Eugenic R. Duarte
Dr. Eugenio R. Duarte is a general superintendent in the Church of the Nazarene with an office at the
Global Ministry Center in Lenexa. Kansas. USA.
He was chosen for the highest elected office in the church at the 27th General Assembly held in Orlando.
Florida. USA., in 2009. At the time of his election. Dr. Duarte was serving as the Africa regional director for the
denomination.
Prior to that assignment he was the director for the Africa West and French Equatorial Fields, where he
facilitated the expansion of the church into Sierra Leone and the Reunion Islands and developed a strategy to enter
Guinea Bissau. Dr. Duarte has also served as director for the Africa Lusophone Field, directing the start of our work
in Equatorial Guinea, and as field director for Central Africa.
Before this he was a teacher and the director of the Seminario Nazareno de Cabo Verde (SNCV). District
Superintendent of Cape Verde, and pastor of the Porto Novo and Mindelo Churches of the Nazarene.
Duarte was born in Brava. Cape Verde, and accepted Christ under the ministry of the Church of the
Nazarene at the age of twelve. He received his call to preach shortly after his conversion, was mentored by his
pastor, and was ordained by Dr. Orville Jenkins Sr. in 1981. He studied at SNCV and received his Master of Arts
degree from Azusa Pacific University. California. USA. In 2012 he received his Master in Business Administration
from Northwest Nazarene University. Nampa. Idaho. USA. He was bestowed the honorary Doctor of Divinity by
Africa Nazarene University in May 2006.
Dr. Duarte and his wife. Maria Teresa, moved from Johannesburg. South Africa, to the Kansas City area in
the fall of 2009. They have three sons. Sergio, Francisco, and Richard, and two grandsons. Gabriel and Ben Amar.

Guinea Bissau. Dr. Duarte también se ha desempeñado como director para el África Lusófona campo,
dirigiendo el inicio de nuestro trabajo en Guinea Ecuatorial, y como director de campo para África Central.

Dr. Duarte y su esposa, María Teresa, se trasladaron de Johannesburgo, Sudáfrica, para el área de Kansas
City en el otoño de 2009. Tienen tres hijos, Sergio Francisco, y Richard, y dos nietos, Gabriel y Ben Amar.

Rasgos biográficos.
Nació en la ciudad de Monterrey, sus primeros años los vivió en el Instituto Bíblico del Distrito Norte de México,
donde su padre, el Rev. Francisco Herrera, estudiaba, y luego fue el director. De sus primeros 28 años de vida, 20 los vivió en
Institutos bíblicos y seminarios. A los 18 años de edad se fue a la universidad de Bethany para estudiar ciencia y así huir de Dios.
Graduó con concentraciones en biología, química y Teología.
Graduó con Maestría en Microbiología de la Universidad de Texas en San Antonio (UTSA) en 1981, y brevemente fue maestro
de ciencia en el Seminario Nazareno Hispanoamericano en San Antonio.
Trabajo en experimentación científica desde 1979 hasta su jubilación en el año 2007 y continuo trabajando parte del
tiempo hasta el año 2013, cuando Dios le llamo a ser el Superintendente del Distrito Latino Texas Oklahoma. Trabajando en
“The University of Texas Health Science” Center at San Antonio,' Dios le llamo a ser líder juvenil, y leyendo el libro misionero
"SONS OF AFRICA, Stories from the life of Elmer Schmefzenbach, "Un regalo de graduación de parte de los misioneros Black,
Fue que Dios le recordó que le estaba llamando al ministerio. Acepto su llamado en 1988, y principio pastoreando la Iglesia de
Las
Palmas, donde ha estado ya por más de 25 años.
Con él al pastoreado le apoyan Aurora, su esposa. Y sus hijos Ruskin Caleb, ahora aviador de F-15 en la Fuerza Aérea,
estacionado en Inglaterra, casado con Marie Ryan y su primer bebe, Denia Keren, Maestra y casada con otro piloto de F-16,
Russel Burkhard, estacionados en Corea. Y Astrid Apir; maestra de cuarto año y casada con Roberto Sierra.
En los 25 años de ministerio, Dios le ha dado el privilegio, y bendición de ver la iglesia local crecer en número, finanzas,
edificios, y terreno. Con la ayuda de Dios ha ministrado en California, Nuevo México, Colorado, Georgia, Monterrey, La
Huasteca Potosina, Guadalajara,
ha trabajado en la iglesia Global como miembro del Concilio General de Jóvenes; y ha sido interprete de Juntas y
Convenciones y Asamblea General ya por 20 años.
También ha gozado de dos privilegios. Uno, el estar en uno de los centros donde nació la Iglesia del Nazareno, otro,
estar en la Casa de Juan Wesley, y en la Calle 'Albergaste' donde nació el Wesleyanismo.
Al presente sirve como el Pastor de tiempo completo del Distrito Latino Texas Oklahoma. El Menciona que su único deseo es
"ser usado por Dios".
REV, CALEB HERRERA
Born in Monterrey, Mexico, his early years he lived in the Bible Institute of Northern Mexico City, where his father, the
Rev. Francisco Herrera, studied, and then his father became the director. In its first 28 years, 20 were spent in Bible institutes and
seminaries. At 18 years old he went to Bethany College to study science and so run away from God. He graduated with
concentrations in Biology, Chemistry and Theology.
Graduated with a Masters in Microbiology from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) in 1981 and was briefly science
teacher at the Spanish Nazarene Seminary in San Antonio.
He worked in scientific experimentation from 1979 until his retirement in 2007 and continued to work part time until
2013, when God called him to be the Texas District Superintendent Latino Oklahoma. J
Working on 'The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, 'God called him to be a youth leader, and reading
the missionary book" SONS OF AFRICA, Stories from the life of Elmer Schmelzenbach," A graduation gift from the Black
missionaries, was reminded that God was calling him to the ministry. He accepted his call in 1988, and early shepherding the
Church of Las Palmas, where he has been serving for over 25 years.
Aurora, his wife agreed to follow the pastorate, And their children Caleb Ruskin, now Flier F-15 in the Air Force, stationed in
England, married to Marie Ryan and expecting her first baby, Denia Keren, Teacher and married to another F -16 pilot, Russell
Burkhard, stationed in Korea. And Astrid April, fourth year teacher and committed Roberto Sierra. In the 25 years of ministry,
God has given the privilege and blessing of seeing the local church grow in numbers, finance, buildings and grounds. With the
help of God has ministered in California, New Mexico, Colorado, Georgia, Monterrey, The Huasteca, Guadalajara, and worked
in the church as a member of Global General Youth Council, and has been interpreter of General Meetings and Conventions
and General Assembly for 20 years. He has also enjoyed two privileges. One, being in one of the centers where the Church of the
Nazarene was born in Kyoto, Japan. The other, being in the home of John Wesley, and in the Street' Aldersgate 'where
Wesleyanism born. Presently serves as the Pastor of Oklahoma and Texas Latino District Full time. He mentions that his only
desire is "to be used by God."

La Bienvenida fue por el Rev. Rogelio López y la Oración Rev. Ángel Espinoza Se cantó
el Himno: Hay Poder – Se hizo la presentación de banderas y un grupo de hermanas presento
danza al tiempo del canto se leyó Isaías 61:1, Se presentó el Tema de La sociedad Misionera –
Looking Out / Mirando Hacia Fuera.
Se dio tiempo para escuchar el Testimonio: Iván Martínez, quien estuvo encarcelado, Y
empezó una vida de mal desde los 11 años. Había sido sentenciado por 7 años a prisión donde
fue salvo y además fue dado en libertad en solo 4 años. Hoy tiene 28 años es casado con hijos y
está mostrando como Jesús lo rescato de una vida de drogadicción y alcohol y como puede librar
a otros.
Los Pastores and respectiva esposa cantaron en coro el himno Dios Me Santifico
El Superintendente, Caleb Herrera introdujo y dio la bienvenida a los invitados especiales:
Superintendente General, Eugenio Duarte and María Teresa Duarte, también se dio la bienvenida
a Director of SNU, Loren Gresham, al VP and Director of Relations, Terry Toler, Al director de
Evangelismo mundial, Dr. William (Bill) Wisemen, Dr. David Wesley and Samuel Flores.
Se le dieron Felicitaciones al Rev., Rogelio López and su familia por servir al Señor juntos como
familia en la Iglesia.
Después de esto se levantó la ofrendaHubo más cantos congregacionales mientras varias hermanas alababan con banderas.
La predicación fue traída por el: Superintendente General., Eugenio Duarte basada en
(Deutonomio. 23: 23-27).
Se oró, se tuvo la Santa Comunión y fuimos despedidos.

Rogelio López. El Superintendente. General., Dr. Eugenio Duarte – Predico sobre Como puede
Dios usar aquellos que están dispuestos Su Guía y Liderazgo. Basado en Nehemías 2:11-20
Lo describió como un hombre que tenía una visión. Un hombre que quería seguir a Dios, Hablo
también del mensaje de esperanza de como lloro y oro ayunando y orando Uso también la
analogía de un concierto y de cómo los instrumentos unidos llagaban a hacer un hermoso sonido.

Él utilizó la analogía de un concierto y cómo todos los instrumentos tienen que unirse, para hacer
un gran sonido. Así es como la iglesia debe trabajar juntos para hacer que grandes cosas suceden.
El Dr. Bill Wiseman dijo - "Es todo acerca de Jesús; No se trata de que usted o yo! Estamos
viviendo hoy en los grandes días de la cosecha. (Juan 4:35). La cosecha está madura y
abundante, pero hay una falta de trabajadores; no es la falta de dinero. Necesitamos orar; es la
llave para abrir la puerta. Debemos orar la manera en que Dios nos pide que oremos y Él le
responderemos – Hay fuerza en la Oración: Lucas 10: 2
Nuestro Enfoque: Basado en Discipulado Bíblico / Método: Relación por Kevin McDonald –
Necesitamos Visión: Una nueva iglesia por año. Jesús dijo: "Pedid"
Menciono que del 28 al 30 julio – habrá "Programa de Capacitación Básica"
Y esta ayudara para cumplir la Visión 2020--- llegar a 3, 500,000 miembros para esta fecha. Se
pasaron 2 tarjetas por iglesia para completadas donde estará la promesa de cumplir el desafío de
cada Iglesia. El enemigo tratará de impedir que alcancemos lo que queremos lograr, ¡no seremos
derrotados!
Dr. Duarte después - invito a todos los que se enfrentan o están pasando a través de retos, para
subir al altar para orar por ellos y ungir a los que creen en esta visión. Dr. Duarte oró por la
sanidad y vencer los retos más allá de su comprensión; oró para mantenernos dispuestos porque
Dios quiere usarnos para lograr grandes cosas. ¡El Dr. Duarte ungido a muchos, en el nombre de
Jesús!

El Superintendente general Dr. Eugenio Duarte, el Superintendente del Distrito, Caleb Herrera, y
el Secretario de Distrito, Rev., José Ayala se sentaron en la mesa principal para sentar a los
delegados en la Barra. Los delegados y los pastores se sentaron en las bancas de en medio y 3
filas a cada lado. Se invitó a los visitantes especiales para sentarse delante.
Caleb Herrera ha servido durante 2 años. Un reconocimiento especial fue dado a Aurora Herrera
por su apoyo.
Al Rev., José Palacios de la iglesia Primera en Mercedes, TX se le dio un regalo ya que son con
más crecimiento de la membresía. A Todos los pastores Que cumplieron todas sus metas se les
dio una canasta de regalo que demuestra nuestro agradecimiento por todo su duro trabajo.
Caleb Herrera dio su informe, Hablo de los logros de muchas Iglesias de las bendiciones de cada
gira y viaje echo a través del distrito y presento varias fotos de varias actividades y se mostró un
video donde San Antonio, Iglesia Las Palmas ha abierto su iglesia para ayudar a los enfermos
mentales, el Proyecto Casa Club iniciado por Mark Robó.
Después de leer su informe se le felicito a Caleb por el trabajo hecho y se procedió con los
negocios de día.

El Plan dinámico para Plantar Iglesias Internacional (DCIP) se volvió a mencionar - Dr. Duarte
afirmó que si queremos tener éxito, tenemos que dar más de lo que esperamos volver. También
mencionó que Caleb Herrera no puede hacer todo el trabajo necesario por sí mismo.
Todos hicimos una pausa por un momento de oración para que Dios llevaría nuestros corazones
y mentes a elegir si desea o no reelegir a Caleb Herrera Como se le dijo el Superintendente del
Distrito. Se repartieron las boletas para nosotros y votar "Sí" o "No para Caleb Herrera.
Cuando los escrutadores salieron.
Loren Greshem informó que ha estado en SNU por 26 años. Él dijo de SNU que es una
universidad de la Gran Comisión. Anunció que la Asamblea de Distrito del próximo año sería en
Oklahoma, Primera Iglesia. Luego pasó a decir de Pedro Bliss (1873), quien fue el autor de la
canción enseñado en la escuela dominical titulado, "Dare To Be A Daniel." Él preguntó: "¿Qué
significa ser un Daniel?" Estamos tratando de levantar a Daniel y Daniella de. Él también nos
llama a estar atentos en ser cuidadoso para no tener a alguien que tome nuestra identidad como
hijos de Dios; tener cuidado para cuidar de nuestra cultura. Vamos a mantener la excelencia,

El Superintendente General Dr. Duarte pidió se presentara el video “Nazarenas Esencials” Nuestra identidad, propósito, misión, visión.
Dr. Duarte – Hablo del Movimiento de Santidad A través del mundo – Menciono que la iglesia
está cambiando en 7 cosas: Adoración significativa, Coherencia Teológica, Evangelismo
Apasionado, Discipulado Intencional, Desarrollo de la Iglesia, Liderazgo Transformacional y
Compasión con propósito. Hemos creado las “Nazarenas Essentials”. Para entender quiénes
somos y cómo vamos a lograr lo que Dios quiere que hagamos. Nuestras bases son firmes. Hay
una página web disponible con 5 idiomas diferentes – Hay Herramientas - presentaciones para
ayudar a preparar a miembros de la iglesia. “Holiness Today” Hoy Santidad / “Herald of
Holiness” Heraldo de Santidad
Se pidió el Reporte de 1 minuto con lo más destacado de Pastores y su ministerio:
1. El Dr. Rev. Joe Dimas (SA, Primera) – Da gracias por sus 50 años en el ministerio. Dios los
ha bendecido y está agradecido de que se han dedicado a dar el catecismo a los miembros de la
iglesia. 56 tomaron el curso y ahora tienen 31 nuevos miembros.
2. El Rev. Evelio Monestina (SA, Sur Flores) - quiere empezar una escuela de Evangelismo y
Liderazgo.

3. El Rev. Didier Nuño (SA, Columbia Heights) - ha estado en el ministerio 40 años. Él tiene 3
nuevos miembros, pagado todos los presupuestos y tiene un nuevo proyecto: son una iglesia,
orando constantemente y en busca de métodos para llegar a la comunidad.
4. El Rev. Manuel Velázquez (SA, Harlandale) – está trabajando con el Plan del Maestro - han
reconstruido la iglesia y están listos para trabajar. 7 personas dedicaron sus vidas a Dios y son
realmente muy agradecido en la dirección en que se mueven.
5. El Rev. Rogelio López (Houston) - pagó todos sus presupuestos, tienen 25 nuevos niños que
se reúnen los viernes. Da gracias a Dios por tener en Houston la asamblea y poder participar en
la Asamblea de Distrito de este año.
6. El Rev. Raúl Alfonso (SA, Emmanuel) – menciona que son bendecidos de tener un ministerio
de los niños ya la espera de los resultados positivos. El dispone de un programa de liderazgo que
se inició con 8 y ahora son un promedio de 15 a 20. Se han abierto su iglesia a las 2 pm del
miércoles de y están teniendo los servicios de oración el jueves de. Él y su esposa van a tomar un
año sabático de 3 meses. Está agradecido y agradecido por todo el apoyo que le había dado.
7. El Rev. Víctor Trujillo (SA, Mision-Cuerpo de Cristo) - Ha estado en esta iglesia durante 2
años. Tuvo un accidente que requirió varias cirugías, pero gracias a Dios, ahora está curado,
después de un año sabático. Él está trabajando con un grupo de personas, a raíz de la semilla de
siembra. También tuvo la suerte de asistir al retiro Pastores.
8. El Dr. Rev. Accel Ruiz (SA, Las Palmas) - Él ha estado en servicio de la iglesia durante 46
años. Ellos han estado en Las Palmas por 3 meses; la iglesia los recibió bien. La salud espiritual
de la iglesia es bueno. Él planea trabajar con diligencia en el crecimiento de la iglesia.
9. El Rev. José Cárdenas (Fort Worth) - Mencionó que se han remodelado las paredes, la iglesia
y la casa pastoral tienen aire central. Él se ha ocupado de la salud de su esposa. Su hijo, Ricardo
va a regresar a la iglesia, así como a su hija. Tienen una nueva visión.
Hubo una pausa y se invitó al Dr. David Wesley – representando el Seminario Teológico
Nazareno - Kansas City, menciona que en 70 años, ha habido más de 6.000 personas que han
estudiado allí; Han sido los autores de libros y han colaborado con 5 universidades, ofrendas a
SNU, tienen un programa de maestría con cursos en línea y cursos modulares. Las estadísticas
indican que en los próximos 10 años, el 40% de los pastores se retirará. Cada pastor debe tener 1
o 2 personas que están ayudando y apoyando como el ser la próxima generación llamado al
ministerio. Necesitamos una nueva generación que sabe leer y entender el contexto en el mundo
en que vivimos y cómo podemos servir. Tenemos que encontrar a los que están siendo llamados.
¿Quién será la enseñanza de Líderes Hispanos? Dios se está moviendo la iglesia y tenemos que
estar preparados. Y presento el Seminario como una opción a la preparación al ministerio.
A las 11:55, se anunció que había 61 votos "Sí" y 12 "no". Caleb Herrera es reelecto por 4 años
según lo dicho Superintendente del Distrito.
La respuesta de Caleb era que estaban aquí para servir y responder a la llamada de ganar almas
para Cristo y hacer todo lo posible, con el poder del Espíritu Santo. En el amor, van a seguir

sirviendo. Ellos están muy felices y agradecidos para hacer su obra. Dieron todos los Pastores
una bolsa de regalos, lleno de nueces, dando sus "gracias" en su nombre.
Dr. Duarte - Dijo de que la esposa de Caleb ¡es tener toda nuestra confianza. Este es el año de la
cosecha y Realización - Dios los bendiga!
A las 12:05 de la tarde, se aprobaron las boletas a las elecciones para Junta Consultora: 3 Laicos
y 3 Presbíteros y también votar por el Director de Evangelismo, un "Sí" o "No" para el Pastor,
José Ayala.
Se anunció que durante los últimos 2 años, la Nazarene Publishing House “Casa Nazarena d
Publicaiones” ha estado en nuestras oraciones, en los medios de comunicación y ha pasado por
momentos muy difíciles; la era digital es la razón por qué ha habido cambios. Ahora, hay todo
tipo de dispositivos, la nube, internet. La tableta electrónica, etc., sin embargo, CNP todavía está
en el negocio! Desafortunadamente, no hay suficiente trabajo para mantener puestos de trabajo,
por lo que algunos empleados tuvieron que ser despedidos. Si usted necesita pedir el material,

10. El Rev. Carlos Mendoza (OK, Primera) - tiene 6 nuevos miembros, 3 fueron bautizados.
Ellos están orando por oportunidades para evangelizar. Pasaron por un tornado y se refugiaron en
un sótano. Afirmó que el 90% de su congregación no es cristiana y que están hablando con los
hermanos cristianos que pueden ayudar con el aspecto espiritual de la iglesia.
11. El Rev. Ángel Espinoza (OK, Segunda) - Expresó su gratitud hacia Dios por su maravillosa
misericordia. Dio las gracias a todos por su apoyo.
12. El Rev. Carlos Valle (Harlingen) - Fue llamado al ministerio en 1971 y está agradecido de
que él todavía está en su servicio.
13. El Rev. Juan X López (Berea, Harlingen) - Ha sido 6 años de tener la escuela dominical y
servicio de adoración en su casa de habitación de estar. Si pagan alquiler con opción a utilizar un
edificio para servicios de la iglesia, que no sería posible pagar el Pastor. Ellos siguen
presionando hacia adelante, ¡en el nombre de Jesucristo!
14. El Rev. Daniel Molina (Donna) - pagó todos sus presupuestos. Mencionó que su
congregación se duplicaría y, posiblemente, el triple de tamaño si la gente venía a la escuela
dominical. Él los desafió a hacer lo imposible, en el nombre de Jesús! "Clama a mi y yo te
responderé..." Ellos también están cumpliendo los sábados con la Juventud. NMI recibió un
premio por el envío de un 13% de los fondos a la Evangelización Mundial.
15. El Rev. José Palacios (Mercedes) - Mencionó que en Mayo, cambiaron la forma en que están
orando; que están buscando "la voluntad del Señor" en lugar de la propia. La han tenido éxito en

el programa después de la escuela; una familia ha venido de eso y una persona fue convertida.
Han pasado de 20 en la asistencia a 40; su meta es 50.
16. El Rev. José Ayala (San Benito) - Después de haber estado en sabático durante un año, ha
enfrentado momentos difíciles. Su esposa pasado a través de retos de salud graves, pero por la
gracia de Dios, a pesar de que el dolor aun así, ella es capaz de apoyarlo en el ministerio. Ha
estado involucrado en un área diferente del ministerio y posiblemente comenzar a trabajar más
con los niños.
17. El Rev. Guadalupe Moreno (Plainview) - Anunció que ahora estaba curado de cáncer! Él está
trabajando con nueva juventud porque 2 de sus líderes juveniles han dejado de estudiar; 17 niños
están en la esgrima biblia que asisten los miércoles. Tenían VBS y pudieron disfrutar de un gran
tiempo de compañerismo. Ellos asistieron al retiro de Pastores; tienen los servicios de oración el
sábado y jueves.
El superintendente General Dr. Duarte Dio reconocimiento a todos los presbíteros y pidió se
continuara con los demás pastores.
18. El Pastor Mario Sánchez (Odessa) - ha estado en Odessa durante 4 años; Empezó con cero y
ahora cuenta con 23 miembros. Su visión es tener un nuevo edificio de la iglesia. Ellos están
haciendo hincapié en el culto y la evangelización. Él está a la disposición de Dios y confiando en
su misericordia.

19. El Ministro Licenciado, Antonio Alvarado (Mision-Las Naciones) – Dijo que en este mundo,
tendremos aflicciones. Simplemente saber que el Señor es una bendición. Habrá enfermedades
que vienen para que la gloria de Dios se manifieste! Oremos para que nos pondremos a trabajar y
fervientemente orar unos por otros.

quería quedarse a almorzar allí.
1:20 PM - Se anunció también a todos los que estén dispuestos a quedarse para ayudar a tomar
las cosas y poner todo en su lugar apropiado.

1. Reporte del Superintendente de Distrito
District Superintendent Report
Estimado Superintendente General, Dr. Eugenio Duarte, delegados y amigos,
“En aquel tiempo yo era copero del rey…” (Neh. 1:11) Así principia su historia Nehemías cuando nos
cuenta de su odisea en reconstruir su amada ciudad y los muros que la protegían. ¿Porque dejó este
varón su buena posición, seguridad, recompensa, prestigio en el palacio por tomar un reto para el que
tal vez él no tenía las habilidades necesarias, y no tuviera el reconocimiento que tenía en el palacio real?
Lo hizo por amor. Amor a su gente, amor a una ciudad destruida, amor a muros caídos, amor a personas
sin esperanza, amor a familias endeudada, amor a personas de escasos recursos económicos.
También lo hizo por Fe. Fe en un Dios todopoderoso, fe en personas que tenían esperanza. Y lo hizo
porque tenía una visión, visión de lo que Jerusalén podía volver a ser.
Han pasado dos años desde que aceptamos el llamado de Dios. Llamado de Dios estamos
seguros, de otra manera hubiera sido fácil quedarnos en ‘el palacio y continuar siendo coperos del rey.’
Pero el amor que tenemos por este distrito nos orilló a aceptar el reto de lo que percibimos como
necesidad de reconstrucción.
Providencialmente me senté en M15 junto a Diann Diehl, nieta del Dr. Everette Howard, nuestro
superintendente de distrito de 1951 hasta el final de los 60’s y a quien tuve el honor de conocer siendo
adolescente. Este acontecimiento me puso en contacto con Jo (Howard) Cunningham, hija del Dr.
Howard. Jo estaba en la High School cuando sus padres llegaron a San Antonio, Texas. Ella me comentó:
“Papá pronto se dio cuenta que muchos edificios estaban en malas condiciones y principió una campaña
de renovar esos viejos edificios. También se dio cuenta que algunos pastores ya eran mayores de edad,
y principió un programa para reclutar pastores más jóvenes.” Eso fue hace 64 años, y parece ser,
desafortunadamente, que el ciclo se vuelve a repetir.
Al tomar el desafío de este distrito solo hice una promesa, y fue la de llevar a este distrito a
tener un superintendente de tiempo completo. Y aunque no tenemos los recursos que dijimos eran
necesarios para dar dicho paso, en esta mañana, para este siervo es un regocijo el poder comunicarles
que ya tenemos la posición de superintendente de tiempo completo. Hemos tomado este enorme paso
por fe, y Dios se ha provisto de pastor para Las Palmas, iglesia de la que fui pastor por más de 26 años,
pastor Dr. Accel y Raquel Ruiz. El Dr. Ruiz, siendo graduado de nuestro Seminario Nazareno Teológico
de Kansas City, viene a ser una adición muy apreciada a nuestro distrito. Y de esta manera principia el
trabajo de reconstrucción.
Un gran aliado en esta batalla ha sido Cajas de Alabastro. Gracias a la intervención del Dr. Robert
Broadbooks hemos obtenido fondos para poder poner techo nuevo al templo y casa pastoral de

Kingsville. Techo a la casa pastoral de Jesucristo, Príncipe de Paz en Brownsville. La nivelación de la casa
pastoral de la iglesia Central, y el arreglo del alambrado eléctrico del mismo templo. Hemos podido dar
ayuda a los hermanos de Harlandale que reconstruyeron su templo. Ayuda a la iglesia de San Benito
para el techo nuevo de su templo. Ayuda para el techo y reconstrucción de la tubería de gas de la iglesia
de Plainview. Ayuda a la iglesia de Mercedes para la construcción de su pabellón, y para el fondo de
construcción de su próximo templo.
Sin ayuda del distrito, la iglesia de Laredo Primera ha estado reconstruyendo su casa pastoral, los
felicitamos.
El trabajo de reconstrucción ha sido un esfuerzo de todo el distrito. Juntos, adultos, jóvenes, y niños,
SDMI, NYI, respaldamos el proyecto de “Amor en Acción” de MNI en West Texas. 40 personas de las
iglesias de Harlingen, Corpus Christi, San Antonio Primera, Las Palmas, La Cruz, Fort Worth, Oklahoma
City Primera, Oklahoma City Segunda; ayudamos a nuestras tres iglesias en Plainview, Lubbock y Odessa.
El resultado ha sido hermoso. Literalmente el desierto está floreciendo.
La reconstrucción esta también tomando lugar en la casa distrital, casa que comprara el
Dr. Everette Howard en 1953, y luego fuera habitada por los superintendentes Dr. Harold Hampton, Dr.
H. O. Espinoza, y Dr. Joe Dimas. Tristemente la casa se deterioró al punto de casi quedar inservible, pero
sabiendo que el lugar es especial y muy buena la comunidad, nos hemos dado a la tarea de reconstruir
toda la casa, pues es necesaria para el futuro del distrito. Gracias a la familia de Iván y Pati Martínez, el
Hno. Iván esta remodelando toda la casa, y a estas alturas ya terminó con el techo del garaje, la oficina,
el comedor y la sala.
La reconstrucción también está tomando lugar en el ámbito pastoral y educativo.
Participamos de la jubilación del Rev. Margarito y Alicia Garza. La iglesia de Corpus Christi ahora cuenta
con una pareja joven dirigiéndola. El M. Lic. Margarito y Angie Garza Jr. han tomado este desafío.
También en este año hemos instalado al joven pastor M. Lic. Jesse Méndez Jr. como el pastor de
Lubbock. La iglesia de Mercedes tuvo dolor de parto dando a luz la nueva obra, y primera obra en ingles,
Living Water church of the Nazarene, siendo su pastor el joven M. Lic. Santiago y Zoila Prado. Ellos, junto
con el Dr. Ruiz, nos dan cuatro pastores nuevos en este año.
El Instituto Nazareno de Educación Ministerial (INEM) continúa preparando jóvenes para el ministerio,
tanto en San Antonio como en El Valle. Otros de nuestros jóvenes están estudiando con ENTE
(Educación Nazarena Teológica Especializada).
Nuestro distrito se ha unido al resto de los distritos de Texas para principiar la Facultad de Educación
Ministerial Peniel (Peniel School of Ministry), Facultad que está en alianza con Nazarene Bible College en
Colorado Springs, para dar la posibilidad de créditos universitarios en la educación ministerial, que al
mismo tiempo es asequible.
En otra área de educación ministerial, el departamento de Ministerios Hispanos se ha unido al Seminario
Teológico Nazareno para dar oportunidad de obtener doctorados en Ministerios, y dos de nuestros
pastores ya han sido aceptados en este programa, Rev. Ubaldo Salazar, y Rev. Rogelio López.
Hemos puesto atención a la necesidad de la educación y preparación de nuestro cuerpo ministerial. Muy
pocos asistimos a PALCON. Procuraremos que en el futuro nuestros pastores pongan más atención a
estas oportunidades.
Nuestro Superintendente General Dr. Gustavo Crocker y su esposa, Rachel, nos acompañaron en el

Retiro de Pastores. Dios nos visitó.
En las ‘Conferencias Dr. José Rodríguez’ estuvo con nosotros el Dr. Wilfredo Canales. Una gran
bendición.
En el Retiro de Lideres vino el Rev. Corey Jones, Fundador del Congreso Nacional de Oración. Esdras
Hernández, presidente de JNI del distrito Noreste de México; Estela Reza, misionera voluntaria en
Irlanda; Vania Palacios, nuestra presidente de JNI de distrito; Dulce Villanueva, pastor de Niños de la
Iglesia SA Las Palmas; y Rev. Ubaldo y Teresa Salazar, plantadores de iglesia en San Marcos, Texas.
En todos estos eventos hubo la posibilidad de obtener horas de ‘Aprendizaje de Toda la Vida.’ En lo
personal hemos completado el curso para entrenadores de DCPI.
Los muros continúan siendo renovados.
“Edificamos, pues, el muro, y toda la muralla fue terminada hasta la mitad de su altura, porque
el pueblo tuvo ánimo de trabajar.” (Neh. 4:6)
Podemos notar un espíritu de optimismo en el distrito. Las iglesias están trabajando. En cada iglesia
vemos rostros nuevos, y en la mayoría de las reuniones anuales comimos juntos. Siempre que hay
comida parece haber optimismo, el dicho lo dice, ‘estómago lleno, corazón contento.’
La asistencia al campamento de niños aumentó de alrededor de 50 el año pasado a más de 120 en este
año. Y por primera vez nuestros niños participaron de Esgrima Bíblico a nivel regional en SNU.
La asistencia al campamento de jóvenes subió arriba de 100 por primera vez en varios años.
A Dios damos la Gloria!
Por primera vez tuvimos un retiro de Damas netamente de nuestro distrito, y de más de una noche,
donde asistieron 68 damas. Estas mujeres regresaron a sus iglesias inyectando nuevo espíritu.
La Primera Iglesia de San Antonio recibió 31 miembros nuevos. La iglesia de Mercedes recibió 21
miembros nuevos. Living Water principió con 26 miembros que salieron de Mercedes. Los muros se
siguen reconstruyendo.

También estamos siendo parte de la comunidad que rodea nuestras iglesias. Mercedes ha principiado
un programa de cuidado de niños después de clases por las tardes, el cual se va a extender a dar
alimentos durante el verano.
El programa de ayuda a personas con enfermedades mentales, “The Clubhouse,” ha abierto una sucursal
en un salón de la iglesia de Las Palmas en San Antonio.

Liliana Reza, misionera en América del Sur, ha regresado su membrecía a su iglesia, Oklahoma City
Segunda, y así nuestro distrito tiene una misionera, hija de este distrito, nacida, creada y educada en
medio nuestro. Todos nosotros gozamos de su ministerio pues fue nuestra misionera en la gira anual de
misiones.
Robbie Díaz, otro hijo de nuestro distrito, participó del programa SIMS (SNU in Missions), con su lema:
SOWEGO, y nos representó bien en el país de Brasil. Una vez de regreso estuvo trabajando con nosotros
en el campamento de jóvenes, y en Amor en Acción en West Texas. Agradecemos a Southern Nazarene
University como nuestra universidad por el trabajo que hace con nuestros jóvenes. Esperamos en el
futuro tener más oportunidades de trabajar juntos.
Desafortunadamente no todo ha sido positivo. Varias iglesias tienen necesidades económicas,
físicas, y cuentan con pocos recursos; estamos orando por ellos. Ciertamente ha habido momentos
difíciles en nuestro pueblo. El Rev. José Luis Gómez fue operado del corazón. Los hermanos Rev.
Margarito y Alicia Garza sufrieron el deceso de su hijo Abel Garza. El Rev. Robert Sánchez estuvo
internado en el hospital. También estuvo internada la Hna. María Alvarado, esposa de nuestro pastor
M. Lic. Antonio Alvarado. También han tenido problemas de salud el Rev. Arnulfo Villarreal, el M. Lic.
Margarito Garza Jr., y el Rev. Gildardo Acosta. El distrito continúa orando por nuestros hermanos y
seguimos confiando en Su misericordia.
Viajando por West Texas me encontré con un pequeño pueblo llamado McCamey, con una
inscripción que decía, ‘Nuestro pueblo es tan pequeño que tuvimos que pedir prestado un caballo, para
que dijeran que somos pueblo de un caballo.’ Ciertamente somos un distrito pequeño, pero no hemos
necesitado pedir prestada ninguna iglesia para que nos digan, ‘Distrito de una iglesia.’ De hecho
contamos con 24 iglesias organizadas y 5 nuevas obras. Ganamos 135 miembros y perdimos 125. Una
vez aprendamos a retener nuestros miembros tenemos potencial de crecer.
Tenemos una membrecía de 1,485 con una asistencia de 931 a la Escuela Dominical y 1,372 al servicio
de Adoración. Recogimos un total de $1, 141,963 y aportamos al distrito $81,355 y nuestras
propiedades tienen un valor de $6, 065,000 dólares. No somos los ‘Rockefeller’ pero tampoco vivimos
debajo de un puente. Distrito, es tiempo de principiar a ver el vaso medio lleno y no medio vacío, y es
tiempo de creerle a Dios, quien todavía está en el negocio de los milagros.
“…Y dijeron: Levantémonos y edifiquemos. Así esforzaron sus manos para el bien.” (Neh. 2:18)
En el Retiro de Superintendentes, en la conferencia de Líderes del mes de Febrero, el Dr. Eugenio
Duarte, nuestro Superintendente General predicó sobre “Evangelismo Apasionado” donde compartió
con nosotros su corazón. De ese mensaje me llamó la atención la frase de Juan Wesley que dijo: ‘Si te
enciendes en fuego, la gente va a querer venir y verte quemar.” (If you set yourself on fire, people will
want to come and see you burn.’) También me llamó la atención la frase de un joven de negocios
africano que dijo: ‘Si quieres triunfar, da más de lo que esperas sacar.’ (If you want to succeed, give
more than what you expect to get.)
También el Dr. Jerry Porter nos desafió a proponernos metas de las que nos avergonzaría no lograr,
como “Casa de Oración” en Cali, Colombia, que se propuso llenar cuatro estadios con 20,000 personas
cada uno, un total de 80,000 y solamente logro 60,000… que vergüenza.
Hace dos años me invito MNI de distrito a predicar en su Convención. Dos días después de haber
enseñado una gráfica diciendo que el distrito no había crecido por 30 años, Dios me llamó a ser

Nehemías. Yo sé que algunos de ustedes dijeron entonces: “más pronto cae un hablador que un cojo.”
Pero el trabajo de reconstrucción no es solo mío, es de todos nosotros, y yo sé que en el nombre de Dios
podemos lograrlo. Así que vamos a prendernos fuego, vamos a dar más de lo que esperamos, y vamos a
proponernos metas que nos avergonzarán si no las logramos.
La visión nuestra para los próximos 10 años es: Un crecimiento constante del 5%.

Para lograr nuestras metas, vamos a:
Primero, CLAMAR a Dios.
Segundo, acompañar nuestro clamor con ayuno, determinación, y mucho trabajo.
Tercero, establecer la creación de un mínimo de una (1) célula por iglesia por año. El
propósito de las células es que la iglesia local crezca, y que estas células se transformen
en puntos de predicación y eventualmente en nuevas obras.
Cuarto, pidiendo al Señor de la Mies, cinco (5) estudiantes al ministerio nuevos por año.
Quinto, estableciendo un mínimo de una (1) nueva obra por año.
Sexto, estableciendo un mínimo de una (1) iglesia nueva por año.
El distrito va a proveer dirección y materiales. También se van a usar herramientas como “Desarrollo de
Lideres,” y “Desarrollo de Estrategias” tales como programas “Cada uno gana uno,” “Dios puede usarlo
para plantar Iglesias,” “Starting strong new churches,” “Dynamic Church Planting International (DCPI),”
entre otras.
Las estadísticas dicen que se necesita una comunidad de 8,000 para sostener una iglesia. Con más de
10 millones de hispanos en Texas y Oklahoma, hay suficientes hispanos para sostener 1,250 iglesias. Hay
mucho que hacer.
La mayoría de nuestras iglesias ya pasaron de la edad de procrear, pero le vamos a pedir a Dios que haga
el milagro de Sarah, y nos permita ‘dar a luz’ nuevas obras.
Hablando del milagro de la vida, gracias por sus oraciones por nuestra hija Denia. Deia Aurora es
el nombre del milagro que Dios nos ha dado. Deia y Talin me recuerdan que del árbol viejo salen nuevos
retoños. Y nuevos retoños surgirán por todo el territorio de Texas y Oklahoma.
Aurora y yo estamos para servirles y les amamos.

SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT 2014-2015
APRIL 2015
Dear General Superintendent, Dr. Eugenio Duarte, delegates and friends,
"At that time I was cupbearer to the king ..." (Neh 1:11) Nehemiah begins his story when he tells of his
ordeal to rebuild his beloved city and the walls that protected it. Why would this man leave his good
position, security, reward, and prestige in the palace to take a challenge for what he may not have had
the necessary skills, and would not have the recognition he had at the royal palace?
He did it for love. Love for the people, love for a destroyed city, love for the fallen walls, love for people
who were losing hope, love for indebted families, and love for people of limited economic resources.
He also did it by faith, faith in an almighty God, faith in people who still had some hope. And he also did
it because he had a vision, a vision of what Jerusalem could be again.
It's been two years since we accepted God's call. We are sure it was God's call, otherwise it
would have been easy to stay in 'the palace and remain cupbearer to the king.' But the love we have for
this district forced us to accept the challenge of what we perceived as the need to rebuild.
Providentially I sat in M15 by Diann Diehl, granddaughter of Dr. Everette Howard, our district
superintendent of 1951 until the end of the 60’s and whom I had the honor of meeting as a teenager. As
the result of this event I was put in touch with Jo (Howard) Cunningham, daughter of Dr. Howard.
Jo was in high school when her parents came to San Antonio, Texas. She told me: "Dad soon realized
that many buildings were in poor condition and soon began a campaign to rebuild those old buildings.
He also realized that some pastors were older, and initiated a program to recruit younger pastors." That
was 64 years ago, and it seems, unfortunately, that the cycle must be repeated.
When I took the challenge by accepting the call to this district, I made just one promise, and it
was to lead this district to have a full-time superintendent. And although we do not have the resources
we said were necessary to take this step, it is my joy this morning to report to you that we do have the
position of full-time superintendent. We have taken this enormous step by faith.
At the same time God has provided as pastor for Las Palmas, the church I pastored for over 26 years,
Dr. Accel and Raquel Ruiz. Dr. Ruiz, being a graduate of our Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas
City, becomes a much appreciated addition to our district. And so begins the work of rebuilding.
A great ally in this rebuilding battle has been Alabaster Box. Thanks to the intervention of Dr. Robert
Broadbooks, we have obtained funds to put a new roof on the church building and parsonage in
Kingsville. We’ve provided a new roof for the parsonage of ‘Jesus Christ, Prince of Peace Church’ in
Brownsville and leveled the foundation of the parsonage of the Central Church as well as provided help
for the electrical rewiring there. We were able to help Harlandale brethren who rebuilt their temple.
We provided aid for the new roof on the Church of San Benito, the roof and reconstruction of gas pipe
at Plainview Church, the building of a pavilion on the new property of Mercedes church, and also

provided funds for the building fund.
First Church of Laredo has been rebuilding their parsonage without help from the district, and we
congratulate them.
The rebuilding work has been an effort by the entire district. Together, adults, youth, and children,
SDMI, NYI, we all have supported the NMI project of "Love in Action" in West Texas. Forty people from
the churches in Harlingen, Corpus Christi, San Antonio Primera, Las Palmas, La Cruz, Fort Worth,
Oklahoma City Primera, and Oklahoma City Segunda helped our three churches in Plainview, Lubbock
and Odessa. The results have been wonderful, literally the desert is blooming.
The rebuilding is also taking place in the district parsonage. This parsonage was bought by
Dr. Everette Howard in 1953, and has since being inhabited by the district superintendents Dr. Harold
Hampton, Dr. H. O. Espinoza, and Dr. Joe Dimas. Sadly the house deteriorated to the point of almost
ruins, but knowing that this place is special and the community is a good community, we have taken on
the task of rebuilding the entire house. We know that it is necessary for the future of the district.
Thanks to the family of Ivan and Pati Martínez, Bro. Ivan is remodeling the entire house and has now
finished the roof on the garage, the district office, dining room, and living room.
The rebuilding is also taking place in the pastoral and educational area.
We participated in the retirement of Rev. Margarito and Alicia Garza. The Church of Corpus Christi now
has a young couple as pastors. M. Lic. Margarito and Angie Garza Jr. have taken this challenge.
Also this year we installed another young pastor, M. Lic. Jesse Mendez Jr. as the pastor of the church in
Lubbock. The church of Mercedes has had labor pains giving birth to a New Start, and our first New Start
in English, Living Water Church of the Nazarene. Another young couple, M. Lic. Santiago and Soila Prado,
are their new pastors. These pastors, along with Dr. Ruiz, gave us four new pastors for the district this
year.
The Nazarene Ministerial Education Institute (INEM) continues to prepare young people for ministry,
both in San Antonio and in The Valley. Some of our other young people are studying at ENTE (Specialized
Nazarene Theological Education).
Our district has joined the other three districts in Texas to begin the Peniel School of Ministry. This
School of Ministry is working in partnership with Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs to give the
possibility of college credit for ministerial education, and making it affordable.
In another area of ministerial education, the department of Hispanic Ministries has joined the Nazarene
Theological Seminary in Kansas City to give Hispanics the opportunity to earn doctorates in Ministries.
Two of our pastors have already been accepted into this program, Rev. Ubaldo Salazar and Rev. Rogelio
López.
We are paying attention to the need for education and training of our clergy, but very few of our pastors
attended PALCON. We will see that in the future, our pastors pay more attention to these
opportunities.
Our General Superintendent, Dr. Gustavo Crocker and his wife, Rachel, were our speakers at the Pastors’
Retreat and God visited us.

Dr. Wilfredo Canales was the speaker at the ‘Dr. José Rodriguez Conference’ and he was a great blessing.
Rev. Corey Jones, Founder of the National Congress of Prayer, was our speaker at the Leadership
Retreat. Other speakers were Ezra Hernandez, president of the Northeast District NYI in Mexico; Estela
Reza, volunteer missionary in Ireland; Vania Palacios, our district NYI president; Dulce Villanueva,
children’s pastor of SA Las Palmas; and Rev. Ubaldo and Teresa Salazar, church planters in San Marcos,
Texas.
In all of these events there was the possibility of obtaining hours for 'Lifelong Learning.'
I personally completed the course for trainer for Dynamic Church Planting International, DCPI.
The walls continue being rebuilt.
"So we rebuilt the wall till all of it reached half its height, for the people worked with all their
heart.” (Neh. 4: 6)
We can notice a spirit of optimism around the district. The churches are working. In every church we see
new faces, and we ate together in most of the annual meetings. Whenever there is food there seems to
be optimism. You know what they say, 'full stomach, happy heart.'
Attendance at Children’s camp increased from about 50 last year to over 120 this year. And for the first
time, our children participated in Bible Quizzing at the regional level at SNU. Attendance at Youth Camp
rose above 100 for the first time in several years. To God be the glory!
For the first time we had a Ladies’ retreat that was only our district’s and which lasted more than one
night. We had 68 ladies in attendance. These women returned to their churches infusing a new spirit.
San Antonio Primera Church received 31 new members. The Mercedes church received 21 new
members. Living Water church began with 26 members who came out of the Mercedes church.

Our churches are also becoming part of the community around them. Mercedes church has begun an
after-school program of childcare, which will be extended to provide food during the summer.
"The Clubhouse," a program which helps people with mental illness, has opened a branch in a church
hall of Las Palmas in San Antonio.

Liliana Reza, missionary in South America, has returned her church membership to her church,
Oklahoma City Segunda. In doing so, our district has a missionary, daughter of this district, born, raised
and educated in our schools. All of us enjoyed her ministry because she was our missionary in the
annual district tour.
Robbie Diaz, another son of our district, attended the SIMS (SNU in Missions) program, I loved their
motto: SOWEGO and he represented us well in the country of Brazil. Once he was back he worked with
us in Youth camp, and in ‘Love in Action’ in West Texas. We thank Southern Nazarene University, our
university, for the work they do with our youth. We hope in the future to have more opportunities to
work together.
Unfortunately not everything has been positive. Many of our churches have economic and
physical needs, and very few resources; we are praying for them. Certainly there have been difficult
moments for our people. The Rev. José Luis Gomez had heart surgery. Rev. Margarito and Alicia Garza
suffered the death of their son Abel Garza. Rev. Robert Sanchez spent time in the hospital. Maria
Alvarado, wife of our pastor M. Lic. Antonio Alvarado, was also hospitalized. Rev. Arnulfo Villarreal, M.
Lic. Margarito Garza Jr. and the Rev. Gildardo Acosta, have also had health problems. Our district
continues to pray for our brothers, and continue to trust in His mercy.
Traveling through West Texas I found a small town called McCamey. And on the highway there
was an inscription that read, 'Our town is so small we had to borrow a horse, so we could be known as a
one horse town.' Certainly we are a small district, but we have not needed to borrow one church so we
can be known as a ‘one church District.' In fact we have 24 organized churches and five New Starts.
We received 135 new members and lost 125. Once we learn to retain our members we have the
potential to grow.
We have a district membership of 1,485; with an attendance of 931 to Sunday school and 1,372 to
Worship service. We raised a total of $ 1,141,963 and contributed $ 81,355 to the district. Our
properties have a value of $ 6,065,000 dollars. We are certainly not the 'Rockefellers' but do not live
under a bridge either. It is time for our District to begin to see the glass half full and not half empty; and
it is time to believe God, who is still in the business of miracles.
"... They replied, “Let us start rebuilding.” So they began this good work." (Neh. 2:18)
In the District Superintendent’s Retreat, a conference of Leaders in the month of February, Dr. Eugenio
Duarte, our General Superintendent, preached on" Passionate Evangelism” as he shared his heart with
us. A couple of quotes he mentioned caught my attention, one of them was the phrase of John Wesley
who said, 'If you set yourself on fire, people will want to come and see you burn.' The other quote was a
sentence by a young African businessman who said. "If you want to succeed, give more than what you
expect to get.”
Dr. Jerry Porter also challenged us to make goals which would embarrass us not to achieve, just like
"House of Prayer” church in Cali, Colombia, who had a goal to fill a stadium with 80,000 and could only
bring 60,000 ... what a shame.
Two years ago I was invited to preach at the NMI District Convention. Two days after I showed a graph
saying that the district had not grown in 30 years, God called me to be Nehemiah. I know some of you
said back then: “Sooner falls a talker than a lame."
But the work of rebuilding is not mine alone, it belongs to us, and I know that in the name of God we can
accomplish it. So, let us set ourselves on fire, let us give more than we can expect, and let us make goals
that we would be embarrassed not to achieve.

For us to achieve our goals, we will:
First, CRY OUT TO GOD...
Second, accompany our cry with fasting, determination, and hard work
Third, establish the creation of a minimum of one (1) small group per church. The
purpose of the small groups is to help local church to grow, and that these small groups
will become preaching points and eventually in New Starts.
Fourth, ask the Lord of the Harvest for five (5) new students for the ministry every year.
Fifth, establish a minimum of one (1) new start per year.
Sixth, establish a minimum of one (1) new church per year.
The district will provide guidance and materials. We will also provide tools such as "Leadership
Development" and "Strategy Development." And programs such as "Everyone wins one," "God can use
you to plant churches," "Starting strong new churches," and "Dynamic Church Planting International
(DCPI), "among others.
Research statistics say that a community of 8,000 is needed to sustain a church. With over
10 million Hispanics in Texas and Oklahoma, there are enough Hispanics to have 1,250 churches.
We have much work to do.
Most of our churches are past the age of childbearing, but we will ask God to make the miracle of Sarah,
and allow us to 'give birth' to new works.
Speaking of the miracle of life, thank you for your prayers for our daughter Denia. Deia Aurora
is the name of the miracle that God has given us. Deia and Talin remind me that out of the stump of the
old tree there are new shoots. And new shoots will emerge throughout the territory of Texas and
Oklahoma.
Aurora and I are here to serve and love you.

El siguiente es el informe del secretario de distrito de la Junta Consultora:

La Junta se reunió 3 veces Durante el año y se ocupó de asuntos urgentes por correo electrónico cuando
sea necesario.

Se revisaron y comentaron los informes de tesorería presentado por el Tesorero Jessica Orozco.

El acta fue leída y revisada en cada reunión.

Aprobación de los trabajos de reparación que continua en la casa Del Distrito (Jeannette St). DS explicó
sobre el acuerdo de hacer la mano de obra los trabajos de reparación donado para permitir que la familia
Martínez a vivir en casa. DS bordo actualiza en cuanto a las reparaciones: área de oficina, techo eléctrico, paisaje,
aislamiento, paneles de yeso *Sheetrock, pintura, nuevo almacenamiento, y otros trabajos realizados a la casa.

Discutió situación pastoral en la Iglesia de Lubbock. Jesse Méndez Jr. servirá como Pastor. Ezequiel
Vázquez como ayudante de pastor.

Discutió problemas con Iglesia SA casa pastoral - incluyendo solicitar a la junta de la iglesia para pedir
Abiel Hernández por donación monetaria en lugar de la renta desde que ya no se está llevando a cabo las tareas
pastorales de la iglesia Central.

En Brownsville la hipoteca de la casa pastoral ha sido pagado en su totalidad. La petición de asistencia
legal en la zona del Valle para ordenar el papeleo legal.

Se solicitará asistencia del INEM para ayudar en la predicación a las iglesias sin pastores.

Trabajar en el papeleo de inmigración para Erasmo Rafael Ramos Puerto (Jimmy) para servir Como
pastor en el distrito.

Aprobación de la adición de Adán Villanueva Como el que puede firmar Como secundario en las cuentas
bancarias del distrito.

Se revisaron y comentaron las fechas para convenciones y asamblea de distrito.


Aprobación de compra de seguro de responsabilidad civil para el distrito.

Las fechas de Amor en Acción y Liderazgo del Distrito retiro se discutió y fue fijado.

Aprobación de la venta del edificio de la iglesia en Lamesa, Tx.

La exención de impuestos para Plainview y Harlingen iglesias necesitan ser actualizados.

Nombre aceptado de la Iglesia Living Water del Nazareno para empezar de nuevo la iglesia en
Mercedes. Discusión dirigida por José Palacios de cómo llegó esta iglesia a existir.
La discusión de los $ 20,000 de Alabastro oferta - $ 10,000 a Iglesia Mercedes y se dejó para el uso discrecional
del distrito. Originalmente parte de este dinero se iba a ir a facilitar. Se dijo que la congregación de Kindom
Church puede seguir pagando renta a la Iglesia Central por el uso del edificio. De la Iglesia Central Iglesia SA.
Aprobación de $ 500 ofrenda a Rev. José Gómez para cubrir los gastos médicos.

Aprobación de ministro del servicio especial se concederá a Adán Flores.

Discusión de nuevo pastor de la Iglesia de Las Palmas - Dr. Accel Ruiz y el nuevo pastor de la iglesia del
Corpus Christi - Margarito Garza Jr. con Miguel Pérez como su asistente.



Visión para el crecimiento fue presentado por el Superintendente del Distrito.

Aprobación de Oklahoma Primera iglesia para la compra de la casa pastoral.

Lista de los presupuestos del distrito pagados revisado. Recomendó que los pastores cuyas iglesias que
no pagan presupuesto no deberían tener roles de liderazgo en el distrito.

Aprobado asistencia financiera para José Cárdenas (pastor de la iglesia Ft Worth) pro papeleo legal.

General Superintendent Dr. Eugenio Duarte, District Superintendent Rev Caleb Herrera, & Delegates to the Assembly,
The following is the report from district advisory board’s secretary:



























Board met 3 times throughout the year and dealt with urgent matters via email when necessary.
Reviewed and discussed treasury reports submitted by Treasurer Jessica Orozco.
Minutes were read and reviewed at each meeting.
Approval of continued repair work at district house (Jeannette St). DS explained tradeoff agreement: donated repair
work labor to allow Martinez family to live in house. DS updated board as to improvements: office area, roof,
electrical, landscape, insulation, drywall, painting, new storage, and other work done to house.
Discussed pastoral situation at Lubbock Church. Jesse Mendez Jr. will serve as Pastor. Ezequiel Vazquez as pastor’s
assistant.
Discussed issues with Central Church SA pastoral house – including requesting the church board to ask Abiel
Hernandez for monetary donation in lieu of rent since he is no longer performing pastoral duties for the church.
Brownsville pastoral house mortgage has been paid in full. Seeking legal assistance in Valley area to sort out legal
paperwork.
Assistance will be requested from INEM to assist in preaching to churches without pastors.
Working on immigration paperwork for Erasmo Rafael Ramos Puerto (Jimmy) to serve as pastor in district.
Approval of adding Adan Villanueva as secondary signor on district bank accounts.
Reviewed and discussed dates for district conventions and assembly.

Originally part of this money was going to go towards facilitating Kingdom Church joining TOLD. They refused
conditions set forth by general church and district. Kingdom Church will remain as renters at Central Church SA.
Approval of $500 offering to Rev Jose Gomez to cover medical expenses.
Approval of Special Service Minister will be granted to Adan Flores.
Discussion of new pastor at Las Palmas Church – Dr. Accel Ruiz and new pastor at Corpus Christi church – Margarito

Comité de finanzas.
Abril 7, 2014
El comité de finanzas del Distrito Latino Texas Oklahoma [TOLD] recomienda:
1. Que las iglesias envíen mensualmente o semanalmente al tesorero de distrito el 10% de los diezmos
y ofrendas regulares [Domingo AM, PM y servicios durante la semana] y el 10% de las ofrendas
regulares de los departamentos. El tesorero de distrito distribuirá este 10% en proporciones asignadas,
por la asamblea, a los diferentes departamentos de distrito de la siguiente manera:
a. 70% Para gastos y sostenimientos del Distrito
b. 5% Para el departamento del MNI de Distrito [Misionero]
c. 5% Para el departamento de NYI de Distrito [Jóvenes]
d. 5% Para el departamento de MED de distrito [Escuela Dominical]
e. 5% Para INEM [Instituto, Nazareno de Educación Ministerial]
f. 5% Para nuevas obras
g. 5% Para gastos de contingencias [emergencias] el cual será administrado a discreción de la Junta
Consultora.
2. Que se envié mensualmente o semanalmente el 10% de los diezmos y ofrendas de la iglesia local y
cada departamento al tesorero de la Iglesia General y a la Universidad Nazarena del Sur
[SNU] divididos en los siguientes porcentajes:

Se recomienda que mande estos presupuestos por cheques separados para facilitar su manejo a la
tesorería general.
3. Que todas las iglesias del distrito posean una cuenta bancaria para depositar todos los ingresos que
tenga la iglesia y que los egresos se realicen utilizando algún sistema bancarizado.
4. Que los departamentos de distrito de MNI, MED y NYI y la administración central del distrito den a
conocer a las iglesias en cada zona, en la gira distrital, el presupuesto de gastos para el ano eclesiástico
2014-2015.
5. Que el distrito someta su tesorería a una auditoria a través de una organización sin fines lucrativos
para recibir
también orientación y ayuda en esta área.

The finance committee of the Texas Oklahoma Latin District (TOLD) recommends:
1. That every Church sent monthly or weekly to the district treasurer 10% of tithes and regular
offerings (Sunday AM, PM and services during the week) and 10% of the regular offerings from
each department. The district treasurer shall distribute this 10% in proportions assigned by the
assembly, to the different District departments as follows:
a. 70% for expenses and support of the District
b. 5% for the department of District NMI (Nazarene Missions International)
c. 5% to department of District NYI (Nazarene Youth International)
d. 5% for the department of district SDMI (Sunday School and Discipleship Ministries
International)
e. 5% for District Bible School INEM (Instituto Nazareno de Educación Ministerial)
f. 5% for new works
g. 5% for contingency costs (emergency) which will be administered at the discretion of the
Advisory Board.

their respective spending budget for the 2015-2016 church year.
5. That the district submits its Treasury to an audit by a nonprofit organization. For guidance and
assistance also in this area.

Se recomienda que cada iglesia se esfuerce en proveer salario digno a su pastor de acuerdo
como lo establece el Manual de la Iglesia del Nazareno y los siguientes principios bíblicos:
A. Que el salario es digno y meritorio así como lo es el ministerio (2ª Tes. 1:11-12, 1ª Tim.
5:18). Es decir, no es un regalo ni acto de bondad ni para cubrir necesidades, sino de
mérito (2ª Cor. 9:7)
B. Que el salario es el fruto del trabajo, la preparación y la capacidad del ministro y así
debe ser compensado en proporción a su capacidad, experiencia, dedicación y
eficiencia (1ª Cor. 9:13-14; 1ª Tes. 5:12; 1ª Tim. 5:17; 2ª Tim. 2:6)
C. Que el ministro tiene una gran responsabilidad y debe cumplirla así como debe esperar
retribución por el cumplimiento eficaz y profesional de su trabajo (He. 13:7, 17).
I.
Que cada iglesia para considerarse SOSTEN PROPIO y pastor de tiempo completo se
esfuerce en proveer un sostén pastoral de mínimo básico semanal según la
siguiente tabla considerando su preparación, experiencia y trabajo pastoral:
$ 350.00 de menos de 10 años
$ 375 de 11 a 20 años.
$ 400.00 de 21 a más años.
A. Que no pongan límites al aumento que la iglesia pueda otorgarle considerando el
salario como prioridad en los gasto a y de acuerdo a la posibilidades y fe de cada
iglesia local. Que sea revisado y actualizado cada 6 meses.
B. Que las iglesias con pastor de MEDIO TIEMPO consideren los mismos principios y
ofrezcan su salario en proporción de tiempo y efectividad del ministerio que el pastor
ofrece y negocien la posibilidad de ser pastor de TIEMPO COMPLETO.
C. Que el superintendente y la Junta Consultora motiven a las juntas locales y a la
congregación de cada iglesia para mejorar el salario y beneficios del pastor.
II. Que la iglesia local sea responsable del mantenimiento de la casa pastoral y que sea
inspeccionada por los ecónomos de ser posible tres veces al año, presentando un reporte por
escrito anual con copia al Superintendente de Distrito.
A. Si el pastor vive en la casa alquilada o propia, la iglesia contribuya de alguna manera
con los gastos de la casa y de utilidades.
B. Si el pastor no tiene casa propia, inicie un fondo a este propósito o aumente la
aportación a su jubilación con un mínimo de $ 100.00 mensuales adicionales. La iglesia
debe entender la importancia de esta necesidad a quienes han entregado su vida entera
al ministerio.

C. Que cada iglesia provea alguna forma de servicios médicos o seguro médico al pastor y
su familia. Si no está en posibilidades de hacerlo, explique al pastor y haga los mejores
arreglos.
D. Que la iglesia ofrezca al pastor una contribución pareja para fondos de jubilación.
E. La iglesia puede negociar con el pastor un paquete total que el pastor distribuya según
su conveniencia.
F. Que cada iglesia cubra los gastos al pastor y su esposa para retiros, campamentos,
convenciones y otras actividades aprobadas en la asamblea de distrito y recomendada
por la Iglesia General.
G. Que cada iglesia le de IMPORTANCIA y provea los recursos para la educación continua
del pastor en cursos que le ayuden a su ministerio.
H. Que cada iglesia local se esfuerce hasta donde sea posible en pagar el seguro social
del pastor utilizando la fórmula del IRS.
I. Que cada iglesia otorgue vacaciones pagadas a su pastor de acuerdo a la siguiente
fórmula:
1. Los pastores que hayan servido tiempo completo o b i-vocacional en la Iglesia del
Nazareno (en cualquier parte del mundo) ininterrumpidamente desde su primera
licencia distrital como ministro:
a. De 1 a 5 años: Dos semanas de vacaciones
b. De 6 a14 años: Tres semanas de vacaciones
c. De 15 años arriba: Cuatro semanas de vacaciones.
2. Que la iglesia se ponga de acuerdo con el pastor cuando este no toma sus
vacaciones correspondientes.
3. Las vacaciones deben ser programadas y aprobadas por la junta local.
4. El tiempo tomado para Asamblea y Convenciones de Distrito, Retiros Pastorales,
Campamentos y Reuniones Distritales, NO pueden ser consideradas como
vacaciones del pastor.
J. Que la Junta Consultora estudie y ofrezca información a las iglesias sobre el tiempo
Sabático del pastor.
K. Que la iglesia considere seriamente ayudar al pastor en las contribuciones personales
para su retiro, utilizando el sistema de la Iglesia del Nazareno de Pensiones y
Beneficios.
L. El manual de la Iglesia del Nazareno ordena el sostén ministerial distrital en su párrafo
136.2; por tanto, se recomienda que cada iglesia local sea responsable de enviar
mensualmente al tesorero de distrito el presupuesto aprobado por la Asamblea.
M. Bajo estas perspectivas, todas las iglesias tienen el privilegio de extender llamamiento
pastoral de acuerdo a las posibilidades financieras de cada iglesia.

MINISTERIAL SUPPORT COMMITTEE OF THE

It is recommended that each church will strive to provide a living wage to their pastor as
provided under the Manual of the Church of the Nazarene and the following biblical principles:
A. That the wage is worthy and deserving as is the ministry itself (2 Thess. 1: 11-12, 1
Timothy 5:18.). It is not a gift or act of kindness or to provide for necessities, but it is of
merit (2 Cor. 9:7)
B. The salary is the fruit of labor, preparation and the ability of the minister and so must be
compensated in proportion to their ability, experience, dedication and efficiency (1
Corinthians 9: 13-14, 1 Thessalonians 5:12, 1 Tim 5:17; 2 Tim 2: 6)
C. That the Minister has a great responsibility to fulfill and should expect payment for the
efficient and professional fulfillment of their work (Heb 13: 7, 17.)
I.
That each church to be considered SELF SUPPORTING and Pastor be considered full
time must endeavor to provide a pastoral support of basic minimum weekly wage
according to the following table taking in consideration their training, experience and
pastoral work:
$ 350.00 for less than 10 years
$ 375.00 11 to 20 years
$ 400.00 over 21 years
A. Do not set limits to increase in wage that the church can give. Consider the salary as
priority and be given according to the possibilities and faith of each local church.
Salary should be reviewed and updated every 6 months.
B. Churches with PART TIME Pastor consider same principles and offer salary in
proportion of time and effectiveness of the ministry that the pastor offers and
negotiate the possibility of full-time pastor.
C. That Superintendent and Advisory Board motivate the local Church Boards and the
congregation of each church to improve the wages and benefits of the pastor.
II. That the local church be responsible for the maintenance of the parsonage and that it
be inspected by the trustees if possible three times a year, and give an annual written report
with copy to the District Superintendent.
A. If the pastor lives in the rented house or owns a house, that the church somehow
contribute to household expenses and utilities.
B. If the pastor does not own a house, start a fund for this purpose or increase contributions
to their retirement with a minimum additional $ 100.00 monthly. The church must

understand the importance of this need to those who have given their entire lives to
ministry.
That each church provides some form of health care or health insurance to the pastor
and his family. If you are not in a position to do so, explain to the pastor and make the
best arrangements.
That the church offers the Pastor to match contributions to retirement funds.
That the Church can negotiate a total package that the pastor can distribute as he sees
fit.
That each church cover expenses for the pastor and his wife for retreats, camps,
conventions and other activities approved by the district assembly and recommended by
the General Church.
That each church give IMPORTANCE and provide resources for the continuing
education that will help the Pastor in his or her ministry.
That each local church to strive as much as possible to pay social security using the
IRS formula
That each church give their pastor paid vacation according to the following formula
1. Pastors who have served full-time careers or bi-vocational in the Church of the
Nazarene (anywhere in the world) continuously since its first district license.
a. From 1 to 5 years: Two weeks’ vacation
b. From 6 to 14 years: Three weeks’ vacation
c. From 15 years and above:. Four weeks’ vacation
2. That the Church has an agreement with the pastor when he/she does not take
corresponding vacation.
3. vacations must be scheduled and approved by the local board
4. The time taken for District Assembly and Conventions, Retreats, Camps and District
Meetings, cannot be considered as vacation.
That the Advisory Board study and provide information to churches on Sabbath for their
pastor.
That the church seriously considers helping the pastor in personal contributions for
retirement, using the system of the Nazarene Pensions and Benefits.
The Manual of the Church of the Nazarene provides for the District ministerial support in
paragraph 136.2; therefore, it is recommended that each local church be responsible for
sending monthly to the treasurer of the district the budget approved by the Assembly.
Under these perspectives, all churches have the privilege of extending pastoral call
according to the financial possibilities of each church.

LXIX Asamblea de Distrito,

Comité de Evangelismo
Este comité dictamina lo siguiente:
1. Que cada pastor y junta local elijan o nombren a un director de evangelismo con
las siguientes características: persona llena del Espíritu Santo y de buen
testimonio, con habilidades administrativas, que sepa organizar a la gente y hacer
una buena planeación. Además, nombrar un equipo de tres o cuatro personas
más que integren el comité de evangelismo local.
2. Objetivo del director y comité de evangelismo. Ganar a los no creyentes para
Cristo.
3. Tareas a realizar. Se mencionarán algunas, pero pueden añadir las que sean
necesarias y utilizar el personal suficiente para realizarlas.
a. Orientar y platicar con todos lo que realicen actividades en la iglesia para que
orienten sus actividades para atraer a otros para que sean asimilados en la
iglesia. Si dicha actividad no produce ganancias de nuevos es mejor dejar de
hacer dicha y buscar otra que de resultados.
b. Organizar la ruta de asimilación de resultados. Esta ruta consiste en atender a
las personas nuevas que llegan a la iglesia, vía cualquier actividad, vía cultos
del domingo o entre semana, vía actividades especiales, campañas de
evangelismo o santidad, hasta integrarlas formalmente a la vida de la iglesia y
sean parte de los enviados a ganar a otros (manual, 110 y 110.1).
c. Presentar a los nuevos ante la iglesia para que sean identificados plenamente
y toda la congregación sea amigable con ellos. Hacer graduaciones ante la
congregación de cada nivel logrado por el nuevo convertido.
4. Definiendo límites y responsabilidades. Este comité no usurpará a los directores y
comités que trabajan para traer a la gente a la iglesia. Tampoco organizará
campañas de evangelismo o santidad. Las campañas de evangelismo y santidad
deberán ser organizadas y realizadas por el pastor y los mayordomos (manual

President’s Report
District Superintendent, Caleb Herrera; NYI delegates, pastors, family, and friends.
I stand here thankful and marveled at the blessings and love of our God. I know I would not
have been able to fulfill the call to His ministry if it wasn’t for His anointing presence that
empowers us to build the Kingdom. Falling more and more in love with His presence every day
is what has kept me going…because only through Him I was able to humbly serve Him.
When I think I’ve reached a peak in life God surprises me with different perspectives, different
goals, approaches, and the continuous renewing of my heart. I am so glad that I live under
grace, because without it, I would not be here sharing the greatness of the Lord with you. If
only I had a transcriber so you could understand my heart and see how much I love and long for
God’s presence and glory, you’d be immediately wanting to encounter the Lord the way I have
this past year. God is beautiful!
Serving has not been smooth sailing, but when I think that I am about to give up , find the
presence of God once again and remember that “He who called me is faithful, and He will do
it”. I cling on to that promise every time situations seem difficult or stressful. I love you God.
This year has been of so much learning…so, so, so much learning…I literally felt like if I learned
anymore I’d burst! I am new at being a youth pastor, new at being an NYI president, and new at
being a graduate student, but God was my guide and my strength through it all and, I obviously
didn’t burst. I could go on and on about how much I love God, how much He has taught me
through these 12 months, and how much I have grown but I don’t think you’d like to hear a
novel as a DP report.
All the events we had as a district were successful not because of the number of people we had
in attendance, but because the presence of God was there, lives were changed, and His name
was magnified. I was able to attend most of the events in our district and to meet many young
people who are in love with and seeking God.

April 27th, 2013: District Tour San Antonio Zone in Corpus Christi.

April 28th, 2013: District Tour Valley Zone in Mercedes.

May 11th 2013: SNU graduation and Central Zone District Tour in OKC Segunda.

May 18th 2013: District Tour West Zone in Lubbock (Our VP Brenda Alfonso went in my
place because I had a previous engagement).

May 23-24, 2013: South Central NYI meeting at Southern Nazarene University. It was a
time of planning and getting to know our region’s DP’s…and then I realized I was the
only girl DP in the council!

May 24-27, 2013: Extravaganza at Southern Nazarene University. Our speaker was
Jeremiah Bolich. We had 39 people from our district attend. For the first time after
many, many, many years of getting second place our TOLD soccer team brought 1st
place home! Our district had representation in quizzing, poetry, soccer, J.H. boys
basketball, and volleyball. The services were great! And God really spoke through
evangelist Jeremiah Bolich about being BOLD by living a true life in Christ and the
deliverance from sin.

June 19-21, 2013: Global NYI Convention in Indianapolis, IN. I don’t know where to
begin telling you that this experience was amazing! I have attended General
Conventions since I was a kid, but being part of the NYI convention, with virtual sites
around the world, and getting to know other Nazarenes involved in youth ministry
around the world was such a blessing to us. Our delegates to the NYI Global convention
were Brenda, Richi, Xavier, and I; Diane joined us and was so helpful when it came to
booking flights and hotel. Thank you, Di for that! I felt challenged to see that although
NYI number of members is rising around the world, the number of US NYI members is
declining…there is so much work to do here to reach young people for Christ! BE. DO.
GO. is the new quadrennial theme…and it fits perfectly with the challenge I have taken
and will challenge you to also take this new year…BE. Evangelism. DO. Discipleship.
GO. Leadership Development…our cities need young people to BE.DO.GO for His
kingdom…we need radical youth who want the love of Christ to explode through our
lives and reach others! Take the quadrennial theme as a challenge for your youth group
and not just as a nice graphic that we will hang on a banner at our churches.

July 29-Aug. 2, 2013: Camp – Life in the Spirit with speaker Nate Cook at Zephyr Baptist
Encampment in Sandia, TX. All I can say is that God poured out His Spirit upon our youth
during camp and I have personally seen the Fruit it has been bearing! We had 92 youth
in attendance. (Diane will share more about camp with you in her report.)

August 30th 2013: Naz-Nite at Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington, TX.

August 31st 2013: Annual Worship Gathering at Fort Worth First Church of the Nazarene
in Fort Worth, TX. with Dulce Villanueva as our speaker. We had an attendance of 120
during our worship service. Praise God for His presence during this time! (Orlando will
share more in his report.)

October 13-14, 2013: South Central NYI Fall meeting at Southern Nazarene University.

We had to cancel our Fall retreat due to the lack of response and the late publicity that
we sent out. As a council, we will continue praying and discussing if this retreat will
continue or will cease.

January 31-Feb. 2, 2013: Leader’s retreat in Brownwood, TX (Heart of Texas Baptist
Camp) with Brett Armstrong as our speaker. It was a time of learning, healing, sharing,
worshiping, and resting in the Lord. I was so blessed to be there
and see the 33 young people who are striving to be better leaders at their local church
and district! (Xavier will share more about this event in his report.)

We had a total of four council meetings which were all held in San Antonio, TX.
In October, we had a change in treasury and we want to thank Manuel Valentin for his two
years of service as treasurer in our district. Our council appointed Byanca Guajardo as our new
treasurer and we are blessed with what she is doing to serve God and our district. She will be
presenting our financial report.
We also had our secretary resign on February 19, 2014. Thank you, Rosario for your time
serving TOLD NYI.
The churches that turned in their reports this year were: Columbia Heights, Emmanuel,
Houston, Laredo, Mercedes, OKC Primera, OKC Segunda, S.A. Primera, and S.A. Las Palmas.
These reports are important, they provide information of our growth, achievements, and allow
our churches to be recognized as NYI Honor Society. The three churches that reached all goals
according to their reports for NYI Honor Society are: Emmanuel, Houston, and S.A. Primera.
At the beginning of September 2012 I began having medical complications that got worse and
worse with time. The doctors could not find what it was and I was just put in different
treatments without seeing much improvement. I was in constant pain from the beginning and
then it turned to pain 24/7. After some time the doctor had an idea of what could be
happening inside me but said there was no other way to know for sure other than to perform
surgery to check it out…if it was what he suspected and getting rid of it was not taken care of

soon, future repercussions could arise. This kept me from attending the pastor’s retreat this
year and it also affected my level of energy to an extreme! I was devastated, in pain, and tired;
I was then reminded that God shows Himself as powerful and miraculous through situations
like this! I was clinging on to Him again and trusting in His power. I had surgery on October 29 th ,
2013 after more than a year of living in pain. It was what the doctor suspected; they got rid of
what was causing all that pain and praise God the pain is minimal (almost non-existent) now
compared to how it was. Thank all of you who kept me in prayer and who anointed me for
God’s healing.
NYI council…we did it with God’s help! Thanks, to each one of you: Brenda, Byanca, Richi,
Stephanie, Jonathan, Jacque, Melissa, Lorely, Andrew, Lupe, Orlando, Xavier, Diane, and Rosario
for your willingness to serve God and our NYI, for your prayers, for ALL, and I mean ALL you do!
I’m so glad we worked together this year! You all are troopers!!! :D
TOLD NYI thank you for your patience, guidance, help, understanding, prayers, and memorable
moments! Let’s keep working for the kingdom!
I want to thank my parents for all their prayers, support, and guidance; I love you both and I
want you to know that I look up to your sacrificial and loving service to God. Thank you for
believing in my calling and helping me develop as a leader. Only you two could handle me and
my crazy as parents, and for that I thank God and you!
Levi, my baby brother, thank you for always letting me share with you. Thank you for putting
up with me as a sister and for sharing your wisdom with me at such a young age. In a quiet yet
strong way you are a blessing to my life. Love you, coso.
Josh, although you couldn’t be here today, I want you to know how thankful I am for always
supporting me in prayer, guidance, ideas, help, love, patience, and allowing me to just talk
when I needed to, I am so blessed with you!
Grandma, tio Ricky, tia Lulu, Richi, and Jaaziel, thank you so very much for opening your home
to me every time I needed to be in San Antonio for meetings. For your support and infinite
prayers, and for all the warm meals you shared with me. May God multiply your hospitality and
generosity a 100 times more!
And last but never least, my Mercedes youth group…you guys are awesome! Thanks for your
prayers and for your support! :D …so blessed with your lives and with the leadership you guys
are developing. Thank you for teaching me so much this past year!

To District Superintendent Rev. Caleb Herrera, Vania Palacios NYI president,
to NYI council, and to everyone attending today.
First of all I want to thank my God and Savior Jesus Christ for my salvation.
This year was a tough due to my health. I want to thank everyone who prayed
me. I was very sick and Jesus healed me. I will never stop thanking the Lord
for all his blessings upon my life. I live to serve him.
In 2013 I attended Extravaganza where we won 1st Place in soccer. Yay! I also
attended Camp 2013 where I helped with worship and small groups. I was a
delegate at Global Convention this past year. This event changed my life and
confirmed a special calling upon my life. I thank you for allowing me to attend.
I represented Vania at west Texas when she was unable to attend. NYC
leadership Conference took place In Louisville, Kentucky two weeks ago and I
also attended. I received important information needed for this event that will
be taking place in 2015. I got very sick on this trip and ended up in emergency
room but once again, God was there to pull me through. I was in charge of
putting together Wacky Tacky Carnival. I want to thank Stephanie Chavez a
dear friend who let us borrow all canopies, Christmas lights and a lot of the
games used last night. She also donated $100 through Access Dental.
Thank you everyone who helped out setting up for carnival. I couldn’t have
done it without you all.
I would like to thank my Dad and my mom for their unconditional support. To
my church for understanding my absence at church due to District duties. I
also thank Vania for her leadership and her support. I want to thank our DP
Rev. Caleb Herrera for his prayers and words of wisdom and encouragement
for my family and myself.
Once again I want to thank The Lord for the opportunity I have to serve him.

Youth Camp Report
2013-2014
District Superintendent Rev Caleb Herrera, District President Vania Palacios, Delegates, and Friends:
As soon as I began investing in the lives of young people through Youth Camp, I began to learn that this
is the work of restoration. You hope and pray that some of our kids will leave camp renewed and/or
have a new passion for their relationship with the living God. Youth Camp is retreat, it’s listening, it’s
opening up and asking questions. It’s finding God where God may be found and listening to the voice of
the Holy Spirit. It’s a place in kids lives where they are enlivened and enriched, transformed, and
hopefully, always being formed in the image of Jesus Christ. Our roles are one of guiding students into
spiritual formation for the mission of God.
Somewhere along the way we have discovered spiritual direction. We were intentional in creating
spaces for sharing once again…sharing life experiences and faith experiences. Through conversation and
communication in small groups, asking teachable questions, seeking the Truth as it is in Jesus Christ, we
learn a lot from each other. We learn of a God who is loving and capable, holy and forgiving, demanding
and empowering, one and three. We learn of a forgiveness that is neither deserved nor earned, but
rather is freely given by the loving God. We learn of a body of believers known as the Church that is
God’s instrument for reaching a world in need of His love, power, forgiveness, and truth. That’s been our
experience at Camp. And with the help of the Holy Spirit, our teens will continue to be transformed from
the inside out.
Thank you Pastor Nate Cook for spending the week with us as our Speaker. Nate is one of X’s
coffee/conversation buddies. And it was clear why X spoke highly of him. Nate has such a way with
speaking to teens. So many commented on how Nate was making a connection and making the message
so clear and easy to understand. Our theme was Life in the Spirit. We are to live in the Spirit out of a
love for God. Nate challenged us to “come clean”…there must be a posture of confession. Sin in your life
keeps the living water from flowing freely in your life. Nate said – come clean…live by the Spirit’s power.
Thank you Nate for making that connection with us at Camp this year.
I wish to thank all those that helped make this years Camp a success. Our Praise & Worship team of
Vania, Brenda, Richi, Tony, Alex, Eric, Edy…thanks for leading us into the presence of God and allowing
His work among our young people. Our Pastors Rev Lopez, Rev Palacios, Rev Herrera, and Sister
Alfonso…thank you for your support at Youth Camp. I would also like to thank our small group
leaders…Manuel, Rosario, Brenda, Astrid, Vania, Edy, and Xavier. Without their leadership and guidance,
the small groups wouldn’t have been as effective.

2013-2014 District Bible Quizzing Report
To the members of our district’s NYI, delegates representing our churches, District President (my lovely
cousin) Vania Palacios, District Superintendent Rev. Caleb Herrera.
Before I give out data and records, I’d first like to acknowledge every Bible Quizzer that we have in our
district; after this I’d like to acknowledge every hard working coach. I say this every year, but you guys
truly are AWESOME and it is SO much fun working with you guys.
We studied the amazing book of Romans. This year our quizzing activities included:
 SNU Extravaganza
 TOLD Youth Camp
 TOLD Six Flags Retreat
We had participation from more than 25 quizzers, from the churches of… Houston Primera, San Antonio
Primera, Emmanuel, Las Palmas, and Mercedes. We also introduced college Quizzing at camp, which is
something I hope can be continued by our next Bible Quizzing director, and made better.
I would like to congratulate all the winners from the competitions, both teams and individuals. I’d also
like to remind y’all that, even though it may sound too cliché, every quizzer has won something. Work is
never in vain, especially if it’s for God.
I truly believe that Bible Quizzing is a ministry that can be used to encourage our youth to actively learn
the word of God, to increase our youth groups’ participation and involvement (locally as well as district
wide) and to call young people to God. Even if it is just for one young person, I invite and pray that every
church leader here make an effort to look into how to make Bible Quizzing possible at your church. We
are here to serve you. It was an honor (and an adventure) to serve God in this ministry.
