MEMORIES AND DREAMS
Throughout our lives, we retain the language
and habits of our native region and family of origin.
Should we return to our home after a long absence, we quickly revert to its familiar speech and
practices. Our deep memory is reflected in old stories and
words and speech patterns. This familiarity runs like an
underground river and accompanies us wherever we go.
Not only do we remember, we are incorporated into
and made part of a greater memory. In remembering and
recollecting, we are in turn gathered up and re-collected.
Today we remember Mary, a small figure travelling
the country roads to visit Elizabeth. All the great pronouncements and dreams of the prophets point to this
time when the Lord’s words to Mary would be gathered
and fulfilled. The memories of her people are alive in her,
and memories of her nourish our own living faith. Copyright ©

En el curso de nuestra vida mantenemos el idioma y los hábitos de nuestra región nativa y familia de origen. Cuando retornamos a nuestro
hogar tras una larga ausencia, rápidamente volvemos a su manera de hablar y a sus prácticas
familiares. Nuestros profundos recuerdos se reflejan en

No solamente recordamos, sino que somos incorporados y formamos parte de una memoria más amplia. Cuando traemos recuerdos a la mente somos a la vez reunidos

Hoy recordamos a María, una joven frágil, que recorre
zonas rurales para visitar a Isabel. Todos los grandes pronunciamientos y sueños de los profetas apuntan a este
tiempo en que deben cumplirse las palabras del Señor a
María. Las memorias de su pueblo están vivas en ella, y

Blessing of a Nativity Scene
(from Household Blessings & Prayers)
To foster remembering that “the reason for the season” is the
birth of Jesus, it is recommended that each household take
time to bless the Christmas manger or nativity scene on the
Vigil of Christmas or at another suitable time on Christmas Day.
It is appropriate that it be blessed by a parent or another family member.
All make the sign of the cross as the leader says:
Leader: Our help is in the name of the Lord.
R/. Who made heaven and earth.
One of those present or the leader reads Luke 2:1-8:
Listen to the words of the holy Gospel according to Luke:
In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus
that the whole world should be enrolled. This was the first
enrollment, when Quirinius was governor of Syria. So all
went to be enrolled, each to his own town. And Joseph too
went up from Galilee from the town of Nazareth to Judea, to
the city of David that is called Bethlehem, because he was of
the house and family of David, to be enrolled with Mary, his
betrothed, who was with child.
While they were there, the time came for her to have her
child, and she gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped
him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger, because
there was no room for them in the inn.
Now there were shepherds in that region living in the fields
and keeping the night watch over their flock.

Ensure a safe road trip this holiday
Taking the kids on a road trip to visit relatives and
friends is a holiday tradition for many of us. Here
are two tips that can help you get there and back as
safely as possible:
1. Ensure that all occupants of any vehicles are
properly secured and that there are no large or
heavy items in the vehicle that may injure the occupants at
any sudden stops.
2. A single parent travelling with children should ensure
that permission from the other parent is readily available for
authorities (this is to prevent one parent abductions). This is
especially important for air/train or cross border travel.

Para recordarnos que “El motivo de las fiestas de esta temporada” es el nacimiento de Jesús, se recomienda que cada
hogar se de tiempo para bendecir el Nacimiento de casa en la
vigilia de la Navidad, o en otro momento apropiado el día de

Garantice un viaje seguro este día de fiesta
Llevar a los niños en un viaje para visitar a familiares y amigos es una tradición navideña para

Murder Mystery – January 27th
Our Murder Mystery has not been canceled just rescheduled
for Sunday, January 27th. Please mark your calendars for a
late morning brunch and a chance to solve "The Mafia Murder!"
Project Hospitality 2013 needs your help
From February 1st through February 21st, Saint Cyril
Parish will provide some of the comforts of home to
seven homeless men who are working to get back on
their feet. These men come to us from several social
service agencies in Tucson that refer them to the
congregationally hosted Project Hospitality Program.
Many volunteers will be needed to provide wholesome meals, safe and clean shelter and companionship for
our guests. Volunteers will serve as over-night hosts, dinner
cooks, breakfast cooks, shoppers, laundry helpers, and coordinators. Volunteer sign-ups will take place after the Masses
on Saturday, January 12 and Sunday, January 13. Mark your
calendars.
Please join your fellow St. Cyril parishioners in this very
rewarding opportunity to put your Christian faith into action.

Proyecto Hospitalidad necesita su ayuda
Del 1° al 21 de febrero, la Parroquia de San Cirilo proporcionará
algunas comodidades del hogar a siete hombres sin hogar
que están tratando de mejorar su situación. Estos señores nos llegan de varias agencias de servicio social en
Tucsón que los recomiendan al programa del Proyecto
Hospitalidad de la congregación.
Se necesitarán muchos voluntarios para servir a nuestros huéspedes comidas saludables, refugio seguro y limpio y compañerismo. Los voluntarios servirán como anfitriones
