Managing Editor
Welcome to the July/August issue of
Quantum Health
magazine!
A
s you may know, Quantum Health has
spun off a sister publication, Choice
Point, a free monthly ezine that is
directed at the general public and
whose focus is transformational living. Quantum
Health returns to its original intent of providing
information to healthcare practitioners, especially
those in complementary and alternative medicine
(CAM) and integrative medicine, although we trust
the informed general public will also find value in
our offerings.
I will take over from Trina Hart as managing editor
of Quantum Health, which will be published
bimonthly, with content that includes CAM
modalities, technologies and therapies; emerging
science and technology; frontier science theory;
and more.
We will occasionally offer special issues that focus
on a specific topic, therapy, scientific discipline or
theory, or geographic region. In this issue,
we highlight bioenergetics in Germany, which
has always been a leader in frontier science and
CAM clinical practice. We are delighted to bring
you interviews with some of Germany’s top
researchers and thinkers in biophoton and
biodynamics research.

Alexander Popp brings us up to date with what’s
happening at the prestigious Fritz Popp Institute,
which is at the centre of biophoton research—
the study of light in the body. One of the
especially interesting developments he explains
is the new regulation diagnostic device he is testing
at the Institute.
Marco Bischof—a true renaissance man with
an extensive range of knowledge, an insatiable
inquisitiveness, and a sparkling mind and creative
spirit—speaks eloquently on a broad range of
subjects concerning consciousness, energy and
information fields, bioenergetics and biophotons,
and more.
Dr. Folker Meissner does double duty in this issue—
an interview about the many German research
institutes he either directs or works with and an
article about his thriving holistic medical clinic and
his use of the NES ProVision.
If you have topics you would like to see covered or if
you would like to contribute to Quantum Health,
I invite you to contact me at

Mainstream Meets
Alternative in the US
New research has revealed that in the United
States, which has been slow to accept mindbody and complementary and alternative (CAM)
therapies, conventional health professionals are
referring their patients to CAM practitioners
at ever-increasing rates. ScienceDaily (May
11, 2011) reports that a new study from Beth
Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard
Medical School found that 1 in 30 people
using mind-body therapies, such as yoga and
meditation among other modalities, are referred
by their conventional primary care physicians or
healthcare providers.
Dr. Aditi Nerurka, an Integrative Medicine Fellow
at Harvard and part of the study team, says,
“There’s good evidence to support using mindbody therapies clinically. Still, we didn’t expect
to see provider referral rates that were quite so
high.” Her team used 2007 statistics to determine
that more than 6.3 million Americans had been
referred by conventional medical professionals
to CAM practitioners. She also notes, however,
that patients were usually referred only as a
last resort, once conventional therapies had
proved useless. Nerurka said that she and the
other team members can only “wonder whether
referring patients for these therapies earlier in the
treatment process could lead to less use of the
health care system and, possibly, better outcomes
for these patients.”

The online science site ScienceDaily
reports on a study that claims to
have revealed why so many autistic
people appear to have extraordinary
visual capabilities, even though these
capabilities may contribute to their being
inundated by what’s going on around
them in the world.
Researchers at the University of
Montreal’s Centre for Excellence in
Pervasive Developmental Disorders
report that the brains of people with
autism show heightened activity in visual
centres correlated to visual detection
and identification, to the detriment of
other areas of the brain known to control
planning, thoughts and actions.
The study collected data from more than
300 autistic individuals and collated
additional data from more than 250 brain
imaging studies conducted over 15 years.
One of the researchers said, “The stronger
engagement of the visual system,
whatever the task, represents the first
physiological confirmation that enhanced
perceptual processing is a core feature of
neural organization in this population.
We now have a very strong statement
about autism functioning which may be
grounds for cognitive accounts of autistic
perception, learning, memory
and reasoning.”

Diabetics’ Eyes
Hold Clue to
Nerve Health
New Scientist (March 26-April 1, 2011) reports
that a new eye test might soon help diabetics
know if they are at risk for nerve damage and
its often insidious physical damage, including
the loss of limb sensation, which can necessitate
amputation. Previous tests have been invasive,
such as nerve and tissue biopsies. But the new
eye test developed by Australian researchers can
detect the signs of nerve damage by examining
the cornea. They discovered that microscopic
analysis of the corneas of diabetics who have
or are developing nerve damage show a lower
density of nerve fibres and the nerves are shorter
than those in the corneas of healthy control
subjects. UK researchers have recently developed
software to scan the cornea to analyze nerve
density, and the hope is that signs of nerve
changes can be detected early and any potential
damage stopped or treated. The cornea scan
is currently being used in several hospitals and
the research team is presenting papers about it
at professional conferences to get the word out
about this promising test.

A growing number of pregnant women are
benefitting from CAM modalities. Dr. Jon Adams,
Executive Director of the Network of Researchers
in the Public Health of Complementary and
Alternative Medicine (NORPHCAM) and associate
professor at the University of Queensland in
New Zealand, reports on a review of referrals
of pregnant women to CAM therapies. The
review was conducted by members of that
organization, who are also affiliated with the
University of Queensland, and covered nineteen
studies reporting on more than 3,000 maternity
professionals—from obstetricians to midwives—
from seven countries who were interviewed
between 1999 and 2009, with most conducted
within the last five years. Some of the results
include:
• Of 227 American midwives interviewed, 78
percent used some form of CAM therapy and 89
percent said they would refer a patient to a CAM
therapist.
Issue 12 July/August 2011
• Of 343 midwives in Canada and New
Zealand, 72 percent had made CAM referrals.
The most common modalities patients were
referred to included (in descending order of
most referrals) homeopaths, acupuncturists,
naturopaths, chiropractors, massage therapists,
and osteopaths.
• In Germany, of 381 obstetric departments
surveyed, 380 had referred patients to at least
one CAM modality, with acupuncture being the
most common referral, followed by homeopathy
and aromatherapy.
• In the US, 98 percent of all obstetricians
queried said they “routinely” refer patients to
CAM practitioners, with “movement therapies”
being the most common referral, followed by
biofeedback and acupuncture.
• Overall, across all surveyed populations,
two of the most common CAM modalities most
subject to referrals were herbalism and “mindbody interventions.”

Body of Light:
Biophotons and Health
An interview with Alexander Popp
By Sarah Turner
Q
Would you start by giving
background to all the things you
are involved in because I know there
is the Popp Institute and Quantica and
Quantica TV, but I am just not sure
how it all fits together.
AP: Quantica makes available research from the
Fritz Popp Institute, which does research in the
field of biophotons, water and many other things.
Quantica also funds the Institute for
that research.
Q
Please give our readers a bit
of background about yourself
and how you became involved in the
biophoton work.
Alexander Popp is a researcher at the Fritz
Popp Institute in Germany. Fritz-Albert Popp,
considered by many to be the “father of
biophoton research” is Alexander’s father, and is
now largely retired from the Institute. Biophotons
are ultraweak light emissions from the cells of
living organisms, including humans. Research
from the Fritz Popp Institute and from other
researchers who have since taken up the banner
show that biophotons play a major role in the
regulation of the body and in health. I caught
up with Alexander Popp recently to talk with
him about the state of biophoton research. This
interview has been edited for length and for
English syntax.
www.quantumhealthmagazine.com
AP: Okay. After my education as a dental
technician, my father called for me to come
work at the Institute. Previously, I had spent a
lot of time at the Institute, helping out. After my
education, my father said, ‘Okay, now you can
come to my place and work with us together on
a special device, called the regulation diagnostic.’
That was eight years ago.
I started on the regulation diagnostic device.
It was hard for normal people to understand
how it worked, so I started to make some
calculations and other things and do some tests
in an experimental way to see for myself about
the regulation diagnostic and what it did. It is a
tool for looking to see if someone is healthy or
Quantum Health 9
Quantum
Issue 12 July/August 2011
HEALTH
unhealthy. Using it, I could see there were strong
correlations between the biophoton emission of
the body and the measurements taken by the
regulation diagnostic. There is no other device
which can really show if your body is ‘regulated’
or not.
Q
We need to back up a bit and
explain some of this. Let’s start
with biophotons, the ultraweak light
emissions from cells. Explain more
about what they are and a bit about this
research for our readers who aren’t
familiar with it
AP: My father, Fritz-Albert Popp, started this
biophoton research more than thirty years
ago, with his PhD work. He was looking for
the difference between benzyl(a)pyrene and
benzyl(e)pyrene [polycyclic hydrocarbons]. One
of them is carcinogenic although both of their
chemical structures are virtually the same. He
discovered that the only difference between
them is how they interact with UV light. The
benzyl[a]pyrene is carcinogenic because the light
that comes into it is changed before it is emitted
again. The other one doesn’t change light in
the process of light absorption and emission. He
was presenting this finding at a conference for
oncologists, and they told him it was crazy. They
said that must mean light is being emitted by cells,
and he said yes, and they thought he was crazy.
He kept exploring this. He found that there was
someone in the past who had thought about
this—this is the founder of this area of study,
Alexander Gurwitsch. He was a biologist who
discovered that cell growth is dependent on light
in the UV range. He made some experiments
with onions in which he showed microscopically
that when two onion roots grow together, the
ones that were grown in a glass that stops UV
light had only half the amount of cell separation.
When the glass let through UV light, the cells
grew faster. Cells division and growth seemed
10 Quantum Health
to depend on light. He thought that light was
providing information to the roots to increase
cell division, and he called this mitogenetic cell
radiation. So this was really the start of the study
of the radiation of photons, which suggested that
photons were needed to make some chemical
reactions within the cell.
In 1950, there was an Italian astronomer who
was trying to find and study stars that were very
far away, and he needed to find a way to make
them visible, and he invented a technology to
do that [to detect their very weak light]. Then
that device was used by others to look at plants,
and they discovered that plants emit light very
strongly. This was a very surprising effect. No
one knew what to do with this finding. Then
in the 1970’s as my father was doing his PhD
work, he found out about the work of this
astronomer and of Alexander Gurwitsch and
he saw that maybe these were possible answers
for his findings about how benzyl(a)pyrene and
benzyl(e)pyrene use light that changes one into
a poison. Because of the astronomer’s device,
he also asked a PhD student working with him if
he could build a similar device that would detect
light coming from cells. This student said that he
did not believe light could be in cells, and could
be emitted by them. He said it was impossible for
that to be true.
Q
Why was that idea so improbable?
Why do you think people wouldn’t
expect that cells emit light?
AP: He didn’t believe it! It was impossible for
him to understand that it could be so, and so
my father asked him if he could build a device
which would prove that light did not come out of
cells. So this student, Bernhard Ruth, built such a
device; however, it showed light coming out from
[the cells of] potatoes! There was a very high
level of photon emissions. So my father got the
practical proof that photons are in cells. This was
the beginning of it all.
www.quantumhealthmagazine.com
Quantum
Issue 12 July/August 2011
Since then, we have found out a lot about what
light does. Max Planck [one of the fathers of
quantum physics] showed that light contains
energy and information. Light sends information
and energy to an atom and as a result the
atom changes its condition. The atom reacts
to light. Light makes electrons jump up to a
higher state. Light causes a vibration and this
vibration can change the atom’s condition so
that this atom connects to other atoms, and in
that way molecules are formed. Light changes
the condition of atoms so they can connect
and create molecules—and this is dependent
on water. Water is the substance of life. It can
change the chemical structure of life. So what we
see is that both light and water influence cells.
Q
The light in cells is special, in that
it’s coherent light, right?
AP: Yes, it must be coherent light. Coherent
means that biophotons have a high order. The
order is so strong that other things that come
into the influence of this light also become
ordered. For example, researchers at the
University of California-Berkeley found out that
plants need quantum coherence to be able to
photosynthesize; without using processes that
are quantum coherent photosynthesis is not
explainable.
Light does two things in the body: it changes
the condition of the atoms for the order of the
system and it transfers information between the
cells. We have 100,000 reactions per second
in each cell. These reactions must be activated
by a process that works much faster than
enzymes can. Only light can do that—provide
the information to coordinate 100,000 reactions
in each cell per second! Light is also used by
the body to make order, a special kind of order.
Erwin Schrödinger has a theory that said that
the human body is in a chaotic state and tries
second by second to become more ordered.
Schrödinger asked a question that was very
important to biologists: How is it possible that
www.quantumhealthmagazine.com
HEALTH
100,000 processes can happen every second
in a cell during mitosis without any mistakes?
No biologist had an answer until our current
time. My father’s biophoton work provides the
answer, because light has the ability to give cells
the information they need and put them in the
condition to perform these 100,000 processes
without mistakes.
Q
Is there a similarity here to James
Oschman’s living matrix theory,
which talks about the information grid
in the body? That instead of the nervous
system or the hormonal system powering
the matrix, light is powering it?
AP: Light is providing the information to the
electron, which is why electrons can switch
so fast. Everything vibrates, and the special
frequency of light provides information for
vibrations. If the atom is vibrating, the electron
has to jump state to change the condition of
the atom. Everything is connected. The electron
vibration is overlaid on the atom’s vibration, and
the atom’s vibration connects to other things
with the same vibration, so they communicate
with each other. This is how the world creates
itself. And photons are the information givers.
Without light it is impossible for anything to
happen. Light forms life. Atoms need light to
form molecular structures.
Q
How does the external
environment have an effect on
the body, UV light and manmade
electromagnetic fields and that sort of
thing?
AP: What we found is that we could measure
light between 200 and 800 nanometres with
photomultipliers. This is the visible light range
and some of the UV range and infrared range.
It’s interesting that the higher the frequency into
the infrared range, the faster the vibration, for
example you can see a thermal change on the
body using an infrared camera. It shows you how
Quantum Health 11
Quantum
Issue 12 July/August 2011
HEALTH
high the vibrations are of the different atoms. You
can see evidence of some diseases. For example, if
there’s a very cold part of the body, okay there’s
not much energy there, not a lot of thermal
energy there, which is needed by the body
because of the circulation.
There must be a very harmonic state in the body.
So, we can take a look at the range of 200 to
800 nanometres, which is in the range from the
very low frequency to the high frequency like
infrared, and this is connected to sunlight and
to the complete visible light range. . . . We know
that sunlight, the coherent light of the sun, is
directly connected to the surface of the cell. So it
can affect the cell’s vibration. This is in the visible
light range. It’s also called the coherence theory,
the Van Cittert-Zernike theorem, which describes
the coherence of biological systems and shows
correlations in size to light. We are a certain
distance from the sun, there is a certain distance
between the cells of our bodies and the sun, and
so we have a certain size and form. You asked
before why these discoveries about light and
biophotons were so surprising to conventional
biologists. The answer is that biologists are only
looking at the molecular structure, and they don’t
really ask why is there a structure, what forms it,
or what is giving the information.
Q
Do you think that is where biology
is going? That conventional
biologists have to look at biodynamics
like this to answer their questions?
AP: They have to! For example, they found out
recently about the placebo—that if you give it as
a placebo [with people knowing they are getting
a placebo instead of believing they are not] it
also works! They have to consider consciousness.
There are some explanations about consciousness
or awareness or trust that apply to health.
And that connects to light. There is no other
explanation about how consciousness can work
except light. And so they have to look in that
direction to get explanations about living systems.
Nothing else is possible.
12 Quantum Health
And we have very strong fluctuations in the
body. For example, look at blood pressure. We
know from studies in the field of chronobiology
that you need thirty measurements of blood
pressure at different times and under different
conditions—stressed, relaxed—to get a real
result, to determine if someone has high blood
pressure. We don’t know a lot about our
biodynamics. We are all different. We found out
with the regulation diagnostic RD144 device
that we need to take measurements at 1,000
points to determine statistical significance! We
found out that in the biological rhythm there
is a ten percent deviation on both the low and
high ranges during one day and only within the
resistance of the skin. Everyone has a bit different
biodynamic.
I think that over time doctors are opening more
and more to these fields, such as the biophotonic
field, because they don’t know how the body
works really, and what is behind what they do
know. It’s very important for our society that
we start to look in new directions, not only the
molecular direction, which is important for the
emergency situations, but in other directions too.
If I have a ruptured appendix, I would not run to
a healer, I would go to a doctor. But I would also
look to preventative medicine to make sure things
don’t happen in the first place. Complementary
medicine is very important to look at, before
something happens and even after, to sustain
health again.
Q
While we are on the subject of
preventive medicine, what do you
do and what would you suggest that
people do to keep themselves in the best
health?
AP: Get more into their minds! Get more
conscious! It’s very important because if you are
conscious with yourself and your environment,
you see the world more realistically. You get
more into the real things and then you can feel if
something is happening in your body or not.
www.quantumhealthmagazine.com
Quantum
Issue 12 July/August 2011
We have ten million cells that are dying every
second in our body and ten million that are
growing every second. It changes with age. As I
get older, more cells are dying. If I am younger,
more cells are growing. . . . Every second this
is happening. Every second, maybe, if I am
conscious, I can have an influence on these
reactions and to what happens in my body. We
have calculated this—if you think every second
in a positive way, you need one and a half years
to change your complete system, to change
it in a positive way that is absolutely healthy.
In the mean, without the standard deviation,
some cells live longer, such as liver cells, while
some of our cells live a very short time, such as
skin cells. So we have to start to think more in
a positive direction, but to see also the negative
things. Both are very important. We have to get
more into a harmonic state. If we don’t see the
negative things we run blind.
We also have to get more conscious to realize
what we are doing with nature. . . . I see that
we do not respect nature. Nature respects us,
but we don’t respect nature. Conscious means
connection. It means trust and love and health
and all the things which bring us together. It
is very important that we start to get more
responsible. I am happy to see that there are
many revolutions in the world now, because that
means people are getting more conscious. They
see what is happening in the world and they see
how they are caught in our society sometimes
and they try to get free. I think this is a very
good way to see that we are going in the right
direction. And I hope that it goes further.
For sure it will be more involved because of the
technical equipment, the information—you
can get information very quickly through the
Internet. . . .We are on Skype, we are talking
through electromagnetic fields! We built up a
new way of being conscious; it’s another kind
of consciousness! We tried to get connected
to each other, and this is what we are doing.
www.quantumhealthmagazine.com
HEALTH
. . . It’s another frequency. But we get it more
through the unconscious. We didn’t really see
consciously that we are all connected—that we
are all one in that way. And this is also shown in
the studies of the Princeton Engineering Research
Anomalies Laboratory or Roger Nelson with his
Global Consciousness research project—he shows
absolutely that we are connected to each other.
If something happens [on the world stage], the
devices [random number generators] change—
through our consciousness there is an effect upon
the material world. So, we know that we can
influence our environment.
As we start to become more conscious, we will
more consciously connect to each other. The
growth of the Internet, for example, shows that
we want to be connected to each other. That’s
wonderful, but really when I am talking to a
computer, I am not talking to a human being,
in relation with another human being. It is my
computer I am in relation with really. The more
we are connected through the Internet—sitting in
front of a computer and talking to a computer—
the more we can lose our humanity. You see?
Q
Do you think there is bit of a
backlash against this information
technology? That people want to get
back together again but that we have
lost a little bit too?
AP: Yes, we have lost a little bit. And you see
illness states increasing—because we are not
getting fit! Our task is to get perfect! This is
what our evolution has given us for life, what
drives life. It tries to get in order. If we sit there,
not doing sports or healthy things, we get worse,
and we see illness—autoimmune illness for
example. You can see it more and more. When
we are at our computers, dealing only with
machines—there is no interface between us and
machines. We have only a very small effect on
them—we can change things in the machine, but
it’s very, very low-level change. But I can change
Quantum Health 13
Quantum
Issue 12 July/August 2011
HEALTH
other people much better, with my intuition,
with my charisma for example. Charisma for
me is the information I give to another person
through electromagnetic fields! Everything must
have electromagnetic fields, because everything is
made from light and light is electromagnetic. So
there is an influence to everything in my life.
My environment—this is the question you
asked before—my environment also has photon
emissions. Our bodies have photon emissions.
Something like five to ten photons per second
per square centimeter. For example, a plant has
an emission of ten thousand photons per second
per square centimeter, so they have a very high
emission. Why do people think we don’t have an
influence with our environment? We are always
influenced by our environment.
My father talked about ‘potential information,’
which is all the information in a state at any given
time. It is there as potential, and it becomes real
when we realize it. Like if I toss a coin and ask
the question, ‘Is it heads or tails?’. In the air, it is
both heads and tails—it is one bit of information.
But when it is lying in my hand, then it is one or
the other, heads or tails but not both. We only
are conscious of a little bit of all the potential
information. Many, many things are unconscious.
If we ask how much is conscious, it is only four
percent of all. Four percent! Ninety-six percent of
everything is unconscious for us. Our metabolism,
for example, is unconscious for us. We do not
know about it, we do not feel it usually, but we
are able to if we get more conscious. When we
get more conscious, then we are able to change
our lives.
14 Quantum Health
Q
What you are saying is that we are
in this field of potentiality and if
we get more conscious we can actually
change outcomes using our own
focused intention.
AP: Yes. We can change how we handle things
through our intention. I change my own
reality. Surely, there are some things which are
deterministic. For example, I cannot change this
water bottle through my mind. A water bottle
will be a water bottle and it will not change into
a wine bottle. It will not become something else.
But I can change the water that is in there. And
that’s what I mean. You can change biological
systems. And biological systems have very high
photon emissions sometimes and they can use
that information. It depends on you—what kind
of information you give it. It has a lot to do with
resonance principles. For example, if I go to a
business meeting thinking it will not be a good
meeting, I will not have a good meeting. If I
become conscious of what my feeling is about
the meeting, then I can change this feeling and
the reality of the meeting. I can go into the
meeting saying in my mind, ‘This will be a very,
very good meeting.’ Then you will see that the
meeting will probably be very good. In that way,
you are the creator of that reality.
Q
Let’s go back to the regulation
diagnostic device. Tell us more
about that.
AP: The regulation diagnostic is very useable
to see diseases. We take measurements of
the resistance of the skin and these can be
plotted to a distribution, with deviations. A
Log-normal distribution correlates to a more
ordered or coherent state in the body; a Gaussian
distribution of the measurements means you are
in an unordered, a more chaotic, state. It also
tells you something about disease. For example,
if you have a Log-normal distribution with the
regulation diagnostic that means you are in
www.quantumhealthmagazine.com
Quantum
Issue 12 July/August 2011
a relatively healthy state, but you also might
happen to have high blood pressure, and you
can know from this distribution that the blood
pressure problem is chronic because the body is
compensating through its regulation system. The
other way is, if you have a bad regulation system
or a chaotic state and you have high blood
pressure, it suggests that this is a short-term
problem. It may be stress, not a chronic disease.
Q
How does the regulation
diagnostic work though? What’s
the principle?
AP: With the regulation diagnostic, we measure
the resistance of the skin at one thousand points,
and we look at the distribution that results. If it’s
a logarithmic distribution or if the values show a
logarithmic distribution, I know that the body is
in coherence. Coherence means a special order,
where all cells know what the others are doing.
Every cell in the body has information from all
other cells. They use only the information that
they need and not what other cells need. This
connects to the DNA. We found out that this
special order in the body is very important. You
can take measurements on the inside of the
hand and also on the meridian points of the
resistance of the skin. It shows you the charge of
the cells. And cell charge depends on biophoton
emissions. If you have a high cell charge, you also
have a very high probability of finding photons
there because of constructive interference of
electromagnetic fields. This shows me the order
of my system. If I see I have a logarithmic order in
the body, I know it is in a high coherence state. If
I have a Gaussian distribution then it means that
my body is experiencing chaos and that means
the probability of getting ill is higher.

HEALTH
Q
Dr. Folker Meissner was showing
me this device and how it can be
used with the NES Health system—to
look to see whether the regulation
diagnostic system finds chaos or
coherence.
AP: Yes, you can use the regulation diagnostic
for looking at how well a treatment works and
how the treatment can be changed. You can see
directly by taking a measurement before and after
a treatment. It takes only ten minutes normally.
The body reacts very, very fast. When information
gets into the system, the body starts to get into
order, or not. The regulation diagnostic shows if
it is starting to get in order. Then you know if the
treatment is having an effect or not.
Q
Well, you’ve given us a lot of
information. It’s time to wrap
up. If our readers could take away any
message from the work you are doing
or what you are thinking about, what
would that be?
AP: My last message would be about Quantica.
Quantica is a company which makes available to
the public all the knowledge of the professors
on our scientific board, especially through a DVD
box we prepared of our Symposium from May. If
we have more knowledge, we can become more
conscious. Knowledge is the power for becoming
conscious. If we are more conscious, we can then,
through our knowledge, imagine new solutions
for the problems we have in our world.

Frontier Science:
Past, Present and Future
An Interview with

Germany, is a university lecturer,
independent scholar, science
writer and consultant in frontier
areas of science. He has studied cultural and
medical anthropology, comparative religion, and
psychology, among other subjects, and has a
PhD in Cultural Studies. He is among the leading
scholars in the field of emerging science and
holistic medicine in the German-speaking world.
He is author of Biophotons: The Light in Our

health, the ‘new medicine’ and the many fields
of emerging science both within Germany and
around the world.
16 Quantum Health
Germany is at the forefront of
biophysics and bioenergetics
research. Why do you think this is so?
Is there something special about the
German research mindset that opens
them to being pioneers in this area?
MB: First of all, I have to make some clarifications.
What you call biophysics and bioenergetics is
actually not what scientists consider conventional
biophysics and bioenergetics. Because in
science biophysics mainly is medical physics and
molecular biology and not what we are doing in
biophoton research. Biophoton research belongs
within biophysics, but if you ask a conventional
physicist he will probably not know about it, and
his understanding of biophysics will be quite
different. And the same with bioenergetics.
Conventional bioenergetics is something
completely different. It has to do with energy
transfer and the transformation of energy at the
cellular and molecular levels and has nothing to
do with the electromagnetic fields in the body
and things like that.
www.quantumhealthmagazine.com
Quantum
Issue 12 July/August 2011
Q
Well, explain these terms in
relation to frontier science.
MB: You could say we are dealing with nonconventional biophysics or a new field of
biophysics, which you could say is holistic
biophysics. And it is a biophysics not mainly
focused on the cellular or molecular levels,
although we are working on these levels also of
course. But it’s mainly the biophysics of the whole
system.
Q
And of fields. . .
MB: Yes, precisely. But you should not
emphasize this too much because, of course, this
is the new aspect of it. But it doesn’t mean we are
neglecting particles—the solid matter aspect. It’s
just complemented by the field aspect. And this
new biophysics is not based on classical physics,
but on quantum physics. It’s quite different from
what is taught in universities. And it’s also based
on non-equilibrium thermodynamics. Classical
thermodynamics is mainly about closed systems,
and non-equilibrium thermodynamics is about
open systems, which are far from equilibrium.
This is best known in connection with the name
of Ilya Prigogine, who got a Nobel Prize for the
creation of non-equilibrium thermodynamics. The
word he uses is dissipative structures. Physics was
not able to understand living systems, because
they are very different from the kinds of systems
that classical physics studies, in that they are open
systems, which means that energy and matter
are flowing through these systems. Open systems
are not in thermodynamic equilibrium, which
means they have a high degree of order that can
only be maintained by this inflow of matter and
energy. That’s why we need to eat, why we need
sunlight, and so on. And this makes them also
highly sensitive to even weak stimuli.
www.quantumhealthmagazine.com
HEALTH
Q
Why do you think that classical,
conventional scientists are slow
to embrace these new concepts and
evidence?
MB: Well, you know, in science we talk about
physics as the lead science for all the other
sciences. For instance, everything concerning
biology is very far behind in what kind of physics
they have as a lead, and it has taken a long time
for biology to follow physics, to incorporate
the physical knowledge into their science, and
now they finally are doing that but physics itself
has advanced and gone somewhere else in the
meantime. That means that now biology must
catch up with what has been happening in
physics. And it has followed only a little what is
happening in quantum theory. Actually, what
is also apparent is that even in physics the real
consequences of quantum physics have only been
looked at in physics in the last ten years, because
before it was considered a purely philosophical
thing and was not interesting for physicists. They
use quantum physics as a method to calculate
molecules and so on, but the philosophical and
epistemological consequences of quantum theory
have only been looked at very recently.
Q
What breakthroughs have caused
this change in the last ten years?
MB: Well, I would say it was mainly the
controversy around David Bohm. David Bohm, a
physicist, like Einstein criticized quantum theory.
Einstein said that quantum theory was dealing
with ‘spooky effects’ that he didn’t want to
accept. And it is exactly these spooky effects that
Bohm criticized. When some people following
Bohm tried to test quantum theory with the
idea of proving it wrong, just the opposite
happened—they were able to prove that these
spooky effects not only exist but that they are
fundamental for physics. They also proved
so-called ‘entanglement,’ which was one of the
keys to the whole development.
Quantum Health 17
Quantum
Issue 12 July/August 2011
HEALTH
Q
So you think researchers in
Germany were quicker to take up
these theories than others?
MB: Before I answer that I would like to go
on a little bit more about the consequences
of quantum theory, because that’s very
fundamental. First of all, it’s holism. According to
quantum theory, reality can only be considered as
a seamless whole, or as holistic. Any other idea is
not scientific. That’s one of the most important
consequences. Connected to this is the concept
of non-locality, which has been proven by these
entanglement experiments. Non-locality means
that connectedness and wholeness are primary
compared to the aspect of solid matter and
separateness. This means that matter in the form
of particles are not the main basis of reality, in
terms of physics, but that connectedness, the
relationship between things, and holism are the
primary aspects of reality.
And in connection with this, of course, is also the
field aspect of reality, which is more fundamental
than the particle aspect. The basis of the
physical world now is the so-called ‘vacuum,’
which is a kind of universal field, which is not
an electromagnetic field. It’s more fundamental
than electromagnetic fields. It’s more a kind of
information field or a consciousness field, if you
want to use that term.
And this leads me to the last point about the
consequences of quantum theory, which is
that it is absolutely necessary to include
consciousness into the physical world view—
but not consciousness in the sense of individual
consciousness or in the sense of being conscious,
because it comprises also the so-called
‘unconscious,’ which is the consciousness
without having consciousness of consciousness!
Without reflective consciousness. And so that
means consciousness is not something that only
individuals have, but is a fundamental property of
the universe.
theory was developed in Germany. And what’s
very relevant here is that almost all the founders
of quantum theory studied Eastern philosophies
and religions. It’s not so well known, but [Erwin]
Schrödinger and [Werner] Heisenberg and others
were very, very interested in Eastern philosophies,
and Eastern philosophies have actually influenced
the development of quantum theory.
Q
Is that then the connection of
spirituality and this view of
consciousness as the underlying
fundamental part of reality?
MC: Yes, and that is exactly what’s happening
now in biophysics and clearly in medicine: the
new developments in these fields are very much
informed by Eastern philosophies. That’s where
they go beyond Western science in a way or
they have helped to enlarge or develop Western
science. Integrative medicine has as its starting
point the incorporation of non-Western medical
systems and theories. A consequence has been
that when Western science was looking at the
scientific basis of complementary medicine it has
had to question some of its own assumptions.
For instance, questions about the separateness of
consciousness and the body or about the biology
of solid matter or the existence of consciousness.
Biophoton research and other new fields of
biophysics have very much been informed by the
holistic view of reality, which has been influenced
by Eastern views. And what we can also observe
in science today is that disciplinary boundaries
are more or less dissolved. Most advanced fields
of science today are interdisciplinary. Look at
psychoneuroimmunology for example. Not only
does it incorporate many different disciplines of
science, but it also incorporates psychology and
sociology and so on.
So now I will go back to your question about
German researchers being quicker to embrace
these concepts. Fundamentally, it’s that quantum
18 Quantum Health

Quantum
Issue 12 July/August 2011
Q
It’s interesting to make the
jump from the micro world to
the macro world, because you have
sciences looking at either the very
small or the very large. Or, with a
field like sociology, they deal with the
relations between people. That’s often a
big leap to make, isn’t it?
MB: Well, it is, yes, and at the moment we can
see everywhere that this leap is actually being
made. I think many scientists have recognized
that even with producing all this wealth of
knowledge of a cellular and molecular nature,
they could not really arrive at understanding, for
instance, how the human organism works. So
they had to return to some ideas about whole
systems, which earlier in their sciences had
actually been present, but they got lost or it was
forgotten in the second half of the twentieth
century.
You know, it is very interesting, that this may also
be one of the reasons why Germany may be a bit
advanced in this field—because Germany has a
long tradition of holistic medicine. In the first half
of the twentieth century, Germany had developed
a holistic medicine that was not outside
conventional medicine. It was normal medicine,
taught in universities and medical schools. Only
around 1950 was this development stopped, due
to the rise of molecular biology and genetics.
Q
Do you think we are now
returning to a more holistic
approach, and not just in Germany?
MB: Yes. What is happening at the moment is
that molecular biology and genetics is coming
back to these earlier insights of holistic medicine.
As an example, I am working at the moment
on the history of the so-called ‘constitutional
thinking’ in the history of medicine, which
was very well developed in the first half of
the twentieth century in Germany and other
countries. There was a scientific basis for it. And
now molecular biology and genetics are coming
back to that even without knowing it. . . . They
www.quantumhealthmagazine.com
HEALTH
are coming back to what they call ‘personalized
medicine,’ such as finding genes for the individual
susceptibility for certain illnesses, which are
actually concepts of this earlier constitutional
medicine. ‘Constitutional’ means every person has
an individual bodily build but also an individual
physiological and psychological make-up that
provides certain propensities for certain illnesses.
So that’s what they are again finding out in
genetics and physiology. They are, of course, now
also working in an interdisciplinary way—
you now have psychological genetics and
behavioural genetics.
Q
And epigenetics [the study of
how the internal and external
environments influence the cells, above
the influence of DNA] is now becoming
well known and accepted.
MB: Yes, it’s becoming a very important field.
And another field that is also very important
is neuroplasticity. These fields have all shown
that it is much more possible than we thought
to change our own state and ourselves, to
heal ourselves. You know there are very strong
mechanisms in the human organism for selfhealing, which is what holistic medicine said since
the time of Hippocrates. And now science has
returned to this insight.
Q
How do you think the
understanding of the mechanisms
of self-healing are going to move us
forward?
MB: Mainly this happens because it coincides
with some fundamental changes in society. What
is called ‘postmodern society’ is also a lot about
everybody being very individualistic—there are no
general rules about how we should live anymore,
no general worldviews that everybody shares.
The view is that everybody should follow his
own way in life. And also that everybody has a
strong tendency to take responsibility for him- or
herself. And so this postmodern condition of man
coincides with these developments in science.
That’s why CAM [complementary and alternative
medicine] is so successful today.

HEALTH
Q
Let’s talk a little bit about energy
and information as concepts and
how they fit into the new biology.
MB: First, let’s look at energy medicine. This
is a new field that has mainly developed from
the encounter of Western medical systems
with Eastern medical systems like acupuncture
and Ayurveda. These Eastern systems all have
a fundamental concept, which does not fit at
all into the Western scientific worldview: they
consider some kind of vital energy within the
human organism to be a central element. This
is not compatible with Western science. Even
more, Western science has actually developed and
defined itself in the fight against these kinds of
concepts! But still, because there was such a need
for understanding Eastern concepts, for instance
in connection with acupuncture, Western science
has tried to understand and it is slowly changing
in this process.
It’s interesting, when first we encountered
Chinese medicine, the concept of chi, which is
one such concept of vital energy, was translated
in terms of the Western scientific concept of
energy. But the problem is that this concept of
energy in Chinese medicine does not correspond
to the Western concept. It corresponds more to
the concept of energy in esoteric knowledge.
The really good sinologists, who study the
Chinese worldview, they all agree that chi is not
energy in the Western scientific sense. It is, rather,
more on the side of information.
Energy is a mechanistic concept. It is defined as
the ability to do work. The Eastern concept of
energy is not this kind of thing, because for what
the chi does in the body, it doesn’t need energy.
Chi is more like information, which causes some
change, without needing any transmission of
energy to do that.
You know, I believe that what healers do, for
instance, is not a transmission of energy; it’s the
transmission of a state. Because before a healer
can heal, he has to go into a special state that I
would call a state of ‘coherence.’ And what he
transmits is this state of coherence. He doesn’t
transmit any energy—maybe a little, but that’s
not important.
20 Quantum Health
Q
How is this state of coherence
transmitted?
MB: Well, it’s transmitted in a similar way, for
instance, as when I am laughing, then you may
also laugh. Or when I am yawning, then you may
also yawn, because it is contagious.
Q
In NES Health, we have a concept
of matching—information
matching.
MB: Yes, a healer has to tune in to his patient,
and by this tuning then the transmission of his
state becomes possible.
Q
Almost like a tuning fork. You hit
a pitch and then the receiver can
decide to resonate at that same pitch or
not.
MB: Exactly. It’s a resonance phenomenon.
And this brings me to the point that the main
change in this new scientific worldview is that
we don’t see the human organism anymore
as a piece of solid matter. We look at it as a
system that consists of many oscillators—many
vibrating things that have fields around them,
which also vibrate. And so, the human organism
is more like a concert of oscillators. You could
say it is a resonating system that is connected
to many other resonating systems. It’s a kind
of cosmic resonator. This level of resonating
fields and resonating matter—matter basically is
also fields, so it’s resonating fields—this system
does not have such clear cut boundaries with
the environment and other people. This may
not be conscious to us, but on the level of the
unconscious we are not separate from nature
and we are not separate from other people. We
are very much connected. We are very much
one, because we are part of a huge network
of resonating webs. We are ‘webbed in’ to the
whole universe.
www.quantumhealthmagazine.com
Quantum
Issue 12 July/August 2011
Q
And this is what is sometimes
called the Matrix? This is
what can be called the vacuum, the
underlying field of the universe?
MB: Yes. But you know, of course, you could
refer to Lynne McTaggart’s book [The Field: The
Quest for the Secret Force of the Universe] but
the problem with this book is that she doesn’t
discriminate between the different levels that
she describes. For her it’s just one big field,
and scientifically this is not a good concept.
Because the different types of fields that she is
writing about are at very, very different levels
ontologically. On the one hand she speaks
about biophotons and on the other hand she
speaks about the vacuum. And then she speaks
about psychic fields, as in certain types of
parapsychological research. But these are all very
clearly different levels of existence, and you have
to discriminate among them, although, of course,
they are all interlinked.
Biphoton research, for instance, is only dealing
with the electromagnetic field of the human
body. But we must assume that there are other
types of fields in the human body that are not
electromagnetic. Even if we cannot yet measure
them, they still exist and are at least partially
physical in nature. Of course, consciousness can
also be considered a field. There are a hierarchy
of levels in the human organism, starting with the
material levels of the particles and solid body, and
then there are electromagnetic fields such as the
biophotons—which I would call the bioenergetic
field, because this has really to do with energy—
and then there are non-electromagnetic fields,
which are information fields but are still partially
physical. And biophotons have a very strong
consciousness aspect also. So, they are the
interface between consciousness and the body.
HEALTH
Q
Do you think we will ever be able
to reliably measure these nonelectromagnetic fields? That’s when
orthodox science stops looking—when
they can’t measure something.
MB: Well, first of all, it is not true that only
those things that can be measured exist. That’s
also not true in the scientific sense. The nonelectromagnetic fields that I am talking about,
some of them are actually very normal physics.
You know, for instance, the Aharonov-Bohm
effect? We already talked about David Bohm.
They found a certain physical effect which is
not an effect of an electromagnetic field, not
the effect of a force field. It’s the effect of
an information field, in that it influences the
phase. This information field is called the ‘vector
potential,’ and the vector potential is normal
physics, part of electromagnetic theory. But they
found that these potentials are actually more
fundamental than the electromagnetic field. In
the Aharonov-Bohm experiment, the effect is
actually on the phase of the electromagnetic field,
but that phase is something purely informational.
There are probably other types of fields that
are still physical but are not energy fields. And,
of course, the foundation of all this is the socalled ‘vacuum.’ This also is a field that is not
electromagnetic. It’s an information field.
So I believe that concepts from Eastern
medicine—like chi or prana or the orgone
of Wilhelm Reich—they are all more in this
non-electromagnetic region than in the
electromagnetic. But the electromagnetic field
is an interface between solid matter and these
informational fields.
Q
So, in that way, biophotons can
act as a means of communication
between matter and information fields?
MB: Yes, because the biophoton field itself has
some very curious properties that are more
consciousness-like. And this mainly is the
so-called coherence. All these quantum effects
that we have found in biophoton research,
they are actually a kind of doorway into
information or consciousness.

HEALTH
Q
Then we talk about a healer
needing to get into a coherent
state—
MB: Yes! This has been measured. There are
very interesting experiments measuring the
brain waves of the healer and healee, and they
found that, first of all, in the healing process
you see that the brain of the healer becomes
more coherent, which means that there is a
synchronization of the brain waves between
different parts of his brain. Then, you see that
the brain waves of the healer and healee start
to synchronize, to become similar. This means
that the coherent state of the healer is actually
transmitted to the brain of the healee.
Q
There’s also heart-rate coherence,
isn’t there?
MB: Exactly! That’s another physical parameter
where you can find the same phenomenon of
synchronization and coherence.
Q
So, when people have got this
synchronization of the brain
and the heart waves—is it caused by
biophoton transfer between the healer
and the healee?
MC: Very probably, but there is no transfer in a
material sense. There is a transfer of states. Like
in the entanglement measurements—you find
transfers of quantum states, but not transfer of
energy, matter, or anything.
Q
So, it’s like an entrainment?
MB: Yes. It’s similar to what I already said
about the so-called emotional contagion, which
is an important field in social psychology today.
They have found out that—what everybody
knows from everyday life—emotional states are
contagious. Positive ones and negative ones.
22 Quantum Health
Q
Don’t mirror neurons play a role
in this ‘contagion’? Or at least that
might be how some scientists explain
it.
MB: Yes, it is due to mirror neurons, but all
living cells emit an electromagnetic field, and
the assumption that fields are implicated here
strongly suggests itself.
Q
We usually talk about the state
of the healee. We don’t talk so
much about therapists’ own emotions
and inner states, although we should
according to what you are saying.
MB: Yes. And you know there is other research,
such as on meditation and brain waves. It is
very clear that the brain waves of a meditator
become more coherent. I actually believe that
health probably is a state of optimal integration
of all systems of the body and psyche and
consciousness. And so the optimal functioning
in health, particularly if we use a salutogenetic
concept of health, which means that we do not
act on the basis of the so-called ‘minimal health’
of [conventional] medicine but on the basis of
the concept of ‘optimal health.’ A minimal state
of health means that we are healthy enough to
function and to work and keep up in everyday
life. But optimal health means the optimal
functioning, the optimal state that is possible for
an individual. You can only reach this if you are
not only physically fit but also if your emotional
and mental state is in balance and you are
expressing, or at least working to express, your
innate potential as an individual. So someone
is only healthy in a salutogenetic sense when
he is working on his self-development. And
this optimal state probably is a state of optimal
synchronization and coherence between all
systems—the physical, psychological, mental, and
so on.
www.quantumhealthmagazine.com
Quantum
Issue 12 July/August 2011
Q
What would be your advice for the
best way to increase coherence?
You already talked about meditation.
MB: Self-cultivation methods, which include
meditation, yoga, tai chi, breathing, martial arts,
relaxation methods, et cetera. These methods will
be at the very centre of the health system in the
future, because they are methods that make it
possible for every individual to take care of
him- or herself.
The first point about this is that you have to
become aware of your own psychophysical state.
You have to have body-awareness, awareness of
your psychic and emotional states and of your
mental states. When you are aware of these,
then you can also regulate these states, change
them, improve them. . . . And, of course, in this
connection, there are certain technologies which
will be useful for monitoring your own state.
These technologies also partly already exist and
I think there will be strong developments in this
field. But what is much more important is that
in principle every person has the ability, without
any technology, to do this him- or herself. And
so, this means in the future that everybody will
primarily take care of his or her own health, and
only secondarily will we search for the help of any
medical doctors or experts.
Q
Do you think it is going that way?
Because we still do have quite a
dependence on going to see a doctor or
taking a medicine.
MB: Yes, that’s right, because we are all not
completely ready to take responsibility for
ourselves. If you look very deeply into the
question of what health is, then you must
state that the most important thing is to take
responsibility for your own health.
HEALTH
things mean that you have to do it yourself and
that you should follow your own deep feelings
about who you are and what you want in life.
Not some idea from society, school, parents,
friends about how you should live, who you are,
what you should do in life, and so on.
Q
I recently went to a bodywork
workshop. Getting in touch with
our bodies—that’s not something we
are taught to do.
MB: Yes, but it is the most fundamental thing
about health. If you want to live in a healthy
way, which also means that you want to prevent
illness from coming on, you have to first be aware
that you are not in balance, have taken a wrong
turn in life. That could lead to illness. And to be
able to correct it, you have to know what has
happened, to be aware of it. The optimal thing
would be to be aware of your own state and
every time you feel that you are not in balance to
make a correction in your lifestyle and behaviour
to prevent real illness coming on.
But, of course, even doing that you will not be
able to completely be free of illness because that
is an illusion. Because our lives are also processes
of development, there will always be crises in
this process, and that’s illness. That’s the deeper
sense of illness. Illness is not something negative!
Illness is not something that you should dispose
of or fight; it has a deeper meaning connected to
your own development as a person. That means
you have to understand what the message of the
illness is for yourself. You know?
Q
Illness is almost a language, isn’t
it? It has meaning.
MB: Your soul, your body are trying to tell you
something, to do something: ‘Please listen!’
As our society is fundamentally an unhealthy
society, in order to get really healthy you have
to swim against the stream! To conform to
our society is unhealthy. The most important
things about being healthy are, for instance,
authenticity, autonomy, self-awareness, selfdevelopment, self-realization. And all of these

Q
Let’s talk about some other areas
of your expertise such as psi,
shamanism. What are you excited
about in these different areas?
MB: Well, you know, I think what is most
important is this change of view from the solid,
particle aspect to the field aspect. And as a
consequence, the connectedness that is most
fundamental for our existence. There are no tight
boundaries between me as a person and the rest
of the world. There is connectedness, openness.
Especially at the unconscious level we are not
separate. And there is the concept of non-local
healing that Larry Dossey writes about. Because
there is this level of connectedness, there are also
distant influences possible, which can be used in
healing. But, on the other hand, which is maybe
even more important, it is the awareness that the
whole world is always influencing me at this deep
level, even if I am not aware of it.
This openness and connectedness also means
that there is no privacy anymore. And I must take
responsibility for my own inner states. If I am not
separate from other people, then that means my
own inner states will also affect other people.
And that’s why I have to take responsibility for
them. This means also that everything around
us, even if it is very distant, will all the time be
influencing us—on the material level, on the
chemical and physical level, on the level of the
subtle fields, on the psychic-emotional level, and
on the spiritual level. We have to very carefully
choose the situations and the persons with which
we associate because we have to be able to feel
what is nourishing for us and what is damaging
or hindering for us.
Q
Our time is almost up, so this
will be the last question. Which
researchers or developments should
our readers keep their eyes on?
MB: There are a number of things. For instance,
the work of the PEAR lab [Princeton Engineering
Anomalies Research lab] and the Global
Consciousness project of Roger Nelson. I think
these are very, very important developments. Also
the work of William Tiller, whose experiments
24 Quantum Health
showed that there is the possibility that
information can be imprinted onto materials.
This relates to the whole field of water research,
because one of the substances that have been
studied in terms of imprinting information
on substance was water, in connection with
homeopathy and the [Jacques] Benveniste affair
and so on.
Q
And Luc Montagnier.
MB: Right. There is actually a lot of solid
scientific water research going on at the moment,
from very different quarters. The main point
about this research is that water is a very complex
substance. Water has a structure, can have many
different structures, so it is possible to imprint
information into water and this information, or
structure of water, will actually last much longer
than originally was thought. So, it can be used to
transmit information—using the water as a carrier
substance. But, also, all kinds of other substances
can be used as carriers.
In the study of electromagnetic fields, there is
a very important researcher in Italy—Clarbruno
Vedruccio. He is actually a military scientist, and
he found that it is possible to detect the structure
of the electromagnetic field inside the body. He
uses it for cancer diagnosis, but it can, of course,
be used for many other things. He has patents
on it and so on, but it is an old dream of the
researchers in this field that it should be possible
by scanning the electromagnetic field outside the
person—emitted by a person—to get information
about the inner structure and state of this person.
And then there is another thing, which originally
was invented in Russia but is now available in the
United Kingdom, called the Virtual Scanner. It is
based on the idea that the way a person perceives
colour has individual differences that reflect
their inner physiological states and also their
health. So they assume that by testing colour
perception you can actually get a picture of the
whole health state of the person. I have not been
able to look closely at this, but it seems to be
very, very interesting. You could relate it to the
Lüscher colour test. He was a Swiss psychologist
who developed a system of looking at a range of
www.quantumhealthmagazine.com
Quantum
Issue 12 July/August 2011
colours: you choose a most preferred colour and
a most detested colour, and by this he makes a
picture of your whole personality.
And then there is a group of young physicists in
Germany, in Berlin or near Berlin. One of them
is Marcus Schmieke who is not only a physicist
but also used to be a Hindu monk, so he is an
experienced meditator. He has developed a
technology called Timewaver. He is actually a
friend of mine, and we have a research institute
together for applied consciousness research.
We do research of the kind that the PEAR lab
did, using random event generators and so on,
and the Tiller type of experiments and so-called
Kozyrev experiments. We are still in the process
of doing these experiments and cannot report on
any results yet.
Q
It’s very interesting, these
experiments, about how focused
intention might influence the random
event generators and technologies, even
if we are not aware of doing so.
MB: Yes, and it’s very important for the future.
In the future there will be much more [focus] on
the possibility of mentally influencing matter or
technical devices and so on.
My own view is that technologies should never
be considered ends in themselves. They should
always be considered as something that helps
us to learn about our own abilities. That means
that the telephone should actually be given up at
some point in favour of telepathy! The telephone
is only a technological realization of an ability
that every person has. Technology should only be
a learning device, and anything that technology
can do and will be able to do, we are able to do
ourselves. This is a fundamental principle I believe.
There will never, ever, be a technology that will do
something that we cannot do.
Q
That’s interesting when thinking
about therapists and their use of
different technologies.
HEALTH
are like medical doctors in that their offices are
full of technology. They rely on technology. Many
of them are not even able to communicate with
their patients in an optimal way anymore because
there is always a technology in between. I think
this is not a good development, because the
most fundamental thing in healing is always the
personal relationship with the patient, even if you
are using technologies. Therapists should never,
never forget this.
Q
Well, anything else, Marco?
MB: Maybe one other point about
information and energy. You know modern
science—non-equilibrium science—has shown
that every organism always has enough energy.
An idea that is fundamental to our culture is
that we do not have enough energy and that we
need more and more. . . . I think this is a cultural
thing and that scientifically it is wrong. We should
move away from this, and look more at what
resources a person actually has instead of looking
outwards and looking for what we can get. We
should always first look at what we already have,
and usually that’s enough. Information is more
than energy. The more conscious and coherent I
become, the more all the processes within me will
be dominated by information instead of energy.
The more conscious you are, the less energy you
need because information becomes predominant.
And I would like again to emphasis that it is not
your physical state that is important for health,
it is your mental state and spiritual state—it’s
consciousness that is important for health, not
the body. A change of consciousness changes
your physiological processes. Of course, it is good
to take care of your physical body, but it is not
enough in order to be healthy. To be healthy,
you need to take care of your life, in the sense of
leading a fulfilled life, a purposeful life.

Bioenergetics in
Germany
An Interview with Dr. Folker Meissner
By Joan Parisi Wilcox
D
r. med. Folker Meissner is a German
physician who has also been trained
in acupuncture and traditional
Chinese medicine. He runs the
Clinic for Holistic Medicine, and founded and
directs the German Academy for Energy Medicine
and Bioenergeticsis. He is also a principle at
the Institute for Bioenergetic and Informational
Healthcare, a NES Health therapy trainer, and is
widely considered among the world’s foremost
NES certified practitioners.
28 Quantum Health
Q
You founded and head the German
Academy of Energy Medicine and
Bioenergetics. What is the mission of
this Academy?
FM: This Academy (the German abbreviation
is DAEMBE) acts as a forum for scientists and
practitioners of any energy and informational
medicine discipline or bioenergetic modality to
exchange knowledge and experience, to provide
for basic and advanced education, to support
and improve research and to meet at dedicated
conferences. The Academy is happy to be involved
in a standardizing process to help practitioners
and patients decide which modalities are to be
taken seriously and which are not legitimate.
www.quantumhealthmagazine.com
Quantum
Issue 12 July/August 2011
Q
You are also director of the
Institute of Bioenergetic and
Informational Healthcare.
Tell us about that?
FM: IBIH was founded by five shareholders
based in UK, Spain, Denmark, Netherlands and
Germany. As I’m the chairman of DAEMBE,
which is also an educational facility, we chose
to have the seat of IBIH in Germany at the same
address as DAEMBE. I’m acting as the Director of
Education and Clinical Research of IBIH.
IBIH is primarily an institution to provide for
education and research in bioenergetic and
informational healthcare (BIH) worldwide. It
offers a diploma course leading to a certificate
as a Bioenergetic Health Coach (BHC), and this
course of study enables the participants to get
a profound understanding of informational
medicine and its applications. They learn about
the basics of how, for example, bioenergetic,
radionic or non-linear systems work, and they
will know the major indications of particular
devices. And, of course, they learn about nontechnical modalities including Neurolinguistic
Programming, Emotional Freedom Technique,
Coaching, Chakra therapy, Matrix Energetics,
Quantum Entrainment and Consciousness
Transformation. So, the future BHCs get to know
the efficacy of information as medicine in theory
and practical use.
Q
You are trained as a homeopath
and acupuncturist, and have
taught acupuncture. Plus, you
work in several other modalities
of complementary and alternative
medicine (CAM), including as a NES
practitioner and trainer. What is your
understanding of how information and
energy fields impact health?
FM: I have been studying and applying
information and energy medicine for more
than 25 years now. It started with classical
www.quantumhealthmagazine.com
HEALTH
traditional Chinese medicine-type acupuncture,
but very soon I chose different modalities to
complement my acupuncture-based treatments.
At this early time, around 1985 to 1990, I had
the opinion that it would be me, the doctor,
who would be the key element in the process of
healing. But more and more I learned that it’s
the patients themselves who are—and remain—
responsible for their healing journey. Increasing
experience with severe cases brought me to the
understanding of energetic and information fields
that govern the processes in the human being,
be it the body, the mind or the soul. Additionally I
do not distinguish between fields that govern the
body when it’s healthy and different ones when
it’s ill. In my opinion the same fields are working
in the state of good and ill health, but they are
more or less compromised. So we have to take
care of the proper function of the generators of
these particular fields and their integrity.
Q
How would you describe the
field of bioenergetics, and
complementary and alternative
medicine in general in Germany?
What’s happening that our readers
would want to know about?
FM: Germany has been a relatively solid platform
for complementary and alternative medicine
for about a century now. Several well-known
scientists in this field were or still are based in
Germany including researchers like Voll, Reich,
Huneke or Morell. CAM finds itself on a broad
basis as not only do we have thousands of
medical doctors using acupuncture,
bio-resonance, non-linear systems and so on,
but also thousands of well-trained practitioners
known as Heilpraktiker (comparable with
holistic naturopaths). Even though most of the
modalities used by complementary therapists still
are not acknowledged by the allopathic medical
establishment and thus are not supported by
health insurance companies, more and more
patients tend to at least try CAM. One of the
Quantum Health 29
Quantum
Issue 12 July/August 2011
HEALTH
major reasons why CAM has been able to keep
standards high (and thus the level of attraction) is
the state-controlled certified education, training
and examination in Germany. For patients, this is
a sound basis for trust in both practitioners and
modalities.
Q
What advice, if any, do you
have for CAM practitioners in
other countries, who face much more
difficult circumstances because of
lack of acceptance from the allopathic
medical establishment and government
and other regulators than do their
counterparts in Germany?
FM: My advice is very clear. The only way to cope
well with less supportive establishments is to be
good in what you do. Profound education, solid
ethical attitude and respect for one’s clients are
prerequisites, as well as not feeling superior to
established allopathic practitioners or modalities.
Q
What do you think is the biggest
hurdle currently that CAM
practitioners face in gaining acceptance
for their approach to health/medicine?
Is it lack of conventionally sanctioned
research or something else?
FM: I think there is not only one major reason.
If you are a successful CAM practitioner even
in Germany, you are considered suspicious by
those who make their money using allopathic
medicine. However, as more and more allopathic
studies are found less credible than assumed,
the lack of evidence-based research [in CAM]
becomes less and less important. It’s still the
power of established conventional medical
companies and organizations to control
authorities, media and thus published opinion
that prevents modalities like homeopathy from
getting full acknowledgement. Periodically
published (pseudo-scientific) articles in mass
media keep these modalities in the realm of
belief and placebo. The only way of increasingly
30 Quantum Health
gaining acceptance is to get as many content
patients as possible who will tell others that they
were successfully treated by CAM practitioners.
Spreading the word is not only the best way
of promoting a clinic, it applies as well to
the modalities used. And it’s the only way to
disseminate CAM in unsupportive environments.
Q
You have a thriving practice as
a holistic doctor. How do you
account for your success? Are there
tips you could provide to other CAM
professionals about establishing and
growing a successful practice based on
bioenergetics?
FM: Well, there are several aspects to be
considered. As I said earlier, in order to be
acknowledged you have to be good in what
you do. So from a professional point of view, in
the first place is high-quality basic education,
then of course continuous good work, but
also continuing advanced training is essential.
Secondly, you have to be able to establish good
rapport with your patients. So some soft skills
like empathy, emotional intelligence and social
competence are essential as well. As number
three I would place one’s self-esteem as a
practitioner. Which value do you assign to your
work and, for example, how does this mirror in
your fees? Too many practitioners suffer from
helper syndrome, leaving both the patient and
the therapist in trouble. And last but not least,
patients should feel comfortable in your practice.
Therefore, friendly ambience, appropriate
clothing, appealing atmosphere and lovely
personnel are prerequisites, too. Just make your
clinic a home for your patients.
Q
What aspects of the emerging
science of “informational
medicine” are you most excited about
and why?
FM: I have been excited about informational
medicine (IM) for more than 25 years now, that
www.quantumhealthmagazine.com
Quantum
Issue 12 July/August 2011
is, since having started with acupuncture, and I
still keep being excited, because I learn more and
more in this field every day. But the patients get
more and more open for this type of medicine as
well, and so it’s getting easier and easier to talk
to them about IM, to guide them into new realms
of feeling healthy and to have them accept that
they are responsible for their health themselves.
Modalities like Neurolinguistic Programming
and Emotional Freedom Technique facilitate
the induction of healing processes. And highly
sophisticated systems like NES ProVision or LIFE
allow for plenty of background information which
can be used to ask the next good question or
come to a conclusion about what to do next.
One of the major advantages of IM is the absence
of severe adverse reactions, yet it is highly
effective. And the increasing knowledge about
the impact of our consciousness on every single
micro-system in our body keeps me interested in
research and experimental studies in my clinic.
Especially the effect of second-order cybernetics,
that is, the mutual influence of the therapist on
both patient and device. These are intriguing to
me. Isn’t it intriguing that we are able to replace
biochemical substances just by information
patterns, that we thus can treat the cause of a
symptom instead of the symptom itself, or even
treat the reason for the cause of the symptom?
Information as medicine—this is the focus for the
next one hundred years of medicine.
HEALTH
their representation, for example, as immense
numbers of both intestinal nerve cells and their
mitochondria, but I wouldn’t be surprised at
all if we have to come to the conclusion that
our “brain in the gut” plays the major role in
governing complex basic systems of the body,
while our “brain in the cranium” is more effective
as consciousness transducer, enabling us to
extract or transform information from a cosmic or
universal consciousness to maintain our lives as
conscious beings.
Epigenetics will become more and more
important, because it delivers the answers to
many questions concerning adjustments to
our environmental challenges. Also, the role of
both DNA forms, coding and non-coding, will
become clearer in respect of their functioning as
information transducers—transducers of cosmic
information on the cellular level. Of course, the
understanding of fields being the memory and
carrier of information will increase as well as the
knowledge of sound and light in their function
as messengers and carriers of information
themselves. And I think that we will be more and
more faced with the limits of our analytic mind to
understand the ‘free will’ and the complexity of
what we call reality.

What are your predictions for one
or two aspects of biology or health
as seen by conventional scientists that
you think will soon be overturned
in favour of the “alternative” view
of biology, in terms of the biofield,
biophotons, or some other aspect of
emerging science?
FM: First of all, I think the understanding of the
role of the brain will be overturned. Already
nowadays we know much about gut instincts and

HEALTH
On the Cusp of a
New Era in Healthcare
Over the past several decades there have been many pioneers in the field of energy medicine
who have paved the way for current integrative medicine and CAM practitioners. Using light,
sound, vibration, frequencies, meridians, energy and information fields, these pioneers are
showing us that the body is not just material, but is energetic as well. And now we don’t have
to just take their word for it—there is reliable, rigorous research to back up their claims.
Evolving new-edge science reveals that we are more than our genes.
We are part of the living matrix of Nature and beings of energy and information.
At the 2011 Bioenergetic Conference, this research will be highlighted by a host of speakers
who are working at the frontiers of the new science. Over three days, your understanding of
the “new science of health” will be expanded by the latest knowledge.
The heart is more than a pump; it is an intelligent information center of the body
and a generator of full-body coherence, which has vast implications for health. The
heart is intuitive—it has a kind of knowing that works through the body and
connects us with the information and energy in our environment and with other
people.
Consciousness exists independently of our brains and extends into our environment, where it can both influence others and be influenced by others. Together our
individual consciousnesses coalesce into a global consciousness that can be
detected and measured.
Non-local consciousness and healing at a distance have become increasingly
popular areas of study. Fields of information and energy connect us in ways that
allow us to affect the material world, including our bodies and our health.
It is no longer true that “energy medicine” has to be taken on faith. There is a vast
array of biotechnologies that work at the level of the human biofield to foster
health. We can now detect that energy, image it graphically, measure it, and interface with it.
Medicine is now more than chemical. Light, sound, vibration, and a host of other
forces and fields can have restorative and rejuvenating effects of the body.

Holistic Medicine
and the NES
Health ProVision
By Dr. Folker Meissner
Note: According to German law, the statements about the NES ProVision system and the Infoceuticals made in this
article respect that the system and the theory behind it are not yet considered scientifically proven. The statements
may not apply with the law of other countries.
I
t happened on June 1, 2011—the 10,000th
scan completed with the NES ProVision®
system. I have scanned more than 1,600
patients with the ProVision, so obviously it is
one of the modalities I have successfully integrated in
my holistic health clinic.
The Clinic
I have been a physician for more than 30 years,
and developed an interest in complementary and
alternative medicine (CAM) about 25 years ago.
That exploration started with traditional Chinese
medicine (TCM) and especially with acupuncture
in 1986, followed by a specific form of controlled
ear acupuncture and ended up with many
different modalities including
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Emotional
Freedom Techniques (EFT), Reconnective
Healing™, Access Consciousness™, Spiritual
Surgery and, of course, NES ProVision. The
clientele of my outpatient clinic consists primarily
of patients suffering from chronic diseases such
as migraine and different kinds of headaches,
back pain, joint issues, heart diseases, heavy
metal intoxication, allergies, various tumorous
diseases and severe traumatic emotional issues
with respective long-term case histories.
www.quantumhealthmagazine.com
The typical phases of a first consultation consist
of an interview, physical examination, several
device-assisted examinations (such as the
ProVision) and a discussion of the results followed
by the first treatment with the most suitable
modality. So the first step with a new patient is
to thoroughly go through the case history and
document any issues and complaints, operations,
previous diseases, major impairments and so on.
Normally the interview is followed by a physical
examination to find out the grade of malfunction,
handicap or imbalance of the body and its
systems, and by a NES ProVision scan.
I use the NES ProVision software with every new
patient, and with most of my current patients,
because within 20 seconds it delivers plenty
of background information, which might be
achieved by different modalities as well, but
not in this short period of time. For this reason
and others that will become clear in this article,
I chose to focus on using the ProVision and
returned all devices known as non-linear systems
(NLS) I had tested so far.
After a ProVision scan, I sit with the patient and
go through the different screens to explain my
impressions and to find the important questions
in order to get to the background of the disease
presented. Having done this, I conduct a different
Quantum Health 37

form of examination using laser light and
polarization filters to check the chakras and to
identify hidden foci of energetic or informational
distortion. Typically, I next probe for hidden
emotional issues using the case history, the Mind
screen of ProVision and the state of the chakras.
Especially the Mind screen provides important
clues that I might not otherwise have been
alerted to. Finally, depending on the patient’s
complaints and my findings, I create a plan of
therapy and put it into action.
The Power of NES ProVision
I’d like to briefly share with you how NES came
into my life. It started in November 2006,
when I hosted an acupuncture course in Neuss
(Germany). During lunch break I sat next to
a table of four men, who were discussing
information and medicine. Probably because of
my obvious interest in their subject, they included
me in their talk, and at the end of the break they
handed me a DVD. I didn’t know at that time that
two of them were Peter Fraser and Harry Massey,
the cofounders of NES Health and developers of
the ProVision. After some weeks, I watched the
DVD and thought to myself: If only fifty per cent
of what they claimed is true then this must be a
perfect system! Unfortunately, because of a busy
clinic schedule, I wasn’t able to explore more
about this software. In March 2007 a man named
Rob van Hees tried to get me on the phone, but
because the company he represented was called
Nutri-Energetics Systems (the original name of
NES Health), my nurses thought he wanted to
sell supplements and didn’t put him through
directly! I called him back some days later and he
told me that he didn’t want to sell supplements;
on the contrary, he wanted to participate in the
exhibition of the second symposium of DAEMBE,
which is the German Academy of Energy
Medicine and Bioenergetics and which I have
the honour of chairing. So he booked space for
a NES booth. However, the symposium went by
without my being scanned, nor did I discuss my
questions with Rob and his assistants. So, since
NES had crossed my path twice and I thought
there must be some importance in it, I called
him immediately after the conference and asked
where I could get more information. He told me
38 Quantum Health
Issue 12 July/August 2011
that I would have to drive to Holland to attend
a basic training, which I did—and I came home
with the software in my suitcase!
From that moment on, I have successfully used
ProVision in my clinic. I became a certified NES
practitioner very fast and in only a few months I
had conducted about 750 scans. Since fall 2007
I’ve been the principle NES trainer in Germany
and some other European countries.
So let me now briefly introduce the NES ProVision
to those readers who are not familiar it.*
Figure 1: NES ProVision 1.03 software and scanner
NES ProVision consists of software and a scanner
(see Figure 1) that looks like a large computer
mouse. The patient places his or her hand on the
scanner and within seconds the software assesses
the energetic and informational state of his or her
body-field. An information field, also known as
bio-field or in NES terms the human
body-field (HBF), underlies the body as a
structured network of informational and
energetic subfields that correlate to all aspects of
physiological, emotional and mental processes.
The scan reveals where the integrity of the HBF
is compromised, meaning that information and
energy are distorted or lacking in the body-field
and, by correlation, in the body. The software
indicates what information should be provided
for the body to restart or enhance its own
self-healing capacities to help restore proper
functioning and, by correlation, to enhance
health. Special drops known as Infoceuticals,
containing minute quantities of trace minerals

Issue 12 July/August 2011
and information imprinted in their crystalline
structure, provide the information needed to
help reinstate the integrity of the HBF. There
are more than 70 Infoceuticals, and you as the
practitioner, based on your clinical knowledge
and with the information from the scan, are able
to recommend exactly those that contain the
information required by the body-field.
HEALTH
how well information is flowing through the
compartments of the HBF and the body. EDs and
EIs are considered the major elements for the
first protocol and therefore they are given a high
priority when it comes to correcting the HBF.
There are also other major body-field structures,
including Energetic Terrains (ET), which are
indicators of persistent energetic foci, and
Energetic Stars (ES), which indicate where the
body already may be running emergency plans to
address global informational disturbances in its
systems. ETs and ESs are primarily taken
into consideration when basic treatments
do not work.
Figure 2: Energetic Drivers Screen
Figure 4: Energetic patterns in the brainstem
Figure 3: Energetic Integrators Screen
As I indicated, the scan takes only seconds, yet it
returns hundreds of results, which are displayed
on multiple screens on the computer monitor.
The system provides for plenty of information
about several areas of the HBF, e. g., Energetic
Drivers (ED; see Figure 2) showing the degree
of energetic support of organs and systems, or
Energetic Integrators (EI; see Figure 3) showing
www.quantumhealthmagazine.com
There are all kinds of other results from the
scan, many focusing on specific informational
correlations to aspects of the mind/emotional
system. As an example, the Mind screen shows
the extent to which emotions may be involved
and how much they may be part of the different
disease-related processes. You can determine
specific information such as the priority of the
need for emotional stress release or whether
there are some hidden emotional programs
from the past that the patient may still be
running. Different screens lead you through
the informational correlations to specific brain
areas (see Figure 4) and related emotional
imprints that may act as energetic oscillators
affecting corresponding organs or tissues. This
kind of information may help you to trace back
symptoms to old emotional patterns and to
Quantum Health 39

HEALTH
suggest methods of professional treatment, either
by you if you are qualified or by other therapists.
Among the many other scan results screens are
ones indicating the informational correlations to
sensitivities to environmental stressors, including
chemical toxins, electromagnetic irradiation and
heavy metals. The results, being energetic and
informational, do not mean there is physical
exposure or contamination, but that distortions
in the body-field make regulation of such items
or substances a problem for the body. Another
screen shows the informational processing in
relation to nutrition and metabolism, which
among others provides clues about the patient’s
ability to cope with oxidative and nitrosative
stress. The musculoskeletal system screen reveals
informational disturbances that correlate to
muscles, joints, and related structures, also
allowing the story behind hurting joints to
surface, which may at times be metaphysical in
nature.
The software provides a reporting system which
allows comparing scans from different visits.
Sorted by the dates of the scans, the report clearly
shows changes of the parameters indicated, and
therefore provides a solid basis for the assessment
of the given holistic treatment (see Figure 5).
Figure 5: Report showing effective holistic therapy; most
recent scan left
As I indicated, I use the NES system with every
patient in my clinic. At the first visit a NES scan is
mandatory; however, the frequency of follow-up
scans depends on the modalities used. However,
I estimate that 90% of my patients are scanned
on a regular basis.

Combining Modalities
I chose the name “Clinic for Holistic Medicine”
for my practice for several reasons. My favourite
quote of Mark Twain is: “If the only tool you’ve
got is a hammer, everything seems to be a nail,”
because it describes the way a holistic clinic
should not work. Holistic medicine means that
you see the patient as an individual, someone
not just with a body but also with a personality,
mind and soul. The patient is not the object
of healing, but is the subject of his or her own
healing process. Holistic medicine also means
that you do not have only one modality to offer
(metaphorically, only a hammer) but at least two
or three to be able to choose from so as to find
the best method of treatment; otherwise, you
would tend to model the patient to meet your
modality, which makes the patient an object in
the healing process.
In my opinion NES ProVision fits perfectly with
the definition of the term “holistic,” because it is
consciousness-based; it covers physical, mental
and emotional aspects; and the Infoceuticals
provide information necessary for several
subsystems of the body simultaneously. However,
I have found that most of my patients receive the
highest benefit when modalities are combined.
The NES ProVision works particularly well to
complement psychological modalities, especially
NLP and EFT. This combination helps patients get
to the core of their problems faster and easier.
Also, the NES Infoceuticals can enhance the
effect of other modalities, such as Reconnective
Healing™ and Spiritual Surgery, so they make a
good combination as well. And even without
using Infoceuticals, regular NES scans are helpful
because they alone provide insight into the
probable cause or the location of persistent
energetic imbalances and blockages.
As an example of this holistic approach, I offer
a case that may help you better understand the
benefit of using NES ProVision in a busy clinic.
This female patient, M. A., was aged 74 when
she first came to see me three years ago. She had
been diagnosed with chronic myeloic leukaemia
(CML) and was confronted with a regime of
repetitive chemotherapy. But she refused to
www.quantumhealthmagazine.com
Quantum
Issue 12 July/August 2011
undergo this therapy and instead wanted to
seek less invasive complementary treatments.
A neighbour who used to be my patient had
advised her to see me, and so she drove 300
km for her first clinic visit. She was definitely
not in her best condition at her first
visit, but after assessing both
the documents she had
brought and the
results of my basic
examinations
including the
NES scan, we openly
discussed the possibilities
of a treatment based on
information medicine. To
minimize the frequency of
visits due to the driving
distance, we agreed on a
combination of a supportive
diet (to avoid intoxication by
unsuitable nutrients like pork), EFT
(to balance mind and emotions) and
Infoceuticals (to support the immune system
bioenergetically; with maximum use of two
Infoceuticals of the group ED 14, EI 7, ES 1 and
ES 5 at a time). She learned to use EFT along with
Infoceuticals, with the protocols being adjusted at
every visit.
I also treated her with a specific type of
ear acupuncture (known as controlled ear
acupuncture) that allows identifying and deleting
foci of distortion in the body regulation systems.
Using NLP techniques, we also discovered that
a major disturbing emotional factor appeared
to be the relationship in which she had been for
about 10 years at that time. Over time, as she
took responsibility for her health, she decided to
leave her partner. As a result of both her decision
to separate and the therapy, she very quickly
achieved previously unknown physical strength
and quality of life, and she appeared more
rejuvenated. Today, her laboratory parameters are
still not in a normal range (from a conventional
medical perspective), but she is a happy person
in good shape who is now enjoying her life yet
ready to leave this planet whenever the time
comes. She is still (as we say just kidding) ‘on
www.quantumhealthmagazine.com
HEALTH
Infoceuticals’ to balance her bioenergetic immune system and she
uses EFT when necessary. She has
appointments in my clinic only every
three or four months now.
NES ProVision is an extremely
comprehensive program and therefore requires
profound education and training to use all the
information provided professionally and to really
make the best out of it. Peter Fraser, upon whose
theory the system was developed, has spent
decades studying the HBF and has discovered
thousands of correlations from the body-field to
the physical, emotional and mental aspects of
the body—from the most minute to the most
systemic. This is why many people say that NES is
a theory that has integrated physics and biology
while also updating traditional Chinese medicine
and correlating it to modern biology. In this
respect, it is unique from any other system.

UNDERSTANDING THE UNIVERSE THROUGH
GLOBAL SCALING® BY SEEING THE WORLD
WITH NEW EYES
Dr. Rainer Viehweger
Dr. Rainer Viehweger, a holistic physician based
in Germany, provides an introductory description
of the theory of global scaling in his new book,
Understanding the Universe through Global Scaling.
Global scaling is an encompassing theory that
explains the harmonics of nature and the universe—
and of aspects of our everyday reality. This natural
phenomenon was discovered in the 1980´s by
Dr. Hartmut Müller and explains the dynamics
and distribution of all matter at its lowest, most
fundamental energy level. This is a level of natural
oscillations, where harmony exists. At this core
level of reality, energy and information is fractal.
The theory also proposes that the evolution of the
universe in space and time—and so everything in
the universe—is fractal, which means that s
elf-similar patterns repeat from the largest scales of
the cosmos down to the tiniest scales.
Dr. Viehweger writes for the layperson, in a
personable style and with easy-to-understand
examples that help us understand the hidden
‘master plan’ for the creation of our world and
how harmony arises in the universe. He explains
how nature uses its energy in the most effective
way, and how according to the fractal nature of the
universe, everything is connected via intelligence
and consciousness—from the smallest aspects of
matter to the largest. Gaining a knowledge of the
power and elegance of global scaling theory can
profoundly change our world by helping us to
better understand and appreciate our real place in
the cosmos. In the larger arena of science, global
scaling theory is also being applied to creating
technologies that operate in harmony with nature
and natural fields and forces.
