardada, en intimidad, a solas con Dios,
estudiando su palabra y buscando
su dirección. Sus mensajes eran claros. “Bástate mi gracia porque mi
poder se perfecciona en medio de
tu debilidad” (2 Cor 12:8); “Yo sé los
pensamientos que tengo para ustedes, planes de bienestar y no de
maldad, a fin de darles un futuro y
una esperanza” (Jer 29:11); “Dios dispone todas las cosas para el bien
de quienes lo aman” (Rom 8:28) ;
“Quédense quietos, reconozcan
que yo soy Dios” (Sal 46:10) Cuantas
hermosas palabras e instrucciones.
Así, para el mes de febrero creo el
grupo Todavía Dios hace milagros…
tengo la evidencia. Compartí mi
testimonio en la página e invité a
unirse a mis amistades cercanas.
Poco a poco el grupo comenzó a
crecer y Dios puso en mi corazón
el enviar reflexiones basadas en su

A Congenital Heart Defect
(CHD) is a defect in the structure of the heart and great
vessels of a newborn.
They result when a mishap occurs
during heart development soon
after conception and often before
the mother is aware that she is pregnant. Defects range in severity from
simple problems, such as “holes”
between chambers of the heart,
to very severe malformations, such
as complete absence of one or
more chambers or valves. Most
heart defects either obstruct blood
flow in the heart or vessels near it
or cause blood to flow through the
heart in an abnormal pattern.
For the year 2006 CHD was
affecting approximately one (1)
in every hundred twenty five (125)
babies born. These numbers raised
alarmingly on the year 2007 to
one (1) in every eighty five (85),
congenital heart defects are the

(and, when hypoplasia affects the
right side of the heart, a patent
foramen ovale) is vital to the infant’s
ability to survive until emergency
heart surgery can be performed,
since without these pathways blood
cannot circulate to the body (or
lungs, depending on which side of
the heart is defective). Hypoplasia
of the heart is generally a cyanotic
heart defect.
Obstruction defects
Obstruction defects occur when
heart valves, arteries, or veins are
abnormally narrow or blocked.
Common
obstruction
defects
include pulmonary valve stenosis,
aortic valve stenosis, and coarctation of the aorta, with other
types such as bicuspid aortic valve
stenosis and subaortic stenosis being
comparatively rare. Any narrowing
or blockage can cause heart
enlargement or hypertension.
Septal defects
The septum is a wall of tissue which
separates the left heart from the
right heart. It is comparatively
common for defects to exist in the
interatrial septum or the interventricular septum, allowing blood to
flow from the left side of the heart
to the right, reducing the heart’s efficiency. Ventricular septal defects
are collectively the most common
type of CHD, although approxi-

Cyanotic defects
Cyanotic heart defects are called
such because they result in cyanosis,
a bluish-grey discoloration of the
skin due to a lack of oxygen in the
body. Such defects include persistent truncus arteriosus, total anomalous pulmonary venous connection, tetralogy of Fallot, transposition
of the great vessels, and tricuspid
atresia.

estructura del corazón o en
los grandes vasos de un recién
nacido.
Resultan
cuando una desgracia
ocurre durante el desarrollo del
corazón pronto después de la
concepción y a menudo antes de
que la madre conozca que ella está
embarazada. Los defectos se miden
en severidad desde problemas
simples, tales como “agujeros” entre
los compartimientos del corazón, a
las malformaciones muy severas,

condition that promote CHD but they
know how to prevent it:
•Avoid Alcohol and drugs during pregnancy
•Inmunize Against Rubella (if you’re not)
•Check Your Blood Levels especially if
you have diabetes.
•Consult your doctor before taking any
street or over-the-counter drugs.
•Tell your doctor if there is any heart
condition in your family.
•A good prenatal care is essential. Get an
obtetrician.
•Many congenital defects can be discovered on routine ecocardiogram examinations performed by an obstetrician.
This last point is optional, we don’t know
why it is not a normal prenatal test procedure yet knowing that CHD is the #1
cause of death.

for the exposition of their music and to

it to the service of God, allowing them
to share scenes with outstanding artists
within Christian and secular means”.
They prefer to maintain the names
of the groups for them b e cause would only create
an ego they say: “and

deserves honor and
glory is called Jesus”.

from my music, of what I do, Is that
I give the Glory to God, and that’s

when you listen to the music
we play in the Club or in the
CD your are listening to music
that is anointed, played by
Christian musicians. So our goal
is to show God through our
music.

René González, Samuel Hernández,
Orquesta Ebenezer, entre muchos

Este hombre joven talentoso está
llevando la música cristiana a otro
nivel. Con su estilo único, hace que
cualquiera se mueva al ritmo del
jazz latino.
Durante los últimos años la música
de jazz ha ganado mucho territorio
entre diversas edades. Entre ellos
el jazz latino, que considero el más
exquisito. Incluso aquí en los Estados
Unidos el jazz latino se ha convertido
en un movimiento grande. De los
Jazz Clubs hasta estaciónes de
radio este fenómeno musical está
ganando una posición de prestigio
en la comunidad de la música. Sutil
para todos los oídos, este estilo está
obteniendo el lugar que merece.
Anthony, junto con sus amigos,
han decidio producir sus propios
proyectos y pro lo que formaron una
banda llamada Poetology, pero no
es hasta la segunda producción
que eligen utilizar el nombre de la
banda en el proyecto.
Cuando más joven, Anthony fue
introducido al pianista de Marc
Anthony, Juan A. González, el cual
le enseñó algunas técnicas y estilos
de diversos tipos de música. A sus 18
años él participó con orquestas de
música como Ebenezer y Xiaris, Ray
y Nelson Colón, solistas tales como
René González, Samuel Hernández
y Ezequiel Colón como mencionáramos anteriormente.

AR: Cuando era músico independiente toqué la Salsa Cristiana, Pop,
R&B y muchos otros estilos, pero
decidí tocar el jazz latino, no porque
no me gustan los otros estilos pues
me ayudó mucho para afinar mi
estilo, nunca rechazé las oportunidades y yo las disfruté; pero con jazz
puedo expresarme más a través del

Jay C: My name is Julio Carmelo,

Jay C: When I was 12 I began to

When I turned 16th I recognized
Christ like my rescuer, before simply
I wrote according to what I understood it was real. But God showed
a better life to me, full of opportunities.

urban music in Spanish were BK Rap,

primera vez que hablamos
me dí cuenta rápidamente
de su personalidad jovial y
sobretodo su amor por Dios. Un
joven agradecido a pesar de
la dura vida que le precedió.
Cuando cumplí mis 16 años yo
reconocí a Cristo como mi salvador,
antes simplemente yo escribía
según lo que yo entendía era real.
Pero Dios me mostró una mejor vida,
llena de oportunidades.
GTFN: ¿Quién es Jay C Cartier?
Jay C: Es un cantante con un ministerio en el campo de la música
urbana (Reggaetón, Rap y Hip-Hop)

No digo que soy pionero pues

Cartier?
Jay C: Mi nombre es Julio Carmelo,
por lo que en las primeras oportunidades y producciones se me
llamaba como J.C. Luego adopté
el nombre con la variante de Jay
C, y Cartier lo utilicé como un
adorno, dándole un toque lujoso,
pues sabemos de las prendas y el
auto, pues soy un fanático de los
carros también, que llevan el mismo
nombre, principalmente por el auto.
Es de donde sale Jay C Cartier,
como símbolo de excelencia para
nuestro Dios con un toqué urbano.
Tengo 10 años en el ministerio,
comencé trabajando con otros
cantantes como Manny Montes,
Big Willie y Otoniel (grupo de
Filadelfia). He participado en diferentes producciones, no solo de Rap
y Reggaetón, también en producciones de Salsa con el cantante
Eddie G, pastor en la ciudad de
Orlando. Compartí con el ministerio
Double Impact y con Omar Vélez,
con el que pensé como cantante
en pareja. Hoy en día me congrego
en la iglesia Pabellón de la Victoria
del Pastor Rubén Pérez, el cual ha
sido un padre para mí.
GTFN: ¿Cómo todo comenzó?
Jay C: Desde los 12 años comencé
a escribir mi música cuando el
Reggaetón era simplemente un
estilo de la calle. Luego el Señor me
transformó y fue cambiando la letra
de mi música, de un punto de vista
negativo y destructivo a uno espiritual y de vida.
GTFN: ¿Cuál tú sientes que es
el Llamado Principal de Jay C
Cartier?
Jay C: Es demostrar al mundo como
Dios puede lograr con nosotros
grandes cosas a pesar de las circunstancias.

EL INVICTO
Yo nací en Rio Piedras, PR y fui
criado en Bayamón. Mis padres se
movieron a la ciudad de Nueva
York cuando era infante. Volví a
PR a mis 3 años pues mis padres se
separaron; lo que llevó a mi padre
a moverse para PR junto conmigo.
A mis 7 años sufrí la pérdida de mi
padre como consecuencia de la
ola criminal que arropaba a esta
pequeña isla. Es entonces que mi
abuela de parte de mi papá, la cual
siempre llamaré Mamá, se hace
cargo de mí, pues mi madre nunca
más apareció. La muerte de mi
padre mi abuela la sufrió muchísimo
provocando; que su condición de
diabetes la consumiera. A mis 14
años mi abuela partió con el Señor,
el 1ro de Octubre de 1996.
Es cuando mis tíos, Ángel Luis Arroyo
y su esposa Wanda de Jesús, los
únicos que le servía a Cristo en la
familia de mi padre, se hicieron
cargo de mí. Me llevaron a vivir al

muy difícil para mí, pues no me acostumbraba al estilo de vida. Pero con
la ayuda de Dios he podido sobre
salir. Hoy soy padre de un niño...

1998 were the beginning for the
flamenco group “Alabastro”. Elsa
Peña and her friend Rocío sing their
incomparable music in the local
churches from the south of Spain.
Then Paco Peña, brother of Elsa,
was invited by them to formalize
the group, because they were in
the need to add a guitar, percussions and a masculine voice that
at the same time give a little counseling and contributed to them
composing music. Paco on the
other hand performed like soloist
and composer in the church where
they are congregated, Asamblea

of our land, with flamencas guitars,
palms,
percussions;
expressing
the passion that we felt by God,
showing the world the way, the truth
and the life, and to give advice
from our own life experience. The
result was so good, that we have
had the privilege to cross great part
of our country and also the opportunity to travel by diverse countries like
Miami, Orlando, Tampa, Puerto Rico
and others. Where our music had the
opportunity to shine, also we had the
privilege that our music reached the
lists of the Top Ten of different radio
stations and to remain #1 for several
weeks” - the group tells us.
It was in the second production that

El 1998 fue el comienzo del camino
para el grupo flamenco Alabastro.
Elsa Peña y su amiga Rocío cantan

Entonces Paco Peña, hermano de
Elsa, fue invitado por ellas para
formalizar el grupo, pues se vieron
en la necesidad de añadir guitarra,
percusión y una voz masculina que
al mismo tiempo les orientara un

temas. Paco por su parte compartía
como solista y compositor en la
iglesia donde se congregan, Asamblea Cristiana en Jerez de la Frontera, Cádiz, España.

flamenco. Unieron ideas e inquietudes, comenzaron a componer

known the urgency to change the religion life
