Our Lady of Good Counsel parish is a ROMAN
CATHOLIC, MULTICULTURAL COMMUNITY guided by
the AUGUSTINIAN tradition.
Through our CELEBRATION of the WORD and
SACRAMENT, and our PARTICIPATION in the LIFE OF
THE CHURCH, we strive to
GROW in our FAITH and share our faith with
others;
PREACH God’s MESSAGE by word and
example;
BUILD UP a spirit of COMMUNITY;
EXTEND our LOVE through service;
May the gentle Lord Jesus, born on this Christmas Day, bring peace
into your soul and abundant blessings into your home. May every
heart be opened to the Infant Prince of Peace by a fervent reception of
the Sacraments of His love.
This Christmas we, the Augustinian Friars of OLGC, express our
grateful thanks for your very kind cooperation and generous support
during the past year.
This year we are putting a lot of energy into preparation for our
Christmas liturgies. Our Family Liturgy team is working especially
hard to make the 5 PM Christmas Eve Mass a special event for families with children. We are planning a Spanish language Mass at 8 PM
and Mass in English at Midnight. We hope that you will come and
celebrate the coming of our Infant Savior with us either Christmas
Eve or on Christmas morning. Please invite your family and friends.

a su alma y abundantes bendiciones a su hogar. Que todos los corazones se abran al Niño Príncipe de la Paz con un ferviente recibimiento
de los Sacramentos de Su amor.
Esta Navidad nosotros, los Frailes Agustinos de OLGC, expresamos
nuestra inmensa gratitud por su muy amable cooperación y generoso
apoyo durante este pasado año.
Este año estamos poniendo mucha energía en preparación para nuestras liturgias de Navidad. Nuestro equipo de Liturgia de la Familia
está trabajando especialmente fuerte para hacer de la Misa de Nochebuena a las 5 PM un evento especial para las familias con niños. Estamos planeando una Misa en Español a las 8 PM y una Misa en Inglés
a la Medianoche. Esperamos que usted venga y celebre la venida de
nuestro Niño Salvador con nosotros, ya sea en la Nochebuena o en la
mañana del día de Navidad. Por favor invite a su familia y amigos.

The envelope included in your monthly
envelope for donation for Christmas flowers may be placed in the regular collection during the month of December.
There is no second collection for flowers.
Flowers may be offered in memory of
loved ones or for your various intentions.
After Christmas we will acknowledge all
the people in whose memory flowers
were offered. If you did not receive the
Christmas Flowers envelope or the
Christmas mailing, they are available
in the vestibule.

The onslaught of so much advertising and commercialism
makes it easy for us forget the true meaning of this holy
season before Christmas. The true meaning of Advent has
to do with spiritual preparation for His coming. Please do
not neglect to include the Sacrament of Reconciliation in
your list of things to do before our great feast. Remember
that Monday, Dec. 15 will be Reconciliation Monday,
with confessions available from 4 PM to 8 PM at all parishes of the Archdiocese, including our own.
May the grace and peace of Jesus be felt in your family
this Christmas and during the New Year.

fácil para nosotros olvidar el verdadero significado de este
tiempo santo antes de la Navidad. El verdadero significado del
Adviento tiene que ver con la preparación espiritual para Su
venida. Por favor no deje de incluir el Sacramento de Reconciliación en su lista de cosas por hacer antes de la gran fiesta.
Recuerde que el Lunes 15 de Diciembre tendremos el Lunes de
Reconciliación, con confesiones disponibles desde las 4 PM

Annual Collection for Retired Religious
This Weekend, December 13-14
The Annual Collection to support the retirement fund for
Religious will be this weekend. For many years the religious
men and women, especially sisters and brothers, served in
parishes, schools, hospitals and other ministries in our country, often receiving a minimum stipend. Many of us remember the numbers of religious. Their stipends provided
for their daily lives but did not allow many congregations
to provide for the retirement needs. The work of the
younger members was able to support the care of elderly
and infirm members. The reality is different now. Many
religious are older. The average age is late sixties. Many are
still serving in new ministries in their senior years. They
depend on us to support them both for health care and retirement. We were blessed by their faithful ministries.
Thank you for your generosity to them in the second collection.
Christmas recess will start Wednesday, December 24, 2014
until Thursday, January 1, 2015. Classes will resume on
Sunday January 4th, 2015 or Wednesday, January 7, depending on your schedule.

Colecta Anual para los Religiosos Retirados
Este Fin de Semana, Diciembre 13-14
La colecta anual para apoyar con los fondos de Religiosos retirados será este fin de semana. Por muchos años los religiosos hombres y mujeres, especialmente hermanas y hermanos, sirvieron
en parroquias, escuelas, hospitales y en otros ministerios en
nuestro país, a menudo recibiendo ingreso mínimo. Muchos de
nosotros recordamos el número de religiosos. Sus ingresos proveían para sus gastos diarios, pero no permitía a muchas congregaciones proveer para las necesidades en su vida de retirados. El
trabajo de los miembros más jóvenes hacia posible el apoyo y
cuidado de los ancianos. La realidad es ahora diferente. Muchos
religiosos son viejos. La edad promedio es de más de sesenta
años. Muchos aún siguen sirviendo en nuevos ministerios en sus
años de vejez. Ellos dependen de nuestra ayuda para el cuidado,
tanto de la salud como en su retiro. Nosotros fuimos bendecidos
por sus fieles ministerios. Gracias por su generosidad para con
ellos en la segunda colecta.
El receso de Navidad empezará el Miércoles, 24 de Diciembre del
2014 hasta el Jueves 1 de Enero del 2015. Las clases se reanudarán el Domingo 4 de Enero del 2015, o el Miércoles 7 de Enero dependiendo de su horario.

Social Action Committee News
“OUR GIVING TREE”
Our Giving Tree is up and decorated with ornaments
made by OLGC students. Please take one and return the
item on it as soon as possible. Our goal this year is the
same as last year, we would like to make it a warm winter for all, therefore we are asking for hats, gloves, mittens, scarves and blankets. Christmas distribution begins on December 6 and continue through December 20.

meta este año es la misma del año pasado, nos gustaría que
fuera un invierno cálido para todos, por lo tanto estamos pidiendo sombreros, guantes, mitones, bufandas y mantas. La distribución de Navidad comienza el 6 de Diciembre y continuará hasta el 20 de Diciembre. Una vez más, gracias por su ayuda este
